Let's be honest, following yesterday's news that the government is going to pander to ByTheRiver types and try (albeit inevitable they'll fail anyway) to keep us wrapped in cotton wool for another six months, we're probably not going to be allowed to attend a single game this season, and by the time fans are allowed back, we'll be back in the Championship and in the meantime Brentford will have been promoted. We may as well not have bothered with the play-off final (which we also didn't get to go to anyway)

Bloody hell,  triggered much?!  064.gif

It was a throwaway comment at the end of a sarcastic response to this. Come on, mate. I'm not loving the news anymore than you I suspect but let's park the politics. I'll delete the Boris joke at the end if that helps?

I think there's a certain amount of posturing. So later on posters can say "told you so." It's an easier position to be in, than predicting a positive outcome.
Last time round I really can't remember anybody complaining about the signings or doubting Slavisa's abilities to keep us up. It's going.to be a tough season. We certainly have weaknesses and the difficulties Scott faced last season are nothing compared to what he's going.to be facing this season.
Would becoming a yoyo team be that bad? Tk's held on to Marcus and Alfie through loans and they're playing in a division we may return to. Scott mentioned the team last time round suffered from the expectation that they were losers. So I doubt that will be allowed to happen again.
I hope they all do well. As long as each and everyone at the Club goes out each day with the belief that they're going to be at their best. Then that's all we can ask.

Agree it is early days and we have to give Parker and the players time to get things together.

However most of us are losing patience because we haven't brought in a couple of quality players in positions where they are obviously needed and that window deadline is getting too close for comfort.

Absolutely.

And I don't think it's negativity, it's realism.

People comparing us to Leeds are neglecting the fact that they were infinitely better than us last season, and have strengthened their defence with Koch and their forwards with Rodrigo - who is a Spanish international who has scored and assisted in La Liga & Champions League.

Given that they lost Ben Gibson I would argue that they are weaker in defense than last season. Koch may of course end up being a good buy, but he has looked like a smaller version of Hector (the PL one) these first two games, so the jury is very much still out on him. Rodrigo is decent, but has a far from good scoring record for a forward. Leeds started with a squad lacking in both quality and quantity and will be in the relegation scrap all season unless all the pieces falls into place. Kind of like us, but we have more quantity maybe with our additions (although the jury is very much still out on those as well).

While I think a team that comes up via the play offs and has a record short turn around before the Prem season started, are bound to go down. It doesn't mean that the opinion is depressing. What is depressing is the constant attacks after every game on players or coaches or owners or owner's sons.

Suddenly players who were good are now shocking and embarrassing according to our experts. Parker should never have been given a contract and a better manager should have come in. Our owner is an idiot allowing his son to take charge and we still don't have a decent team.

Suddenly a 1-0 win against Ipswich and players were being written up. Then back to normal against Leeds.

Discussions and debates and wondering where our better centre half will ever come is not depressing. Moaning about our best defender and saying he isn't good enough and wanting a whole new team after saying we should give players a chance. Well yes that is depressing.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

I like everyone else realise it is early days  but have been imensely disapointed with the manner of the first two games and the nature of the signings. The players we have brought might be OK but we all know where the big weaknesses are and they have yet to be addressed. We see other teams similarly placed picking up good quality players that would have doone us some good and we are linked with ones that seem to have very little or no premiership experience.

It certainly feels like deja vu .

we were 4 1 down at leeds and it is hard to tell if we went into overdrive with a spirited fightback or they switched off. But certainly up until their fourth we were very poor and our defence shambolic. we do not get enough bodies into the box and scott seems keen on playing a system where we are to open and need to narrow the formation making it harder for teaams to attack us.

It may all come good but to be honest I am more gloomy than optimistic at the moment.

Lighthouse, what has happened to you?????? Optimism has never been your strong point.
Blingo the eternal optimist sees us finishing in 15th. Its any three from ten that can go down. We DESPERATELY need CB'S and a striker. We get the defense sorted and we stay up for sure. Do I see SP as too inexperienced for the prem? TBH at this stage I do, and I can't for the life of me understand the "stats" logic of TK. What happened to trusting your scouts and your manager? Why have we been buying players in recent seasons that seem to be returning from the battle of wounded knee? Anyhow its 15th and survival for Blingo.

If you can make that happen Blingo I'll be thrilled and buy you several pints next time I'm in the UK :)

Your opinion is great and it is what a forum should be about.

I think the issue for some of us, is not your opinion. (I'm talking generally, not just at you) it's the fact that with a handful of small (but very loud)  incessant nature of the posters.

I just see the names on every thread and you just know its going to be a mixture of (we're going to lose, we're crap, Khan's are a couple of shysters, certain players are crap, players have no heart, tactics are wrong, defence is crap) The point is, its a forum and these are great topics. Well, they were after the first ten times but after a while it just becomes a monotonous whine.

I dont support FFC because I think we're perfect. In fact, I love our imperfections. I've supported us since 76. Off the top of my head, we've had 7 fantastic winning seasons out of 44. Probably 20 of those we have been dire. My fave season was 99. That was until 2018 getting promoted at Wembley. That was under the current owners and many of the current squad, who will all go down in my own folklore. So, when I read for the 100th time that Tim Ream is crap, the owners are crap, it feels like an attack on my club.

I think what some of us want is just some posts that are fun, maybe have some of the quality gallows humour we hear on the terraces. We're good at that. We're brilliant at that.

I won't name names, but just to say..we get the message, We know what you feel about the owner, the defence the formation et al. We get it, we really do.

I do think the gallows humour is becoming less and less even at matches these days, expectation and not playing at Rochdale maybe taking its toll. I mean we really enjoyed out misery back in the day when 4000 would attend the cottage in the 80's.

I can sympathise with some of the negative posters. Not signed a CB still, lost first two games, conceded 7 goals in an area the first point mentions so its a bit like  :dead horse: in that respect but it is the point isn't it. BUT I'm trying to be more supportive this year so irrespective of the outcome, I'll be supporting this team and Parker. That's not to say I won't criticise or point out errors etc but hopefully I can bridge the gap between fair, and not overly critical as its no doubt going to be a hard season.

I believe we will survive the PL this season.  I will continue to make honest postings about the Khans.  That makes me a less than perfect fit for this Forum according to the postings on this thread and that depresses me like hell.

I always enjoy your posts on here. Well written, insightful and heartfelt. So I wouldn't worry take it to heart. I imagine I am also not popular for the same reasons as you, but hey-ho... Life goes on!

What on Earth are you talking about, "blowing £100m plus"?  Most people on here want to see a CB and a striker signed. Hardly going to cost that sort of money. And anyway 100m is almost par for the course for promoted teams and thus far we have spent very little.

"Prime example of exactly what I'm talking about......"

It's also lovely to see some positive heads on this thread 👍🏼

Once the 16th October hits and the transfer window closes, there are a bunch of clubs in the premier league that could fail apart. If Zaha is suddenly out for the season, then Crystal Palace will be in the relegation zone by Christmas. If Grealish is out, then Aston Villa will be there too. And, I don't know what Leeds will do without Kavin Phillips.

This is premier league, other clubs are building their squads to stay ahead of us as FFP allows existing premier league teams to do. WBA and Leeds may have a worse squad than us, but even some that build better squads than us, after injuries won't sustain a better squad than us and other teams will fail to fight for points failing short too.

Not sure just how rational that is, fan.  Any team/all teams are susceptible to injury, even FFC.

It'd be much more depressing if there wasn't a degree of debate and tooing and froing between people that don't agree on things, the non-shouty nature of this board is what makes it great IMO.
Whilst I don't agree with you on somethings, I like reading your views and opinions.

Agreed.  Just several holes that need to be capped up.  But being fair, I can totally understand the depressing/negative attitudes being shown on this site.  Let's face it, FFC has known of their shortcomings, particularly the back four, and another attacker, for quite a bit of time now, and have failed to address (with quality).  Yes, they have spent money on last promotion, but most of those players did not pan out and were not of the quality that equated with money spent.  FFC just can't keep shipping 3.5 goals per game and expect to survive the prem.

Thank you for that and just to be clear, I have no problem with the owner or his son, honest. Except his son should not be DoF or anything to0 do with team affairs, i have the clough outlook.

If i was the owner I would immediately make myself center forward, or play libero in the midfield (I think that is what i would do anyway). And when it was clear I was not good enough, for the common good I would step aside and allow somebody proper to take my place. Having family members in positions in authority per se is not necesarilly a bad thing and in many ways a good thing, hopefully ensuring continuity. But when it is not working and we appear to be facing the same old story, as long suffering fan, I think it not unreasonable that we make a change. whilst we continue to misfire I will continue to be critical of that aspect.

As for the rest I think scott desrves a proper chance and whilst i do not think his tactics have been right so far, two games is nowhere near enough for him to adopt a rather more pragmatic view. I was astonished how well we did against brentford and expect more of that to become evident in the coming weeks.

By the way i also see some names of posters that make me raise my eyebrows, either because they always say everything is ok, or stop moaning come what may, no matter what dross is served up. And those that have nothing much to offer other than challenging every word one says in forensic and rather unpleasant matter.

I am sure a couple of good wins or a stellar (but sensible) signing or preferably both and I will feel better.
