Our best defence?

Possibly our most competitive area on the pitch, historically in recent memory decent at championship level but extremely poor in the premiership. On top of that Marco Silva has a poor defensive record, conceding a concerning amount of goals from set pieces. Watching the highlights of the Southampton game I couldn't help but feel we were getting split open by them quite a lot and they on a better day had some clear cut opportunities to score another couple against us. Thankfully they didn't but we'll need our defence to be rock solid regardless.

Who'd you rate as your best defensive unit.

Yes I believe this is our strongest back 4 and the best in the league by some distance.
A fully fit in form Mawson would be in that lineup but I don't think that will ever be possible.

For me Bryan plays as a left midfielder and starts.

The key of course is assuming they are all fit.
It is a good choice to have and suggestions so far all have a point.
Mawson and Kongolo when fit are quality and would no doubt feature. But as we are not far away from the commencement of the season I have to be realistic and assume they will not be ready.
Therefore If that is the case my starting line up :-

                               Rodak
             Tete.  Hector.  Tosin   Robinson

I would put Bryan on left of midfield.

Rodak, Tosin, Tete and Robinson are nailed on. Then it comes down to fitness. Kongolo would be my choice to partner Tosin, then Mawson then Hector.

When considering how good the defense is do not leave out the midfield which has to play a part. I would go for:-

That's how I would see it if Mawson were fully fit but I just can't see that happening. Kongolo and Tosin would certainly be my choice of CB pairing if they can gel as a partnership.
