So four points from 9 games isn't pathetic? You must be easily pleased. We should have at least 12 minimum

We had three pre-season games against top-division clubs (FC Porto, Brighton and West Ham) with only two pre-season games against clubs in the lower-tiers of football (Cambridge United and Oxford United). Given last season, we focused a lot on playing similar or better teams than us, pre-season should have been focused on beating teams playing for a draw or trying to maintain the scoreline.

It is very rare for a team to get 2.15 points per game (i.e. >=99 points) for the season, but we need close to 90 points for the season for automatic promotion.

Getting 2.15 points per game against the top 17 teams only gets Fulham 69 points, which still requires another 21 points out of 42 points against the bottom seven to get 90 points.

Getting 3 points per game against the top 7 teams gets 42 points, which requires another 48 points in the remaining 32 games.  This is where the easy points are but a team needs to be able to breakdown the low block and defended against the counter attack, like Norwich last season.
