Nottingham Forest lodge €4.5m bid for Bordeaux striker Josh Maja

Nottingham Forest have made a move to try and sign Bordeaux striker Josh Maja, according to reports from France.

After a dismal start to the new season, Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton is in the market for more additions before Tuesday's deadline.

Another striker wouldn't go amiss at the City Ground, with Lyle Taylor, Lewis Grabban and Nuno Da Costa the only options at the top of the pitch.

Now, it has been claimed that former Fulham and Sunderland man Josh Maja has emerged on their radar, with a bid made for the 22-year-old.

RMC Sport reporter Loic Tanzi has stated that Forest have lodged a bid of €4.5m for the Bordeaux man.

Tanzi states that Maja could be allowed to leave the Ligue 1 side before the window closes on Tuesday night, so it will be interesting to see how the situation pans out.

In need of a new talisman

Having endured a difficult start to the new season, Nottingham Forest could do with an inspiring signing or two before the window slams shut.

Maja could be just that, with a new prolific striker needed at the City Ground. Both Taylor and Grabban have proven to be dangerous at their best, but they only managed five and six goals last season respectively.

Fulham spell

In January, Maja returned to England for a loan spell in the Premier League, linking up with Fulham.

The former Sunderland ace featured 15 times for the Cottagers along the way, netting on three occasions.

Ream revels in Fulham's fine start

Tim Ream is delighted with Fulham's flying start to the new Championship season – even if he feels that the Whites should have taken more of their chances against Stoke City on Saturday.

The American centre back shook off a worrying back injury against Hull City to return to the side at Craven Cottage at the weekend and admits he is enjoying Marco Silva's free-flowing football that has seen the unbeaten Cottagers climb to the top of the table with four wins from their first five games. Ream admitted he was as culpable as any of his team-mates as the Whites only put three past Michael O'Neill's men in their last outing, telling the club's official website:

"I was really happy with the performance. That first half performance, we could've been 3-0 up at half-time. I shot myself in the foot for my own knock over the bar, Tosin deserved to score, Mika and Fabio's shots, the amount of chances in the first half was incredible. But to come away with three goals, a clean sheet, top of the league going into the international break, the boys are all very, very happy.

The 33 year-old was delighted to keep a third clean sheet of the campaign against one of the division's early pacesetters.

"That's three clean sheets on the bounce now if you include the cup. Once we scored the third we looked at each other, looked around the team, and everyone said we wanted a clean sheet. The boys up front, they got their goals, and us as a back four, and Gazza, and even the team from front to back, from Mitro back, said let's get a clean sheet, so we're happy with it.

"It's nice to get a clean sheet, but at the end of the day it's all about winning games. To come out with three goals, three points, you couldn't ask for anything more."

Ream believes it is a happy camp at Craven Cottage – and says he has enjoyed standing in as skipper for the injured Tom Cairney.

"I'm enjoying it. I think everyone's enjoying it, everyone's playing with a smile on their face. The guys were saying in the changing room that it's just fun to play, and when you can run out 3-0 winners with a smile on your face and go into the break with that type of performance, it's just fun to be a part of."

2 transfer scenarios to look out for at Fulham in the next 48 hours

After five Championship games, Marco Silva's Fulham sit at the top of the tree with fellow recently relegated side West Brom trailing behind them on goal difference.

This might not be any real shock with their summer business and the fact they managed to retain the core of their squad from last season – but their performances have been convincing and they have coped with high expectations extremely well.

Considering where they were just a couple of months ago with the saga surrounding former manager Scott Parker and his future, it's almost like that disruption never happened and the Cottagers are well on their way to achieving promotion from the Championship.

In the long-term, it will be about ensuring get away from being a team that's too good for the Championship, yet too weak for the Premier League.

But right now, Fulham fans are enjoying life under Marco Silva and their £12m signing of Harry Wilson last month was a real statement of intent to the rest of the league, especially with many clubs opting to spending cautiously, Covid-19 continuing to affect clubs financially and EFL profit and sustainability rules to abide by.

The arrivals of Paulo Gazzaniga and Rodrigo Muniz are not to be sniffed at either – but there could be one or two further arrivals in the next few days to cap off what has been a successful window thus far – although one potential high-profile departure could take the gloss off a bright summer.

Ahead of the next 48 hours, we take a look at two transfer scenarios you should be looking out for at Craven Cottage.

Movement on Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa
Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has made it clear to Fulham officials he wants to leave the club during the window, the main reason why he was left out of the Cottagers' squad against Middlesbrough on the opening game.

He was on the bench for last weekend's game against Stoke City, probably a good idea to keep him in and around the first team just in case he remains at the club beyond the end of the month.

But with Harrison Reed, Josh Ononmah and a rejuvenated Jean Michael Seri as options Marco Silva can utilise, we may see Anguissa leave the club in the next couple of days, whether it's a permanent deal or on loan.

With the Cameroonian still having two years left on his contract though, the west London side could potentially demand a sizeable fee for his services, depending on how much they want to keep him regardless of his wish to leave.

However, they may decide to negotiate a cut-price deal to soften the financial blow of the Harry Wilson deal and get an unhappy player off their books.

There's been no shortage of interest in the 25-year-old and Napoli are reportedly in discussions over a potential loan move, so it would be no surprise to see him leave Craven Cottage imminently despite manager Silva's wish to retain him.

Clucas in as a replacement?
At the end of last month, the Daily Mail reported that Fulham were set to sign Swansea City captain Matt Grimes, with Steve Cooper's resignation playing a part in that.

However, it has since been revealed by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon that the two sides are yet to agree a fee – and a fresh bid for his services from Fulham has also been rejected as per The Athletic (22:45, August 29th).

Although they will want to retain their captain regardless of the Flynn Downes signing, the former Ipswich man's arrival in Wales may persuade the Championship side to cash in on the 26-year-old due to the fact he has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal.

It's currently unclear whether he would be tempted to sign fresh terms at Swansea – but with Bournemouth and Fulham both sniffing around and the Swans unlikely to be fighting at the top of the Championship whilst they develop under Russell Martin – Grimes may feel it's time to move if he wants Premier League football in the short-term.

Bournemouth have a good chance of going up under Scott Parker – but it's the Cottagers that are currently in pole position to reach the top flight and if Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa leaves the club – it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see some of that money reinvested in Grimes.

Things would probably move very quickly on the Swansea City midfielder if Anguissa secures a permanent departure, so this is one to keep an eye on.

Fulham make Eustáquio offer

Fulham have made an offer to Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira for midfielder Stephen Eustáquio, according to reports this afternoon.

Marco Silva is keen to supplement his midfield options before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow with Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa posed to join Napoli on loan shortly. The Canadian international, who has made 60 appearances in three years with Pacos, has been heavily linked with a move to Fenerbahce this summer.

The 26 year-old midfielder, who has won ten senior caps for his country, has spent most of his senior career in Portuguese football. He is most regularly used as a defensive midfielder and has made eight first team appearances so far this season, including playing in both legs of Pacos' European Conference League defeat by Spurs earlier this month.

Cyrus Christie is being lined up for a move to Bologna

Bologna eye up Cyrus Christie.

Ireland full-back Cyrus Christie is being reportedly being lined up for a move to Serie A side Bologna.

According to The Irish Sun, the club are interested in taking the Fulham defender to Italy ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline but face competition from Burnley and Stoke City.

Ireland defender could be off to Italy.

Christie is currently out of favour at Craven Cottage and has yet to make an appearance this season under new manager Marco Silva.

He spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, making 44 appearances for the City Ground club.

A move to Serie A would represent an interesting career move for Christie and would see him follow in the footsteps of fellow Ireland internationals Liam Brady and Robbie Keane.

Bologna are a fairly established top flight club, having spent just one season in Serie B in the past 13 years.

Under the management of Sinisa Mihajlovic, they have finished 12th in each of the past two seasons and have made a decent start to the current campaign, winning their opening match against Salernitana before earning a creditable scoreless draw away to Atalanta on Saturday.

Their most famous current player is arguably Marko Arnautovic, who joined the club earlier this summer on a two-year deal.

Cyrus Christie is in demand.

If Burnley's interest is solid, Christie could fancy a return to the Premier League, a level at which he has only competed for one season, when he was a member of the Fulham team that got relegated in 2018/19.

However, it could be argued that Burnley are themselves a relegation candidate this year, making them a little bit less of an attractive destination.

Stoke, the other club that have been mooted, appear to be on the up after a few seasons in the Championship doldrums and currently lie in fifth position in the English second tier.

Coventry-born Christie has made 28 appearances for the Ireland senior side, the most recent of which came in the 1-1 draw with Qatar in March, but last week he was left out of Stephen Kenny's squad for September's World Cup qualifying triple-header.

Davis due to join Oxford

Fulham's Thai midfielder Ben Davis is poised to make a permanent move to Oxford United, according to the Athletic's Peter Rutzler.

The 20 year-old midfielder, who was at the centre of an international story when he had a request to defer his Singaporean national service in order to sign professional terms with Fulham rejected, has been with the Whites since a successful trial spell in 2017. Davis, who eventually opted to represent Thailand at international level, quickly became a regular in Fulham's under 18 side before going on to make 29 appearances at under-23 level between 2019 and 2021.

He made his senior debut for Fulham in their League Cup defeat by Southampton in 2019 and, despite appearing for Thailand at under-23 level, has struggled to make an impression in Fulham's academy since. He has now agreed terms with Oxford and a move to the League One outfit is expected to be officially confirmed shortly.

Ben Davis 'Set to Sign' for Oxford

Oxford United are set to sign Fulham U23 midfielder Ben Davis, according to The Athletic's Fulham correspondent, Peter Rutzler.

The report suggests that the 20-year-old will join the U's on a permanent basis from the Championship outfit, with the midfielder having agreed to join the club.

Davis has only made one senior appearance for the Cottagers in a Carabao Cup clash against Southampton but has turned out 45 times for the U23s and U18s.

Having joined the club in 2017, he signed a two-year scholarship before recording an impressive passing accuracy of 90 per cent during his first ten games for the U18 side.

Born in Thailand, he has represented the country at U23 level on two occasions. However, he is also eligible for Singapore, having represented them at various youth levels.

Like new signing Herbie Kane, who joined the club on Monday, Davis is a central midfielder that can also play in both the attacking and defensive roles.

Fulham make offer to sign Ferreira midfielder Stephen Eustaquio

Fulham have reportedly made an offer to sign Paces de Ferreira's Stephen Eustaquio.

Reports coming out of Europe on Monday revealed that Fulham had made an offer for Pacos de Ferreira midfielder Eustaquio.

The 24-year-old has previously represented the likes of Chaves, Cruz Azul and Ferreira, where he's been for the past three seasons.

Eustaquio is also a Canadian international having scored three goals in 10 appearances for his international side, despite featuring for Portugal's U21 side.

Now though, the midfielder could be heading for England for the first time in his career as Marco Silva looks to bolster his Fulham side before today's 11pm deadline.

Midfield mayhem
Fulham have had a bit of a mix up in midfield going into this season – Silva has had to deal with a number of injuries to the likes of Tom Cairney and Harrison Reed, with Jean Michael Seri coming into the fore and Fulham's other big money signing from the 2018/19 campaign Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa looking poised to join Napoli.

The Cameroonian is set to sign for Napoli on loan for the remainder of the 2021/22 season, with the Italian club reportedly having the option to buy for £9million.

There's not yet any indication as to how much Fulham have offered Ferreira for Eustaquio, but it's a potentially exciting signing given Silva's prior knowledge of the Portuguese leagues as both a player and manager.

Time's quickly running out for clubs to make signings though and Silva, and indeed many managers in the Football League will be sweating over their final transfer deals.

Fulham's Ben Davis to join Oxford United on permanent deal

Fulham's Ben Davis is set to join Oxford United on a permanent deal, reports The Athletic (30th August 9:32pm).

Davis, 20, looks set to leave Fulham without ever making his league debut for the club.

The Thailand U23 international is a product of the Fulham youth academy and has a handful of cup appearances to his name.

Now though, The Athletic's Pete Rutzler has revealed that Davis has agreed to join Oxford United in League One on a  permanent deal, with the transfer window slamming shut at 11pm tonight.

Karl Robinson's side have started the new League One season strongly after reaching the play-off semi-finals last time round – they currently sit in 3rd-place of the table after claiming 10 points from their opening five games of the season.

They've made some shrewd signings this summer in Billy Bodin, Ryan Williams and Steve Seddon to name a few but could lose one of their key players in Cameron Brannagan today – Blackpool have made a late bid to sign for the former Liverpool youngster.

Davis though could be another keen addition but he's a largely unproven name and so Robinson will need to nurture his ability and slowly introduce him into first-team action.

Oxford United are next in action against Cambridge United in the EFL Trophy tonight.

Crossley: Phil Jones would bring experience to Fulham

Former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Crossley believes that Phil Jones would bring experience to Fulham.

90min reported that the Cottagers are one of a number of Championship clubs interested in the Manchester United outcast with a loan move the most likely scenario.

The 29-year-old didn't feature at all last season for the Red Devils due to injury, but he did return to make his first appearance for United in 18 months in a behind closed doors friendly against Burnley earlier this month.

With the Red Devils bringing in Raphael Varane this summer, you would imagine that drops Jones down the pecking order to fifth choice centre-back at Old Trafford and so a temporary move away could be a good option for him in order to get some much needed game time.

Crossley believes that Jones would bring experience to Fulham, telling Football FanCast: "I like Phil Jones, I think he's a good player. But it just worries me about how injury prone he is but he's obviously a top, top player.

"You don't get signed by Manchester United if you're not a top player. So, again you do need experience around the squad and maybe Phil Jones is that one just to give that extra little bit of experience."

Fulham have made a brilliant start to life back in the Championship under Marco Silva, picking up 13 points from a possible 15 so far and sit top of the table, conceding just three goals in the process.

Fulham launch offer for international midfielder

Championship side Fulham have submitted a bid for Pacos de Ferreira midfielder Stephen Eustaquio, as per a Twitter update from journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu this afternoon.

The 24-year-old only joined the Portuguese side permanently back in January, after activating the €2.5m permanent option in his loan agreement following a successful temporary spell at the Estadio da Mata Real.

However, he could be on his way to the United Kingdom just seven months later if Marco Silva's side can tempt Pacos de Ferreira with an offer they can't refuse, with Turkish top-tier side Fenerbahçe also thought to be interested in the Canadian's services.

The midfielder has ten caps under his belt for his national side, scoring three goals and continuing to impress domestically after spending the majority of his playing career out in Portugal.

With wantaway Cameroonian Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa reported to be on the verge of sealing a loan move to Napoli, Fulham are currently on the prowl to find another man in the middle of the park to compete with the likes of Josh Onomah, Jean Michael Seri and Harrison Reed.

And if this deal goes through, he will join Harry Wilson, Paulo Gazzaniga and Rodrigo Muniz as the Championship side's fourth signing of the summer.

The Primeira Liga side's verdict on this offer is currently unclear though, with little over 30 hours to get any remaining training business completed at Craven Cottage before tomorrow's 11pm deadline.

The Verdict:

With Matt Grimes (22:45, August 29th) and William Carvalho on their target list, it's no surprise to see Fulham reportedly firing offers out for multiple players to bolster their midfield ahead of the rest of the campaign.

Although the Cottagers would have been semi-prepared for Anguissa's departure considering the fact he stated his intention to leave before the opening day of the season, this move has still come late and they seem set to bring in a replacement for the Cameroonian.

However, it's currently unclear who that replacement will be. Eustaquio would be something of an unknown quantity having spent none of his playing career in England, but his international experience playing alongside the likes of Alphonso Davies will have been valuable and there's every chance he would be a success at Craven Cottage.

He also played an impressive 32 times in Liga NOS last season, so the Canadian seems like a player they could rely upon to step in and do a good job, and the fact Silva's side have managed to retain Jean Michael Seri is also a big plus for the English side in the middle of the park.

And if they can bring in another midfielder to replace Anguissa, it can only help in their quest for promotion. They look good in the early stages of the season – but depth is key and this is what the club is trying to address in the last knockings of the transfer window.

Wolves set to turn attentions towards Deadline Day swoop for Fulham player

Wolves are set to turn their attentions towards making a deadline day move for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo after their attempts to sign Lille's Sven Botman have fallen through, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Football League World revealed that Wolves were interested in making a potential move for the defender in the final few days of the transfer window.

It was also revealed that the Premier League side had made contact with Fulham over a potential deal for the defender.

However, it is believed that at that stage that Wolves stopped short of making an official offer for Adarabioyo with them having other targets to pursue at that point.

Fulham are also expected to battle to keep hold of the defender's services as they aim to challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League.

They are in a better place to keep the defender than they were earlier in the summer after a £10 million exit clause in his deal expired.

According to Romano's latest update, Wolves are now targeting Adarabioyo as one of their options to make a move for as they aim to bring in a defender before the window closes.

That comes following their pursuit of Lille's Botman coming to an end after they had an offer rejected a few days ago.

The verdict

Fulham will be desperate for the window to come to a close with them obviously keen to keep hold of a player of Adarabioyo's quality.

The strong start that Marco Silva's side have made in the Championship should help them to convince the defender to stick around because the club are heading back in the right direction.

However, Wolves seem determined to try and bolster their defensive options and it would have to be considered as a potentially attractive destination for the defender.

Therefore, Fulham will need to show a lot of strength here to try and hold onto one of their most important performers.

It had looked like Fulham had done well to keep hold of the defender this summer following the expiry of his £10 million exit clause following their relegation.

However, it now seems that Wolves are finally ready to potentially come in with an offer to test their resolve in keeping hold of him.

Silva's side have already shown ambition in the transfer market this summer with their signings and now they need to do so again by keeping hold of the defender.

Fulham 'in talks with Zeefuik'

Fulham are holding discussions with Hertha Berlin right back Deyovaisio Zeefuik about a possible deadline day move, according to reports this morning.

Marco Silva is in the hunt for a new right back after Kenny Tete's hamstring injury – sustained a week ago in the win over Hull City – proved more severe than first thought. Zeefuik, who came through the famed Ajax youth academy, spent two years with FC Groningen before joining Hertha Berlin last August.

The 23 year-old was included in the Dutch U21 for last year's European Championships and has made 25 appearances for Hertha, scoring a single goal. Zeefuik has played three games for Hertha in the Bundesliga this season.

Report: Fulham could sign £18m former Marco Silva fave, also want rival's captain

Fulham could reunite Marco Silva with William Carvalho on transfer deadline day, according to Marca, while the Championship pacesetters are also looking to secure the services of Swansea City skipper Matt Grimes.

Sitting top of the Championship table with four wins and a draw from their opening five games, it would be a major surprise if a Cottagers side containing the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Jean Michael Seri, Bobby Decordova-Reid, Antonee Robinson and Ivan Cavaleiro weren't comfortably encamped in the automatic promotion positions six months from now.

So imagine if Fulham could add a 68-cap Portugal international to their already star-studded ranks, a Euro 2016 winner valued at £18 million?

A fearsome thought, at least for the rest of the Championship.

According to Marca, the Londoners are looking to reunite Marco Silva with a 6ft 2in midfield powerhouse he worked with at Sporting Lisbon.

It's understood Fulham could sign Carvalho on loan in a deal that would become permanent should the Cottagers seal a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

William Carvalho could replace Anguissa at Fulham

Carvalho could replace Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa in west London.

The mercurial Cameroonian is expected to join Serie A giants Napoli, although it must be said Anguissa is a more attack-minded, box-to-box player than the defensive-minded Carvalho.

Norwich City have also been linked with the £40,000-a-week ball-winner.

And, according to Wales Online, Fulham are also looking to snap up Swansea captain Matt Grimes before tonight's 11pm deadline.

The Cottagers have already seen two bids rejected for the hard-working midfielder, who is due to become a free agent in summer 2022.

Their most recent offer was in the region of £2.5 million.

Oxford United sign Thailand midfielder Ben Davis from Fulham

OXFORD United have signed Ben Davis from Fulham.

The 20-year-old midfielder made one senior appearance for the Sky Bet Championship club and was a regular for their Under 23 side in the last two seasons.

He is now keen to continue his progression at United after signing a two-year deal.

Davis said: "I'm looking forward to playing men's football.

"It was a huge step up from academy to 23s, so I'm looking forward to taking the next step.

"I have some friends who have moved to League One on loan.

"They say it's really competitive, similar to the Championship.

"I just aim to work hard and see what I can do for the team.

"Hopefully I can break into the squad, play in front of the fans and bring something to the team."

Davis is the second midfielder to join United in 24 hours, after Herbie Kane arrived on loan from Barnsley yesterday.

The youngster is already well-travelled - he was born in Thailand, moved to Singapore as a child and joined Fulham on a scholarship as a teenager.

He has represented Singapore at Under 16 and Under 19 level and Thailand Under 23s.

U's head coach Karl Robinson told the club's official website: "He's got energy and talent and has been through the system at a terrific club who have a history of helping young players develop.

"As with Mackenzie Chapman who we signed on Friday, Ben has a good attitude, lots of ability and we look forward to working with him and seeing him develop further."

Fulham ace on brink of exit with view to permanent agreement

Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is on the brink of leaving Craven Cottage this summer Deadline Day, with a move to Napoli in Serie A in the offing.

Anguissa impressed last season in the Premier League for the Whites but, once relegation to the Championship for this campaign was confirmed, it always seemed possible that he'd be moving on again – having spent time away from the club on loan in the past already.

Indeed, that looks to be the case once again with the midfielder in Italy ahead of a loan agreement to join Napoli, whilst there is also a view to a permanent deal being struck for around £15m.

Tom Barclay has this story on Twitter:

The Verdict

Anguissa is a really decent midfielder and it's no surprise, really, to see him looking set for an exit from SW6 this Deadline Day.

He would have been a massive asset in the Championship but Marco Silva's team selections have already suggested that Fulham have been planning for life without the player this season at least, and now we can see why.

We'll just have to see if he does end up making a permanent exit from the club to join the Naples-based side in the future, then, as he looks to impress in Italy.

Ben Davis: Oxford United sign Thailand youth midfielder from Fulham

Ben Davis joined Fulham in 2017 but has yet to make a league appearance in English football

Oxford United have signed Thailand youth international midfielder Ben Davis from Championship side Fulham.

The 20-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at the Kassam Stadium.

He played one first-team game for the Cottagers in the Carabao Cup and featuring five times in the EFL Trophy.

Thai-born Davis was brought up in Singapore and played for the city state's youth sides before switching his allegiance to Thailand and playing for their under-23 side.

"He's got energy and talent and has been through the system at a terrific club who have a history of helping young players develop," Oxford manager Karl Robinson told the club website.

Player 'didn't hesitate to say yes' to Fulham exit 'even for one moment' – 'Pressures' helped deal happen

While not entirely official, since neither club has announced it, the belief in Italy is that André Frank Zambo Anguissa is all but a Napoli player.

The Fulham midfielder had been wanting to find a way out from Craven Cottage all summer following the club's relegation back down to the Championship, and while he did feature under Marco Silva, a move to Italy is on the cards.

Gazzetta dello Sport are extremely optimistic after a loan offer with option to buy at €10m was accepted by the Cottagers, and the player completed his medical on Monday.

Seen as a 'complete midfielder' by the newspaper, they make it clear the 'negotiations was unlocked by the will of Anguissa himself, who did not hesitate even for one moment to say yes to Napoli'.

It's believed his 'pressures' gave Napoli director of football Cristiano Giuntoli the upper hand in convincing Fulham, even though the player 'was never the first choice'.

That was Sander Berge, but Sheffield United's reluctance to sort out a loan deal meant he had to look elsewhere, with the same applying to Saint-Etienne's Zaydou Youssouf.

It seems the Fulham man was third choice, but he won't care, as he gets to play in Serie A next season, avoiding a campaign of Championship football in the process.
