Tom Cairney and Tottenham-linked Max Aarons send Instagram messages to Spurs ace

Ryan Sessegnon made his second Tottenham appearance on Wednesday night in the Champions League as Spurs cruised to a 4-0 win in Serbia against Red Star Belgrade – and a Tottenham-linked right-back has sent him a message on Instagram.

The 19-year-old star joined Tottenham on deadline day alongside Giovani Lo Celso in the summer, but the England youth international has since been recovering from a long-term muscle problem. Now, he is fighting fit.

Indeed, Sessegnon made his debut for a minute against Everton on Sunday, before being given 15 minutes by Mauricio Pochettino against Red Star. Some brilliant movement on the left flank saw Sessegnon create Tottenham's fourth goal.

Found by Danny Rose, Sessegnon had space ahead of him before pulling back enatly for Christian Eriksen to bundle the ball home. He posted on Instagram, with Fulham skipper Tom Cairney and Norwich ace Max Aarons responding to his post.

The Daily Mail claim Tottenham are interested in the England Under-21 international, after breaking into Norwich's side and remaining first choice since. He has clocked up 53 appearances at senior level, despite his tender age.

Spurs desperately need a right-back, and Aarons is young, English, and perfect for Tottenham's style of play. The only issue is that Spurs will not be the only club eyeing Aarons – especially with The Mail claiming Norwich want just £20million.

The presence of Sessegnon at Spurs, who is Aarons England Under-21 teammate, will only boost Spurs' bid to sign Aarons.

'Most fans would agree with me' – Fulham fan pundit issues verdict on potential January player return

This article is part of Football League World's 'Regular Punter' series, where we gather original opinions from select, passionate fans of the clubs concerned on matters surrounding their team and share them with a wider audience...

Football League World's Fulham fan pundit David Gadd has urged his club not to agree to the recall of midfielder Jean Michael Seri in the January transfer window.

Seri was loaned out to Galatasaray during the summer transfer window after a disappointing opening campaign with the Whites but according to Turkish outlet TRT Sport, via Sport Witness, they are now eager to send him back to his parent club.

However, Gadd does not believe this would be a smart move.

"I personally don't think it would be a smart move and I believe most Fulham Fans would agree with me on that," the regular punter told Football League World.

"I'm not saying he's a bad player in fact he's far from it.

"I just feel he had such a bad year at Fulham and in England that I don't think coming back would do him any good especially coming into a league as relentless as the Championship."

Seri came to Fulham for a club record £25million transfer fee last summer from Nice and went on to make 34 appearances, scoring once and assisting three more.

However, he was deemed surplus to requirements by Scott Parker in the summer and shipped out to the Turkish league.

But since joining he has made just six league appearances and scored one goal, and with Galatasaray limited on the number of foreign players they are allowed to sign each season, they are keen to ship him out in January.

Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month contenders revealed

The EFL have revealed the contenders for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for the month of October, with Huddersfield Town midfielder Juninho Bacuna, Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Julian Borner, Millwall striker Tom Bradshaw and Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic all nominated.

Four players who enjoyed a thoroughly successful October were Juninho Bcuna, Julian Borner, Tom Bradshaw and Aleksandar Mitrovic. And now, the quartet have been confirmed as the contenders for October's Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award, with the winner set to be confirmed tomorrow. Here's how the four players did over the course of October:

Juninho Bacuna – Huddersfield Town

While only starting in one of the Terrier's games in October, Bacuna had a significant role to play in Huddersfield Town's unbeaten October. Coming off the bench on four occasions, The 22-year-old scored three goals and provided one assist from midfield in his substitute appearances, helping Danny Cowley's side rise out of the relegation zone.

Julian Borner – Sheffield Wednesday

Borner arrived at Hillsborough in the summer transfer window and his form over the course of October has shown why the club opted to bring him in. He played in four out of their five matches and helped keep clean sheets on two occasions, also popping up with a goal against Cardiff City.

Tom Brashaw – Millwall

Tom Bradshaw netted five goals in his five games in October, including the winner in a surprise 2-1 win over promotion contenders Leeds United. His brace against Cardiff earned the Lions a point while his other two goals came against Luton Town and Brentford.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – Fulham

As expected, Aleksandar Mitrovic is thoroughly enjoying life in the Championship, He has netted a total of 11 goals in 15 appearances – with six of those coming in five matches during October. The Serbian striker's brace against Reading and hat-trick against Luton Town were particularly eye-catching, while he also scored in a 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic.

'He'd add that bit more quality' – Fulham fan pundit assesses potential impact of January player decision

This article is part of Football League World's 'Regular Punter' series, where we gather original opinions from select, passionate fans of the clubs concerned on matters surrounding their team and share them with a wider audience...

Football League World's Fulham fan pundit David Gadd has assessed the potential early January return of midfielder Jean Michael Seri from his loan with Galatasaray.

According to Turkish outlet TRT Sport, via Sport Witness, the giants are keen to ship the Ivorian back to South West London after what has been a lacklustre season so far.

But although Gadd is sceptical of the return, he believes that Seri could still contribute.

"I think he'd add that bit more quality to the squad that is already full of top Championship players," the regular punter told Football League World.

"I think he could add that final ball we've been craving for just to open up teams at the back.

"Having said that we have certainly got the players to do it, it's just not happening for them at the moment which is very frustrating to see as they undoubtedly have the quality within them.

"But I don't think coming back would do him any good especially coming into a league as relentless as the Championship."

Seri came to Fulham for a club record £25million transfer fee last summer from Nice and went on to make 34 appearances, scoring once and assisting three more.

However, he was deemed surplus to requirements by Scott Parker in the summer and shipped out to the Turkish league.

Birmingham City reveal positive Jeremie Bela update ahead of Fulham game

Birmingham City have confirmed that recent signing Jeremie Bela has received international clearance and he can now feature against Fulham this weekend.

Blues announced the signing of the 26-year-old on a free transfer yesterday, with the attacker agreeing a three-year deal at St. Andrew's with the option of a further year.

And, he could be in line for a full debut on Saturday, with the club sending out a message on Twitter this afternoon that explained he will be available for selection now all the formalities have gone through.

Boss Pep Clotet had revealed earlier in the day that the former Dijon man had been training with the west Midlands outfit for the past few weeks and would be in the right condition to feature if allowed.

However, it seems unlikely that Bela will start as he hasn't played competitively following a contract dispute with Albacete over the past few months.

The quick forward starred for the Spanish side last season though, scoring 11 goals as they reached the play-offs in La Liga 2.

The verdict

This is great news for Birmingham as you can tell that Clotet and the coaching staff have high hopes for Bela and he will look to make a positive impression immediately.

As mentioned, he is unlikely to start given his lack of competitive minutes but he should get an outing from the bench.

It will be interesting to see how he copes but the fact he has been with the squad over the past few weeks means he knows the players and that could help him settle quicker.

'He makes things happen' – Fulham fan pundit heaps praise on 26-y/o following good showings

This article is part of Football League World's 'Regular Punter' series, where we gather original opinions from select, passionate fans of the clubs concerned on matters surrounding their team and share them with a wider audience...

Football League World's Fulham fan pundit Charles Jones has expressed his views on the way that left back Joe Bryan has performed this term, following a difficult debut campaign for the Cottagers last season.

Bryan of course joined the Whites from Bristol City, coming in as part of the plethora of new signings that arrived in west London prior to the beginning of the 2018/2019 season, which as we know ended in disaster as Fulham were relegated.

The 26-year-old has gone some way to bouncing back from last season's disappointment, registering one goal and three assists so far this campaign, and as such, Jones was quick to heap praise on the defender when we caught up with our fan pundit earlier this week:

"He's shown enough this term to justify the fee we paid for him, but things could obviously change on that front.

If he left tomorrow I wouldn't say it was money well spent, but I do believe he could prove to be a shrewd signing if he continues playing the way he has.

He's arguably been our best defender, and he makes things happen down the left-side in both an attacking and defensive sense.

"I can't have any complaints about the way he has been playing so far this season."

Our Fulham fan pundit was also quick to pick out what he felt are Bryan's best strengths as a player, with Jones saying:

"His strengths are definitely his crossing and his tackling.

"He's got a great left-foot and when you've got a striker like Aleksandar Mitrovic in the box, that's a brilliant asset for your full-back to have.

"He's also a great tackler, as he seems to know exactly when to put a foot in and when to usher his opponent down the line."

It is fair to say that Bryan has been one of Fulham's unsung heroes thus far, and both his manager and the Fulham faithful will be hopeful that the left back can continue to hit the heights he has so far as we head towards the midway point of this Championship season.

Pep Clotet reveals what he expects to happen in Birmingham's clash with Fulham

Birmingham City caretaker manager Pep Clotet has said that he expects Saturday's game with Fulham to be a 'fight for possession', as quoted via the club's official Twitter feed.

The Spanish coach has his sights firmly set on Saturday as his side look to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat against Cardiff last weekend.

Sitting 12th in the Championship table, the Blues are just three points off the play-off places and a result against Fulham would see them push themselves into the chasing pack.

Fulham, are currently sitting eighth but are just one point ahead of Clotet's side – meaning their visit to St Andrew's is a big one.

Clotet, who was speaking to press on Thursday afternoon, said: "I am expecting the Fulham game will be a fight for possession, Fulham like to keep the ball and create chances, we need to make sure we get on the ball as much as possible, the game will probably be decided by percentages in possession."

Dominating games has been key for Birmingham this season, controlling possession in three of their least four games.

Fulham on the other hand are no strangers to keeping hold of the ball either, having a remarkable 75% of the ball.

Despite both sides controlling their last games on the pitch, both lost to Cardiff and Hull City respectively – so it will be interesting to see if one relinquishes possession and takes more risks.

Birmingham are expected to welcome Jeremie Bela into their squad after he completed his move from Albacete in midweek.

Parker: Reaction Needed

Scott Parker is demanding a response from his players when they face Birmingham City on Saturday.

Fulham were beaten soundly by Hull City last time out, but the Whites have bounced back with a positive result after each defeat so far this season.

"We need to react," Parker told FFCtv. "What's done is done. The weekend was disappointing but ultimately it's a 46 game season, a long road, and we're game 15 at this present moment in time.

"Of course we're disappointed, but there's only one way I know to react. We react with a positive frame of mind, a positive attitude, a positive demeanour about us, and a positive effort.

"Like I always say, come the weekend we can lose a football match, but I want to see a team that's dynamic, that's trying everything in their power to win, and I'm sure we'll get that at the weekend."

Blues have impressed in 2019/20, defying bookies' pre-season predictions to occupy a top half spot.

Their form at St Andrew's has been particularly strong, winning five and drawing one of their seven fixtures.

"They're a good side with some good players," Parker said. "At home they're a very good team, we all understand that. Every time I've played there it's always been a tough game, a very hostile place to go. They've got players who can cause teams one or two problems, which we've seen this year.

"We've seen over the first 15 games that there are no easy matches at this level, and come Saturday it'll be the same. As long as we're of a positive mindset and we go into the game fully prepared, which we will be, then we'll be okay.

"I think it will be an open game. We're going to have to weather the storm a little bit at times, especially with it being on their patch. They'll come on the front foot, put us under a little bit of pressure.

"They pack the midfield, they've got a lot of numbers inside the pitch. There's going to be times on Saturday when they're going to cause us some problems and we need to weather that storm and come out the back end of it."

'If the club are serious this needs to happen' – Fulham fan pundit sets out January transfer demands

Football League World's Fulham fan pundit David Gadd has assessed what needs to be done in the January transfer window to ensure his club are where they should be come the end of the season.

Before the campaign got under way, the South West Londoners were installed as one of the favourites to win promotion to the Premier League, just a year after being relegated from the top-tier, but Gadd believes that the January window could well prove crucial.

"I think the main priority is to add some more depth and quality to this side in some key areas like at both full backs, the goalkeeper and some back up for Mitrovic," the regular puntre told Football League World.

"Whether all that will happen in January I don't know, but if the club are serious about being automatically promoted this season then I think this all needs to happen as soon as we can."

January largely saw Scott Parker tweak his Premier League squad, rather than completely overhauling it, bringing in the likes of Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert on loan to bolster the wings as well as the likes of Bobby Decordova-Reid and Harry Arter to bolster other areas.

However, with 15 matches played, they are probably not as close to the summit of the division as they will have hoped, currently sat in eighth place and seven points behind table-toppers West Brom.

They will be desperate to bounce back from their convincing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Hull City on Saturday when they travel to Birmingham City.

Fulham recalling £25m star from his loan spell could be the push they need to achieve promotion

Why Fulham are right to consider a recall for Jean Michael Seri

According to claims from Sport Witness (h/t Star), Fulham are considering whether to recall flop midfielder Jean Michael Seri from his loan spell at Galatasaray.

The 28-year-old, who came through the door at Craven Cottage as a marquee signing for a fee of £25million last summer, was shipped out on loan to the Turkish giants following a diabolical campaign in the Premier League that eventually ended in relegation for the Cottagers.

The huge money that Fulham paid to French club Nice to acquire the services of the Ivorian enforcer, coupled with his consistently underwhelming displays in the Premier League last season, made him somewhat of a protagonist behind the club's relegation from the top-flight.

Seri only managed a meagre return of 1 goal and 2 assists in 32 league appearances for the west London outfit last term, and it wasn't a surprise when he was shipped out on loan to cut down the wage bills this summer as a part of a squad rebuilding job prior to the start of the club's campaign in the Championship.

Fulham eventually went on to bolster their squad with a number of loan signings from various Premier League clubs. The likes of Harry Arter, Bobby Reid, Harrison Reed, Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert all arrived as players with proven pedigree in the Championship and the Cottagers seemed to have all bases covered by the end of the transfer window.

Tipped by many to make a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, the Cottagers made a bright start to their life back in the Championship, but a winless streak of five league games, including defeats against Hull City and Stoke City, has threatened to derail the club's surge for promotion.

Seri has only made a total of 10 appearances for the Turkish giants in all competitions so far this term, starting only four league games.

Seri has started thrice in the UEFA Champions League but with Fatih Terim preferring the likes of Steven Nzonzi and Mario Lemina more often than not, the Ivorian's limited playtime in the Super Lig has put him on the verge of a premature return to Fulham.

To put things into perspective, these speculations might sound unreal to certain sections of the fans but it won't be a bad idea for Fulham to bring him back to the club in January.

Despite his wages, which are up there with the Premier League standards, could be a burden on the club's bills, it is hard to deny that a midfielder of his calibre could possibly be a massive upgrade on the Cottagers' existing options in the middle of the park.

Scott Parker has entrusted Harrison Reed with the No.6 role in his preferred 4-3-3 system, with Tom Cairney a regular fixture in the playing XI and the likes of Arter, Reid, Onomah and Stefan Johansen all filling in the other No.8 role on a rotational basis.

Cairney has starred with 5 goals and 3 assists but the likes of Reid, Arter, Johansen and Onomah are yet to find the net in the Championship, whilst Kevin McDonald has only started once in the league so far.

To that end, Fulham can certainly do with a bit more goal threat from their midfield options and recalling Jean Michael Seri could prove to be a masterstroke that transforms them into outright promotion favourites.

Agreed, the Cottagers are currently right up there with the best scoring sides in the Championship at the moment, but goal contributions from central midfield often make the difference when the race for automatic promotion goes down to the wire, and an influential box-to-box midfielder like Seri is more than capable of chipping in with valuable goals and assists.

Verdict

He might have failed to live up to the hype in the Premier League but a drop down to the Championship could possibly help him rediscover his mojo.

The 28-year-old still has a contract at Craven Cottage until 2022 and Fulham should definitely make use of that rather than just allowing a player of his calibre to rot somewhere else on loan.

Ryan Sessegnon reveals what was difficult about his move from Fulham to Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur went nearly 18 months without making a single new signing over the course of the 2018/19 season, despite making the Champions League Final.

The Lilywhites finally broke that drought by signing Jack Clarke from Leeds United, followed by Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, Giovani Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis, and Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.

The latter impressed during a cameo on his Champions League debut last night in Serbia as Pochettino gave Sessegnon 15 minutes against Red Star Belgrade.

Spurs were already 3-0 up at the time but Sessegnon managed to add to that by assisting a fourth for Christian Eriksen, having an instant impact in his Tottenham career.

The ex-Fulham man has now revealed that it was difficult coming to Spurs as an injured player as he has had to work hard to get back to full fitness.

However, he praised the club for their help and assured fans that he wants to take every chance that comes his way.

He said (Tottenham): "It's good to be back. It wasn't easy coming to the Club injured and I've had to work hard to get to where I am now but credit to the medical staff, they've brought me back and now I'm raring to go.

"Every opportunity I get, I want to take. I'm grateful to the manager and to the players who have all welcomed me to the Club. I just want to keep repaying them with good performances."

'Could really do with some cover' – Fulham fan pundit identifies area that Parker needs to strengthen

This article is part of Football League World's 'Regular Punter' series, where we gather original opinions from select, passionate fans of the clubs concerned on matters surrounding their team and share them with a wider audience...

Football League World's Fulham fan pundit Charles Jones has pinpointed a key area in which Scott Parker needs to go about strengthening when the January transfer window comes around in a few months time.

The Cottagers of course underwent something of a squad rebuild this summer following their dismal Premier League campaign, with a total of 10 players being shown the door by Parker this summer, with a further seven coming in the other direction.

Despite significantly strengthening his side in several areas, our Fulham fan pundit was quick to point out an area in which Parker has largely overlooked this summer, with Jones stating the following about the left back spot:

"An injury to Joe Bryan would likely see either Maxime Le Marchand or Tim Ream pushed to full-back, and nobody wants to see that.

"Ream is important to have at centre-back, and the Frenchman unfortunately looks lost whenever he steps onto a football pitch.

"We could really do with some cover, as staying fit over a 46-game season is a very tough task."

It is easy to understand the issue from our fan pundit's point of view, with the Whites only possessing Joe Bryan who can fulfill that role, they run the risk of being left short of cover if the 26-year-old does indeed pick up an injury.

Parker would certainly be wise to consider bringing in reinforcements, particularly with their being a swell in the amount of fixtures which are to be played over the next few months.

It is a well known fact that most of the teams who gain promotion to the Premier League make use of the depth in their squad, with injuries and lack of form an inevitably nowadays, causing manager's to change tactics now and again.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Parker goes about improving his squad in January, with the Whites looking to solidify their place as one of the main promotion favourites this term.

'Very hostile' - Scott Parker gives the verdict every Birmingham City fan wants to hear

Latest Birmingham City news includes what the Fulham boss has said ahead of Saturday's clash

Scott Parker has admitted he's expecting a 'very hostile' Birmingham City crowd when Fulham visit on Saturday.

Boss Parker is demanding a reaction from his side after they were toppled by Hull City last time out in a 3-0 defeat at Craven Cottage.

The 39-year-old has plenty of experience of playing at St Andrew's having spent the best part of two decades in the Premier League and thinks he knows exactly what awaits his charges.

"They're a good side with some good players," Parker told Fulham's website.

Fulham were tipped to be among the Championship's pace-setters after being relegated from the Premier League but after 15 matches, they're only a point better off than Blues.

"We need to react," he added.

Aleksandar Mitrović has been named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for October.

Having already collected the PFA accolade, Mitrović made it two awards in three days after the Sky Bet panel decided he was the best player in the division last month, when he scored six times.

"It's always nice when you win personal awards," Mitrović said. "It means that I did something right, that the team did something right as well, so it's a nice feeling."

Keep an eye on FFCtv later this morning for the full interview with Mitro where he discusses the awards, what went wrong against Hull City, and bouncing back on Saturday in Birmingham.

Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic and Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley win Sky Bet Championship October awards
Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson and Rochdale's Ian Henderson win in League One; Salford City boss Graham Alexander and Swindon's Eoin Doyle win in League Two

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for October.

A hungry, aggressive striker in supreme form. Six goals in five games for Fulham (and another two for Serbia) included a poacher's hat-trick against Luton and the cheekiest of finishes to rescue a London derby point against Charlton.

Mitrovic said: "It's always nice when you win personal awards. It means that I did something right, that the team did something right as well, so it's a nice feeling."

Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for October.

Any doubts that he could gain the respect of highly paid Championship players and instil his methods were swept away as Huddersfield gained 11 points from five unbeaten games, re-connected with their fans and moved out of the bottom three.

Cowley said: "I'm happy to accept this award on behalf of every member of staff and every player at Huddersfield Town, because our form over October is down to an incredible team effort.

"When Nicky and I arrived at the club, we found a superb set of skilled, dedicated people who have a deep care for Huddersfield Town and this run of form is down to their hard work and dedication.

"Equally, the players deserve so much credit too. Their attitude and application has been good and we've enjoyed their full commitment. We're all humble enough to know that we are still a work in progress and there is a lot more work to do, but we're looking forward to the hard work in front of us."

28-y/o's rumoured Fulham return would be nothing but a hindrance and must be avoided: Comment

As the final whistle blew at Wembley Stadium in June 2018, Fulham's stay in the Championship officially came to an end.

Tom Cairney's cool first-half strike had proven enough to beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the play-off final, sending Slavisa Jokanovic's side back to the top-flight.

What's more, they looked like a side who were going there to stay. The South West Londoner's arrived with an exciting, young squad at their disposal and one who played football in a progressive manner that would, in theory, thrive in their new home.

However, an exciteable board, suddenly swamped with enormous riches, ended up hindering the Whites in a way that stunted the seemingly inevitable progress of Jokanovic's unit.

Huge fees were splashed on stars as yet unproven in the top-flight including Andre Anguissa, Joe Bryan, Fabri and Maxime Le Marchand, with the likes of Luciano Vietto, Timothy Fosuh-Mensah and Sergio Rico all joining on loan as well.

It completely interupted the rhythm that they had worked so hard to build and led to their top-flight downfall.

This summer saw all but two of those stars leave Craven Cottage. Bryan is now thriving whilst Le Marchand continues to offer back-up to Tim Ream and Alfie Mawson.

Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri was the supposed jewell in the transfer crown from that 2018 shopping spree, brought in for £25 million and smashing the club's transfer record in the process.

However, after a season which saw him score once and assist just three more, he was deemed surplus to requirements by Scott Parker in the latest summer transfer window – shipped out on loan to Galatasaray.

But it seems the Turkish giants are equally unimpressed with the Ivorian, with Sport Witness reporting that the club are ready to send him back to Fulham in January, in order to free up some space on their roster for another foreign player – who are capped in the Super Lig.

This is a situation that Fulham must avoid.

Parker's side are yet to fully click this season, hence why they are sat in eighth place rather than in the automatic promotion places, but there is huge promise there.

Whilst additions in January may help, bringing Seri back into the fold will only serve to act as a hinderance amid a midfield unit which is slowly beginning to click.

In their boss' preferred 4-3-3 formation, the trio of Cairney, Harry Arter and Stefan Johansen regularly impress, with the balance between beauty, brains and braun nicely balanced.

Therefore, even if Galatasaray do opt to cut Seri's loan short, the best decision would be to send him back out on loan again or, ideally, sell him permanently.

Doing anything else would only risk making the same mistake they made upon their return to the Premier League.
