Former Bristol City and Fulham defender Liam Rosenior backs toppling of Edward Colston statue

The Derby County coach went to Colston's school in Bristol and has celebrated the moment the statue of the slave trader was pulled down by Black Lives Matter protesters

Former Bristol City full-back Liam Rosenior has celebrated the toppling of the statue of Bristol slave trader Edward Colston.

Black Lives Matter protesters pulled down the statue during a demonstration on Sunday (June 7) and threw the statue into the harbour, prompting celebrations from BAME figures across the world.

The likes of rapper Ice Cube and Bristol group Massive Attack spoke out to support the actions of the protesters and Rosenior, who started his career with the Robins and attended Colston's school in the city, and joined those celebrating the fall of the statue.

He tweeted to say: "My name is Liam Rosenior (slave name). I lived in Bristol as child. I attended COLSTONS (slave owner and killer) primary school in order to receive my "education". Pardon me for enjoying this moment of irony."

Rosenior come through the youth ranks at Bristol City before breaking into the first team. He played for one season before signing for Fulham in 2003.

He is currently a first team coach at Derby County under Phillip Cocu.

He has been a supporter of the Black Lives Matter protests on social media and last week penned an open letter to Donald Trump in the Guardian newspaper, condemning the US President for his racist behaviour following the death of George Floyd in America.

Bristol mayor Marvin Rees discussed the toppling of the statue, and in a statement said: "It's important to listen to those who found the statue to represent an affront to humanity and make the legacy of today about the future of our city, tackling racism and inequality.

"I call on everyone to challenge racism and inequality in every corner of our city and wherever we see it."

However the likes of Priti Patel and former Chancellor Sajid Javid have condemned the actions of the protesters, with Patel calling the falling of the slave trader 'utterly disgraceful'.

Club aware of Fulham loanee's intention to extend stay – Working on transfer formula

Last summer, Fulham allowed André-Frank Zambo Anguissa to join Villarreal on a season-long loan deal and the latter retain an option to make the 24-year-old's transfer permanent.

On March 19th, AS reported the La Liga side can buy the Cameroon international for €25m this summer.

It was also explained the midfielder's continuity with the Spanish club beyond this campaign is 'very difficult', even if the Championship side reduce his asking price.

Monday's edition of AS once again states the €25m fee complicates Villarreal's chances of signing the player on a permanent deal.

However, the newspaper's headline reads 'Anguissa wants to stay' and within the report, it's explained sources close to the club do not rule out his continuity.

The Yellow Submarine know first-hand about the player's 'predisposition' to extend his stay with them and the former now want to use it to their advantage.

According to the report, Villarreal are not only looking for a 'price reduction', but are also exploring other possibilities. One of them includes extending his loan stay for next season, with an option to make the transfer permanent in 2021.

AS doesn't mention whether or not Fulham are ready to accept any of these conditions proposed by Villarreal for Anguissa's transfer.

Championship season to restart with Brentford against Fulham on June 20 while leaders Leeds United will take on Cardiff on first Sunday back

The Championship will finally return to action on the weekend of June 20
Return will see Brentford against Fulham before West Brom take on Birmingham
Championship leaders Leeds then face Cardiff on the following day at 12pm

The Championship season will restart with Brentford's west London derby against Fulham on June 20 before Leeds United face Cardiff a day later.

That opening clash could have huge ramifications for the promotion race, given Fulham, in third, will need a win against the fourth-placed Bees to keep up with Leeds, who are seven points clear.

West Brom, second, will then face Birmingham at 3pm on the Saturday in the second televised game of the day before Leeds' clash on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds, who are hoping to end a 16-year spell outside of the Premier League by winning promotion, will play Cardiff at 12pm.

The next Sunday will see Bristol City take on Sheffield Wednesday at midday and Nottingham Forest host Huddersfield Town at 2.15pm.

Every side in the Championship has nine games left to play of the regular season before the play-offs at the start of August, with matches to take place behind closed doors.

Brentford and Fulham's clash will restart a season that is expected to be finished on July 22.

Leeds and West Brom are in the automatic promotion spots and on course for promotion, with the Baggies having the chance to climb into first when they play Birmingham on the Saturday.

The battle for the promotion places and play-offs in the Championship ahead of the restart

The games on June 20 will represent the first Championship clashes since Derby against Blackburn on March 8, when the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Other matches that weekend include Blackburn Rovers against Bristol City, Hull City's relegation six-pointer with Charlton Athletic and Preston's trip to Luton Town.

Sky Sports will be able to broadcast 45 games live after reaching a deal with the EFL, which will be 30 from the Championship and 15 from the play-offs in other divisions.

The other 78 Championship games will be made available to clubs to stream on their own websites for £10 or free to season ticket holders.

The broadcaster will not be allowed to show more than six matches per club, giving each a minimum of three for live streams.

Championship: Fulham v Brentford set to be first match on 20 June return

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Championship's leading scorer in 2019-20

Fulham's match against Brentford is scheduled to be the first Championship game to be played when the second-tier resumes on 20 June.

No Championship fixtures have been played since 8 March because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the EFL's restart date is provisional, subject to safety requirements being met.

The two promotion rivals will meet in a 12:30 BST kick-off.

Leaders Leeds United will return to action against Cardiff on 21 June.

West Bromwich Albion, who are second in the table, will face local rivals Birmingham City in one of nine 15:00 BST kick-offs on Saturday, 20 June.

The full revised Championship schedule was released by the English Football League on Monday.

There will be no midweek fixtures on 23-24 June, but full rounds scheduled every subsequent midweek until the final matches of the regular season, which are set to be played on Wednesday, 22 July.

The play-offs are expected to follow, with 2 or 3 August targeted as a potential date for the final.

Championship set for return after 104 days away

Derby's 3-0 win over Blackburn on 8 March was the final Championship game to be played before elite football in England was suspended.

The EFL announced their target restart date on 31 May, which was "subject to the strict proviso that all safety requirements and government guidance are met; and that clubs receive clearance from their local authorities in order to stage matches at their home grounds".

The outstanding 108 regular-season matches will be played behind closed doors.

Supporters will be able to watch all games either on Sky Sports, which will broadcast 30 matches, on the EFL's iFollow streaming service or via club equivalents.

Season-ticket holders will be able to watch all of their club's remaining regular-season games.

Players at Championship clubs were permitted to return to training on 25 May, firstly in a non-contact environment in small groups, and have since moved onto the next phase allowing larger groups and closer contact.

The outcomes of League One and League Two should become much clearer on Tuesday, when EFL clubs are due to vote on a framework for deciding their interrupted season.

Once a framework has been agreed, individual divisions will vote on whether they wish to continue or curtail their seasons.

Those in League Two have already indicated that they wish to end the campaign at its current point, but League One clubs have, as yet, been unable to reach a consensus.

Fulham to face Brentford in first match when Championship resumes

(Reuters) - Promotion hopefuls Fulham and Brentford will kick off the action at Craven Cottage when the second-tier Championship season resumes on June 20 following the COVID-19 disruption, the English Football League (EFL) said on Monday.

Second-placed West Bromwich Albion will host Birmingham City later that day, while league leaders Leeds United visit ninth-placed Cardiff City on June 21 in the EFL's revised schedule for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

The EFL said in a statement here that the three matches would be live on Sky Sports on the opening weekend, with a further eight games selected for coverage by the broadcaster in the next two rounds following the restart.

Season ticket holders will be able to watch all home and away games as they will be streamed live on club websites.

Soccer in England has been suspended since mid-March due to the novel coronavirus pandemic but the EFL had said earlier this month that it planned to restart the season on June 20 with games being played without fans in attendance.

The provisional date was subject to all safety requirements and government guidance being met and clubs receiving clearance from their local authorities to stage home matches.

Leeds United are top with 71 points after 37 matches, one point ahead of West Brom. There are nine rounds of matches left.

Fulham, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Preston North End occupy the playoff spots while Charlton Athletic, Luton Town and Barnsley are the bottom three.

Spanish club exploring possibilities over summer deal for Fulham man

Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is reportedly keen to extend his stay at Villareal and the Spanish club are understood to be exploring possibilities over making a deal happen.

The 24-year-old joined the La Liga outfit on a season-long loan last summer and has made 28 appearances in total this term.

It is understood Villareal have the option of making his stay permanent at the end of the season but that the €25 million (£22.3m) asking price is proving an obstacle.

According to a report from Spanish newspaper AS (via Sport Witness), Zambo Anguissa wants to stay at Villareal and the La Liga club are looking to use that to their advantage.

The report claims that the Spanish side are pushing for Fulham to drop their asking price, as well as exploring other possibilities, such as taking him on loan for another season with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Fulham's stance on these latest developments is unknown but it appears there may be other suitors, as Real Madrid have been linked with a move.

Zambo Anguissa joined the west London club ahead of their return to the Premier League in 2018 and has made 25 appearances for them in total.

The Verdict

This is an interesting update as it appears the Spanish club have their heart set on a move for the midfielder but cannot stretch to the £22.3 million price tag.

Having arrived as Fulham's club-record signing, things just didn't work out for Zambo Anguissa at Craven Cottage – hence his loan move this term – so it will be interesting to see what their approach is.

Offloading him seems the right move and you'd imagine given the current global circumstances and the player's desire to remain away from the west London club, they may somewhat flexible.

Championship: Leeds United v Fulham among games to look out for in run-in

Tom Cairney's Fulham, who are third, play each of the other sides that make up the Championship's top four

With 108 matches scheduled to be played across just 33 days, teams in the Championship are already preparing for a "tournament-like" finale to the season.

It was confirmed on Monday that, after more than three months away because of the coronavirus pandemic, second-tier football will return on 20 June with a London derby between Fulham and Brentford.

That match, between two local rivals both battling for a place in the Premier League, is arguably one of the must-watch fixtures of the run-in - but where else could the fight for promotion and relegation be decided?

BBC Sport picks out the games to look out for between now and the final day on 22 July.

Round 38: Saturday, 20 June (12:30 BST)

This west London derby sees two of the most potent at attacking units meet as third plays fourth.

But, while you might look at it purely as Aleksandar Mitrovic, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Tom Cairney up against Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma and Bryan Mbeumo, it's a game that could have a big say in the automatic promotion fight.

Fulham will go into the game six points behind second-placed West Bromwich Albion, with the Bees four points further back in fourth.

The Baggies face a Birmingham City side without a win in six games in the same round - so if Fulham fail to get three points, there could be a nine-point gap between the top two and the rest with eight games to go.

Round 38: Saturday, 20 June (15:00 BST)

If ever there was a "must-not-lose" game to kick off the run-in, it's this one.

Hull City are two points above Charlton Athletic, who occupy the final relegation place, but were in awful form prior to the suspension.

The Tigers took just two points from 11 games and, having sold Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki in January, they appeared to be heading in only one direction when football stopped in March.

The Addicks, however, have concerns of their own.

Star striker Lyle Taylor will not play again in order to protect himself for "a life-changing" summer move, while the battle for control of the club at boardroom level rumbles on.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer said in May that it would be "scandalous" if a points-per-game system was used to decide the Championship table - partly because they still had this fixture to play.

And so, if the season was still unable to be played to a conclusion, this one could yet prove doubly important.

Round 39: Saturday, 27 June (15:00 BST)

Another week, another big game for Fulham - and the automatic promotion places in general.

Two wins in a row for Scott Parker's men could theoretically see them move to within one point of table-topping Leeds United, while two successive losses would likely all but end any hopes they have of making the top two.

The importance of this game is exacerbated further by the fact that Brentford face second-placed West Bromwich Albion in the same round.

There's a good chance that within eight days of the resumption, we'll know whether we're in for a promotion race of epic proportions... or a stroll to the line for Leeds and West Brom.

Round 44: Tuesday, 14th July (15:00 BST)

Fulham have featured heavily in our must-watch games, not only because they're right in the mix for automatic promotion but also because they face each of the other teams in the top four.

Three games from the end of the season, they are set to face the Baggies in what could be a crucial match.

Could Albion be closing in on the title? Might this game seal Leeds and West Brom as the top two? Could Fulham be about to go top after a run of wins?

It is difficult to tell without a crystal ball but, with both sides having played six games and with nine points left to play for, this match might have huge implications on who moves up to the Premier League.

Round 45: Saturday, 18 July (both 15:00 BST)

As it stands six points separate Wigan Athletic, Hull City, Charlton Athletic and Luton Town - the four clubs occupying the final two relegation places and the two spots immediately above.

How important, then, will the penultimate round of fixtures be when this potential relegation double header takes place?

Luton will have had time to get used to the returning Nathan Jones in their dugout, and if he can sprinkle some of the magic he spread during his first spell in charge, then it would be easy to see an argument for the Hatters getting closer to safety.

Will Hull still be in the relegation mire or could a victory over Charlton earlier on have seen the Tigers get their teeth back?

Right now, Wigan are just two points above the relegation zone, but their fans will point to their relatively kind run of fixtures post restart - their only game against a top-six side before this round is against Brentford.

Round 46: Wednesday, 22nd July (TBC)

Again, plenty could have changed by the time Bristol City and Preston North End lock horns on the final day of the campaign - but if the table then looks like it does now, then all eyes will be on their meeting.

The sixth-placed Lilywhites and seventh-placed Robins are currently separated by just one point and this could prove a straight shootout for the final play-off spot.

However, even Swansea City in 11th are only three points off the top six, so who knows how things will look come 22 July?

Seasonal Hospitality purchasers will be contacted by a member of the Club's Hospitality Team, who will advise of the process and the options available to them.

As always, we thank supporters for their unwavering support and patience.
Please continue to follow Government advice, look after yourselves and others. We hope to be able to welcome you back to Craven Cottage as soon as it is safe to do so.

OPTION 1 - ACCESS TO LIVE MATCHES ON FFCtv

In line with the EFL's announcement last Friday, the Club is pleased to be able to provide Season Ticket Holders with access to watch all of Fulham's remaining nine Championship fixtures – home and away – live on FFCtv.

With a minimum four-camera coverage and commentary from Gentleman Jim & Jamie Reid at each match, fans will be able to tune in and watch the exciting finale of the Club's league campaign from their own home.

Season Ticket Holders choosing to watch the live matches will be issued with a free code to be redeemed in advance of the first game. Details of how to sign up and the steps required to redeem free access will be issued to supporters next week. Matches can be watched online at tv.fulhamfc.com or via the FFCtv App.

See terms and conditions here.

OPTION 2 - PRO-RATA CREDIT FOR 20/21 SEASON

A credit is available, pro-rated against the total price paid for your Season Ticket and the four final home fixtures from the 2019/20 season (i.e. 4/23 of the price paid for a 2019/20 Season Ticket).

This credit will be applied to supporters' ticketing account and can be redeemed by renewing for the 2020/21 season.

Choosing this option does not provide access to FFCtv. Should supporters have any queries regarding their credit balance, they can contact the Fulham Ticket Office on 0203 871 0810 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm).

See terms and conditions here.

OPTION 3 - RECEIVE A PRO-RATA REFUND

Alternatively, any supporters wishing to request a pro-rata refund (equating to 4/23 of the price paid for your 2019/20 Season Ticket) can do so.

Refunds will be processed back onto the original payment card used when the Season Ticket was purchased. We aim to begin to process any refunds from Wednesday 17th June and this can take up to 30 days to appear into your account.

Season Ticket Holders who purchased in person at the Ticket Office either by cash or card or via post by cheque, will be contacted if a refund is requested as we will require them to provide their BACs details. Additionally, any supporters who purchased via the Club's finance provider V12 and request a refund will be contacted separately.

Again, this option does not include access to FFCtv.

OPTION 4 - DONATE TO FULHAM FC FOUNDATION

Finally, supporters can request to donate their credit to our charity, Fulham FC Foundation.

During this difficult time Fulham FC Foundation has supported, and will continue to support, the local community with a variety of initiatives in areas of health, wellbeing and inclusion.

Over the last three months specifically, this has included the provision of over 3,000 meals to people in the local community, contacting vulnerable people locally through a telephone befriending service and delivering over 100 hours of online learning/support through their health, disability and inclusion programmes.

Any donations are appreciated and will help continue to support the most vulnerable.

This option is specifically for supporters who wish to gift their refund to Fulham FC Foundation and do not require access to FFCtv. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of your parent/legal guardian to make this donation.

When and where Leeds United can win Premier League promotion with nine games left

EFL has confirmed Leeds United's final nine matches of 2019/20

Abacuses have been dusted off in light of EFL's long-awaited announcement on Leeds United's remaining fixtures and fans are working out when promotion may finally come.

At the outset, we will assume the season is finished from here on out, with all the Championship's sides playing their remaining nine matches out to a full conclusion.

The Whites will begin at Cardiff City with a noon kick-off a week on Sunday, from there it is Fulham, Luton Town, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City, Swansea City, Barnsley, Derby County and Charlton Athletic.

How soon could they win promotion? The very earliest, mathematically, they could clinch their place in the Premier League would be after beating Blackburn at Ewood Park on July 4.

The above scenario is assuming all of United's rivals have the worst possible starts and they have the best possible start.

Ignore West Bromwich Albion, they complicate the maths.

Assume Fulham lose their first four on the bounce.

Assume Brentford beat Fulham in their first match back, but then lose their next three.

Assume Nottingham Forest lose their first four on the bounce.

In short, beating Blackburn would make it 12 points from 12 and stretch a gap of 19 points back to Fulham with only 15 left to play for. It's possible, but improbable.

Let's look at other scenarios. Assuming United and Fulham match each other's results until the end, including a draw in their own meeting, when would the Cottagers run out of road?

If they trade blows and sustain the current seven-point gap, United would clinch promotion at Elland Road, at home to Barnsley, on July 14 when there would be only six points left to play for.

If you want my actual prediction , then I'm going for the Barnsley game. There will be twists and turns along the way, regardless of how impressive the Whites looked before the lockdown.

There are so many unknowns with the fitness of United, their rivals and how they all cope with this hectic schedule in empty, soulless stadiums.

I don't think the away trips to Cardiff, Blackburn or Swansea should be underestimated, given what they are fighting for in their own grounds.

Neither should Fulham be underestimated and what they may be able to put together if they build up a head of steam, especially if they nick anything at Elland Road.

If the Whites are going to get it done, I'd stick my neck out with the Barnsley game under the lights, or possibly the Swansea game three days earlier.
