As far as I'm aware, it is Lillie Whites as we used to train at The Rec at Lillie Road many moons ago.

You may be confusing Lillie road rec with Lillie bridge which was one of many early places we played

blingo

Either way bill, you agree it's Lillie?

Any team that plays in white have been called Lillywhites as in the flower colour, our original colours were dark and light blue halves, then we adopted red with white sleeves, then the white shirt.

wasn't Lilywhites a shop?
Yes, a high class sports shop at Picadilly Circus.
I thought our Lilly White refered to the nice colour of the flower.

Always been the Lilywhites ever since I was a lad many decades ago. Playing in white got them that name as also it did for Preston and Tottenham. I can recall my old man calling Come on you Lilywhites in the 50s and 60s.
Similarly we've been the Cottagers for ever and a day. Only current day meanings have spoiled that nickname.

It is Lillywhites and refers to the colour of our strip as others have said. Nice idea that it referred to the Lillie Road but it was the white shirts.
