West Brom target Kean Bryan stalling over Sheffield United contract renewal

Sheffield United are 'hoping for an early' answer from Kean Bryan regarding his future in South Yorkshire, with West Brom, Fulham and Swansea City all linked with a summer move.

Bryan, 24, is out of contract at the end of this month. Sheffield United have previously been reported to be lining up a contract offer for the Englishman and a recent report from Sheffield Star has confirmed that.

They write that terms of a new deal have been 'forwarded' to Bryan's agent but the player is yet to 'reveal whether or not he will accept or explore his options elsewhere'.

West Brom have recently been linked with a free summer move for the full-back, with the likes of Fulham and Swansea City previously linked by Football Insider.

He featured 13 times in the Premier League last season having spent time out on loan in the Football League previously, scoring one goal in the top flight as Blades finished rock-bottom.

Thoughts?
Bryan had to be patent to get his chance at Sheffield United but in his 13 Premier League outings last season he more than proved his worth.

He's a really versatile full-back who compliments the modern game well and it's unsurprising to see so many teams being linked with him going into the summer.

Sheffield United though don't seem keen on waiting around for much longer to find out whether or not he'll be staying at the club this summer – there's likely fewer options more attractive than Bramall Lane to Bryan right now though, so we could yet see him pen a late extension.

Crystal Palace development to add a twist to the Cooper tale as Fulham wait

For a man supposedly in demand the future of Steve Cooper is as uncertain now as it was almost six weeks ago when the first rumours of his departure from Swansea started to surface.

The season had not finished when Roy Hodgson announced he was moving on from Crystal Palace and the future of Steve Cooper was put under the spotlight as he was instilled as one of the favourites from the job.

Since then there have been stories of his representatives meeting the club, reports of an interview but after each one a different manager was placed at the front of the queue.  First it was Nuno Espirito Santo who Palace identified as their number one target but he pulled out due to personal demands (allegedly!) and Cooper was back in the running.  His interview was reported to have gone well but clearly not well enough as Palace moved onto another target in Lucien Favre, the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

It seemed inevitable that Favre would be appointed and was even so close as just completing the paperwork relating to a work permit.  But last night it was reported that there had been a U-Turn from Favre and he no longer wanted the Palace job which left them completely abandoned in their search and needing to return back to one of their earlier targets and Cooper was back in the frame once again.   Not so much second choice but even now as low as fourth or fifth choice – not something a manager supposedly in demand will be feeling particularly wonderful about.   Especially when you start to wonder what prevented two previous first choices signing on the bottom line.

Ruled out of the running is another one of Palace's targets in Valerien Ismael who joined West Brom yesterday so it starts to appear again as if all roads may point to Cooper.   Well, at least those that have not already been marked as dead ends already.

All of this happens as the rumours increase that Cooper was on his way to Fulham as a replacement for Scott Parker.   Rumours in West London said that was where he was heading yesterday for talks but he may now head further South towards Palace again should they be able to convince him that he is someone that they want at the club although quite how they manage a conversation about their two public chases that have failed remains to be seen.

Where it leaves us though is that, still, the future of Cooper remains as up in the air as it always has been and whilst it clearly doesn't stop our pre-season plans when the players start to return at the start of July it won't make them any easier.

Fulham and Sheffield United tipped for promotion as EFL fans make surprise relegation pick

Championship fans have made their predictions for next season, including who they think will finish as top scorer

Anticipation for the new Championship season is building following the release of the 2021-22 fixture list.

One of the highlights of the opening weekend being the clash between last season's play-off semi-finalists Bournemouth and relegated West Brom.

Both are heavily fancied to do well next season.

Once the composition of the league was complete we ran a survey, asking fans a series of questions regarding how next season's Championship will pan out.

Recently-relegated Fulham are the team who garnered most votes when it comes to who fans think will get promoted. Despite the impending exit of boss Scott Parker, 24 per cent of respondent think the Cottagers will bounce straight back to the Premier League.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, fellow relegated clubs Sheffield United and West Brom weren't far behind.

The Blades got 20 per cent of votes, and Albion 18 per cent. Fans were perhaps influenced by events from last season when Norwich and Watford secured immediate promotions back to the top tier, whilst Bournemouth also secured a top-six finish.

At the other end of the table, fans also believe that two of the promoted sides are in for a rough campaign.

Both Blackpool and Peterborough saw 28 per cent of respondents suggest that their stay in the Championship will only last for one season.

Derby County, who have had yet more off-the-field drama to contend with this week, are also heavily tipped to struggle. A total of 22 per cent of voters believe Wayne Rooney's side will go down.

Another area where we asked fans to make their predictions was with regards to the top goalscorer.

Ivan Toney won that honour in 2020-21 with a record-breaking 31 goals.

Voters in our survey believe that Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic (21 per cent) and Sheffield United's Rhian Brewster (19 per cent) are most likely to finish top of the pile next term.

Others to finish high on the list were Blackburn's Adam Armstrong (13 per cent) and Peterborough's Jonson Clarke-Harris.

The season is set to begin on August 7, with TV games expected to be confirmed shortly.

QPR boss 'desperate' to sign Fulham's Stefan Johansen

QPR boss Mark Warburton is 'desperate' to sign Stefan Johansen from Fulham this summer, reports West London Sport.

Johansen, 30, joined QPR on loan from Fulham during the January transfer window.

He was one of four arrivals and in 21 Championship outings for the club he grabbed four goals and two assists, proving a huge hit with the watching Rs faithful.

The Norwegian international emanated class throughout his stay at QPR. Warburton's side haven't been shy in outing their desires to bring him back on a permanent basis and talks have reportedly been ongoing regarding that.

But Fulham's current managerial situation is proving a stumbling block for QPR, with Scott Parker seemingly closing in on the Bournemouth job and Fulham set to give their likely new manager the chance to assess the side before any summer dealings are concluded.

West London Sport have reported this morning that Warburton is keen to bring in more fresh faces and that he's 'desperate' to bring Johansen back to the club on a permanent basis.

QPR completed the signing of Andre Dozzell from Ipswich Town last week and have been linked with a number of other names including Moses Odubajo and George Cox.

Thoughts?
Every QPR fans is desperate for the club to sign Johansen this summer.

He really became a fan favourite and bringing him back to the club on a permanent basis would hugely bolster their promotion credentials going into the 2021/22 campaign.

The deal might take a while yet, but it would be well worth the wait.

Sources: Fulham balking at Steve Cooper fee, Pereira remains in managerial frame

Fulham are not currently willing to pay the £3m release clause to bring in Steve Cooper as their manager from Swansea City, whilst Javier Pereira also remains in the frame; Football League World can exclusively reveal.

A change in manager at Craven Cottage looks likely this summer with Scott Parker heavily linked with a move to AFC Bournemouth and both Cooper and Pereira are in the running to take over from him in west London.

Cooper's release clause fee is proving a sticking point, however, with Football League World understanding that no side, including Fulham, has yet been willing to stump up the £3m required to take him away from current club Swansea City.

That said, Javier Pereira could still yet become the new Fulham boss as he remains in the frame, Football League World again understands, with him boasting experience of working at the club before having been a coach there during Slavisa Jokanovic's reign.

Certainly, there's a lot that still needs to fall into place at Fulham at the moment and the hope will be that the managerial situation resolves itself soon, especially as we head towards July and pre-season where plans for next year need to start being properly drawn up.

West Ham target signing of Fulham ace in transfer twist

West Ham United are said to be interested in signing Fulham captain Tom Cairney this summer, as per a recent report by Claret and Hugh.

It has been said that the Hammers view the 30-year-old as the ideal alternative for Manchester United's Jesse Lingard this summer if they fail to land the latter on a permanent deal.

Lingard is said to remain as a priority target for David Moyes, but there are now rising fears that they will be unable to make that signing a reality.

Therefore the East London side have now diverted their attentions to Cairney, with the report going on to state that the Nottingham born play maker could be available for around £10 million this summer.

Cairney endured a tough season last term that was ravaged by injury and only made 10 Premier League appearances as a result as the Whites were duly relegated back down to the Sky Bet Championship.

The midfielder is currently under contract at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2024.

The Verdict

I don't think Cairney comes anywhere near to the quality that Lingard possesses and for that reason I feel that this is merely a back up option for West Ham.

Fulham will of course be wary of interest in one of their key players but they will also be sitting safe in the knowledge that he is contracted for another three years at least in West London.

The player himself hasn't given any indication that he would like to move on and I would expect that he is fully focused on gaining promotion back to the Premier League once more.

I'd be very shocked if this transfer took place as for me I think West Ham can do a lot better after the season that they have just had in the top flight.

West Brom and Fulham keen to sign £12m rated Premier League winger

West Brom and Fulham are looking to sign £12 million rated Liverpool winger Harry Wilson this summer, but they do face tough competition from Premier League new boys Brentford and Portuguese giants Benfica, according to Goal.

West Brom and Fulham both returned to the Championship following their relegation from the top flight last season and will look to bounce back at the first time of asking.

This summer will see both sides attempt to keep hold of their star players whilst simultaneously looking to bolster their options to stand the best chance of achieving a place in the top six.

One player they have identified as a potential new recruit is Liverpool's Harry Wilson. The Welshman spent the whole of last season on loan in the Championship with Cardiff City, where he scored seven goals and registered 12 assists in 33 starts for the Bluebirds.

However, whether he drops down a division again permanently may be another matter. The two second tier sides face competition from the Premier League with recently promoted side Brentford one of the clubs pursuing a move. Whilst there is also interest from overseas with Benfica having already made an approach according to the report.

No formal bids have been made but Liverpool are prepared to sell the 24-year-old if an offer comes in that matches their valuation.

Wilson is still in action with the Wales national team in the European Championships and will be hoping to play a part when they take on Denmark on Saturday evening.
