Ream helps USA win Nations League

Fulham defender Tim Ream helped the United States win the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League as the Americans won a dramatic final 3-2 after extra time.

The 33 year-old played 83 minutes of the final, having been recalled by coach Gregg Berhalter after missing the narrow semi-final success over Honduras. Fulham left back Antonee Robinson was an unused substitute last night.

Mexico took an early lead when Jesus Corona scored after just 63 seconds and they were denied a second when Hector Moreno's header was ruled out following a VAR check for offside, with Ream stepping up to catch the Al-Gharafa centre half out. Giovanni Reyna levelled for the States just before the break before winger Diego Lainez restored Mexico's lead after breezing past Ream with ten minutes to go. Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie headed in an equaliser from a Reyna corner to take the final in extra time.

There was plenty of drama still to come as Pulisic converted a penalty that he wasn't initially awarded, with VAR confirming he had been tripped in the box. Substitute goalkeeper Ethan Horvath then saved a spot-kick from Andres Guardado as the Americans held on to lift the trophy.

Bournemouth eye up Fulham boss Scott Parker as next manager as Cherries eye changes

Despite leading them to the Championship play-offs last season, Jonathan Woodgate could be given the chop by the Cherries

Bournemouth are planning an audacious swoop for Fulham boss Scott Parker.

Cherries manager Jonathan Woodgate led the team into the Championship play-offs last season.

But they fell short, losing to Brentford in the semi-finals. Woodgate was named as replacement for Jason Tindall, but his contract only ran until the end of the campaign.

The Sun now claims that Bournemouth are again looking at Parker - someone they tracked last summer following Eddie Howe's exit.

The Cottagers were relegated from the Premier League last season but Parker has won plenty of plaudits for his work in getting them promoted in the 2019-20 campaign.

He has recently been linked with the vacant Tottenham job and was cryptic with his comments regarding his personal future.

Following their final match of the season, a home defeat to Newcastle, Parker admitted: "It's a big summer.

"There are big decisions to be made and we need to make sure we make the right ones."

As for Bournemouth, Woodgate summed up the emotions after losing that pulsating two-legged affair with Brentford.

He said: "In the changing room just now, I've told the players to bottle that feeling.

"It's the worst feeling in the world, but you have to try and channel it and the emotions and use them as positives in the future."

The two clubs will meet as equals in the Championship next season, with the fixtures being released on June 24.

Sheffield United stance on completing Tom Cairney move outlined amid Fulham valuation

Sheffield United are unlikely to be willing to pay the sort of fee that Fulham are going to be looking to receive for Tom Cairney this summer, according to the Sheffield Star.

Football League World first revealed that the midfielder was on the radar of Sheffield United this summer, with Slavisa Jokanovic interested in reuniting with a player who was essential to him guiding Fulham to the Premier League in the 2017/18 campaign.

A further report from teamTALK revealed that Fulham would be aiming to receive a fee of around £10 million for the midfielder if they were to sanction any possible exit for the 30-year-old. While that report also outlined they would wait to decide on his future until Scott Parker's future was clearer.

Sheffield Star also previously outlined that the Blades were aware they only have a slim chance of signing Cairney this summer. It was also believed that Fulham might even raise their valuation of him to keep him to avoid selling to a possible promotion rival.

This latest update now reveals that Sheffield United are not likely to meet the £10 million asking price that Fulham have placed on Cairney this summer. That suggests that the chances of this deal happening are now very slim.

The verdict

You can see why Sheffield United would not be prepared to go all the way up to £10 million to sign Cairney this summer. A few years ago when the midfielder was really pulling the strings for Fulham and was arguably their most important player, then he might have been someone worth that kind of fee. However, he is now in his 30s and would not have much resale value at all if signed now.

You can understand why Fulham have placed a valuation on him that is as steep as they have. That is because they would have been aware that Jokanovic highly rates the midfielder and that it was possible he would come in for him this summer. Selling to a potential promotion rival would make little sense unless they recouped a major fee for him.

It does seem from this update that Sheffield United are now going to be forced to move on towards other targets now. That might not be the worst thing for them at this stage as it has at least given them plenty of time to pursue other options in that midfield area.

Sources: Fulham, Millwall, Luton and Peterborough chase Motherwell midfielder Campbell

Fulham, Millwall, Luton and Peterborough are chasing soon-to-be free agent Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell, Football Insider understands.

The quartet are all keen to strengthen their squads ahead of next season's Championship campaign.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Campbell, 22, has made up his mind to quit Fir Park after rejecting their latest contract offer ahead of his current deal expiring.

Motherwell will be entitled to compensation for their academy product.

He joined the club aged 10 and made his senior debut in October 2016.

Since then, Campbell has made 160 appearances for the Well and proved to be a key player during the club's last four SPFL campaigns.

The midfielder signed a new four-year deal in 2017 with those terms soon to expire.

He has signed a fresh contract since but it was Campbell's terms that were improved, rather than the length of the deal.

On 11th May, Motherwell boss Graham Alexander confirmed Campbell would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

He admitted, despite extended talks, the midfielder "will be leaving in the summer". [Daily Record]

During the 2017/18 season, Campbell played in both domestic cup finals as his side lost 2-0 to Celtic on both occasions.

The defensive midfielder isn't a stranger to finding the back of the net, scoring 16 goals during his Motherwell career.

The Well finished eighth in the league during the recently-concluded season.

Fulham were relegated from the Premier League last season after being promoted via the playoffs the previous year.

Fulham, Millwall, Luton and Peterborough are all gearing up for next season's Championship campaign ahead of the transfer window opening.

QPR in talks for Stefan Johansen deal

Queens Park Rangers are in continuing talks over a deal to bring Stefan Johansen to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by talkSPORT, who claim that Mark Warburton's side are in round-the-clock negotiations with Fulham regarding a permanent deal for the 30-year-old midfielder following his successful loan spell at the club last season.

It is reported that a deal for the £1.8m-rated Norway international is one of the club's main priorities in the summer transfer window and that talks with Fulham have been positive, although no imminent announcement is expected.

Fans will be buzzing

Considering just how impressive Johansen was for QPR after joining the club on loan back in January, the news that the Rs are working tirelessly to secure the central midfielder's return to the club on a permanent basis this summer is sure to have fans buzzing.

Indeed, over his 21 Championship appearances for Warburton's side last term, the £8k-per-week man scored four goals, registered two assists and created two big chances for his teammates, as well as making an average of 0.8 interceptions, 1.1 tackles and 1.6 key passes per game.

These returns saw the former Celtic star – whom Ronny Deila dubbed an "unbelievable" player – earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.00, ranking him as the Rs' sixth-best performer in the second tier.

As such, when taking into account QPR's remarkable form since the turn of the year, winning 15, drawing two and losing seven of their 24 league fixtures in 2021, the return of the midfielder this summer would appear to significantly boost the chances of the club mounting a push for a top-six finish next season.

And, considering the fact that Warburton's side have already tied up deals for Charlie Austin, Jordy de Wijs and Sam Field, the further addition of Johansen would truly be a fantastic start to the club's transfer business this summer, as well as issuing a real statement of intent to their fellow Championship sides ahead of next term.

Fulham join Campbell chase

Fulham are one of a number of Championship clubs competing to sign Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell this summer, according to Football Insider.

The Scottish midfielder will soon be a free agent after deciding to leave Fir Park at the end of his current contract and Fulham have joined Luton, Millwall and Peterborough in the race for the 22 year-old's signature. Campbell has also been linked with a switch to Hibernian and Aberdeen as he contemplates his future having made 163 appearances since breaking into the Motherwell first team back in 2016.

Campbell, who helped Motherwell to two successive domestic Cup finals in 2017 where they were beaten by Celtic, has won 24 caps for Scotland at under-21 level, scoring one goal. Motherwell will be entitled to a development fee having brought the tough-tackling midfielder through their academy set-up and it remains to be seen where one of the brightest talents in Scottish football will be heading next. He made 40 appearances for Motherwell this season, scoring five goals.

Fulham will be seeking midfield reinforcements this summer as they plan for an immediate return to the Premier League after being relegated last season.

Fulham interested in Dwight Gayle

Fulham are interested in a deal to bring Dwight Gale to Craven Cottage this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by The Chronicle, who claim that Scott Parker is considering a move for the Newcastle United centre-forward in the upcoming transfer window.

However, it is also reported that the Magpies are set to announce that the 31-year-old has signed a new three-year deal with the club, a move that is believed to be a bid to increase the player's value ahead of a potential transfer.

Despite the fact that Gayle has found regular game time hard to come by at Newcastle in recent seasons, the £4.5m-rated man has a proven track record of being a clinical goalscorer at Championship level.

In United's 2016/17 campaign in the second tier of English football, a season in which the club went on to win the league title, Gayle scored 23 goals, registered two assists and created two big chances for his teammates over 32 appearances, earning a highly impressive seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.22.

More recently, the £32k-per-week striker was also in remarkable form in the Championship during a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion, bagging 23 goals, providing eight assists and creating four big chances over his 39 league appearances, seeing him earn a SofaScore match rating of 7.25.

As such, considering the player whom Alan Shearer dubbed as "magnificent" has scored a whopping 46 goals over his last 71 appearances in the Championship, his addition to Parker's attacking arsenal at Fulham would appear to significantly increase the Cottagers' chances of going on to secure an immediate return to the Premier League next season.

So, it would appear an extremely wise move for the 40-year-old to do all he can to convince the Newcastle United hitman of a move to west London this summer, as he could easily prove the difference between promotion and a further unwanted season languishing in the second tier of English football.

3 reasons why Fulham need to see off Championship competition to land transfer target

Fulham are one of a host of clubs looking at Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell ahead of a potential move.

The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for Graham Alexander's side this season but there had been doubts about his long-term future as his contract expires in the summer.

And, despite Motherwell's best efforts, Campbell is not going to agree a new contract with the Scottish Premiership side, so he will be available on a free transfer this summer.

That has alerted plenty of clubs, with Football Insider revealing that the Cottagers are battling Millwall, Luton and Peterborough for the player.

Here we look at THREE reasons why the Londoners need to do all they can to sign Campbell...

He is a bargain

Firstly, this is a signing that would make a lot of sense from a financial perspective.

Even though Fulham are expected to be backed in the market, they should still search for bargains and bringing in Campbell would be just that.

He is a talented player who would bring an energy and drive to the midfield, so to pick him up on a free would be smart business.

He has the potential to improve

At 23, Fulham would be getting a player who is only going to get better.

The midfielder has improved a lot in Scotland over the past few years and if he continues that upward trajectory then he could become an important player in the second tier.

Fulham need to be identifying players who can go to that next level and Campbell could progress a lot as he reaches his peak.

He will be desperate to prove himself

Finally, the Cottagers would be getting a player who would be desperate to succeed at the club.

The mood around a relegated club can be difficult, and it's about the manager having players who want the best for the club. If they sign Campbell, this would be his big opportunity and he would be totally focused and committed to helping the team to promotion.

Fulham: Alex Crook provides update on Scott Parker's future

TalkSport insider Alex Crook has offered an update on the future of Scott Parker at Fulham.

It has been something of a peculiar season for Parker and Fulham, as despite coming in for some major praise for his team's style of play at times this season, built around a rather solid defence in the middle part of the campaign, it ultimately wasn't enough to keep them in the Premier League, with the Fulham hierarchy reportedly not too happy with how he handled the way the season panned out.

However, despite relegation, he has found himself linked with both the Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth jobs, and speaking on TalkSport, Crook said that given the relationship between Parker and the board at Fulham, if he felt the position at the Vitality Stadium looked more promising, he could walk away from Craven Cottage:

"He wants to stay in club management, not necessarily with Fulham, though. It is my understanding that Scott Parker's relationship with the powers that be at Craven Cottage isn't necessarily as strong as it once was.

"It could be an interesting week for him, because I know Bournemouth are looking for a new manager... they are long-term admirers of Scott Parker, dating right back to when Eddie Howe left the club upon their relegation from the Premier League.

"If they could, I know they would love to get him in. Obviously the issue there is that he still has two years left on his Fulham contract. Is he going to walk away? There's a possibility, from what I'm told from people close to Scott Parker, if there's a genuine offer from another club, a project that maybe he fancies more than the one he's involved in at the moment, he could walk away."

TIF Thoughts on Alex Crook's comments about Scott Parker's future at Fulham...

For Fulham, this summer does offer them the chance to totally reset things, with some people's futures uncertain, it may make sense for them to go one step further and start the whole process again rather in the hopes of building something long-term rather than just being a 'yo-yo club', as they have been for the past four seasons.

And if that means bringing in a new manager with a different philosophy that is more suited to a long-term project, then letting Parker leave should certainly be an option for them.

And if they can convince someone to take him off their hands and get some compensation for it, which could be used on the playing staff or to tempt a new manager in, then all the better.

Fulham: Scott Parker attracting interest from Championship rivals

Fulham manager Scott Parker is attracting interest from one of the Cottagers' Championship rivals this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by The Sun, who claim that the Bournemouth hierarchy are contemplating parting company with their incumbent manager, Jonathan Woodgate, in the coming months, with Parker lined up as a potential replacement for the 41-year-old.

It is reported that the Bournemouth bosses are far from happy with Woodgate's failure to achieve promotion through the play-offs, with the Fulham manager seen as an alternative who could go one better than the former Leeds United defender at the Vitality Stadium next term.

Despite Fulham's relegation from the Premier League last season, Parker has demonstrated in his time at Craven Cottage that he is more than deserving enough to have a shot at getting the Cottagers back to the top flight of English football next term.

Over his 105 fixtures in charge of the club, the 40-year-old has overseen 37 victories, 25 draws and 43 losses, picking up an average of 1.3 points per game – a decent record considering he took over an all-but-relegated Fulham side in the club's 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

And, having guided Fulham back to the top flight at the first time of asking in the 2019/20 season, as well as earning plaudits for installing an eye-catching brand of football in west London, if Shahid Khan were to allow one of Fulham's potential promotion rivals to poach the promising manager this summer it would easily go down as being one of the Fulham owners' biggest mistakes throughout his tenure at the club.

Indeed, it has been reported that Parker's future at the club is shrouded in doubt as Khan felt let down by the manager's comments regarding Fulham's transfer business last season, with the owner thought to be considering pulling the trigger on Parker's sacking this summer.

However, this would more than likely be a decision that Fulham fans would simply not forgive Khan for, as the Cottagers very much appear to be a club on the up under the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

Chris Coleman

uefa euro 2016, july 1 2016

Wales 3
   Belgium 1
Williams (30)
   Nainggolan (13)
Robson-Kanu (55)

Vokes (85)

Having qualified for their first major tournament since 1958, Wales were – to begin with at least – just happy to be at Euro 2016. Under the guidance of Chris Coleman, however, a squad including Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen surpassed all expectations. Wales not only won a group that included England, but progressed all the way to the semi finals.

They were eventually eliminated by Portugal, who were later crowned European champions, but not before creating some special memories. The most notable of those came in the quarter finals, where they beat Belgium – boasting Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and more – 3-1.

Having gone behind to Radja Nainggolan's long-range strike, Wales rallied, and their indomitable team spirit shone as a header from their captain Ashley Williams, one of the goals of the tournament from Hal Robson-Kanu, and a late finish from Sam Vokes turned the tie on its head against the odds. Speaking exclusively to The Coaches' Voice, Coleman revisits the tactics he used to beat the team then ranked second in the world, and the fond memories that that victory evokes.

Fulham star Anguissa attracting interest from Arsenal, Lazio

Arsenal and Lazio are hoping to land Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, according to reports.

The Cameroon international put in some good displays during the season just finished but couldn't help Fulham avoid relegation.

He featured 36 times in the Premier League and didn't look out of place, so a big money move could be on the cards this summer.

According to Italian source Tuttosport (via ESPN), Lazio will rival Arsenal for Anguissa's services in the upcoming transfer window.

They need a new defensive midfielder following the departure of loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko, who recently returned to Chelsea.

Arsenal have been quoted by Metro as having an interest in the 25-year-old. He is one of several midfield options being looked at by Mikel Arteta, with the Spaniard's list also including Yves Bissouma of Brighton.

The improved form of Anguissa is the reason for interest from top European sides.

He struggled to cope with top flight life back in 2018/19 and was loaned out in the following season to gain more experience.

A year with Villarreal seems to have done him good, as he returned to the Premier League a more balanced player this term.

His starring moment came in January. Although the Cottagers were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United, Anguissa showed confidence and maturity in a solid display against some of the league's best players.

His performance brought comparisons with Gini Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko from us.

Speaking about his team's improvements since 2018/19, Anguissa said in March: "The team is much more solid than before.

"What we've done this season is not insignificant. We've had the confidence to play, to pass the ball, against good teams.

"Scott Parker knows how to make the players feel good, to feel confident. He always finds the words to get through to us. If he tells you it's possible, you believe it's possible."

Anguissa started his career in Europe with State Reims, before joining Marseille in 2016.

He made over 100 appearances for the nine-time French champions to earn a £22.3million move to Fulham in 2018.

Anguissa's Fulham career is finally looking up, but it could soon be ended by interest from Arsenal and Lazio.

Fulham transfers: Anguissa attracting Napoli and is 'expected' to leave

Fulham's Andre-Franck Anguissa is wanted by Serie A side Napoli this summer, reports Calciomercato.

Anguissa, 25, joined Fulham ahead of their 2018/19 return to the Premier League. The Cameroon midfielder joined for a club-record fee of £30million and would go on to feature 22 times in the Premier League, but would be loaned out to Villarreal upon Fulham's relegation.

He returned as Fulham made an immediate return to the Premier League, making 36 Premier League appearances in the season just gone as Fulham suffered relegation for a second time in three seasons.

Now, reports in Italy claim that Napoli are interested in signing the midfielder this summer, with the 25-year-old 'expected' to leave Craven Cottage.

For Scott Parker and the Fulham hierarchy, they'll be desperate to try and recoup as much of that £30million transfer fee they paid for the midfielder back in 2018.

It's unlikely they will be given his last few seasons, though his showing in the Premier League campaign just gone was a much more improved one than his 2018/19 showing.

For Fulham, Anguissa's likely departure will sum up their recent showing in the Premier League, and the misspending that has shrouded it.

Tony Khan in fairness pumped money into the side ahead of the 2018/19 season but recruitment was really poor and it's not only landed the club back in the second-tier, but has done so with a mounting wage bill and likely some losses to take on players like Anguissa.

The task of securing an immediate return to the Premier League looks to be a lot harder this time round for Fulham.

Club urged to sign Fulham player – 'Definitely superior' to what they have now, 'more dynamism'

André Zambo Anguissa's season for Fulham seems to be drawing quite a bit of attention from overseas, as his transfer is now suggested in the Italian media.

Radio Marte features an interview with former Napoli midfielder Salvatore Bagni, who's spoken about the club's transfer market and what they should do to improve their team.

And it turns out that when asked about signings who could add something to the midfield, he's named the Fulham player, mentioning the qualities he could bring to the squad.

"He has more dynamism and is much faster than Bakayoko. He has a lot of legs and is definitely superior. With him, Napoli would improve in midfield," Salvatore Bagni told Radio Marte (via Napoli Piu).

Anguissa has indeed been linked with a move to Serie A this transfer season. But instead of Napoli, it was actually Milan who were said to be interested in the player last month.

It's been claimed by the Italian media that his agent offered the player to the Rossoneri. However, Fulham are 'not willing to grant any discounts' in case of a move, and will play hard in case the negotiations start.

Oh dear if we lose Anguissa and Stefjo and if Cairney is not reliably fit then our midfield at the start of the season will not be up to standard.

I'm sure we can trust in TK to put it right by 12 games in.

Don't think we will lose TC and hopefully he will be up for a full season. I would keep Stefjo unless QPR come in with something big. As for Frank all these rumours must be his agent and I won't be sorry to see him go. No goals and careless passing.

Congratulations to our two representatives.
Nice pic of the two looking happy on the Club website, although Ream does look disturbingly like Jimmy Bullard's grandfather.
