Old Sod's Army-Burnley moment recalled.

Some moments stay fresh forever. One of mine....1962 Villa Park FA Cup semi v Burnley towards the end 1-1 and unfancied Fulham should have been 3-0 up. Towards the end Mo Cook goes clean through and is flattened by their 'keeper Blacklaw...an obvious penalty....but the ref waves play on (he apologised after).....we was robbed rotten of a real chance of going to Wembley.  :031:

Sadly for us fans having endured the weather that afternoon, Cookie big and honest as always, having been clearly taken out by Blacklaw when clean through on the edge of the 6yard box, staggered forwards and got a toe end on it into the side netting before finally being unable to regain his balance. Everyone in the ground waited for the penalty to be given but disbelief when it wasn't.

Remember it well.

Burnley were a top team then, and it was a heroic display  by Fulham, completely  unfancied as  you say.
I also remember  their England winger  John Connolly scoring a hattrick against us at the Cottage around this time, when we were fighting for survival - which we did in the end.

Before that game we had just lost 11 games in a row and it was played in all weathers including snow.
