One winner and one loser at Fulham if club strikes transfer agreement with Man City

Manchester City are said to be interested in signing Fulham defender Antonee Robinson this summer, as per a recent report by the Daily Mirror.

The 23-year-old is said to have impressed Pep Guardiola last season as he was a regular starter for the Whites under Scott Parker and now it appears that City are lining up a move for the American international.

It is stated in the report that Fulham value the player at around the £10 million mark, with several other Premier League sides said to be in the mix for his signature.

City are looking to add further quality to their squad after winning the league last term and are said to view the left back as the ideal candidate to compete with the likes of Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Here, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser at Fulham if the club agrees to sell Robinson to Man City...

Winner – Joe Bryan
The left back would be the clear and obvious winner of this deal being done, with Robinson's form having restricted his game time last season.

Bryan was previously a regular under Parker during their promotion campaign which took them back to the top flight but has found himself playing second fiddle to the American in more recent times.

In fact the former Bristol City man only started seven league games last term, underlining his fall from grace.

If Robinson is sold, the 27-year-old will certainly be confident that he can regain his starting spot at Craven Cottage moving forwards.

Loser – Tosin Adarabioyo
The centre back would surely be the main loser of this agreement being struck as he has developed a strong relationship with Robinson on the left hand side of the Fulham backline.

Adarabioyo has excelled in the left centre back spot with his teammate providing great cover along the left hand channel when opposing attackers come forwards.

Both players have played regularly alongside each other and now have a great understanding of how to marshal that area of the field.

If Robinson were to leave, it would not only disrupt this relationship but also potentially push the centre back closer to the exit door, as he also has interest in his services from elsewhere.

Scott Parker sees attempts to bid Fulham farewell scuppered

Former Fulham manager Scott Parker was refused entry to the Cottagers training ground as he tried to pick up his belongings and say his final farewell to the players, according to the Daily Mail.

The 40-year-old had recently left the west London side after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract at Craven Cottage to join fellow Championship side AFC Bournemouth – and it came after weeks of speculation about his future after suffering relegation with his former side last season.

After leaving the club in a messy fashion, this news may come as little surprise to many but as per the same Daily Mail report, this exclusion from the Fulham training ground came because the manager had recently been on holiday and there were Covid-19 concerns with the Cottagers recently returning to pre-season training.

Despite guiding Fulham to a play-off final win in 2020 and signing 11 players in the last summer window to try and secure their Premier League status, Parker was unable to steer his side to safety and finished 11 points away from 17th-place Burnley, despite ending up just one spot below Sean Dyche's side.

This symbolised the gulf in class between the likes of Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United and other top-flight teams – but Parker wasn't sticking around after becoming unsettled at Craven Cottage and will now pursue a fresh challenge on the south coast as Marco Silva takes his old job.

Another former England international in Jonathan Woodgate took over from Jason Tindall in February and helped the Cherries to reach the play-offs – but was unable to guide them to the Premier League after losing out to Brentford in the semi-finals.

The Verdict:

Perhaps this story isn't as much of a big deal as some would make it out to be, especially with Covid-19 precautions and Fulham keen to protect their players from outsiders, but it does seem strange he wasn't even able to grab his belongings as he made the move down to Bournemouth.

The players have had many highs and lows with Parker and whether it's a socially distanced chat or a video call with his old players, we can only hope he is able to say a proper goodbye to the players he's worked with over the past couple of years, especially because this was his first managerial spell and therefore a special one for him personally.

Let's not forget the former central midfielder also played for Fulham before moving into the managerial hot seat – so it would be a shame if this summer's saga has negatively affected his standing with the West London side's fans.

Sources: Wolves plot Robinson raid as Fulham asking price revealed

Wolves are plotting a raid for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The USA international, 23, had a fine debut campaign at Craven Cottage after joining from Wigan Athletic last August.

A Wolves source has told Football Insider that the club are planning to test Fulham's resolve to hang on to Robinson following their Premier League relegation.

The left-sided defender is valued at the £10million mark by the Cottagers.

Robinson moved to Fulham from cash-strapped Wigan Athletic last summer for just £2million.

He played 28 times in the Premier League last term as the London outfit suffered immediate relegation back to the Championship.

Football Insider revealed today (5 July) Wolves have reached an agreement in principle over the permanent signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The left-back spent last season on loan at Molineux and Wolves have negotiated a deal for less than half of the £20million option agreed last season.

He played 21 times in the Premier League last term and shared the role with Marcal.

Robinson would offer a younger alternative for new manager Bruno Lage.

The 12-time USA international is a graduate of Everton's academy but never made a senior appearance for the club.

He joined Wigan permanently in 2019 after a successful loan spell in the previous campaign and made 65 appearances across all competitions.

Robinson was set to sign for Italian giants AC Milan in January 2020 before a heart issue was highlighted in his medical.

Interest intensifies in Fulham defender Antonee Robinson

Interest is growing in Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by the Daily Mail, who claim that Manchester City are lining up a move for the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window, with a number of other Premier League sides also thought to be keeping a close eye on the situation of the defender ahead of a potential move.

It is reported that Fulham would demand a fee of at least £10m to part with the USA international this summer, who saw a move to AC Milan fall through in early 2020 after failing a medical with the Serie A side.

Big mistake

While it may be easier said than done for Fulham to reject the advances for Robinson this summer, particularly from a side with a wealth of financial resource such as Man City, it is not a difficult argument to make that selling the left-back would be something of a mistake by Marco Silva this summer.

Indeed, despite Fulham's relegation from the Premier League last season, the 23-year-old highly impressed over his 28 league appearances for Scott Parker's side, helping his team keep four clean sheets, as well as making an average of 1.3 interceptions, 1.6 tackles, 1.9 clearances and winning five duels per game.

The left-back also chipped in for the Cottagers in a creative capacity, creating four big chances for his teammates and making an average of 1.1 key passes per league fixture.

These returns saw the man Parker dubbed a "fearless" player earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.89, ranking him as Fulham's 12th-best performer in the top flight last season.

As such, while an offer of £10m may be tempting for the club to accept, particularly after losing the Premier League revenue of last season, should Silva wish to go on and secure an immediate return to the top tier next term, retaining the services of Robinson would appear to significantly increase the club's chances of achieving this feat.

And, while the money would come in handy for the club in the short term, if Fulham were to restore their status as a Premier League club next summer, the windfall of the Premier League cash would greatly outweigh the fee received for selling Robinson – leading us to believe it is well worth the gamble of rejecting any offers for the left-back for at least one more year.

Wolves lining up £10m Robinson swoop

Wolves are planning a summer swoop for Fulham full back Antonee Robinson, according to a Football Insider report this afternoon.

Manchester City's rumoured interest in the American international resurfaced over the weekend but Wolves are preparing to test Fulham's resolve to retain their best players by tabling a £10m bid. The 23 year-old quickly usurped Joe Bryan as Scott Parker's first choice left back in an encouraging first season at Craven Cottage, making 28 appearances as the Whites ultimately failed to stay up.

Fulham would like to keep Robinson as they seek to make an immediate return to the top flight under new boss Marco Silva but Wolves believe they can land the former Wigan defender by matching the Londoners' £10m valuation. That would represent a significant profit on the £2m that Fulham spent to bring the ex-Everton trainee to west London last summer.

Fulham interested in Bright Osayi-Samuel

Fulham are interested in a deal to bring Bright Osayi-Samuel to Craven Cottage this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by Nigerian media outlet Today, who claim that Marco Silva is keen to make the Fenerbahce winger his first signing after taking over from Scott Parker.

The report goes on to state that the 43-year-old manager was close to joining the Turkish side himself before ultimately taking the Fulham job, and he has now shown an interest in a deal that would see the 23-year-old join him at the Championship club.

However, Today also claim that Osayi-Samuel is keen to remain with the Super Lig side, although Fenerbahce are thought to be willing to accept an attractive offer for the youngster.

Fans should be buzzing

While it would appear a fair statement to make that things have not exactly gone according to plan for Osayi-Samuel since making a move to the Turkish side back in January – with the £3.06m-rated man scoring just one goal and registering one assist over his 19 appearances for Vitor Pereira's side – the winger's form after breaking through at Queens Park Rangers should be enough to convince Fulham fans to be buzzing about the potential signing.

Indeed, over the 23-year-old's 37 Championship appearances for Mark Warburton's side back in 2019/20, the £6.5k-per-week forward scored five goals, registered eight assists and created nine big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.2 shots and making 1.2 key passes per game.

These returns saw the man Warburton dubbed a "dangerous" player earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.73, ranking him as QPR's 10th-best performer in the second tier of English football, with Osayi-Samuel setting up the same number of goals as Eberechi Eze that year.

Furthermore, his level of performance while at QPR often led to fans of the club heaping a considerable amount of praise on the winger, with one stating their belief that Osayi-Samuel was the future of their side, while another simply dubbed the forward "outstanding."

As such, should Fulham go on to complete a deal for the 23-year-old this summer, their fans could well be watching an incredibly exciting player lighting up games at Craven Cottage next season – as long as Osayi-Samuel can recreate the fine form from his previous spell in west London.

'He needs to think about his game time' – Manchester City set sights on EFL defender: The verdict

This article is part of Football League World's 'The Verdict' series, which provides personal opinions from the FLW writers regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...

Manchester City are rumoured to be targeting a move for Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson, according to a recent report from The Athletic.

The 23-year-old has been with Fulham since 2020, after moving from Wigan Athletic. He went on to make 32 appearances for the Cottagers during the 2020/21 season, as they were relegated back into the Championship.

It appears as though his strong showings didn't go unnoticed though, with Manchester City reportedly weighing up a move for him this summer.

Pep Guardiola's side won another Premier League title last term, as they finished 12 points clear of second-placed Manchester United.

We ask our Football League World writers what they make of Manchester City's rumoured interest in Robinson, and whether they can see him leaving Fulham this summer.

George Harbey:

For many young players like Robinson, a move to Manchester City would normally be seen as a dream move.

They are one of the best teams in world football and will always be fighting for trophies, which is undoubtedly an excellent experience for any player.

But Robinson has got to ask himself whether he would be a regular feature for City if he moved to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Of course, he is still only young and has plenty of potential, but he is an upgrade on what they already have in the likes of Mendy and Zinchenko?

If the Premier League comes calling this summer, then it would obviously be hard for Robinson to turn that down, but he needs to think about his game time.

Billy Mulley:

Antonee Robinson screams out modern day full-back. His pace and athleticism allow him to be a real threat from deep and he has the ability on the ball to match.

Defensively speaking, he also impresses. He is strong in the air and does not allow the opposition to get in behind him very often.

He had a sensational season for Wigan when they were confined to relegation because of a points deduction, and as a result of that season alone, it would be surprising to see him back in the second-tier.

He has been highly sought-after for quite some time now and was incredibly unlucky not to earn his move to AC Milan. For City, they have struggled to find a world-class left-back for a while. The quality that Robinson would bring would certainly challenge that.

Chris Thorpe:

A good signing yes, but let's be realistic here, he'll only be a back up option for a club of City's size if he signs.

He's a talented lad and was unlucky not to get his high profile move to AC Milan, so I think he would love to move back to the Premier League.

I think every player worth their salt would be looking to leave if Pep Guardiola came calling, so I wouldn't be shocked if he wants to leave.

He has proven that he can cut it in the top flight so a season in the Championship may seem like a step back.

Robinson possesses the qualities that City look for in their full backs and this would be a great fit for all parties.

EFL preparing for full capacity crowds in August

Fulham could kick off the Championship campaign in front of full capacity crowds in August following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement that coronavirus restrictions would be lifted on July 19th.

The EFL chief executive Trevor Birch said: "The EFL welcomes today's positive announcement by the prime minister that capacity restrictions are expected to be lifted later this month, which will allow us to finally press forward with our plans to see a full return of fans to EFL stadiums from the start of the new EFL season in just four weeks' time.

"Football has been planning for this outcome since the outset of the pandemic and having been forced to endure empty stadiums since March 2020, the message from EFL Clubs is that we are ready to re-open and welcome fans back in numbers. From the EFL's own participation in the Events Research Programme and our Club's extensive experience built up over many years, we are confident that all our Clubs can successfully manage large scale events and we will continue to work with the Government on the guidance that will help support their matchday operations.

"Today's developments, of course, have been made possible by the staff at the NHS and countless medical experts and scientists who have helped to develop and roll-out the vaccines. On behalf of the League and its membership, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for playing such an important role in helping re-open our sport and wider society."

Precise capacity arrangements at Craven Cottage would have to be confirmed by the Hammersmith and Fulham Council safety advisory group which licenses all fixtures played at Fulham's home ground. Due to the fact that Fulham's historic home only has one entry point at Stevenage Road, Fulham have previously played in front of smaller crowds than their competitors, but there is a possibly that the relaxation of restrictions could facilitate full capacity for the opening fixture against Middlesbrough on Sunday 8 August.

I am always reluctant for any good player to leave Fulham as even if we secure a good fee we rarely find an adequate replacement.
However in the case of Robinson I am not too concerned as I think that he didn't quite live up to early promise last season and that Bryan may be first choice in the Championship in the coming season.

There is no reason to sell him. We need all the options in what will be a very long season. The fee of 10 mil is peanuts in todays market. We need the competition for places & he & Bryan will only benefit from this.

Could that be down to Parker Mr Filham?

MartyFFC

So Robinson's season could be about 15 minutes off the bench, in the Carabao Cup second round. Each to their own. I actually think Bryan's delivery is far better, and so not sure Robinson would even be missed

AnotherVicHalomLoveChild

Much depends on -
Marco's persuasive talents but also what he wants & needs. Scotty is gone, well gone.
Robinson / his agent's views of alternative options / pay off's. Is he really up for staying, want the fight & challenge? Or an easier pay day elsewhere?
What we can actually get for him  - well over £10m?
Bryan needs a decent run under a new manager, a chance to fully develop & show what he is capable of, sufficient or not? He can cross a ball, he can & does score goals from left back or further up the pitch.
We need players who are happy to stay now, who are fully committed to FFC
Playing under a manager who hopefully will develop them & also the team
A few losses, a few additions & Bingo - away we go!

He'd be quality in the championship and it could only make him a better player in the long run

Bill2

I actually think that Robinson is a good player with pace and aggresion and we need to keep him. If he goes to City he will be mainly on the bench or watching from the stands so it will do his career no good to go there.

bobby01

Personally the only real fault I see in him is his crossing, he reminds me of Fred, whose pace could also get him out of trouble. His crossing can be coached, and remember how many times he overlapped lookman last season only to be ignored with a pass.

I would 100% keep him I think he has a lot to come.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.
