Luton Town 3-3 Fulham

Aleksandar Mitrovic (right), the Championship's top scorer this season, bagged Fulham's second equaliser

Fulham came from behind three times as they snatched a point in a thrilling Championship draw with struggling Luton at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters, who had lost nine of their past 11 games in the league, led when Kazenga LuaLua capitalised on Fulham's Alfie Mawson being caught trying to play out from the back - only for Bobby Decordova-Reid to head the Whites level immediately.

Collins fired home to restore the hosts' lead before the break, but the visitors levelled again when Serbia international Aleksandar Mitrovic headed in a corner with 13 minutes to play.

Luton looked to have won it when Harry Cornick struck minutes later, but in added time Decordova-Reid's second of the game ensured it ended level - as the hosts dropped back into the bottom three.

It meant heartbreak for Graeme Jones' side, who, off the back of three consecutive league defeats, had impressed against their high-flying opposition.

But, in truth, a draw was probably a fair result, with Fulham having much the better chances, with Decordova-Reid unfortunate not add to the scoring before Mitrovic's second leveller.

The result saw Scott Parker's side drop to fifth before sixth-placed Preston's trip to Leeds in the Championship's 17:15 GMT kick-off. The London club host Stoke on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Luton dropped into the relegation zone in place of the Potters after Michael O'Neill's side hit two added time goals to stun Sheffield Wednesday.

Head Coach press conference

Scott Parker spoke to the press immediately after the game to provide his assessment of the Luton Town fixture.

"I was a little disappointed with the goals we've conceded," said Parker.

"Scoring four goals to win a football match is always going to be difficult.

"They had three shots on target and scored three goals. We put their goal under a lot of pressure, but their keeper pulled off some fantastic saves.

"We were punished by two sucker punches. I want us to play, but also smell and sense the game, and I felt we didn't do that in the first-half.

"Now, being in the heat of it, we're disappointed but maybe when it all settles, we'll be fine.

"The most pleasing thing for me was the character shown by the team, coming to a tough place and going one down.

"My team showed massive character, massive fight and a real determination."

When asked about keeping possession and playing from the back, Parker responded to the manner in which the Luton Town scored their first goal.

"It didn't work for the first goal, certainly not," stated Parker.

"Managing the game at that moment is down to the players understanding that they're playing a Boxing Day game against Luton Town, who are scrapping for their lives.

"We were a bit naive, but it's still important for us to play our way. We just  need to understand when it's right and when it's wrong.

"It's a tight, compact stadium. We needed to judge the whole atmosphere of the place, smell it, sense it and paid the price.

"Having said that, we played well in the second-half and when you look at the stats, you hope you'd be on the winning team. We needed to mix it up without going to far away from what we are."

Report: Aston Villa heavily interested in Aleksandar Mitrovic

Aston Villa are heavily interested in signing Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

January looks set to be a crucial month for the Villans. Dean Smith's men go into their Boxing Day clash with Norwich City inside the relegation zone in the Premier League.

And it would be no surprise if Smith looked to sign a new striker. The large majority of their goals have come from their midfielders, with summer signing Wesley scoring just four goals in 18 appearances.

The player that Villa reportedly want is Mitrovic. The Serbia international tops the Championship scoring charts, with 17 goals in just 22 games for Fulham.

That form has left Scott Parker's men right in the promotion mix in the second tier. And Smith is seemingly hoping that Mitrovic could potentially score the goals that fire Villa to safety.

The Daily Mail reports that Villa are heavily interested in the former Newcastle United man. It is not clear what the Cottagers would want for their talisman.

BBC Sport reports that Fulham paid £22 million to sign Mitrovic permanently. And it is difficult to imagine that they would be willing to accept anything that does not see them make a substantial profit.

TBR View

Mitrovic has been outstanding for Fulham, but it may still be a gamble to make a move. He will not come cheap, and, from the outside, he looks to be extremely happy at Craven Cottage.

Villa certainly need to look at signing a new striker when the window opens. But it is surely not going to be easy to bring Mitrovic in.

Leeds confirm Tottenham will terminate out of favour winger Jack Clarke's loan in January... opening the door for promotion rivals Fulham and Brentford to target the English winger

Jack Clarke will be recalled in January by Tottenham after a failed Leeds laon
The winger has not been fancied by Marcelo Bielsa in the Championship
Fulham and Brentford are reportedly interested in signing the 19-year-old

Tottenham have told Leeds that they will cut the loan deal for Jack Clarke short in January due to the lack of game time United boss Marcelo Bielsa has granted the English winger.

Clarke has been played just 19 minutes in the Championship this season after he was loaned back to Yorkshire after Spurs signed him for £11m in the summer.

In the match-day programme ahead of Leeds' Elland Road clash with Preston, CEO Angus Kinnear revealed the news: 'We thank Jack Clarke for his services and wish him the best of luck in his career as Spurs have confirmed, due to lack of playing time, he will be recalled in the January window.'

Fulham and Brentford have targeted the teenager, and upon his arrival back in N17 next month they will be able to swoop.

Clarke was one of the breakthrough stars of the Championship when he broke into the Leeds team last season but he has struggled to reproduce that form this term.

Clarke came through the youth system at Leeds and made his first-team debut on 6 October last year against Brentford.

In his programme notes, Kinnear also stated that Leeds are 'endeavouring to convince Eddie Nktiah and Arsenal' that the striker should stay in the Championship until the end of the season - with the Gunners also able to recall their on-loan starlet.

The 20-year-old has only 343 minutes in the second tier this season, appearing exclusively as a substitute.

Real Madrid eye Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa because of Paul Pogba transfer problem

Fulham flop Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa could be in line for a shock move to Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants set to miss out on Paul Pogba in January

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is unlikely to join Real Madrid in January, with Los Blancos set to turn their attentions to Andre Franck Zambo Anguissa instead.

Reports in Spain are claiming that the Frenchman will only leave Old Trafford for former club Juventus in the upcoming window and not Real.

As a result, Eldesmarque are reporting that the club are now looking at alternative options, with Fulham flop Anguissa at the top of the list.

Anguissa was one of five transfer deadline day recruits at Craven Cottage last season but failed to live up to his club-record £30m fee.

Ultimately, the Cottagers were relegated to the Championship after picking up just 26 points and Anguissa has since been shipped out on loan to Villarreal.

The 24-year-old has welcomed the move to Spain, starting all but two of Villarreal's La Liga matches so far this season, recapturing the form which earned him the big money move to Fulham in the first place.

Villarreal are said to be keen to make Anguissa a permanent addition in the summer and reportedly have an option to buy for around £25m.

The midfielder is said to have impressed Zinedine Zidane in his substitute appearance against Madrid back in September and the Frenchman thinks Anguissa would be a good back-up option for Casemiro.

The report also states that West Ham star Declan Rice and Wolves talisman Ruben Neves are also on Real's radar.

However, Wolves' head of recruitment John Marshall is adamant Neves will not be leaving Molineux any time soon, saying: "Without a doubt, he (Ruben) is a real top player.

"We are aware of the fact that so many top clubs follow him around Europe but we are focusing on him. He is not for sale."

Decordova-Reid rescues point for flaky Fulham

Scott Parker had Bobby Decordova-Reid to thank as the on-loan Cardiff forward's double ensured Fulham left Kenilworth Road with a point having come from behind three times against relegation-threatened Luton Town.

The Londoners might have aspirations of automatic promotion, especially after their feisty win over second-placed Leeds United last weekend, but some generous defending gifted the hosts at least two goals as the Fulham back four appeared to extend the season of goodwill a little too far. It took just five minutes for a first gift to arrive. Marek Rodak played Alfie Mawson into the trouble and the lumbering centre half was robbed by James Collins, who teed up Kazenga Lua-Lua for the simplest of finishes.

Fulham fashioned a spirited riposte three minutes later. Ivan Cavaleiro tricked his way towards the byline down the right flank and whipped over a delicious cross that Decordova-Reid nodded home from close range, having been afforded the freedom of Bedfordshire by a sleepy Luton defence. The visitors then put together a serious spell of pressure but Croatian keeper Simon Sluga was equal to powerful efforts from Joe Bryan and Tom Cairney.

Just as it appeared as though Fulham were getting on top, those defensive frailties resurfaced again. Mawson failed to clear a free-kick and Collins slammed home his eighth goal of the season, although it looked suspiciously like he had used his hand to control the ball prior to blasting past a helpless Rodak. In a bid to redeem himself, Mawson went on a sortie upfield but screwed his shot well wide from long-range and Fulham were probably fortunate not be further behind at half-time, after Collins had a second goal ruled out for offside.

Luton were penned back almost from the off after the resumption, battling to hold onto their lead. Inside the first ninety seconds of the second half, Aleksandar Mitrovic, scorer of a hat-trick when these sides met at Craven Cottage earlier in the season, saw a shot blocked before Sonny Bradley bravely threw himself in the way of Josh Onomah's attempted strike. Decordova-Reid looked Fulham's mostly likely source of an equaliser, cutting in dangerously from the left flank, but Sluga made one fine save to turn a rising drive over and the former Bristol City forward sent another low strike fractionally wide of the far post.

The hosts' own attacks were rather sporadic but former Fulham midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe had a glorious chance to put the game beyond his old side with seventeen minutes to go. Played in by a combination of Collins and Harry Cornick, Tunnicliffe opted to try and pull the back across goal instead of shooting from an acute angle and Cyrus Christie was able to block Collins' attempted finish as Fulham bodies flooded back.

Fulham exploited that let off when Mitrovic, hitherto brilliantly nullified by the Luton defence, nodded home a Knockaert corner at the far post to level matters. Any hopes that the sizable away contingent held of roaring their side onto victory evaporated when Tim Ream and Bryan got themselves into a horrible mess overplaying inside their own half and substitute Cornick rolled a low finish into the unguarded net. Cornick then had a chance to make certain of the points for the Hatters after he breezed away from Ream but dragged his finish wide after latching onto Pelly Ruddock's punt forward.

Fulham came again and got the most fortuitous of lifelines in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Knockaert sent over a teasing cross from the right, Sluga couldn't hold substitute Aboubakar Kamara's header and Decordova-Reid thumped home another equaliser from inside the six-yard box. That sparked euphoria amongst the travelling supporters – but the fact that Fulham couldn't convert 65% possession into a victory over the Championship's worst defence should trouble Parker.

Luton 3-3 Fulham: Hatters denied in thriller at Kenilworth Road
Report and highlights from the Sky Bet Championship clash at Kenilworth Road

Bobby Decordova-Reid struck in stoppage time as Fulham three times came from behind to claim a thrilling 3-3 draw at struggling Luton.

Decordova-Reid had already cancelled out Kazenga LuaLua's early goal with his first of the afternoon just nine minutes in.

James Collins then put Luton back in front just before the half hour, a lead that held until Championship top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic headed home with 13 minutes left.

Harry Cornick thought he had won it for the Hatters with six minutes to go, but Decordova-Reid struck four minutes into time added on to leave Luton in the bottom three after a fourth straight defeat.

Graeme Jones' side had not played like a team who had lost nine of their last 11 games, quickly on the front foot as LuaLua punished a mistake from Alfie Mawson after just five minutes.

But the lead last only four minutes as Decordova-Reid timed his run to meet Ivan Cavaleiro's cross and head home.

Luton were back in front when Fulham failed to clear Luke Berry's free-kick into the box and Collins was able to lash home the loose ball.

Collins had the ball in the net again in the 34th minute, but the flag was already up for offside.

Mitrovic lashed narrowly wide in the opening minutes of the second half while Decordova-Reid's 63rd-minute strike was tipped over the bar as Fulham pushed for an equaliser.

It finally came in the 77th minute when Mitrovic met a corner to head home, but parity lasted just seven minutes before Cornick restored Luton's lead.

There was more drama to come, however, and Decordova-Reid's second of the afternoon earned Fulham a point that keeps them level with Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off places.

What the managers said...

Luton's Graeme Jones:
"We would have got beat six weeks ago - there's enough negatives out there if you want to go searching for them. I was absolutely proud as punch for 97 minutes at our display in every single aspect and we're unfortunate at the end.

"I think we played them nine weeks ago - the gulf is huge, the financial gulf that's there. I think we bridged the gap with effort and quality at times, I would rather take the positives."

Fulham's Scott Parker: "I was a little disappointed with the goals we've conceded. Scoring four goals to win a football match is always going to be difficult. They had three shots on target and scored three goals. We put their goal under a lot of pressure, but their keeper pulled off some fantastic saves.

"We were punished by two sucker punches. I want us to play but also smell and sense the game, and I felt we didn't do that in the first half. Being in the heat of it we're disappointed, but maybe when it all settles we'll be fine."

There's No Change As Fulham Scrape An Injury Time Equaliser Against Lowly Luton

On the back of a well-earned and hard-fought victory against high flying Leeds United at Craven Cottage last weekend, Fulham fans turned up in numbers at Kenilworth Road expecting a rather easier three points this time.

Instead, Groundhog Day returned to haunt all of us that may have had any belief in the return to winning ways were about to happen.

In no time at all, Mawson got himself in all kinds of trouble doing the Parker form of defence. If there's no player close enough to pass to, then dribble your way out of a situation, even when you're in your own six-yard box.

He helplessly gave the ball away and we were one down. Luckily for Fulham, we do have one player that is at last settling down in this team and looking sharp. Bobby De Cordova-Reid, who within minutes found the net for our first equaliser.

Just before the half-hour mark, another dreadful defensive mistake allowed Collins to receive the ball totally unmarked and calmly put Luton ahead, leaving the Fulham players screaming at the linesman for an offside.

Fulham started the second half on the front foot, but another couple of defensive errors almost put the game beyond the visitors. It wasn't until the 77th-minute substitute Knockaert's corner was met by the Fulham talisman who found the space to head in the second equalizer.

It now looked like the game was with Fulham to repeat their earlier 3-2 home win against the Hatters, with almost total possession. Yet as all Fulham fans know, you never can predict what they are capable of.

Another farcical attempt to play their way out of a simple situation handed the home side the most simple of goals on a plate when Harry Cornick slotted home (even Junior would have scored whilst playing his piano).

Into 5 minutes of added time and still, the supporters of both teams were not sure who would get the next goal if one was coming. Luton squandered a couple more chances before the hero for Fulham on the day, Bobby De-Reid was in the right place to tap in a third leveller for the under-whelming Fulham team.

A final result of 3-3 was probably as good a result that Fulham deserved, against a team that has let in 50 goals in half a season.

Fulham's defence needs surgery if we are to have any chance at all of a play-off place come the end of the season. That is there and has been since last year, for all to see...............................

Parker rues poor defending but hails Fulham's 'massive character'

Scott Parker admitted Fulham's defending must improve following an extraordinary 3-3 draw at Luton.

A last-gasp equaliser by Bobby Decordova-Reid, who scored twice, rescued a point at Kenilworth Road.

But boss Parker has no doubt that his team need to cut out the mistakes if they are to sustain a promotion challenge.

He said: "Scoring four goals to win a football match is always going to be difficult.

"We were punished by two sucker-punches. I want us to play, but also smell and sense the game, and I felt we didn't do that in the first half."

An error by Tim Ream led to Fulham going behind after just five minutes.

After Ream gave the ball away, James Collins teed up Kazenga LuaLua, who fired home.

The Whites hit back just four minutes later courtesy of Decordova-Reid's header from Ivan Cavaleiro's superb cross from the right.

But more shoddy defending led to Luton regaining the lead just before the half-hour mark.

This time Fulham failed to deal with a free-kick and Collins was able to score from close range.

Fulham dominated much of the second half and Aleksandar Mitrovic hauled them level again with a 77th-minute header.

But another defensive aberration led to Luton going ahead for the third time.

Joe Bryan was unable to control Ream's pass and Harry Cornick ran through to score.

The travelling fans went home happy after Decordova-Reid netted deep into injury time and Parker praised his team for their battling qualities.

"My team showed massive character, massive fight and a real determination," he said.

Fulham flop linked with shock Real Madrid transfer

According to a report from Spanish news outlet Eldesmarque, Fulham's loaned out midfield flop Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is on the radar of Spanish giants Real Madrid after enjoying a revitalising loan spell with La Liga side Villareal.

Expectations were high when midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa arrived at Fulham in the summer of their promotion to the Premier League, signing for the Cottagers from French side Marseille in a reported £30 million deal. However, Anguissa struggled – as did Fulham – and they were relegated back to the Championship.

In the summer, Anguissa was loaned out to Villareal to ensure he played enough football and to help trim the club's wage bill, and since, he has not looked back. The Cameroon international has played in all but two of Villareal's La Liga games, scoring once and providing one assist in the process, impressing for the Yellow Submarine.

Now, it has been reported by Spanish outlet Eldesmarque that Anguissa's performances have caught the eye of Spanish giants Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane is keen to add a new central midfielder to his ranks and with a potential move for Paul Pogba faltering, Anguissa is being lined up as a potential second option.

Real are not the only Spanish side said keen on a permanent deal for Anguissa, with loan club Villareal – who have a £25 million clause in the midfielder's loan deal if they want to sign him permanently – also keen on a deal.

Amid the surprise reported interest from Real Madrid, it will be interesting to see how Anguissa's situation plays out over the course of the January transfer window.

The difference in tone is probably because for the next two games SP has to choose from the same group as he did for the Luton game.

The new troop or troops will not be on board until we play Villa on 04 January 2020 (even though we've signed Hector the transfer window does not open until midnight on 01 January)
It could be better but it's real life and not a fantasy
