When Liverpool win the title

It would be an utter farce to allow the Liverpool derby to be staged in Liverpool. Even before Johnson allowed people to meet up to 6 people, there was loads of pictures showing people ignoring social distancing and this number will only increase.

I don't blame them, I blame the government. Lockdown took too late to be called and was ended too early before track and trace was working (it still isn't working). The stay alert message is completely meaningless.

Ultimately football should be staged at neutral venues as much as possible. There will always be some begrudgement from teams that had already played the away fixture and can't now benefit from having the crowd behind them for the home fixture. Playing games in their home stadium makes no difference anyway if the crowd is banned.

Where it will make a difference is it will increase the r rate, as fans will inevitably gather outside the stadium and some are bound to have Covid, especially given they might be asymptomatic.  We have to put public health first.

Play all games as planned.

I have every faith in most fans  not to come out on the streets, and to act responsibly.

The police will be there to deal with the possible minority who do this.

FulhamStu

Make it public knowledge that if home fans turn up in numbers, then the club will have to play all remaining games at other venues.  This of course become less effective as the games run out !

RaySmith

At least now we know that we don't have to obey any lockdown rules - they are just a guide and  we can  just use our own discretion.

And/or as suggested in another post their club could be deducted points for the next season.

I imagine the police will be well prepared and capable of handling the situation.
A problem is that because of the current demo's and associated political situation the police will be severely restricted in how they can act for fear of further criticism.

I dont see many face masks in the pictures

Lets all hope they go to the beaches today just to make sure they get the virus

They deserve it 100%. It breaks the 'monopoly' of the 'usual suspects'. The London clubs are 'floundering' at the moment.

When teams like Leicester win the title you can talk of breaking up the monopoly of the usual suspects.  Liverpool are very much part of the self-entitled elite.

Can't argue that they aren't elite though can we!
19 x League title
7x FA Cip
8 x League Cup
6 x champions league
3 x uefa cup
1 x club world cup

Not to mention the Lancashire League in 1892-93  :54:

I'm pleased for them. Klopp is a great manager and comes across as a great man. They play exciting, aggressive, attacking football. To pick themselves up after coming so close last year is remarkable. If you add the two seasons together, I'm not sure there's been a more consistent side over an 18 month or so period ever? Phenomenal.

I'm getting a bit fed up with the (expected) media love-in today.  I'm having to switch channels on both TV and radio.

Mind you, 30 years is a long wait - though 141 years is longer.

the worst government of all time choose to back Dominic Cummings over the people and try to rewrite the rules. So, you know, c'est la vie..

Well done for pivoting back off the subject of football, on to Covid-19, and then from there on to politics

Why don't we just agree that you don't like the government, and then in 9 years time when we get a new government, maybe we can pick up the conversation again...

Woolly Mammoth

In the match the other night, Liverpool v Crystal Palace, there were 4 pundits on Sky, all Ex Liverpool Rednapp, Carragher, Barnes and Sourness.
Not a single pundit from Palace or even a neutral pundit.
No impartiality and they present it as a badge of honour, shameless but not surprising, and jobs for the boys.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

.

Given that almost all of this thread is very little to do with football and mostly to do with Covid and your own thinly veiled racist comments, one small line in a very football post is surely par for the course. Why don't we just agree that you don't like non-white people campaigning for equal rights and pick up this in x amount of years whenever that is in place in society?

The people that were jumping on a police car in Brixton yesterday are at least a couple of generations from integration into civilised society. Nonetheless, yes, happy for you to pick this thread back up in 40 odd years, if we're both still alive

Look, I think by now it's clear we have completely opposing views on these type of things (especially this comment!). Polar opposites in fact. But, strangely, where Fulham are concerned I've always found your views and posts on here are the closest match to my my own. Shall we just call a truce and keep it Fulham?

Let's beat Leeds tomorrow, get promoted, then I will break lockdown and social distancing rules to celebrate and you can call me a hypocrite/champagne socialist/whatever and all will be right in the world again x

Last night they had Smith and Campell both EX Arsenal , no pretence at balance

In terms of the title, my approach has always been ABC but this has been severely tested. Having turned off SKY's love in numerous times, I think I'll need to extend it to Anyone But Ch*lsea or Liverpool.

Well they haven't won it for 30 years, so I'd say the only 'monopoly' they had was the board game.

You need to stick some dates in there (not the fruit variety). Then we can argue about their 'elite status'.
