Watching Silva's reaction to the game on the website, I was encouraged by a) his obvious anger b) his grasp of the issues. I hope that passion and knowledge enables him to get better performances from our players. He identified two key failings - the pace and intensity of our play in the first half and the weakness of our midfield. (Given the second point, I can't understand why we let Anguissa go on loan. We needed his defensive qualities today). He also identified what is going wrong in front of goal - the need for our players to be more relaxed - or words to that effect. I think that means that they are trying too hard!

Silva can see the problem, as we all can, but finding a cure is more difficult.
Interesting to see what happens against Swansea.
Dropping one or two players will not provide a solution as so may were guilty of missing chances yesterday.

Echoes of last year except Mitro is back. Wilson will score but who else is a natural finisher. BDR/Cav/Kebano/Onomah/ etc are not clinical finishers. It's too early to judge Muniz but the little I've seen he's looked better at hitting the target than the rest. Stansfield needs to be on the bench on Wednesday night. He does seem to have an eye for the goals

The mistake was Onomah and Chalobah. Onomah did well against Leeds, but looked a bot lost yesterday. Chalobah looked a liability. That was an error by Silva.

The mistake was Onomah and Chalobah. Onomah did well against Leeds, but looked a bot lost yesterday. Chalobah looked a liability. That was an error by Silva. 

I'm sure it's been said before, but Onomah can be so inconsistent. He's got great ball skill and control, but some matches he just looks not up to it. If he can find some consistency, he could be a great player.

I was never a striker (more a Dave Mackay wing half) but always interested in what makes a good striker.  I think it was Andrew Cole who I heard saying that the best strikers are "ice cold" when in goal-scoring situations and that it is not difficult to coach that. Training ground and practice match repetition is the key apparently.

Last point accepted - makes sense to recoup some of the "silly money" he is paid. He is overrated but not "highly" in my opinion - on a good day he justifies his rating, bit has too many average days. I can't comment on the first point because I don't know that he didn't want to be here. (If you have any evidence of that, I'd be interested to see it.) He is still a better defensive midfielder than Seri who is, however, the more creative. I assume that Reed didn't start because he is still not fully fit. I also think that Seri and Reed together is a bit of a lightweight combination, which is probably why Chalobah and Onomah got the nod - shame that neither did the job!

He was also pretty unhappy about their goal and from my watching it several times over I have to agree with him. When the shot goes in the eventual scorer is clearly well offside and when the save falls to him he is able to use that position to get there ahead of the defenders. How could the officials not see that.

Agree, Chalobah has been a disappointment and was very close to a red card before half time, Silva did well to replace him.
