Fulham and West Brom among sides said keen on FC Lorient's 15-goal winger

French news outlet Telefoot has claimed on Twitter that FC Lorient winger Yoane Wissa is attracting transfer interest from a number of sides including Championship pair Fulham and West Brom.

FC Lorient winger Yoane Wissa has been one of the most impressive performers in the second division of French football this season. And now, it has been reported that Wissa is attracting significant transfer interest from a host of sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

Championship pair Fulham and West Brom have both been said keen on a move for Wissa this summer. But, they are not alone. German trio FC Augsburg, Mainz and 1.FC Koln have all been linked with a swoop for Wissa, as have Premier League pair Southampton and Watford.

Wissa has been in electric form this season, netting 15 goals and laying on four assists in 28 Ligue 2 games so far this campaign, also scoring one goal and providing one assist in two Coupe de France matches.

The Frenchman has spent his entire career in his home nation, coming through the academy with LB Chateauroux. He went on to play 24 times for the club's senior side, netting seven goals and providing five assists before leaving to join SCO Angers in 2016.

While with Angers, Wissa struggled to make an impact, spending most of his time with the club out on loan. He spent stints with Stade Lavallois and AC Ajaccio and left the club permanently in 2018 to join FC Lorient. Since then, Wissa has played 85 times for the club, netting 26 goals and providing 15 assists.

Now, with a host of sides said keen on signing him – including Fulham and West Brom – it will be interesting to see how the winger's situation pans out this summer and if these claims emerging from France develop into anything beyond rumours.

Will Fulham make Anthony Knockaert's move from Brighton permanent?

Fulham have the option to make Anthony Knockaert's loan from brighton and hove albion permanent this summer.

Signing the French winger after relegation from the Premier League last term was a big statement of intent by Scott Parker's side.

On paper, you could argue Fulham's squad should be in the top two of the Championship with the likes of Knockaert, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ivan Cavaleiro. However, they currently find themselves six points behind West Brom and seven behind Leeds United.

Knockaert's influence

He rocked up at Craven Cottage with Championship promotion expertise. He had won promotion with Leicester City in 2014 and then with Brighton in 2017.

Knockaert had also scored a combined 36 goals in his past four seasons in the second tier from the wing, making him a very exciting coup for the Cottagers.

Naomi Baker/Getty Images Sport

He has made 34 appearances for Parker's side this term, scoring four goals and gaining five assists. He has not quite managed to bag the same amount of goals as he did at Leicester and Brighton, but he has still been a useful player for Fulham.

If the season does resume, he could play a massive part in their promotion push as he seeks his third to the top flight.

Can he do it in the Premier League?

Knockaert's long-term future prospects with the London side could depend on what league they are in. Both times he has gone up to the Premier League he has found himself drop back into the Championship shortly after.

If Fulham do go up and exercise the option to sign him permanently over the coming months, the 28 year old will want to prove he can cut it at the top level. Failing to get promoted could result in financial implications that mean they don't sign Knockaert and may also have to sell of their high-earners.

FA Youth Cup Final Anniversary

Six years ago today the Fulham Under-18s faced London rivals Chelsea in the second leg of the FA Youth Cup Final, a game Marek Rodák recently described as the "standout moment" during his Academy career at Fulham.

Following an exciting 5-4 aggregate win over Reading in the semi-final, Fulham's prolific form in front of goal continued, scoring three times in nine minutes to take the first leg 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

In a second leg which swung one way and then the other, three late goals saw Chelsea come out winners with a 5-3 win on the day and a 7-6 win on aggregate.

We take a look at the starting eleven involved that day and the careers they have forged, and what better place to start than Rodák himself.

Marek Rodák (Goalkeeper)

Our current number one joined the club at the tender age of 16 and immediately impressed, stepping straight in for the 18s. He was a vital cog in the machine that saw the Young Whites progress to the final and later would win a trophy with the team when they lifted the Dallas Cup.

The Slovakian stopper continued to climb the Academy ranks and made his First Team debut at the beginning of the 2017/18 season. He remains one of the first names on the teamsheet under Scott Parker.

Ryheem Sheckleford (Right-Back)

Ryheem joined the club in 2011 and despite not making a First Team appearance, achieved success at youth level. He was given his first taste of senior football when he was sent out on loan to non-league side Wealdstone in 2016.

He captained the U18s during the 2014-15 season but a couple of years later was released. The defender is a current starter for National League outfit Maidenhead United and has recently played alongside Academy players Taye Ashby-Hammond and Jaydn Mundle-Smith.

Jordan Evans (Left-Back)

After developing through Wrexham's Academy, Jordan joined us at the age of 15 and towards the end of his time at the club he admitted that the Youth Cup run was his best moment in football, saying; "I was obviously absolutely gutted to lose but that was special."

During his spell at Motspur Park he was a part of the U18 side which won the league title as well as the Dallas Cup in 2013. He made 48 appearances and later made it onto the bench for the First Team in a league Cup tie against Stoke City. He was released in the Summer of 2016 and re-signed for childhood club Wrexham. He now plays at the back for Welsh Premier League club Cefn Druids.

Liam Donnelly (Centre-Back and Captain)

Liam captained Fulham to the final and his impressive performances saw him receive a call-up to the full Northern Ireland squad where he went on to gain his first cap. After a two-year spell at Hartlepool, he now plays for Scottish Premier League side Motherwell and has recently moved from defence to midfield, going on to score four goals in three games.

Cameron Burgess (Centre-Back)

The Australian centre-back signed a three-year scholarship in 2012 and joined up with the U18s, making his debut against Crystal Palace in October. He soon made the step up to the U21s where he made 17 appearances before making his First Team debut in the 2014 league opener against Ipswich Town.

Despite making four senior appearances, the then 21-year-old joined Scunthorpe Utd in 2017. He remains a Scunthorpe player but is currently at League Two side Salford City on a season-long loan.

Soloman Sambou (Defensive-Midfielder)

The holding midfielder was nicknamed 'The Enforcer' within the Academy, known for his physical attributes and steely determination. Soloman made the U18 squad before he turned 16 and was a vital part of the side that won two national titles and a Dallas Cup on top of their fantastic FA Youth Cup campaign.

He went on to trial at Bolton Wanderers but unfortunately wasn't signed on. He instead ended up at Bedford Town before moving on to National League South side St. Albans City, where he remains today.

Dean O'Halloran (Right-Winger)

The Whites signed Dean as a schoolboy from Southend Utd but the winger was unfortunate in his first full season, with injuries limiting him to just 12 league appearances for the U18s, mostly as a substitute.

He was later used as a striker for the U21s but unfortunately broke his ankle in January 2015 against Southampton. Upon his return, he failed to break into the First Team and was released in 2016.

Dean was signed by Irish side Bohemians and after later signing for hometown club Waterford (where he won promotion back to the Premier Division) he switched to fellow Irish top division side Galway Utd.

Emerson Hyndman (Centre-Midfielder)

In Emerson's first U18s game he put on a fantastic, man-of-the-match display scoring a hat-trick in a 7-1 thrashing over Wolves. His side went on to win the Championship in 2013 and the Dallas Cup.

His consistency saw him sign his first professional contract in April 2013 and after spells in the U21 side, he got his first taste of First Team football at the age of 18 in the league opener against Ipswich Town where he put on another superb display in midfield. In 2016, the American signed a four-year deal with AFC Bournemouth and has since moved on to MLS side Atlanta United.

George Williams (Left-Winger)

The winger, who signed from MK Dons in the Summer of 2012 travelled to the United States with the U19s who later became champions. He was a regular for the U18s on the left, playing alongside an array of great strikers such as Cauley Woodrow and Moussa Dembélé.

Despite only managing 5 goals, his creativity proved instrumental and he scored the deciding penalty in the Dallas Cup semi-final against Fluminense.

In August 2014, George made his First Team debut in the league against fellow London side Millwall. He often found himself on the bench but later ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament which saw him out of action for the rest of the season. Before the start of the 2018/129 season, he joined League Two Gloucestershire based side Forest Green Rovers, where he remains today.

Patrick Roberts (Attacking-Midfielder)

Patrick joined Fulham from AFC Wimbledon at the age of 13 and signed a professional deal on his 17th birthday before Felix Magath handed him his Premier League debut against future side Manchester City in March 2014. He was aged just 15 and yet a regular starter for the U18s. His skill was soon noticed by England and he was selected to play for the national U16s in the Victory Shield tournament.

Roberts has remained at Manchester City since leaving us but spent two-and-a-half seasons on loan at Scottish side Celtic, winning back-to-back trebles. He gained further experience at Spanish side Girona and Norwich City. He is currently on loan at fellow Championship side Middlesbrough.

Moussa Dembélé (Striker)

The tricky Frenchman signed for Fulham at the age of 16 in 2012 from Paris Saint-Germain and quickly became a crucial player for Steve Wigley's U18s. His incredible talent was clear to see right from the off and it didn't take long for him to make the big step up.

He made his professional debut in November 2013 after coming on as a substitute in the 83rd minute in a 3-0 loss against West Ham United. It was reported that Tottenham were interested in the forward, but he chose a switch to Scotland and joined Celtic under Brendan Rodgers in 2016.

He continued to shine and helped his side win the domestic treble. He soon caught the eye of French side Lyon, who he signed for in 2018 for a hefty sum of £19 million. The 23-year-old has scored 42 goals since joining.

West Brom and Fulham locked in transfer tussle for 16-goal midfielder

West Brom and Fulham are locked in a transfer tussle with a number of clubs to the potential signing of FC Lorient midfielder Yoane Wissa according to Telefoot.

The report claims that the likes of Watford and Southampton are interested in signing Wissa, as well as FC Augsburg and Mainz also being reportedly interested in the midfielder.

Wissa has been in impressive form this season for FC Lorient as well, and has scored 16 goals in 30 appearances for them in the second tier of French football.

A move to West Brom could be a tempting proposition for Wissa as well, with Slaven Bilic's side currently sat second in the Championship table.

Fulham are also well in contention to challenge for promotion back into the Premier League this season, with the Cottagers currently sat third in the second tier standings.

However, those promotion bids have been put on hold for the time being, with recent off-the-field events calling a halt to fixtures across the globe.

No scheduled return date has been put in place yet for English football, although the French season has been ended early by the relevant authorities.

The Verdict:

He could be worth the punt in the summer.

Wissa has shown that he knows where the back of the net is this season, and I'm not surprised to hear that there are plenty of teams registering their interest in landing his signature.

However, he doesn't have any experience in English football, which makes it a risky signing for the likes of Fulham and West Brom, who can't afford to waste time with players who potentially struggle to adjust to the demands of football in the top-two tiers.

Wissa would be a gamble, but if he hit the ground running, it could prove to be a shrewd bit of business.

"Has to be", "Obviously" – These West Ham fans give 39 y/o ex-Hammer unofficial award

These West Ham United fans have named former Hammer Scott Parker as our best tackler over the past 10 years.

The 39-year-old signed for us for £7m in 2007 and is the manager of Fulham but spent five seasons at Upton Park as a player, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 129 appearances which was the longest spell of his career.

Parker won the coveted Hammer of the Year award three times, becoming the first player since Julian Dicks in 1997 to retain the title in 2010. But injuries hampered any form of progression in his career, with co-owner David Sullivan stating that he stopped tackling hard with West Ham.

With this in mind, supporters unhesitantly named Parker as the number one and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he "has to be", while another simply stated "obviously".

Wolves Transfers: 5 Strikers Nuno Espirito Santo's Side Could Realistically Sign This Summer

Wolves' impressive form since returning to the Premier League, simply put, wouldn't have been so sustainable if it wasn't for the goals of Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican forward has been spectacular since arriving in 2018, and boasts 22 goals and 10 assists to his name so far this season, in all competitions.

However, Jimenez's impressive start to life in the Premier League has attracted interest from a number of top clubs, and a move could leave Wolves looking to replace a lot of crucial goals. With the sale of flop Patrick Cutrone sanctioned in January this year, it is vital that Nuno Espirito Santo's side reinforce their forward options when possible.

Here's who Wolves should look to sign this summer, COVID-19 depending...

Aleksandar Mitrovic
A disappointing return to the Premier League in the 2018/19 campaign saw Fulham relegated back down to the Championship at the first time of asking. They've looked a different side under Scott Parker this season, however, and Aleksandar Mitrovic has been instrumental to their upturn in success.

The Serbian made a promising start to life in England with Newcastle, before joining Fulham on loan in January 2018 and making the switch permanent that summer.

Since then, Mitro has become a fan favourite at Craven Cottage, bagging 24 goals in the Championship so far this season. His form has been vital to Fulham and, depending on how the rest of the season plays out, could be what sends them back to the top flight.

Whether Fulham achieve promotion or not, there's no denying that the 25-year-old deserves another shot in the Premier League. His physicality is excellent and his on-the-ball ability allows him to score from a number of areas, making him the perfect option when feeding through forwards around him.

Whether he comes in as backup to Jimenez or steps up and forces his way into the starting XI, a move for Mitrovic could go down as a tremendous bit of business.

Potential Price: £27-35m

Andrea Belotti
Italian forward Andrea Belotti was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in 2017, but remained with Torino after nothing materialised. Since then, the 26-year-old has flown under the radar somewhat, which doesn't do him justice.

Belotti has bagged 85 goals and 18 assists in 179 appearances in all competitions for Torino, who he captains. A leader of men with an ability to find the back of the net, Belotti boasts fierce physical attributes and crisp accuracy in front of goal.

The Italian currently has nine Serie A goals this season, which isn't bad considering how far Torino have fallen and how little service he gets. If you can surround Belotti with equally as intelligent players and let him stay around the opposition box, he could score goals for fun in the English game.

With interest down on Belotti and Torino struggling, Wolves could snap him up for a reduced fee, despite the presence of an £87m release clause.

Potential Price: £37-45m

Emmanuel Dennis
The 22-year-old Nigerian was enjoying a stellar campaign before football came to a halt, but could yet be rewarded with a move to the English top flight.

Dennis has found the net nine times so far for Club Brugge this season, coming up with some important strikes in European competition against the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Pacy, technically sound and versatile, Dennis could slot well into Nuno's system, having played centrally and out wide for Club Brugge. He might not take the Premier League by storm immediately, but he could be a great addition to the Wolves squad for his versatility and could force his way into the starting XI.

He's been linked with Wanderers previously and his efforts have caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs including Sheffield United and Newcastle, so Nuno needs to act fast if he wants his signature.

Potential Price: £20-25m

Alassane Pléa
The Frenchman caught the eye of social media earlier this year when he scored that ridiculous volley in the Bundesliga, faking it with his right foot while letting the ball bounce off his standing foot and into the back of the net.

Alassane Pléa has more than just worldies to his game, however; the 27-year-old has been a consistent threat for Borussia Moenchengladbach since signing in 2018, and has eight goals and seven assists to his name this season as his side sit third in the Bundesliga.

Pléa isn't the fastest striker in the game, but he doesn't need to be when his reading of the play is so good, and his output just as impressive. Surrounded by the likes of Diogo Jota and Adama Traore, Wolves wouldn't need to worry about a lack of speed, instead enjoying ruthless attacking football with a well-rounded striker at the helm.

Pléa would no doubt take Wolves to new heights, but he would do so at a price. With Moenchengladbach paying Nice €25m for his services in 2018, it would no doubt be an advance on that.

Potential Price: £35-45m

André Silva
Realistically, this can't be considered a true Wolves transfer shortlist without including a Portuguese transfer target.

André Silva has had a tough go of things since moving to a struggling Milan team in 2017. After failing to make a sufficient impact in Serie A, Silva now finds himself on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Since signing on a two-year loan in September 2019, the 24-year-old has had a slow start, but by no means the worst one. In 26 total appearances, he's notched eight goals and four assists. Low on confidence after a tough time in Milan and a failed loan at Sevilla, it might take some time for the Portugal international to truly settle in.

However, there is no denying Silva's talent. He burst onto the scene at Porto which was what earned him the move initially, and he remains technically sound and agile.

A move to Wolves where he would link up with fellow Portugal teammates and play in a system surrounded by other forwards might just prove to be the restart his career needs.

Potential Price: £20-27m

Skillful Nigerian Winger Likened To Demarai Gray Agrees New Deal With Fulham

Skillful Nigeria-eligible winger tipped for big things, Michael Olakigbe has agreed a new deal with Championship promotion hopefuls Fulham ahead of the 2020-2021 season, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.

One of the most talented teenagers at the Fulham Academy in recent years, the Anglo-Nigerian starlet has been offered a two-year scholarship that will come into effect on July 1, 2020.

Although Olakigbe is classed as an U16 player, he has already debuted in the U18 Premier League, playing three games in total and scored in a 4-1 thrashing of Reading in February, before the Academy programme was curtailed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The former Queens Park Rangers starlet was an unused substitute for the U23 team in a 2-0 loss to Stoke City in January 2020.

A pacy winger with elegant dribbling skills, Olakigbe has drawn comparisons with Leicester City star Demarai Gray.

Olakigbe is a product of grassroots club based in East and South London, East Soccer Base Academy.
