Fulham to consider loan offers for McDonald and Johansen

Fulham are willing to consider loan offers for Kevin McDonald and Stefan Johansen after completing the signings of Mario Lemina and Harrison Reed from Southampton, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League newcomers announced the arrival of Gabon international Lemina, who joined on a season-long loan, and Reed, who has moved from St. Mary's permanently after a successful loan spell at Craven Cottage last term, earlier this evening. That double deal, paired with the potential addition of Florentino Luis from Benfica on loan, means that Scott Parker has a host of midfield options at his disposal ahead of the new campaign.

The Whites are now likely to see whether experienced campaigners Johansen and McDonald could find some first-team football elsewhere. Johansen has been linked with a possible move to Galatasaray, who have seen their attempts to sign Jean Michael Seri rebuffed so far, and will be keen to play more regularly in order to retain his place in the Norway midfield. The 29 year-old has made 134 appearances for Fulham since signing from Celtic four years ago, but mainly featured as a substitute after the Championship's resumption following the coronavirus pandemic.

McDonald, a popular member of the playing staff who is currently taking his coaching badges, made just eighteen appearances for Fulham this year and may face another season on the sidelines at Craven Cottage, having featured just sixteen times the last time the Whites were in the Premier League. The 31 year-old, who has won promotion from the Championship three times, would likely attract a number of offers from the second tier.

Fulham have signed Southampton outcast Mario Lemina on a season-long loan deal

Director of football operations Tony Khan revealed Fulham's management team have tracked Lemina for some time.

'Mario Lemina has top-flight experience throughout Europe, including in the Premier League, and I'm very excited to announce his arrival on loan,' said Khan.

'I chose to pursue Mario this summer because in our recruitment conferences he's been highly rated by our scouting team and our head coach Scott Parker, and our statistical research team.

'I believe he will thrive for our club under Scott's coaching and leadership.'

Lemina joined Southampton from Juventus in an £18million deal in 2017, but his last Saints appearance was back in May 2019.

The former France Under-21 star is relishing the chance to work with boss Parker at Fulham.

'Now I'm with Fulham, I'm really happy and I'm glad to be part of the project,' said Lemina.

'I spoke with the manager and he's got some good ideas about the team, about the project, about everything he wants to do this season, and I'm happy to be a part of it.'

Harrison Reed completes permanent move from Saints to Fulham

SAINTS academy graduate Harrison Reed has completed a permanent transfer to Fulham.

The midfielder, 25, spent last season on loan at the Cottagers, helping them clinch promotion to the Premier League.

And he has now tonight made that move permanent in a deal reportedly worth £8million.

Reed played 28 times for Fulham last season, including all three matches of the play-offs.

He joins Mario Lemina at the west London club, with the Saints midfielder joining on a season-long loan this evening.

Discussing Reed's departure, a post on the Saints website said: "The club would like to thank him for all his hard work and dedication throughout his time both as an academy and first-team player and we wish him all the best for the future."

After coming up through the ranks, Reed featured 30 times for Saints at senior level, making his debut in 2013.

Fulham sign midfielders Reed, Lemina from Southampton

(Reuters) - Fulham have strengthened their midfield ahead of the new Premier League season by signing Harrison Reed and Mario Lemina from Southampton.

Reed, who spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Fulham, had signed a four-year contract with the option to extend by a year, the club said.

"It's going to be an exciting season, it's a big challenge this year, but I can't wait to get going. I'm absolutely delighted to be here," he told the club website.

The 25-year-old was an integral part of Scott Parker's promotion-winning side and played every minute of their three Championship play-off games.

Lemina arrives on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The Gabon international joined Southampton from Juventus in 2017 and was loaned out to Turkish club Galatasaray last season.

"I'm glad to be part of the project. I spoke with the manager and he's got some good ideas about the team, about everything he wants to do this season," Lemina said.

Fulham begin their Premier League campaign at home against FA Cup champions Arsenal on Sept. 12.

Report: Fulham hold talks to sign Florentino Luis

Fulham are showing keen interest in signing Florentino Luis, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Cottagers have held talks with Benfica over the deal for the midfielder.

Fulham are offering around £2m for a loan fee with the option to buy the midfielder for £25m.

The newly-promoted Premier League club have signed two players from Southampton, with Mario Lemina joining on a season-long loan, while Harrison Reed has joined on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan at Craven Cottage.

The 20-year-old is a traditional central midfielder but Scott Parker could make the best use of his exciting style of play by using him in advanced roles.

He fell out of favour towards the end of the season, and therefore an exit could be on the cards this summer.

Back in July, it was reported that Leeds were heavily interested in signing him.

The Whites were very serious about the deal, and they held a discussion with the player's representatives.

However, it seems Leeds have cooled their interest in the higly-rated young midfielder.

Leeds have already signed Rodrigo from Valencia on a club-record deal, while they are also in talks to sign De Paul from Udinese.

Fulham duo look set to leave after double signing

Midfielders Stefan Johansen and Kevin McDonald could be on their way out of Fulham following the signings of Harrison Reed and Mario Lemina.

The Whites have completed deals to bring in Reed and Lemina from Southampton.

And Fulham will listen to offers for Johansen (pictured) and McDonald, who would need to move on in order to play regular first-team football.

A number of clubs are aware of their availability and have expressed some interest.

Reed, 25, impressed while on loan from the Saints last season, helping Fulham win promotion back to the Premier League.

The club have taken up an option to buy him him for £8m.

He has signed a four-year contract and been joined at Craven Cottage by fellow midfielder Lemina.

Gabon international Lemina, 26, has been out of favour at Southampton for some time and was on loan at Galatasaray last season.

Lemina has joined Fulham on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.
