Fulham team news: Key man one of five out of Man City clash

Fulham are due to play against Manchester City in a FA Cup fourth round clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Scott Parker'sChampionship side will head into the clash as under-dogs against Pep Guardiola's side.

City are however not the same side that they were last season.

Fulham will not really be under intense pressure to get a win from the game and this could work to their advantage.

Fulham will have to make do without a number of first-team players for the game including Aleksandar Mitrovic, Aboubakar Kamara, Neeskens Kebano, Harrison Reed and Anthony Knockaert, according to Sky Sports.

Serbia international Mitrovic has been out of action for the last two games.

Fulham forward Kamara has not featured since the 2-1 loss against Reading whilst Kabano has not been in action for a month.

Sunday's game will mark the first time that the two team's will be facing off in the FA Cup since 1914.

The Cottagers have lost their previous eight games in all competitions against City.

The two sides last met in a Premier League clash in March 2019 with City prevailing 2-0.

City have won their previous seven FA Cup games. The last time that they lost in the competition was when they lost 1-0 against Wigan in February 2018.

It is very hard to see Fulham getting a positive result from the game considering their injury issues as well as the fact that City have a near full strength side for the game.

The Cityzens may also be going all out to try and win the competition again considering that they will not win the Premier League this season.

Manchester City team news: Defender duo available for selection against Fulham in FA Cup tie

Manchester City will face Fulham in the fourth-round tie of the FA Cup at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Premier League giants will enter the contest as firm favourites, especially considering the match is going to be played in Manchester.

City are coming in the match unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions, which included seven victories as well.

On the other hand, Fulham are also on a decent run of form off late where they have won three out of their last four matches in all competitions which included no defeat.

On the team news front, City will welcome back defenders Benjamin Mendy and John Stones who have completely recovered from injuries, as per BBC.

The report also stated that City manager Pep Guardiola will have the full squad available for selection except for long-term absentee winger Leroy Sane.

City have an impressive record against their Sunday's opponent where they have registered 15 wins in 28 outings with just four defeats.

In the last meeting between City and Fulham at the Etihad Stadium back in November 2018, it was the home side who came out on top with a 2-0 margin, courtesy a brace from young winger Brahim Diaz.

Jordan Henderson told Liverpool 'no' when they tried swapping him for Fulham's Clint Dempsey in 2012'

The sight of Jordan Henderson lifting a trophy for Liverpool is becoming fairly common.

In the last seven months, the Reds captain has guided in his side to victory in three of the most prestigious titles in club football: the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

And he'll almost certainly do so a fourth time in Liverpool's final home game of the Premier League season.

Henderson has played a key role in the Reds' resurgence under Jurgen Klopp, such is his commitment to giving absolutely everything for the Anfield club.

Not everyone is of the view that he's adequately replaced Steven Gerrard as skipper, though there's a growing appreciation for his leadership qualities.

Speaking on BT Sport, Henderson's former Sunderland David Meyler says every team needs a player like the 29-year-old.

"If you look at the work Jordan does, he's the one that allows Trent Alexander-Arnold to go forward, he covers a lot of his space a lot of the time. It's almost as if he's playing holding midfield and right-back," he said.

"He understands and is aware that the ability Trent has going forward with his deliveries - you look at the number of assists, I think he's got ten in the Premier League.

"He's unselfish and he does everything for the team."

According to Meyler, who shares a close friendship with Henderson, Liverpool would've cast away their talisman in 2012 if it wasn't for his drive to succeed on Merseyside.

The former Ireland international was on the phone with Henderson when then Reds boss Brendan Rodgers came to see the midfielder about moving him on.

"I believe they wanted him to go to Fulham and Clint Dempsey was going to go the other way," Meyler recalled.

"But he said, 'no'.

"He just said: 'No, I want to stay here. I want to play for Liverpool. I'm going to play for Liverpool', and look at him now."

Fulham and QPR eyeing Carter-Vickers but face competition

Fulham and QPR are in the running to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan from Tottenham but reportedly face competition from the likes of Derby County and Middlesbrough.

The centre-back was recently recalled from a loan spell at Stoke City and is expected to go back out on loan next week.

Teamtalk say Fulham are among a host of Championship clubs keen on the USA international and that there is also interest from Derby, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield.

West London Sport reported earlier this month that QPR were interested in Carter-Vickers as they look for a central defender.

The player appears to have no future at Spurs, where he is well down the pecking order of centre-backs under Jose Mourinho.

Teamtalk say any loan deal is likely to include an option to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Fulham boss Scott Parker is confident he will not lose star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in the final days of the transfer window despite the Serbian being linked with Premier League clubs – including Spurs.

Parker said at a press conference: "I'm not worried. he's very committed.

"I feel like he's in a good place and he's leading scorer in the division. I think he has a sole aim of helping us reach our goal and being successful this year. I suspect everything will be fine in the next week."

Leicester's Under-18s Narrowly Beaten At Fulham

A second-half fightback wasn't quite enough for Leicester City's Academy side, who suffered a 3-2 defeat by Fulham at Motspur Park in the U18 Premier League South on Saturday.

The young Foxes had previously been unbeaten since the start of 2020, a run which included an excellent 4-1 success over Reading at Belvoir Drive a fortnight ago.

However, their west London hosts raced into a three-goal lead after 46 minutes on Saturday, through a brace from Jean-Pierre Tiehi and a solitary strike from Fabio Carvalho.

City's youngsters battled back, though, as Kasey McAteer latched onto Bailey Aisthorpe's pass to get one back for the visitors in the 51st minute at Fulham's training ground.

They got a second goal, too, through Dempsey Arlott-John before the hour-mark, but Leicester's Under-18s were unable to get another to maintain their unbeaten run in 2020.

The result leaves City sixth in the U18 Premier League South, four points behind Tottenham Hotspur, before hosting Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday 1 February (11am kick-off).

The details...

City: Bosworth (c); Barrett, Aisthorpe, Sams, Leathers; Tavares, Ewing, McAteer; Flynn, Arlott-John, Russ (Maswanhise 76')

Subs not used: Odunze, Springer, Yfeko, Marcal-Madivadua

Goals: McAteer 51', Arlott-John 57'

All times GMT.

Fulham Support Confident Automatic Promotion Can Be Achieved This Season

This weekend Fulham park their Championship campaign to chase glory in the 4th round of the FA Cup.

To say the Cottagers were given a hard tie is a bit of an understatement with Scott Parker's side being drawn to play the current Premier League title holders, Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Some would say it is mission impossible, but you just never know when it comes to the FA Cup, miracles do sometimes happen.

But, returning to the Championship and the possibility of achieving automatic promotion, something that was hit with a blow following the 0-0 draw away to Charlton Athletic, we can reveal the results of our latest poll where we asked whether: Fulham Can Still Achieve Automatic Promotion This Season.

The results show that you have every belief that will be the case with 88% voting for the YES option, compared to just 4% who went for the NO option.

As for the remaining 8%, they couldn't make their minds up and went for the undecided option.

All that remains to be seen now is whether the 88% are right!

Only time will tell.

Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.
