View: West Ham should reignite interest in Fabio Carvalho after contract snub

West Ham will be on red alert after reports emerged that Fulham youngster Fabio Carvalho could leave the club in January.

The Sun reported this week that teenage sensation Carvalho could leave the Cottagers in January after rejecting yet another contract extension offers.

This time the West London outfit presented before him a "massive" deal to keep him at the club. However, the 19-year-old has turned it down.

Fulham have now given up on their hopes of persuading him to stay put. He has a contract at the club till the end of the season, and the club are now looking to sell him in January.

The news should put the Hammers on red alert as they were one of the clubs to have shown interest in him during the summer transfer window.

Must consider

Back in August, the Daily Mail reported that West Ham were interested in signing the whizkid. He was born in Portugal but moved to England at an early stage.

He rose through the club's academy ranks, and is seen as the latest jewel to have come out of the club's fabled academy.

Fulham cannot lose him for free next summer, and the decision to cash in on him makes sense.

He is a creative attacking midfielder with an eye for goal. At Fulham, he has proved that he is ready to take his career to the next level, and a move to the Premier League is ideal for him.

West Ham need to sign a striker, no doubt, but another attacking midfielder would be a handy addition.

On top of that, he is available at a bargain deal, and it would be wise to invest in a player who could potentially become a top-class attacking midfielder in years to come.
