Timmy Abraham's loan spell away from Fulham: How's he getting on? Can he become a Cottagers first-teamer?

Timmy Abraham is currently in the midst of his fourth loan spell away from Fulham at Newport County.

The 20-year-old has had mixed fortunes in his time away from Craven Cottage at Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Raith Rovers but is beginning to make his presence known in the Football League this time around at Rodney Parade.

Abraham has scored three and assisted one in all competitions for the Exiles and will be hoping to impress new manager James Rowberry in the coming weeks.

The Londoner has made three starts in the league but none since the middle of September, Michael Flynn's exit may turn out to be a blessing for the 20-year-old who will be hoping to stake a claim for a regular starting berth in County's attacking contingent.

How's he getting on?
At this stage Abraham's loan spell has been more successful than the previous three where he struggled to gain any valuable experience. With a lot of appearances in Premier League U18 and 2 at 20 years old it is time that Abraham starts looking to build bridges in the Football League.

Rowberry coming in presents a huge opportunity for Abraham, the Welshman has worked his way up through youth football so should appreciate Abraham's situation and will want to utilise him for the Exiles to climb back up the table.

Can he become a Cottagers first-teamer?
It feels like Abraham is transitioning out of Fulham and with this loan spell being in the fourth tier, at 20 years old, while Fulham look to achieve promotion to the top-flight it looks very unlikely he will make it in the first team. However, that is not to say that he cannot have a very successful career in the Football League.

Players develop at different speeds at different times and if Abraham can prove himself in this loan spell then he will have plenty of suitors come the time for him to depart Craven Cottage. When he is settled in a permanent destination we can start to consider his future potential.

Taylor starts: The predicted Nottingham Forest XI to face Fulham on Sunday

Nottingham Forest will be looking to extend their winning run to five games this weekend as they host Fulham at the City Ground.

The Reds have enjoyed an excellent start to life under head coach Steve Cooper, picking up 13 points from a possible 15 under the Welshman so far.

In midweek, two goals from Lyle Taylor in stoppage time saw Forest make it four wins on the spin with a 2-1 victory over Bristol City away from home.

On Sunday, they return to the City Ground hoping to make it five wins on the bounce as promotion candidates Fulham make the trip to the East Midlands.

It will be the toughest test so far for Forest, with Fulham coming into this one on the back of two comfortable home wins and occupying second spot in the Championship.

But Forest are the in-form team at the moment, and will be coming into this one also brimming with confidence in front of a packed-out City Ground.

It is likely that Cooper will name an unchanged team, too, having made only one change in midweek. James Garner replaced Jack Colback in the middle of the park.

The defence will remain in the same, with Brice Samba starting in goal and Joe Worrall, Tobias Figueiredo and Scott McKenna playing in front of him.

Djed Spence and Max Lowe will occupy the wing-back spots, whilst Garner and Ryan Yates will sit alongside each other in midfield.

Going forward, Brennan Johnson and Philip Zinckernagel should keep their places in the side, but the main question is whether Taylor will start.

Having scored twice in midweek, it would be harsh to leave the striker on the bench given his excellent cameo at Ashton Gate.

Focusing on female Fulham fans

Our aim as a Trust is to ensure the voice of all fans are heard, and one of our key aims is to ensure that we represent the diverse nature of our fanbase. An area that we have been focusing on recently is that of our female supporters. With the Fulham FC Women's team growing in stature and support, it's only right that we show the Trust's support for our female fans, too.

Before we as a Trust begin to make plans for the changes for better ways to support any of our supporter base, we need to ensure that we are hearing from those voices. We do this annually with our Trust Survey, as can be seen from our most recent results, and we're always looking to improve upon this by hearing from our members.

We want to make sure that the Trust is doing everything that it can to support all females, including those identifying as female, and therefore, we need to hear from you. If you yourself, or anyone you know, supports our team – whether that's lifetime or since Marco Silva joined us, we would love to hear your thoughts. It's important to us to get a cross-section of females varied in:

Age – if parents will give permission, we would love anyone of any age who has an opinion to contact us. Permission not required for those aged over 16 😉
Length of support – from supporting as a child up to recently supporting/attending
Degree of support – visit when you feel like it, to regular attendance, covering both home and away games

From the board and Trust member experience of feedback so far, we believe that Fulham FC do a great job generally for making the Cottage a truly welcoming place. We'd love to hear the good and the bad experiences though, so if you've any stories to share please know that all voices are welcome.

The growth of female support of football has become far more apparent over recent years, although there will be many who have been attending games far longer than that recent spurt, but as campaigns such as the #HerGameToo show, there is still work to be done to ensure that women can feel happy attending and enjoying football both in stadiums and at home or online.

If you are happy to agree to join us, and if you have any feedback or ideas on what you like and dislike about coming to games, then please let us know. We'll be conducting some focus groups online, requiring up to 1.5 hours of your time. By your doing this, we believe that you will get to help shape some of our future plans and ideas for what being a female Fulham supporter is all about.

Please email us with your details before Friday 5th November, and we'll be in touch with some dates to enquire about your availability. Let us know, and please share with your female Fulham mates!

Stones sign Fulham youngster on loan

Wealdstone have signed Fulham youngster Connor McAvoy on a month's loan.

The defender, 19, has been a regular for Fulham's Under-23 side and now gets a chance to play first-team football.

McAvoy, a Scotland Under-19 international, is expected to make his Stones debut in this weekend's game against Weymouth.

Meanwhile, Charlie Barker has left Wealdstone and returned to Charlton following the end of his loan spell.

McAvoy joins Wealdstone on loan

Fulham defender Conor McAvoy has signed for Wealdstone on an initial one-month loan deal.

The Scottish under 19 international, who has been with Fulham since the age of eight, helped Steve Wigley's under 18s side win the Premier League south title and has become a regular in the under 23 starting line-up over the past couple of seasons. McAvoy, who has made eight appearances and scored three times at under 23 level so this season, will go straight into Wealdstone's squad for their meeting with Weymouth tomorrow.

He joins Fulham goalkeeper George Wickens on loan at the Stones.

Sky Sports expert makes entertaining prediction for Nottingham Forest's clash with Fulham

Nottingham Forest host Fulham at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds come into this one on the back of recording four wins on the spin, after an excellent start to life under Steve Cooper.

Forest have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 under Cooper so far, and scored two goals in stoppage time to beat Bristol City in midweek.

Fulham are also in a good place, and currently sit second in the Championship under Marco Silva having picked up 26 points from 13 matches.

The Cottagers come into this one having recorded back-to-back home wins over QPR and Cardiff City, scoring six goals in their last two matches.

It promises to be an entertaining clash on Sunday, then, and Sky Sports' David Prutton has predicted the outcome of it – he has gone with a 2-2 draw.

The Verdict

It's such a tough game to call given that both sides are in a really good place at the moment.

Forest have made excellent strides of improvement under Cooper and are in excellent form, and they do not look like being beaten.

They have scored two goals or more in five of their last six games, and only managed that only once in 25 matches before that.

Fulham are so good going forward, though, and the return of Tom Cairney will only aid them in their quest for automatic promotion this term.

If Forest can deal with Aleksandar Mitrovic, then they have a chance of getting something out of the game.

Fulham have injury worries ahead of Forest game

Fulham will face Nottingham Forest on Sunday without midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah – and question marks are hanging over Fabio Carvalho, Harrison Reed and Joe Bryan.

Carvalho had his first training session this week after recovering from Covid-19 and a broken toe, as did Bryan following a clash with a post desperately trying to prevent QPR's goal last weekend.

On Reed, boss Marco Silva said: "It's nothing serious, but he's not 100% fit.

"We have one more training session, so we have to see how all three are.

"How long is Chalobah out? It's difficult to say right now. We have to wait and see."

Silva admits the contrast between Forest and a luckless Swansea side on the end of a 2-0 defeat to the Whites on Wednesday couldn't be greater.

He said: "Forest are in great, great form and have a good start under a new manager (Steve Cooper). To win as they did on Tuesday (at Bristol City) in the final minute is a real boost.

"But we are looking forward to the game and will prepare to win it, as we normally do."

Fulham midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah to miss Nottingham Forest tie
Fulham boss Marco Silva has said he doesn't know how long Nathaniel Chalobah will be out for.

Chalobah, 26, has been ruled out of Fulham's intriguing test against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The former Chelsea youngster's time at Craven Cottage has been disrupted somewhat by injury problems so far. A hamstring injury kept him sidelined for the ties against Swansea City and Coventry City and he has now been sidelined once again.

West London Sport states that Chalobah will be absent for this weekend's tie, with Fulham boss Marco Silva adding that the club have to "wait and see" how long he will be sidelined.

Here's what the Portuguese manager had to say:

"How long is Chalobah out? It's difficult to say right now.

"We have to wait and see."

With question marks also surrounding an injury to midfielder Harrison Reed, it will be interesting to see who Silva deploys in midfield against Forest on Sunday.

Who could play?
Jean Michael Seri seems set to maintain his place in the starting XI, but it remains to be seen who partners him in the middle of the park if both Reed and Chalobah are absent.

The recent return of Tom Cairney comes as a timely boost, while Josh Onomah is also an option.

An interesting tie awaits
Fulham are among the favourites for promotion this season and currently sit in 2nd place, only behind undefeated Bournemouth.

This weekend's opponents, Nottingham Forest, sit in 14th, but are on an upward trajectory following the appointment of Steve Cooper. Forest have won four consecutive games and will be determined to keep that run going with a statement result against Fulham.

Pre-Forest Press Conference

Marco Silva is relishing the opportunity to take on the Championship's most in-form side on Sunday afternoon.

Nottingham Forest have taken 13 points from a possible 15 since Steve Cooper's appointment, including victory at Bristol City in midweek despite trailing heading into stoppage time.

"They are in great, great form," Silva admitted. "It's a great start for their new manager, Steve. They are achieving results. The last game, the way they won gives them a big, big boost."

"They are in a great moment. That is good, it means the game will be open, both teams trying to win the game.

"I'm 100 per cent sure the atmosphere in their stadium will be really good. We have to embrace that challenge, go there and play our best."

Silva will be ticking the City Ground off his stadium list at the weekend, and he's anticipating some good noise on the banks of the River Trent.

"It will be my first time there," he said. "I will enjoy the atmosphere for sure. I will enjoy it definitely because I know what it means to play there. I know what it means to play with that crowd behind them.

"They're in a very good moment, and for me, as a manager, that's everything that I want; to enjoy the moment, to enjoy that atmosphere.

"Even if [the atmosphere] is for them and against us, it will be good. This is my first feeling as a football manager.

"The other is that Steve has had a great, great start. They've had fantastic numbers, the way they are winning, the last game when they were losing until the last moments.

"It's fantastic to play against a team who don't just have quality, but are also in a very good moment in terms of confidence, in terms of results as well. It's fantastic that team will face us, and we will try to play to win.

"They will be aggressive, they will have the crowd behind them, but Fulham Football Club – in its best level – can win the game.

"They will force us to do that, and we go with the same ambition that we played the last two games at home."

Chalobah ruled out of Forest trip

Fulham will definitely be without Nathaniel Chalobah for Sunday's trip to Nottingham Forest and could be missing several other key players, according to Marco Silva.

Harrison Reed was withdrawn at half time in Wednesday night's win over Cardiff City after feeling his calf late in the first half – and head coach Silva says he will wait as late as possible before making a decision over whether the former Southampton midfield can participate at the City Ground. Both Joe Bryan and Fabio Carvalho have resumed training following their respective injuries but the Fulham boss told his pre-match press conference this afternoon that it was too soon to know whether either could be involved this weekend.

Discussing Reed's injury, Silva said:

It's nothing serious, but he's not 100% fit. We have one more training session, so we have to see how all three are. How long is Chalobah out? It's difficult to say right now. We have to wait and see."

Silva is wary of in-form Forest, who have yet to lose since replacing Chris Hughton with Steve Cooper, who came close to being offered the Fulham job earlier this summer.

"Forest are in great, great form and have a good start under a new manager. To win as they did on Tuesday in the final minute is a real boost. But we are looking forward to the game and will prepare to win it, as we normally do."

Bournemouth clash switched to Friday night

Scott Parker's return to Craven Cottage with Bournemouth has been switched to Friday night for television coverage, Fulham have confirmed this afternoon.

All the latest Nottingham Forest team news ahead of Fulham clash

Nottingham Forest will be looking to extend their winning run to five games this weekend as they host Fulham.

The Reds have enjoyed an excellent start to life under Steve Cooper, picking up 13 points from a possible 15 under the Welshman.

It promises to be the toughest test yet for Cooper in charge of Forest, with Fulham sitting second in the Championship.

But Forest go into this one full of confidence, especially after winning in such dramatic fashion on Tuesday evening.

Forest didn't pick up any fresh injuries in Tuesday night's win, either, with Cooper not facing any dilemmas in that respect.

The only players who remain sidelined are Loic Mbe Soh and Jordi Osei-Tutu with thigh and hamstring injuries respectively.

Elsewhere, Rodrigo Ely, who is yet to make an appearance for the Reds since joining on a free transfer, rolled his ankle recently which set him back.

But otherwise, it's as you were for Forest.

Preview: Nottingham Forest vs. Fulham - prediction, team news, lineups

A resurgent Nottingham Forest side host promotion contenders Fulham in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Forest are up to 14th in the table after a great start to life under Steve Cooper, while the Cottagers are second.

Match preview
Nottingham Forest were bottom of the Championship when Cooper arrived a month ago, but they have taken 13 points from a possible 15 under the former Swansea City boss.

The Tricky Trees staged a sensational late comeback to beat Bristol City 2-1 on Tuesday evening as Lyle Taylor scored twice in 90 seconds in second half stoppage time.

It was a fourth successive win for Forest and means that they head into the weekend just four points behind the playoff positions.

Forest's credentials to fight for a place in the top six will certainly be tested over the next week, as after facing Fulham they travel to fifth-place Queens Park Rangers.

However, no team has picked up fewer points at home in the Championship this season than Forest (four); a 2-1 win over Blackpool last weekend was their first league victory at the City Ground this season.

They host a Fulham side who have just one win in their last four away matches and lost 4-1 to Coventry City in their last game on the road.

The Cottagers are the Championship's top scorers though with 29 goals to their name, meaning an Aleksandar Mitrovic-led attack will fancy their chances against Forest's defence who have kept just two clean sheets in 13 games.

It was goals from Mitrovic and Tom Cairney that secured a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City on Wednesday, which was Fulham's third win in four games.

The result lifted Marco Silva's side into the top two, but they remain five points behind leaders Bournemouth with a crucial clash against third-place West Bromwich Albion to come next weekend.

Fulham have won four of their previous five games against Nottingham Forest, winning 1-0 at the City Ground the last time the teams met in July 2020.

Nottingham Forest Championship form:

    W    D    W    W    W    W

Fulham Championship form:

    L    D    W    L    W    W

Fulham form (all competitions):

    L    D    W    L    W    W

Team News
Lyle Taylor's two goals off the bench against Bristol City put him in a strong position to take Lewis Grabban's spot in Forest's starting XI.

Joe Lolley and Alex Mighten also made an impact as substitutes in midweek so will be pushing to start on Sunday.

Jordi Osei-Tutu, Loic Mbe Soh and Rodrigo Ely all remain sidelined through injury for the East Midlands side.

Harrison Reed went off injured at halftime in Fulham's win over Cardiff, putting Tom Cairney in the frame to make his first start of the season.

Fabio Carvalho and Joe Bryan are both back in training following their injuries, but it would be a surprise to see either start at the City Ground.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Championship's top scorer this season with 13 goals in 13 appearances and netted in his last outing against Forest in August 2019.

Nottingham Forest possible starting lineup:
Samba; Worrall, Figueiredo, McKenna; Spence, Yates, Colback, Lowe; Johnson, Taylor, Lolley

Fulham possible starting lineup:
Rodak; Odoi, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson; Seri, Cairney; Wilson, Reid, Kebano; Mitrovic

We say: Nottingham Forest 2-2 Fulham

This will be Cooper's toughest test yet as Forest boss, but he will certainly feel his side can get a result and continue their impressive form. Fulham have slipped up on a few occasions this season but still possess one of the best squads in the league, so we think this game will end level.

View from the opposition: Nottingham Forest (a)

Ahead of Sunday's trip to Nottingham Forest, we caught up with huge Forest fan Ben Dore to get the lowdown on all the goings on at the City Ground so far this season. Ben, the star of a popular Forest Youtube channel, was kind enough to give up his time to answer a few questions ahead of our game this weekend.

What have you made of Forest's start to the season?

It was a terrible start with poor tactics and the manager constantly blaming the players for very poor results. The turnaround in the last month has been unbelievable.

Why did it all go wrong for Chris Hughton?

Chris Hughton's approach was very defensive and his tactics were very dull. This clearly affected the players. Under Hughton, there was toxicity amongst the supporters and most of us felt very disconnected from the club. All of this made things much easier for our opponents – and the result was disastrous.

What has Steve Cooper changed? Things seem to have started very well with him at the helm.

Steve Cooper has come in and removed all that anger almost immediately. Suddenly, there's a real connection between the fans, the team and him – and a bond between each other again. There's energy on the pitch and excitement off it. He's the polar opposite to Hughton.

Where could you realistically finish come the end of the season?

I think if we can carry on the fantastic form under Cooper then the top six wouldn't be out of reach. That might sound a bit crazy and it is early days under the new manager, but a bit of euphoria is understandable given that we looked like we were going down under Hughton. They say winning is a habit and we've certainly rediscovered that at the moment!

Who should we look out for on Sunday as the dangerman?

Since Cooper has taken over, Lewis Grabban has been outstanding and proved me so wrong. He's been brilliant. Young Brennan Johnson has been great as well but Ryan Yates has been fantastic for Forest after putting up with so much hate at the start of his career here.

Finally, can you give us a score prediction?

I'm going to go for 1-1. Fulham have been fantastic so far this season and will be a really tough test but Forest are on a feel high and we should give you a good game.

Massive thanks to Mr. Dore for his time – and the very best of luck to Forest for the remainder of the season.

Hilton spot on to fell Forest

Sonny Hilton scored an 85th penalty as Fulham's under 23s came from behind to see off a spirited Nottingham Forest and consolidate their grip on top spot in the Premier League 2 Division 2.

Steve Wigley's side's unbeaten home record appeared in real jeopardy when Ollie Hammond crashed in a tremendous long-range strike to give the visitors the lead. That was a fitting reward for Forest's enterprising start that had seen Will Swan head into the arms of Taye Ashby-Hammond in the opening seconds and Ateef Konate drag a drive inches wide. Fulham, with a side that featured Terence Kongolo and Domingos Quina, struggled for their usual fluency with two efforts from Adrion Pajaziti the closest they came to mustering a response.

Forest might well have been two up before the break but Josh Barnes fired wildly over at the far post after Fulham had failed to decisively clear a corner. The away side continued to look dangerous at the start of the second half with Ashby-Hammond having to be at full stretch to push a Swan shot aside for a corner. Hilton seemed like Fulham's most likely source of an equaliser and his instinctive effort from distance was brilliantly kept out by Nicky Hogarth.

Jean-Pierre Tiehi couldn't make a telling contact on the end of a teasing Quina cross as the hosts upped the ante and substitute Kieron Bowie bulldozed his way through the Forest defence just moments after coming off the bench but shot fractionally wide of the far post. Fulham were penning their opposition back now and they got their reward midway through the second half. Ziyad Larkeche roamed forward from left back and his speculative shot was deflected past the unfortunate Hogarth.

The Forest goalkeeper made a brilliant instinctive save with his legs to prevent Bowie from putting Fulham in front, but the Scot still had a telling role to play in the outcome of this tense fixture. The former Raith Rovers forward floated a beautiful ball over the away defence that Terry Ablade sped onto and the Finnish forward was brought down by Hogarth as he bore down on goal. Hilton took responsibility from twelve yards, calmly placing his penalty into the corner to give the young Whites the lead with five minutes remaining.

Wigley's side held out for another impressive home victory, which drew on all their reserves of character. Fulham are now four points clear of West Brom at the top of the table, with the Baggies due to take on Stoke City on Monday afternoon.

FULHAM UNDER 23s (4-2-3-1): T. Ashby-Hammond; Fossey, Larkeche, Odutayo, Kongolo; Page, Pajaziti; Hilton, O'Neill, Quina (Ablade 56); Tiehi (Bowie 56). Subs (not used): McNally, C. Robinson, Harris.

GOAL: Larkeche (66), Hilton (pen 85).

NOTTINGHAM FOREST UNDER 23s (4-3-1-2): Hogarth; Back, Donnelly, Richardson (Fernandes 86), Sanders; Fornah, Barnes, Hammond (Gibson-Hammond 71); Konate; Swan, Larsson. Subs (not used): Akers, Fewster, Salmon.

BOOKED: Larsson, Konate, Hogarth

GOAL: Hammond (27).
