If we had maintained the same points per game ratio for the entire season as per our last 10 games we would now be in 6th place....

But  we didn't

If we maintained the same ppg as the last game we'd be champions.

I wonder (not sure if anyone readily has this to hand), if we look at our average points per game during the period:
Everton in late November (even though we lost, I think the 2nd half was when we finally got some cohesion) and Sunday morning (assuming we lose to Man City tomorrow)
and we apply that points per game average to the remaining 9 games, how many points would we have at the end of the season?
I think that is a realistic but conservative estimate.
Realistic - because it would be consistent with what we've actually done over a sustained period
Conservative - because I think we are playing better now than at any point in the season

Basically if we reproduce our current ten game form for the last 10 games, we'll finish on 40 points (that'd mean 5 draws, 3 wins, 2 losses).
If newcastle were to reproduce their last ten game form, they'd finish on 35.
If Brighton were to, they'd finish on 38
If Burnley did, they'd end up on 41

Of course we've got to get those points too, but like the fact we (on this basis) wouldn't have a last game shootout with Newcastle (gd in our favour).

I think you'll  find it's "elastic" alfie!

Damage limitation tomorrow, really can't see us avoiding defeat.
Every one of the last nine games is then a cup tie and we have to take it game by game in the hope that we somehow collect sufficient points, no easy games, we can beat any of them but at the same time we can fail to score against any of them.  It could be very tight.
