Where we messed up afterwards is having an owner who couldn't/wouldn't/didn't want to invest in the squad heavily - we had an opportunity to capitalise on the final and really push on as a club, but we floundered and regressed.

It's no surprise that we got the likes of Petric to the club having him played in the Hamburg team that lost to us at the cottage, or Dejagah who played at Wolfsburg, but there were rumours around then of being linked with hot prospects whom we didn't go that small bit extra to sign- then FFP starts in 2011/2012 season and we're back to being limited by our stadium capacity, merchandising sales or ability to upsell players - until the Khan's came in - their downfall was that they simply don't/didn't know how to run a football club and made mistakes over and over again, undermining key figures responsible for the clubs success or having a happy trigger finger.

we got to the final because we had an owner that visibly led from the front, supported his manager and squad, employed profesionals and tdid not let his familly run team affairs. The current owner is a good bloke but does not understand what needs to be done to make our club thrive. If slav would have had MAF as the owner we would be winning the Prem not liverpool (well maybe not but allow me some poetic licence).
