Look back and you will see that any Fulham promotion side has had an outstanding midfield. That great play off day we all enjoyed at Wembley featured McDonald, Stefjo and Cairney who were without doubt ahead of anything else in the Championship that season.

So Silva right now has to give priority to putting together a strong midfield, will he be tempted to use Cairney and Stefjo again or will he decide they are past their best. He has the outstanding Reed available to replace McDonald so Cairney/Stefjo/Reed could be well worth a try.
There were rumours of him trying to sign Hughes, a player he has previously put trust in, so he could be thinking of Hughes, Anguissa, Reed. Perhaps that would be a younger and fitter force.

Sounds like Matt Grimes could be coming in. Was one of the best CM's in the championship last season

#1 priority area for recruitment IMO.

Anguissa likely leaving, Cairney injury issues, Onomah hit and miss, Johansen not sure he's still up to it. Even Reed picks up a lot of knocks.

It seems likely that Anquissa and Stefjo may leave so that would mean Grimes/Reed /Cairney as the engine room. Sounds pretty good as long as the Cairney knee stands up to it.

We Are Premier League

I would be more than happy with Grimes if Johansen and Zambo departs, these 5 are very strong for this league.

Reed, Cairney, Seri, Onomah, Grimes

We also have Reid and Kebano as options for Attacking CM if we are playing 4-2-3-1, that is where Reid was at his best before joining us.
