Napoli want Fulham's Anguissa in early permanent deal, report claims

Napoli are set to enquire about an early permanent deal for Fulham's Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Anguissa, 25, joined Napoli on a season-long loan from Fulham last month. The deal is with a view to a permanent one and now reports coming out of Italy claim that the Naples side are set to ask Fulham to make that move permanent earlier than planned.

Football Italia writes that a season-long loan is costing Napoli €400,000 and that they have the option of buying Anguissa for €15million, before going on to reveal that Napoli are hoping to get a slight discount on the permanent transfer by pushing it through early.

The Cameroonian international has started the last four outings for Napoli. He played the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Juventus and even returned to England to play against Leicester City in the Europa League earlier this month.

Last time round with Fulham in the Premier League, Anguissa really prevailed and showed why the club paid so much money for him back in the summer of 2018.

He's a commanding and energetic central player who can control play going forwards or backwards, and Napoli seems like a good fit for the 25-year-old who featured three times in the Championship at the start of this season.

Fulham paid a reported £30million for Anguissa previously and so they look set to take a hit on that fee – a discount on that initial £15million fee to make his stay permanent looks a possibility now, but Marco Silva and his side will be hoping that they can recoup as much as possible.

Sky Sports pundit predicts somewhat shock Bristol City v Fulham result

Bristol City welcome Fulham to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon, with The Robins' miserable home record still intact.

The hosts have not won on home soil since January last year, and whilst their brilliant away form has pushed them to within a point for their play-offs, they will be hoping to get back to winning ways in Bristol as soon as possible.

City come into tomorrow's clash unbeaten in their last four games, beating QPR and Cardiff City away from home, and drawing against Luton Town and Preston North End at home.

It may be a good time for The Robins to face Fulham after The Cottagers have now lost two of their last three.

Winning the next four after an opening day draw, Marco Silva's side looked extremely dominant, but they have since dropped down to second place.

Scoring 11 times from their four games away from Craven Cottage, Fulham have proved to be quite prolific on the road.

However, EFL pundit David Prutton has predicted that Bristol City will finally get a home win, penning down a 1-0 victory for the home side.

Nigel Pearson has done an excellent job with The Robins thus far, and it seems that they are closing in on that home win.

The Robins will have the play-offs in their head but the difficult part is sustaining their early form.

Fulham have struggled after looking brilliant in the opening few games, and it will be no surprise to see them struggle versus a team with confidence.

Equally, it will be no shock to see Fulham return to winning ways, as they have beaten some strong opposition quite convincingly on their travels already this season.

31-year-old starts: The predicted Bristol City XI to face Fulham on Saturday

Bristol City will be looking to back up their recent victory over Queens Park Rangers by securing a positive result in their clash with Fulham tomorrow.

The Robins will be brimming with confidence heading into this clash at Ashton Gate following an impressive performance against the Hoops.

A late strike from Nahki Wells secured all three points for Nigel Pearson's side last weekend as they moved up to ninth in the Championship standings.

Set to face a Fulham side who will be looking to challenge for promotion this season, the Robins know that they will need to be at their very best if they are to finally secure a victory in-front of their own supporters.

Here, we take a look at how City could line up against the Cottagers on Saturday...

Having utilised the 3-4-1-2 formation during the club's clash with QPR, Pearson is likely to deploy this particular set-up against Fulham.

Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley will be looking to keep his second clean-sheet of the season against Fulham.

Central-defenders Nathan Baker, Rob Atkinson and Tomas Kalas will be tasked with preventing the Cottagers from scoring in this fixture whilst Cameron Pring and George Tanner will feature in the wing-back roles.

Tyreeq Bakinson will be partnered in the heart of midfield by Matty James whilst Han-Noah Massengo is expected to feature in a more advanced role.

When you consider that Wells netted the winner for his side last weekend, it wouldn't be at all surprising if he is given the opportunity to start alongside Chris Martin tomorrow.

The 31-year-old could potentially replace Andreas Weimann up-front if Pearson is looking to use the same formation.

Wells will fancy his chances of adding to the 107 direct goal contributions that he has provided at this level during his career against a Fulham side who have only kept two clean-sheets in the Championship this season.

Fulham in line for Andre-Frank Anguissa financial boost

Fulham could be set to receive a major financial boost regarding the sale of Andre-Frank Anguissa.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by Tutto Mercato Web, who claimed that, after joining Napoli on an initial season-long loan deal, Anguissa has already impressed the powers that be at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, with the Serie A club looking to make the 25-year-old's temporary switch a permanent move.

The report claims that Napoli have an option to sign the Cameroon international for €15m (£12.8m) at the end of his loan deal, although it is suggested that Aurelio De Laurentiis may look to sit down with Fulham to discuss the possibility of signing the midfielder at an earlier date, and for a reduced price.

Silva will be buzzing

While losing a player of Anguissa's undoubted ability will have come as a blow to Marco Silva and Fulham earlier this summer, reports that Napoli are already hoping to make the midfielder's switch a permanent move is undeniably good news for the Championship side, as the early sale of the 25-year-old would provide the club with a significant cash injection which could be used in the January transfer window.

Indeed, while Fulham currently sit second in the table, with their promotion chances looking relatively strong, the Championship season is an extremely long and arduous campaign, with a couple of injuries to key players being enough to completely derail a title charge.

As such, January recruits could well prove to be the difference between an immediate return to the Premier League and a second season in the Championship for Silva. The windfall of cash that the early sale of the £70k-per-week Anguissa would generate could provide the 44-year-old with a sizeable budget to make any additions he may require in the winter market, something which would undoubtedly leave the Portuguese boss buzzing.

Bristol City vs Fulham injury news: Cottagers without key player for Ashton Gate visit

Teenage playmaker Fabio Carvalho has scored three goals in five Championship games for Marco Silva's side

Fulham will be without Fabio Carvalho for Saturday's Championship clash at Ashton Gate with the 19-year-old still suffering with a toe problem that has kept him out of the Cottagers last four games.

Carvalho has been among Fulham's outstanding individuals so far this season, scoring three goals in five league games with one assist and is a crucial part of Marco Silva's attacking strategy in his favoured 4-2-3-1.

There was hope the England Under-18 international would return for this weekend but his scheduled comeback has been put back once again, meaning Bobby Reid could well continue in the No10 role.

Fulham's form has been patchy since losing Carvalho with the Cottagers winning four and drawing one with the 19-year-old on the field, but recording one victory and two defeats in his absence.

"Fabio's started running on the pitch; but it's longer than I expected and wanted, to be honest," Silva told West London Sport. "He took some steps back and we want to make sure he doesn't step back again. We hope next week he can start working with the team."

Silva, also without long-term absentees Tom Cairney and Terence Kongolo, changed his entire starting XI for the midweek Carabao Cup defeat against Leeds United but admits some of the individuals who impressed in the penalty shootout defeat could keep their places. That could include former City left-back Joe Bryan who's made just one Championship start this season.

Bristol City, in contrast, have few injury concerns for the game with Nigel Pearson able to select from a nearly fully-fit squad.

Defender Nathan Baker faces a late fitness test on an ankle issue sustained against QPR last Saturday but midfielder Andy King is fit following a tight thigh.

Young striker Tommy Conway is the only long-term concern as the forward recovers from ankle surgery which is set to keep him out until November, at the earliest.

Previously injured duo Joe Williams and Callum O'Dowda have been training for several weeks now with the former making the matchday squad against QPR.

Away Day Guide – Coventry City

On Saturday 2 October, Fulham will make our first trip to Coventry City since a League Cup tie in 1982 and our first league visit since 1967. Here's the FST Away Day Guide.
TICKETING INFORMATION

Fulham have been allocated 2,000 tickets priced at £30 for adults, £25 for senior citizens, £25 for those aged between 18 and 21, students, members of the armed forces and £20 for those aged under 20.
GETTING TO THE COVENTRY BUILDING SOCIETY ARENA
BY CAR

The Coventry Building Society Arena is very close to both the M1 and the M40. The easiest route would be to start on the M1 and join the M6 at the Catthorpe Interchange. Leave the motorway at Junction three and head south along the Jimmy Hill Way. The stadium is clearly signposted and about three minutes away. There is plenty of parking at the stadium, which can be booked online. At the time of writing (22 September), the main arena car park was sold out but the other two were still showing spaces.
BY TRAIN

The closest train station is the custom-built Coventry Arena near to the south-east corner of the stadium and it is served by West Midlands trains from London Euston. The journey will take under an hour. The main Coventry station is located in the city centre, about four miles away from the ground. From this station, you can take the number 8 bus to Coventry Transport Museum and then the number 4 or number 5 to Arena Park (Tesco). An underpass will then take you into one of the stadium's main car parks.
BY COACH

Club coaches will leave Motspur Park and Craven Cottage at 8.15am priced at £17 for adult season ticket holders and £10 for junior season ticket holders. Non season-ticket holder seats are £22 for adults and £17 for juniors.
AWAY PUBS

There are two areas at the stadium that offer alcohol outside of the concourses (the Aylesford pub and Bar 1883), but the pub options for visiting supporters are pretty sparse close to the stadium.

The Coach and Horses (Longford Road, Longford, Coventry, CV6 6BG) has welcomed away fans earlier this season and is about ten minutes from the ground.

The JK English bar and grill (Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV6 6ER) is another option, a short walk from the ground via Longford Road, which serves excellent Indian food.

The New Horseshoe Bar and Grill (1007 Foleshill Road, Coventry CV6 5HN) has previously welcomed away fans and offers a good selection of beers and wide range of food. All of the other venues close to the stadium are designated as home fans only and you may need to cover your colours in establishments in the city centre as well.

Marco Silva makes honest admission about Fulham man's future ahead of Bristol City clash

Fulham manager Marco Silva has admitted that Cyrus Christie is now back in the club's plans after the defender featured against Leeds United on Tuesday.

The 44-year-old suggested that Christie did not have a future at Craven Cottage last month as he tried to offload him in the closing stages of the transfer window.

However, the Republic of Ireland international was unable to seal a move away from the club and made a surprise appearance for the Cottagers earlier this week.

Keen to prove his worth to Silva, Christie delivered an impressive performance in the League Cup as he helped his side keep a clean-sheet in their clash with Leeds who booked their place in the fourth round of the competition at the expense of Fulham by winning a penalty shoot-out.

With the Cottagers looking to get back to winning ways in the Championship this weekend in their showdown with Bristol City, it will be intriguing to see whether Christie is included in the match-day squad for the club's trip to Ashton Gate.

Making reference to the defender, Silva has admitted that he has now changed his mind regarding Christie's future.

Speaking to West London Sport ahead of tomorrow's clash with the Robins about the former Nottingham Forest man, the Fulham boss said: "If he was not in my plans he would not have started the (Leeds) game.

"We finished the (transfer) market and I decided to put him in the squad because we also had the injury to Kenny Tete.

"Cyrus is working hard and showed me he deserved the shirt.

"That's football; it's unlucky for some, but it can be a shirt for others.

"One day your chance will come and you have to show your quality – and that goes for the others too."

The Verdict

With Kenny Tete set to be out of action for the foreseeable future due to injury, Fulham are relatively short of options at right-back and thus Silva's decision to give Christie another chance to showcase his talent for the club is a wise move.

During the club's clash with Leeds, the defender managed to complete 26 passes and make three clearances as he registered a WhoScored match rating of 7.02.

Whilst Christie may find it difficult to overtake Dennis Odoi in the pecking order due to the fact that his team-mate has started in the last four Championship games for the Cottagers, he is unquestionably a solid back-up option.

Providing that Fulham are able to seal all three points in their showdown with the Robins this weekend, they could use the momentum gained from this result to push on in the Championship under the guidance of Silva.

Chalobah starts: The predicted Fulham XI to face Bristol City on Saturday

Fulham swap west London for the west country this weekend in the Sky Bet Championship, as they take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Lilywhites have made a fine start to proceedings this year but it could have perhaps been even better having suffered surprise defeats against Reading and Blackpool in two of their last three matches.

That is the nature of the Championship, though, and they'll be looking to get back to winning ways against a Robins side that continues to struggle to win in front of their own supporters.

Marco Silva made changes in the week for the League Cup game against Leeds but could well revert to something a little more familiar for the resumption of league duties:

Fabio Carvalho remains sidelined through injury but the Portuguese manager has no other issues to deal with fitness-wise and so it's all about getting his team selection right.

The likes of Neeskens Kebano and Harrison Reed could well be pushing for a start and it's more up to Silva whether he thinks certain players deserve to right the wrongs from the clash against Reading or whether it's time to shake it up anyway.

Whatever happens, he has a strong squad to pick from going into this one and the expectancy will be that they get a positive result in Bristol.

Fulham forced to let player go on 'advantageous terms' for club – 'Tried in vain' to keep him

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has hit the ground running at Napoli after having joined them on a season-long loan deal from Fulham on the deadline day.

TuttoMercatoWeb say the Italian club side paid €400,000 in loan fee to the Cottagers, with the right of redemption set at €15m.

Initially, this figure was set at €13m, but the price was raised after Napoli requested Fulham to pay half [around €1. 75m] of his annual salary.

Anguissa's good start has raised questions, at least in the Italian media, as to how the Naples club managed to take him away from the Cottagers, a year after he returned to the English club following his loan spell at Villarreal.

Fulham were relegated from the Premier League last season, after which the midfielder requested to move to a club in the top division.

It's stated that the Serie A side waited until the end to snatch Anguissa away from the English club, which allowed them to get him on 'advantageous terms' for them.

This was done at a time when Fulham 'tried in vain' to keep him and also to renew his contract.

In the end, Marco Silva's side understood their efforts weren't going to yield any results and therefore, were forced to let the ex-Marseille man join Napoli on a loan deal.

Manager claims Fulham player would 'already play for Real Madrid or Bayern' if he could score more

Fulham midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa could be playing for Real Madrid or Bayern Munich if he could score goals more often.

That's according to Cameroon coach Toni Conceição, who has lavished praise on the midfielder amid his continued impressive performances for Napoli.

The midfielder left Fulham to join Napoli on loan at the end of the summer transfer window, despite the Cottagers best attempts to keep him.

It is his second loan spell since joining Fulham from Marseille in August 2018, having also spent a season on loan with Villarreal in 2019/20.

That year saw him establish himself as a star for the Spanish side, and he's repeating the trick at Napoli early on too.

They're already very keen to sign him on a permanent basis, with a move looking likely in the January transfer window if he continues how he's started.

That remains to be seen, but in the meantime, he continues to be praised from all angles, including by his national team coach.

"I tell you the truth, his great performance with Napoli is not surprising me," he told Tuttomercatoweb.

"I've known him since Villarreal, and it's no coincidence that he's already been part of my national team for two years: Anguissa is an excellent addition to the Azzurri; you can be sure of that.

"Have you seen how many balls Frank recovers in every game? I think that when he's 100% fit, he'll be able to perform even better.

"Catching the ball and breaking the game of the opponents is his main quality, but Anguissa is also smart in starting the action and organizing the manoeuvre. I consider him an almost complete midfielder.

"If Anguissa also had goals, considering his intensity of play, he would already play for Real Madrid or Bayern Munich!

"Maybe with an offensive coach like Spalletti, he will improve in the offensive phase as well, in addition to growing tactically in a strategic league like Serie A."

Supporting Fulham FC Women

It's been a tough couple of years for our Fulham FC Women's team. After the highs of a crowd of over 500 for a big grudge match against Dulwich Hamlet in November 2019, things were looking up, before March 2020 swung around and the world ground to a halt. They've just started again in the London & South East Regional Premier League at the start of September, and a bright start to the season has seen them put five past Aylsford for their opening match and earn a hard-won point last weekend in the first home game of the season against Saltdean.

This FFC Women's team is looking up, and as a Supporters' Trust, we fully intend to be there alongside them as they grow.

Many of you will remember the pioneering work of the FFC Ladies team that in its previous incarnation were around since 1993, who became the first professional team in Europe in 2000, and in their pomp won the treble of the FA Women's Cup, League Cup and Premier League in 2002–03, scoring 68 goals and conceding just 13. Sadly though, with the League not receiving financial support, the professional team was unable to continue and was disbanded in 2006.

Fast forward a few years and the team began again in 2014 as FFC Women, affiliated through the Foundation and with an aim to develop women's and girl's participation in football. Post-covid, they are raring to go for their first full season in three years, as coach Steve Jaye explained when we caught up with him recently:

"The squad prepared well during pre-season, which saw a number of new players join. The introduction of a structured physical development programme alongside our technical/ tactical coaching, and other aspects of our football offer, has seen large improvements in the squad's ability this season.

Something we are really proud of is the culture the group is living in each and every week. The squad consists of players from a variety of backgrounds and how these individuals mix will be an important component for our success this season. We are looking forward to seeing what the club can achieve on and off the pitch this season as we build Fulham FC Women as an environment seen as developing the women's game."
Steve Jaye, Fulham FC Women Head Coach

As the team grow on the pitch, we absolutely want to be there alongside them, and encourage and support the fans that will be following too. As a board, we've been discussing internally how best to support this side of the Club as it develops, and have updated our aims as a Trust to explicitly include our support of the Fulham FC men's and women's team, and fans attending both matches.

Currently, our plans to support this growth are to:

Ensure our website, social media and comms always support both the men's and women's Fulham teams
Provide the essential information required for supporting Fulham men's & women's team, and ensure fans of either side know that they can contact us for support
Provide equal support to both teams and work with the Club to develop these relationships
Develop awareness for fans to attend FFCW's matches with information on fixtures and how to enjoy
Work with the Club to encourage fan participation and increase awareness of the team

From the Club's perspective, an important goal of the next few years is focused on increasing participation. Supporting Fulham FC Women isn't just about promotion to higher leagues (although of course, it will be a goal!) and those eleven women on the pitch, but it's also about a commitment to growth across the ages, as Huw Jennings explained.

"We want to embrace the rapid emergence of the women's game. The FFC Foundation has done some excellent work in establishing the women's programme and building a solid base for our programme. In bringing the Women's team into the performance side of the Club, we want to incrementally grow our programme and develop a long-term investment into our players. Over time we hope to develop the team, increase our investment in youth and encourage enthusiasts for the women's game to consider Fulham as their Club of choice."
Huw Jennings, Head of Football Development

We're so excited to watch the growth of fan participation of FFC Women. We want to be ready as a Supporters' Trust for the increase in followers of the team, and be there to support anyone that decides to start attending matches – some of which may not be aware of the Men's team, or about the Trust and our aim to look after the best interests of all Fulham supporters. We are in the process of planning more content for our website and social channels, including all the essential information that you need for attending Motspur Park on matchdays. We want fans to know that they can get in touch about any feedback they have in exactly the same way supporters attending matches at Craven Cottage can.

Of course, the most exciting development for most fans will be to see Women's matches held at Craven Cottage, a view shared by fans, the Club and the Trust. As mentioned in our recent September meeting notes with the Club, pre-Covid plans had been underway to host a double-header match, and this is still within the grounds plans, albeit currently this has been complicated due to Riverside building works.

This excitement for growth is being mirrored around the country and the FSA has been supporting this through the development of the Women's Game Network, which board member Hayley Davinson and member Tamara Dragadze are in the process of joining. There they will be able to feedback and learn about initiatives other clubs have instigated and how all members can help the movement gather pace.

It's still early days for this re-formed female side of Fulham Football Club, and the Trust are very much here to support it. From youth level upwards the excitement for females to be playing football is nurturing some roots into the Club that we very much hope to see flourish in future.

How has Fulham's Sylvester Jasper started life on loan at Colchester United?

Fulham winger Sylvester Jasper ended up linking up with League Two side Colchester United in the summer window, joining on loan until January.

The move came after a stint on trial with Sheffield Wednesday, with the Cottagers keen for the talented winger to pick up senior experience elsewhere having put in some strong performances in the youth sides.

Jasper's loan gives him the first chance to pick up first-team minutes away from Fulham, having played only three times for their senior side.

Following his move to Colchester United, first-team minutes is exactly what Jasper has been getting.

He has featured eight times for Hayden Mullins' side across all competitions, starting in four League Two games. Jasper has been deployed on the left-wing and as a striker, chipping in with one assist so far.

While his return in terms of goal contributions as been pretty underwhelming, the Fulham loan man has shown his talent. The 20-year-old has shown no fear in taking on the opposition, which has been effective in some games more than others.

Now, the youngster will be hoping to add some goals and assists to his record as he looks to impress away from Fulham.

Up next for Jasper and co

Mullins' side will be hoping to return to winning ways after their defeat to Crawley Town last weekend, with Swindon Town awaiting Colchester this weekend.

Ben Garner's side currently sit in 10th place and are three games without a win, so will be determined to get back on track.

Jimmy Hill Day

Trust Chair, Tom Greatrex, reflects on the life and Fulham times of a former player and chairman that will forever be entwined with our club.

It is one of the curious anomalies of football that – a solitary League Cup tie aside- Fulham and Coventry City have only faced each other in a League season once since the 1940s, in Fulham's final season in the old first division, which was Coventry's first in their rise to relative modern prominence. It is more curious still given that both clubs have, in the era since the emergence of the Premier League, played in all four divisions of what we used to call the Football League. Our rise from 1997 coincided with Coventry's decline and promotions and relegations in the same year meant we missed each other on the snakes and ladders of football fortune....until next weekend.

So to say that this fixture has been keenly anticipated is an understatement – for many of us ticking off a 'new' ground and playing a different opponent is one of the compensations of our most recent relegation back to the Championship. I am sure I was not the only person willing Coventry to stay up in the latter part of last season as it became clear our latest stay in the Premier League was going to be as fleeting as the previous one- and the prospect of finally playing each other, and with the news that they were returning to Coventry from the crumbling St Andrews, became real.

While there is more than one connection between the two teams – Don McKay and Micky Adams amongst them – there is only really a single name that links the two clubs most prominently, Jimmy Hill. A player with Fulham, the footballers trade unionist who campaigned for the abolition of the maximum wage, gracing the top division – to coach, manager and later Chairman of Coventry City as they rose to, and improbably became a mainstay of, the top division. A seemingly never-ending series of experiments, imaginative innovation and high profile stunts were a part of the Coventry story. The first all-seater stadium in England (subsequently reversed), the first electronic scoreboards and colour match programmes and pre-game entertainment – Hill was more than a manager or administrator in that period, but somebody with ideas to make football an entertainment business suited to the optimism of the 1960s.

As television came to the fore, he pioneered coverage of football both at ITV and then as a long-standing pundit on Match of the Day and, much later, Sky Sports. A profile that meant while Coventry and Fulham fans knew of Hill, he would soon become a household name. Infuriating to many (including sometimes his fellow pundits), he always seemed confident in his own opinions and resolute in his convictions, but was, without doubt, somebody with a huge appreciation for football and a deeply ingrained understanding of how much the sport meant to so many people while appreciating the need to find new audiences and build the supporter base at clubs.

That forthright style was in evidence when he spearheaded the group that stepped in to save Fulham in 1987 from the clutches of property developers and the spectre of Fulham Park Rangers. It is probably not an exaggeration to say that without the attention and profile Hill brought to the table, Fulham may not have been saved in an era where football was at an all-time low ebb. His determination helped keep the show on the road, with canny but quiet backers behind the scenes and a small but passionate fan base joining the fight. Of course, with such a strong personality it was inevitable there would be disagreements and he could be dismissive of other views, but the other side of that coin was also that he relished the exchange of views including, at times, with supporters. It was a difficult time at Fulham, but somehow we survived by a combination of luck, guile and sophisticated manoeuvring – and despite the hugely controversial deal with Cabra Estates – we are still Fulham, and still at Craven Cottage. Even if he got some of the calls wrong, it is clear to see with hindsight that Jimmy Hill's motivation was always to keep the Club he had played with for so long alive.

Sadly, after a long period with dementia, Jimmy Hill died in 2015. Outside Coventry's home (again) stadium, there is a statue of Hill. He did a lot for both clubs, in many capacities. The fixture of 2 October has been designated by Coventry as Jimmy Hill day, with bucket collections for the Coventry based charity foundation named in his honour and £1 of each ticket sold going to the same fund. While Sky continues to vandalise the fixture list, with the 12.30 lunchtime kick-off an added hassle factor, both the Fulham Supporters Trust and our counterparts the Sky Blue Trust are encouraging supporters of both clubs to join together at the Jimmy Hill statue outside the ground at 12 pm, so we can together – as fans of clubs that have so rarely played each other – mark the often high profile, sometimes controversial and always determined contribution he made to both of our clubs. It promises to be an intriguing fixture, but also a poignant one in many ways – so if you have managed to successfully navigate the new ticketing system and are going to Coventry please join us at midday – with scarves and banners – so we can mark the contribution of a man the likes of whom we will probably not see again.

Fulham dealt Fabio Carvalho injury blow ahead of Bristol City clash

Fulham have been dealt a big blow regarding the fitness of Fabio Carvalho ahead of their upcoming Championship clash.

What's the latest?

In recent comments cited by West London Sport, Marco Silva revealed that the 19-year-old will once again be unavailable for selection this weekend, as the attacking midfielder is yet to recover from a toe injury picked up in the Cottagers' 2-0 win over Hull City back in August.

Speaking about the former England under-18 international's current condition, the manager said: "Fabio's started running on the pitch; but it's longer than I expected and wanted, to be honest. He took some steps back and we want to make sure he doesn't step back again. We hope next week he can start working with the team."

Silva will be gutted

Considering the fact that Fulham have now lost three of the four fixtures for which Carvalho has been sidelined, the teenager's absence for the trip to Bristol City on Saturday is sure to have left Silva gutted.

Indeed, the 19-year-old had impressed over his five Championship appearances so far this season, with the £225k-rated man scoring three goals, registering one assist and creating two big chances for his teammates, as well as taking 2.4 shots and making 2.2 key passes per game (SofaScore).

These returns have seen the player who Silva himself dubbed a "quality" talent earn an average SofaScore match rating of 7.30, ranking him as the club's joint-third best performer in the second tier of English football.

As such, the continued absence of the attacking midfielder is sure to dent the west Londoners' chances of leaving Ashton Gate with all three points on Saturday, something which is evident from the club's record without the youngster in the team so far this season.

Every single Championship club's profits and losses from player sales

A new study has analysed all 24 clubs in the second tier and the results show one club has made a huge profit of £50m with another is £94m in the red

A new study has revealed Bristol City banked a £50million profit from player sales in the space of just four years.

That is the highest of all current 24 teams in the Skybet Championship.

The study, conducted by Betting Odds, saw results compiled using data provided by both the EFL and respected industry website Transfermarkt .

Since the summer of 2017, the Robins were found to have sold players for a total of £77m. That is compared to an outlay of just £27m.

In that time City have cashed in on the likes of Bobby Reid, Aden Flint and Adam Webster.

Reid moved to Cardiff in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £10m - quite the profit on a player who came through City's academy.

Flint, who had signed from Swindon for a modest fee of £300,000 joined Middlesbrough that same summer for £7.2m.

As for Webster, he left in a deal in 2019 that saw Brighton pay £20m just a year after City had signed him for £3.5m.

Whilst they might be the second tier club with the canniest transfer policy when it comes to moving players on, Stoke City are at the other end of the scale.

The findings show that the Potters, having been relegated into the division in 2018, have sold £71m worth of player since summer 2017 from an initial outlay of £165m.

That not only leads them to the greatest loss in sales of any current Championship club, (a loss of £94m), but also gives them the worst profit percentage, at -56.91 per cent.

Arguably the most obvious piece of transfer business that applies to these losses is the case of Giannelli Imbula.

He joined for a fee of £21m in 2016 but his contract was cancelled in 2020 without Stoke ever recouping a penny.

In total, 14 of the 24 clubs have made a profit in the four years.

Social media abuse: Goalkeeper Rhys Porter, 13, made honorary member of Fulham squad

Rhys can be seen on Fulham's website alongside the club's senior goalkeepers

Thirteen-year-old Fulham fan Rhys Porter, who was abused online because of his disability, has been made an honorary member of the club's first-team squad.

The goalkeeper received the abuse after posting videos of his saves on social media.

Earlier this week he was moved to tears when he met one of his Fulham heroes Tim Ream on BBC Breakfast.

"Everyone at Fulham has been completely inspired by Rhys," the club said.

"We wanted to show him just how impressed we've been with both his attitude in the face of adversity, and his commitment to helping others.

"Rhys has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and was recently subjected to vile online abuse after posting a video of him making a save."

On Fulham's website he is listed on the squad page as number one alongside the club's official number one Marek Rodak.

Rhys was a guest of the club at their recent match against Reading and when he visited the club's training ground this week he joined in some of the drills with goalkeepers Rodak and Paulo Gazzaniga.

Ream added: "People see footballers as role models and inspirations. For me, what he's doing is more of an inspiration than anything any of us could ever do."

Euro giant 'delighted' with €15m Fulham loanee; set to make deal permanent

Serie A outfit Napoli are 'delighted' by the impact Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has had in Italy, according to a report.

The 25-year-old joined Napoli on loan in the summer after being made surplus to requirements at Fulham. He has so far made four appearances in all competitions, including one in the Europa League against Leicester City.

Napoli bosses have been impressed by Anguissa's solid performances in midfield, write Italian outlet Calciomercato (via ESPN).

They have won all three of their opening league games, scoring ten goals in the process. Anguissa is helping to anchor the team while the likes of Lorenzo Insigne and Victor Osimhen go off in attack.

Napoli are already considering the option to make the player's season-long loan permanent in 2022.

Such a transfer will cost them €15m (£12.8m). Fulham are open to a sale as they have yet to see the best of Anguissa in England.

He has made 66 appearances for the Cottagers since joining in 2018 but has never proven his £22.3m price tag.

Anguissa was shipped out to Villarreal on loan two years ago but returned to west London ahead of last season.

He regularly appeared in Scott Parker's midfield during the club's relegation season. They finished in 18th place on 28 points, 11 away from safety.

The poor campaign also resulted in Parker stepping down as manager.

Anguissa looks set to revive his career in Italy. The Cameroon international has proven to be a solid midfield partner for Fabian Ruiz and Piotr Zielinski so far this campaign.

Silva reacts to Fulham defeat

Fulham boss Marco Silva says his team need to work on their finishing following the cup defeat to Leeds United.

The Cottagers hosted Marcelo Bielsa's side in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

They lost 6-5 on penalties after a 0-0 stalemate during normal time.

When asked about the loss, Silva told reporters: "We have to be more clinical.

"Of course, creating so many attempts in two games, not just in two games, since the beginning of the season, being more clinical of course. Some results [would have been] completely different.

"But again, last Saturday, off the post, crossbar, the balls are going in the same direction but in the future will come for us, I don't have doubts.

"We just have to keep working, keep improving our players, improve our last decision definitely, our last pass. Our finishing as well. Of course, we need to keep working on that."

Fulham's next game is away against Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.
