Tete has been impressive, not sure about Lemina though. MLM has looked very good somehow...

Agreed.   But to be fair...I don't know if Lemina playing deep is what we want.  imo it's why I would still like for us to bring in Luis, or at least a cheaper CDM to be Reed's backup.  Currently Reed's backup is Kmac.

Well...I'd have him as a regular sub...but he/BDR/Cav are the Championship trifecta.   They aren't starting EPL players.   None of them imo

I thought Lemina has been decent. he's dropping deep to get the ball and is bringing it forward and looking to make a pass. Unfortunately our wingers aren't really helping him with options but I like how he and Anguissa are dictating play in the middle, where unsurprisingly we're bossing the game

It's a makeshift 4-3-2-1 apparently, and it shows. Link up play isn't there.
Some thoughts:
- Our new full backs have started well. Robinson looks especially handy going forward - at last some competition for Bryan
- MLM, outstanding cross to setup start the move for the goal. Solid enough
- Knockers is being carried, too predictable and no results
- Tete hasnt shown enough for me. Think we still have an RB issue...
- Lemina also looked a little lost but its a crowded middle third
- SP needs to slot Zambo into the first team. Class above today, playing like a captain :o/
- BDR, what is his best position? Seems to have been given licence today but hasnt been effective just yet IMO
- Ipswich are defending and pressing well all over the pitch

Knockaert needs some serious shooting practice.

You mean like an entire season in the Championship?  Yeah...practice isn't helping him in our attack.    We need better finishers up top to play with Mitro.

If opposing teams can double up Mitro, and our other two wingers aren't clinical...

I don't rate Knockaert and agree he's unlikely to get any better.

Positives in the first half...

Tete...we've probably got our starting RB.  (Gotta mean Cyrus is gone on loan)
Zambo...other than Mitro he's the other noticeable EPL level player on the pitch.
Robinson...looked a little rushed at times, but getting forward and overlapping with Kebano.
MLM...going to give him an ok mark.  Dodgy back pass to the keeper but solid otherwise.
Odoi...not really challenged with Tete defending well on the right.
Mitro...duh

Questionable...
Lemina...to be fair...he's not a CDM
Kebano...  he's  OK???   Does what he does...but he's not beating most defenders off dribble.   If we aren't getting free kicks is he really a starter?

Do not like...
Knock...if he can't finish he's not a threat and shouldn't play near the top.
BDR...unfortunately...same.

Both these players have to be able to score in a Mitro driven attack, and they can't.   We saw it all last season.   Today, we're playing Ipswich.

What happens if injuries set in and we have to play BDR, Knock and Cav long minutes this season.   Is anyone confident either of those 3 will provide goals if Mitro gets man marked out of a game?   Are any of those 3 set piece threats?

Sorry...I got of topic....   Thought our new signings were good.

Some of our squad from last season though...I have no confidence in.

You confused me there.   What has Tete done wrong?   He's used his pace to defend and he got the assist on Mitro's goal.

I thought he was one of our better players that half.

We need to win 4-0
We also need to keep shooting
We look comfortable on the ball but keep trying to walk it into the net.
We are catching them again and agin on the offside trap ( which we never can do in the PL)
New players ,playing together in a game for the first time....if they smash some into the net it will be great for confidence.
Mitro should come off to keep him safe for Saturday

We really need to evolve our game. All too often we just pass without penetration, this is because there's not enough movement and thus no forward ball. I don't think it's purely down to a lack of quality players, this is where Scott needs to work on the tactics.

We need to pass and move, pass and move. That's how you create chances and get goals.

8 shots - two on target. Knockaert has been wasteful - anguissa had a very good attempted shot from a corner which went wide.

One thing I've noticed is how poor we are from corners.

But that has been the problem since pre-season before last.   Yes, it's a product of Scott's offense and some of our players not being able to work within it.

Agree with what you're saying...but now I'm trying to figure out a solution now that we're in a league where it's going to be much harder for Mitro to score.

Same as last season.
