3 players Fulham could realistically sell this summer to recoup some funds for new players

With football at a standstill and financial problems expected, we have taken a look into club's summer transfer plans, identifying THREE players they could sell to recoup some funds.

Sitting third in the Championship table, Scott Parker's side look likely to gain a play-off place and embark on a potential Premier League push.

Parker has masterminded his side to win 18 games out of the 37 in the league, the former England midfielder will be keen to seal promotion or changes could be made this summer at Craven Cottage.

Whether it be a Premier League campaign or a Championship season next term, Parker will undoubtedly need to bring in a number of new faces this summer.

Looking into the potential of summer sales, we have identified THREE players that could be sold to recoup some funds for the London based side...

Aleksandar Mitrovic

The former Newcastle United striker has been in sublime form, scoring 23 goals, but if Fulham do not gain promotion to the Premier League, then he will undoubtedly gain interest from a number of England's top flight sides.

Valued at around £18m, the striker has been key to Scott Parker's form this term so any potential exit for the striker would be a significant one for the Craven Cottage outfit.

Jean Michael Seri

The defensive midfielder is currently on loan at Galatasaray, and it is expected that he will seek a summer exit from the English club.

The former Nice player undoubtedly has talent, but his time at Fulham has somewhat been diminished because of their relegation from the Premier League last season.

His value of £8.55m could hand Parker some invaluable transfer funds to spend on a new arrival.

Andre Zambo Anguissa

In the same boat as Seri, Anguissa was made very much a scapegoat after Fulham were relegated from the Premier League last term.

The defensive midfielder is currently on loan with Spanish side Villarreal and his reputation will see him gain interest from a number of sides this summer.

With his value at £18m according to Transfermarkt, his sale could give Parker a substantial amount of transfer funds.

Fulham's Aboubakar Kamara issues upbeat message amid EFL break

It's safe to say that it's a frustrating time to be a football supporter, with recent off-the-field events calling an abrupt halt to fixtures across the country.

No scheduled return date has been put in place as of yet, as the relevant authorities continue to look into the most suitable option going forward.

It means that the race for promotion in the Championship has been put on hold, with it being a tightly-contested battle heading into the final nine games of the season.

Fulham are one of the teams that are well in contention to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, with Scott Parker's side being sat third in the second tier standings.

One player that has played his part in their strong performances this season is Aboubakar Kamara, who has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the Cottagers this term.

Kamara took to Instagram over the weekend to tell the Fulham supporters to stay positive during this difficult period of time for the country.

The Verdict:

It's good to see him staying upbeat.

It's a really difficult time at the moment for a number of people across the UK, but a return date for football to come back into our lives should only be finalised when deemed safe enough to do so.

Fulham have been impressive this season, and I think that they're definitely in with a shout of winning promotion back into the Premier League.

Kamara will be hoping that he can find his best form in front of goal when football does return, even if that is to be behind closed doors.

A Letter From The Chairman

To Fulham Football Club supporters and partners,

As we begin the month of May, I thought it was appropriate to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and interest in Fulham Football Club. To lose some degree of engagement during this global pandemic is certainly understandable, but there is no question that the Fulham community is as tightly connected as ever.

For instance, I am in constant contact with CEO Alistair Mackintosh and am updated daily by my son Tony, who serves you as the Club's Director of Football. The word I hear from both is enthusiasm and optimism are still very much in great supply, both within the Club and among our supporters and partners. Our players have stayed healthy and safe, and those who were injured have got themselves fit for whatever may await. And I understand that our fans have taken this opportunity to interact and celebrate in the memories of the Europa League run in 2010 on its tenth anniversary, and that's been great fun for everyone.

All of this underlines the fact there are few, if any, clubs like Fulham. While we do not know what is around the corner for the 2019/20 season and the game itself, what we do know is when we return, there will be no loss in the sense of family, tradition and belief that are signatures of Fulham Football Club. That's abundantly evident to me and hope it is to you as well.

I am also very proud, but far from surprised, at the work your Club is doing in the community to serve residents and groups that need a helping hand and have historically counted on Fulham to offer one. We are not disappointing them. In fact, we're often rising to the occasion in heroic fashion.

As an example, it was recently reported that our Club's team doctor, Dr. Justin Yeoh, is currently caring for some of London's most vulnerable residents during this global health crisis. What's important to note is he is doing this as a volunteer and did not seek attention or publicity for his efforts. It's a selfless act, and I know many other staff members – as well as players and supporters – are also doing their part as good citizens to see their neighbours, friends and all of us through this pandemic. That's the Fulham way.

One update I want to share is to note that our commitment to Fulham Pier is no less today than prior to the pause in our season on March 13. As a matter of fact, construction continues just as it would have otherwise, with crews adhering to strict safety and social distancing practices as prescribed by borough and city officials. While all of us at Fulham are mindful and respectful of the situation the entire world is experiencing with this pandemic, our continued progress on the project is good news that I thought we could use and is appropriate to share.

Finally, on behalf of my entire family and everyone at Fulham Football Club, I want to commend the courageous men and women on the front lines of this unprecedented battle in London and throughout the world. To everyone who is committed to our well-being and conquering COVID-19, from health care workers to those who keep store shelves stocked with daily essentials and many, many others, thank you! And to everyone reading this, please consider that the best way to honour these good people is to respect all mandates and recommendations by our health and public officials. That will not only help to ensure our health and wellness, but theirs as well, and better days for all.

Thanks for reading and staying close, and best wishes to everyone. Come on, Fulham!

Coleman and Wright have their odds cut for Luton job
Former Wales boss now listed at 16/1

Former Wales boss Chris Coleman Copyright: Getty

Former Wales, Sunderland and Fulham manager Chris Coleman has joined the running for the managerial vacancy at Kenilworth Road after seeing his odds cut by SkyBet.

The 49-year-old, who was a player at Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers and Fulham, started his managerial career with the Cottagers, leading them to ninth in the Premier League during the 2004-05 season.

After leaving Craven Cottage, he had spells in charge of Real Sociedad, Coventry City and Greek side AEL, before being appointed as Welsh manager in January 2012.

He led his country to the Euro 2016 finals in France as they won their group and then defeated Belgium to reach the semi-finals, losing 2-0 to eventual champions Portugal.

Coleman left his position in November 2017, taking over at Sunderland, then in the the Championship, but departed the Stadium of Light in April 2018 after winning just five of his 29 games in charge.

He was then appointed head coach of Chinese Super League club Hebei China Fortune, as successor to Manuel Pellegrini in June 2018, signing Javier Mascareno from Barcelona, and finishing in sixth place.

However, last season Fortune were 15th after nine games, as Coleman was sacked on May 15 and has been out of work ever since.

He has now been listed as 16/1 for the job with Luton, despite the Hatters insisting they are not looking to replace Graeme Jones, who left the club by mutual consent recently.

Further ahead of Coleman in the odds at 12/1 is former Newcastle and Manchester City goalkeeper Tommy Wright, who has just left Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone.

The 56-year-old took over from Steve Lomas in June 2013 after initially being assistant at McDiarmid Park, leading the Saints to their first Scottish Cup Final win in May 2014.

He was voted Premiership Manager of the Season for the 2015-16 campaign and secured a third successive fourth-place finish in the Premiership the following season, quitting two days ago after admitting he 'needed a break'.

The Northern Irishman won 31 caps for his country and has also been in charge of Limavady United, Ballymena United and Lisburn Distillery.

The pair are both behind favourite Nathan Jones at 2/5 and Mick Harford 10/1, while Michael Flynn remains 14/1 with Nigel Adkins 14/1, Alan Sheehan 16/1, Gareth Ainsworth 16/1, Ian Evatt 16/1 and Michael Duff 16/1.

Shahid Khan offers several Fulham updates as season pause continues

Fulham owner Shahid Khan has written an open letter to supporters of the club via the Lilywhites' official website, as the wait for the season's resumption continues.

The current situation has provided a truly unique set of circumstances for everyone to have to deal with, football clubs included.

Fulham, of course, have had their promotion charge put on hold with them just six points outside of the top two and plenty of games left in order to make that deficit up.

When the game is given the green light, focus will be on making up that ground, then, but in the meantime, Khan has sought to send a message to fans and offered several updates.

Among them, he revealed that the players were in good shape and those running the club below him are in a positive frame of mind.

He said:

"I am in constant contact with CEO Alistair Mackintosh and am updated daily by my son Tony, who serves you as the Club's Director of Football. The word I hear from both is enthusiasm and optimism are still very much in great supply, both within the Club and among our supporters and partners. Our players have stayed healthy and safe, and those who were injured have got themselves fit for whatever may await."

Aside from league matters, the Cottage was also undergoing plenty of construction work and Khan also offered an update around that.

He said:

"One update I want to share is to note that our commitment to Fulham Pier is no less today than prior to the pause in our season on March 13. As a matter of fact, construction continues just as it would have otherwise, with crews adhering to strict safety and social distancing practices as prescribed by borough and city officials. Ex-Everton assistant Luis Boa Morte keen on St Johnstone job after Tommy Wright departure

Ex-Everton assistant Luis Boa Morte keen on St Johnstone job after Tommy Wright departure

Former Everton assistant Luis Boa Morte is understood to be keen on the vacant St Johnstone manager's role.

The Portuguese coach most recently worked alongside Marco Silva at Goodison Park before the pair were axed after 18 months in the dugout.

Ex-Arsenal and Fulham star Boa Morte, 42, has previously expressed a desire to work as a number one in Scotland and Herald and Times Sport understands his representatives are preparing an approach to the Saints board.

Boa Morte has also previously coached for a spell at Fulham and enjoyed time in his native country at Portimonense U23s.

It comes after long-term manager Tommy Wright left the job at McDiarmid Park late last week. The Northern Irishman is considered the club's best ever manager due to his Scottish Cup win and consistent top six finishes in the Premiership.

The favourite to replace him is his previous assistant Callum Davidson, while others on the bookies' shortlist include Steve Lomas, Inverness boss John Robertson and current caretaker Alec Cleland.

West Brom and Fulham tussling with 2 PL sides for 15 goal winger – Following him 'very closely'

When you score 15 goals in 28 league appearances, it doesn't matter who or where you play, people are going to come take a look.

That's exactly what's happened with Yoane Wissa, who plays for Lorient in Ligue 2 (they have since been promoted to Ligue 1), and half of England appears to have taken notice.

That last bit might be an over exaggeration, but there's still a number of Premier League and Championship clubs following his situation closely, as Téléfoot are reporting West Bromwich Albion, Fulham, Watford and Southampton are all 'following him very closely'.

The 23-year-old has shown a very efficient knack of finding the back of the net from left-wing this season, and it's no surprise to see teams fighting for promotion, such as the Baggies and the Cottagers, as well as already established top-tier clubs like the Saints and the Hornets, taking notice.

They aren't the only ones, as Bundesliga sides, such as Augsburg, Mainz and Köln are also there, as the player enters an interesting part of his contract, which expires in 2022.

He's at that perfect time where a great profit could be made, having only been bought for around €2m in January 2018, but it's made clear Lorient 'aren't despairing about extending' his deal.

It would make sense for the club to try and keep hold of their best assets as they enter France's top-tier, but they'll also be aware teams like Southampton and Watford are always ready to pay a pretty penny for top French talent.

As for Fulham and West Brom, their projects remain very attractive, but a lot could depend on the FA deciding whether the season will end as it is or will eventually be finished at a later date.

If it's the former, then the Craven Cottage residents might find themselves struggling to convince a player like Wissa to join them, especially with Premier League clubs circling.

West Brom, on the other hand, would likely be promoted, giving them that extra pull they might need to secure important targets for a season in England's top division.

'Top man', 'Proud' – Plenty of Fulham fans are loving key figure's important update

Fulham remain well in contention to win promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking under the guidance of Scott Parker.

The Cottagers are currently sat third in the Championship table, and are six points adrift of the automatic promotion places with just nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

However, that promotion push has been put on hold for the time being due to recent off-the-field events, with no scheduled return date being put in place as of yet.

Fulham's owner Shahid Khan recently issued an update on the club during this difficult period of time for the UK, whilst also praising the efforts of the key workers across the country.

He revealed that the club's doctor Dr Justin Yeoh has been helping vulnerable people in London as a volunteer whilst he is out of work.

Plenty of Fulham fans were quick to praise Shahid Khan for his latest statement during the break from competitive action.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could sign his own Louis Saha this summer
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a striker this summer.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a striker when the transfer window reopens - and Moussa Dembele could be the way to go. The Lyon star looks set to leave the Ligue 1 giants. And, should the France international move to Old Trafford, he could replicate the achievements of Louis Saha at Old Trafford.

Like Saha, Dembele is a striker who has worked his way up to earn a move to a big club.

Saha, again like his compatriot, spent time at Fulham. He enjoyed three-and-a-half years at Craven Cottage, finally moving to United in the January of 2004.

He made an instant impact at Old Trafford upon arriving, giving Sir Alex Ferguson another ruthless striker up top to play alongside Ruud van Nistelrooy. He found the net seven times before the season ended, starring with the Dutchman in attack.

Saha only got better for United, too. Injury prevented him from fulfilling his true potential - but the 41-year-old always delivered the goods when selected.

He scored 15 goals from 30 games as the club won the EFL Cup back in 2006, ousting Van Nistelrooy from the side to become Wayne Rooney's main strike partner in the process.

And, the following year, he managed 13 across 34 matches as the Red Devils ended a four-year wait for the Premier League title.

When you think about the great United strikers, it's unlikely you'd mention Saha in the same breath of the likes of Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Eric Cantona, Robin van Persie, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and more.

But the Frenchman was signed by Ferguson not just for his scoring instincts, but because of his footballing intelligence.

And now, with Dembele, Solskjaer could be about to do the same.

The Norwegian has seen his current crop of strikers excel this season, helping to fill the void left behind by Romelu Lukaku's summer move to Inter Milan.

Marcus Rashford has led the way, with the England international finding the net 19 times across all competitions - his best-ever tally for a single campaign.

Anthony Martial is on 16, one short of his best goal total of 17 - which was achieved in his first season at the club.

And teenage talent Mason Greenwood has scored 12 goals, despite spending the majority of his time stuck on the bench.

Too good for Luton ?.Would say just about his level.
Sunderland was awful for him had plenty of time to keep them up.
Only won 5 games in 29 .
Think he got lucky with Wales for a one off tournament.
