The test match has just been halted by bad light, despite the fact that England's slow bowlers were operating - and the floodlights were on......

Two questions come to mind;  1. How did cricket ever get played before there were floodlights, and
2. Do umpires and the cricket establishment have a vendetta against the paying public in making sure that there is minimum entertainment * provided for maximum ticket prices?

*bear in mind that over rates bowled are generally well below the agreed 90 per day.

We had what was called 'Summers' in the olden days. That meant I could not go to school, take the train to Old Trafford. Watch an entire days Test Match cricket while enjoying a days Sun and not even think about things called bad light.

Next day probably meant detention as I always admitted by sun burn was not from some mystery illness. But Summer there was heat and Sun.

Something we just don't have much anymore nowadays.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope
