Birth Certificate indicates that I was orn in Kingston on Thames but I cannot remember anything before life in Fulham. Lived in Rosebery Road, Bulow Road, Townmead Road  , Shorrolds Road and Parfrey Street so have a good knowledge of Fulham.
Married life has been in Ealing, Sudbury Hill, Sunbury and Shepperton so have always enjoyed the luxury of never been more than a hour or so away from the Cottage . There was a 2 year spel of National Service with posting in the Wirral, Wiltshire , Norfolk and Malaya which made watching the Whites difficult.

School was interesting, started at Lots Road in Chelsea but moved to Bagleys Lane in Fulham so there was a Fulham /Chelsea divide among the pupils, we tried hard to treat them as equals.

Born in Stanwell, Middlesex next to Heathrow Airport in 1963.  Had several houses in Ashford, Middlesex in the late 1980's and 90's before moving to Yateley on the north tip of Hampshire in 2001.  Fantastic place to live with a great community spirit and a small band of Fulham supporters.  Only downside of living here is the 90 minute journey to the cottage for most home games!  COYW's

Didn't think it would take an hour & a half from Yateley to Fulham. I can do Hillingdon to Basingstoke in 45 mins

Born in Perivale 1966 (parents from Hammersmith) moved about a bit locally finally landing in Hillingdon some 20 ish years ago. Would love to move to somewhere like Weymouth or Swanage.

Yet another born at Queen Charlotte's (1952).  Parents moved from the Bush to Ealing when I was tiny and stayed there throughout my school years (Walpole Grammar).  Work took me from Ealing to Cambridgeshire back to Ealing and then to Dubai. Retired last year and very happy in our lovely house in Ealing, no intention of going anywhere else as we would miss the City for culture and the Cottage for sport!

Born in '51 Parnell place Fulham (knocked down to make way for Clem Attlee Court) then to Ethel Rankin Court off Fulham Road. School in Bishops Park which was then St. Marks. Moved many times and places since leaving Fulham now in Wisbech Cambs.still get to the Cottage a few times each season.

This is fascinating.
Another one born in Queen Charlotte's, in 1967. Family lived un Teddington then Hampton until 1985. Went to Hampton School and was introduced to Fulham in about 1980 by a number of schoolmates and been a fan ever since. For a while about 20 of us would meet at Kingston bus garage on the Saturday lunchtime and get the 85 to Putney Bridge.
On the subject of Weymouth, my parents moved there in 1985 and really like it.
I went to University in 1985, and have lived in Basingstoke for over 30 years. If the trains are on time I can get from Basingstoke station to the Jolly Gardeners Putney in under an hour  082.gif

I think Fulham used the Lillie rec as their ground once. The Rec was also used for 5 a side football for kids on a Sunday morning.Does anyone know if it is still used for this purpose and did anyone play on the Rec from this forum?
Although I had moved to Putney I played in the Junior 5 a side for a team called Ward Wanderers as my uncle lived in Wardo Avenue. The Team mainly consisted of my New friends from Dover House Road.We were decent.

Born in Parsons Green maternity hospital 1955.
Went to Queens Manor primary school & St Marks C of E secondary.
Lived in Kingwood road.
Played at the Lillie road rec 5  a sides around 67 & 68 and won it.
Also played many times in the Fulham baths 5 a sides but could never get past the semi's.

First house bought in Tooting, then like many of my generation moved slowly out to Wallington, Epsom and Woking.
Now in Lincoln for the last 5 years and its great, some elements of life here are much like the London of my youth.

P.S.I would argue against the OP's comment that Fulham was a "complete dump", some parts of Fulham for sure but much of the borough was far from that.

I arrived in Hillingdon Hospital May 1945. Then Ruislip, Shanklin Isle of Wight, where I started school in 1950. Back to Northolt 1952. Then Fulham, Pinner and many schools until Hanwell 1955 and West Twyford Juniors, Park Royal. 1956 Stanhope Secondary Modern Greenford. 1972 moved to Birchington Kent. Best thing I ever did, all down to my long gone father. Wish I could thank him.

Fulham 442

Also born in Parson's Green maternity hospital, I believe it is now a walk in medical centre.  Lived in Town Hall Mansions and then moved to Bovingdon Road.  Dad, who was Fulham born and bred, worked, apart from his war service, at Fulham Town Hall, until his retirement.  Went to Christ Church school.  Moved to Richmond as a child and went to school in Putney.  Went into casinos at the age of 20 and stayed in the business until I took early retirement in 2016.  Always worked in London, apart from a 13 year stint  midway in South Africa working for Sun International.  Spent over 20 years in Kingston after coming back from Africa, so very handy for Craven Cottage!  Moved to Southern Spain last year.

Born in Bermondsey in 1957. I stayed there until 1976 and then moved to Bromley. From there onto the Gran Canaria for a Year and then to Dunstable. I spent a Year in St Lucia, back to Dunstable and now in Torrevieja Costa Blanca.

The supreme irony of the Fulham area now is that it is a very desirable place to live only for the wealthy and posh. What a turnaround!

Was born in 1951 and lived in Ringmer Ave for the first 14 years, not sure about Fulham being a dump not where I lived and hung out even though there were a few bomb sites. Moved to Wandsworth Bdge Rd after in the tower block opposite the Wandsworth Bdge Tavern. Went to school at Munster Rd then St Marks in Bishops Park. Moved out 1972 when I got married, couldn't afford Fulham to Mitcham. Stayed there for some years in two properties then moved to Windsor when work moved to Staines.

But parking is a nightmare.

Londonfranky

Similar to a few other contributors, born in Queen's Charlottes in 1953, lived in Notting Hill and Paddington until I was 11 moved to Roehampton/Putney, were I was introduced to the joys? of Fulham by  a mate who came from Fulham originally, his dad worked in Duckhams oil next door to the Cottage, meet my wife in Majorca in 1974 where all my mates went instead of going to Germany for the World Cup, moved to Cowley when we got married, moved to Hillingdon 20 years ago,

RAF_Fulham

Born and raised in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Followed the football club there from around 99 to 2007 when we went bust and became abit of a nomadic football follower.

Went to Southampton Solent University and spent 3 fantastic years there before joining the Royal Air Force. I've since been posted to Lincolnshire, where I spent 4 years, Northolt for a further 2 and last year moved onto High Wycombe. My partner rents on Kingwood, so I had started coming to the Cottage. Would love to move into a permanent address, but London is too much for us. I suspect a future move back to Lincolnshire will be on the horizon in the next 5 years, as its much more affordable for us.

The early part of the journey is fine and now they have sorted out the M3/M25 junction it's a lot better but up around Twickenham and Richmond can be a nightmare.  I guess on average it's probably closer to 75 minutes......just feels like 90  :005:

Teddymaybank
