England wonderkid has head turned by Liverpool & Chelsea transfer interest

Fulham reportedly believe that exciting youngster Fabio Carvalho is having his head turned by transfer interest from bigger clubs.

The 19-year-old looks a huge prospect after impressing in the Championship with Fulham, as well as at youth level for England, and it could now earn him a major move in the transfer market.

According to Eurosport, Liverpool and Chelsea are among Carvalho's suitors, as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid, and Fulham seem concerned by all the interest.

Liverpool and Chelsea certainly seem like they'd be tempting destinations for a talent like Carvalho right now, with both clubs doing very well in the Premier League and Champions League and often building their sides around talented young players.

That could give Carvalho the chance to play regularly at a high level, with both Liverpool and Chelsea also likely to soon be in need of signings in attack.

Jurgen Klopp surely needs a bit more depth behind his first choice front three, especially as Sadio Mane's form has been a little more patchy in the last year or so, suggesting he may be past his peak.

Chelsea, meanwhile, may well be disappointed with how the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic have got on recently, with Carvalho possibly representing an upgrade.

Fulham set to rival Southampton in January swoop for France-based midfielder

Fulham are interested in making a potential move for Angers midfielder Angelo Fulgini during the January transfer window, according to The Sun on Sunday (07/11/21, p59).

Fulgini is a player that is in-demand ahead of the winter transfer window following his impressive performances for Angers in the French top flight this season.

That has seen the midfielder manage to register two goals and one assist in 13 appearances, as well as average 1.7 shots and 0.7 key passes per game.

It has already been reported by Football Insider that the likes of Southampton, Brighton and Brentford are all potentially interested in making a move for the talented midfielder when the winter transfer window opens.

And according to the latest report from The Sun on Sunday (07/11/21, p59), Fulham are now ready to enter the race for his signature.

Marco Silva's side are thought to be hoping that they can convince the midfielder to join them while they are still in the Championship.

The report adds that Fulgini could be made available to sign by Angers for a fee of around £10 million during the winter window.

The Verdict

This would be an excellent signing if Fulham were able to pull this off and it would have to be regarded as a major coup for them considering the midfielder has interest from the Premier League at the moment.

Fulgini is the sort of player that would instantly add quality to this Fulham side and it would be the sort of addition that could provide them the extra boost they may need in January to get themselves over the line in the race for promotion.

The midfielder will be able to see Fulham riding high in the Championship and that could help to convince him that a move to Craven Cottage might be a good one for him.

However, it will still be hard for Silva to convince him to swap top-flight football for the English second tier.

You could see the midfielder ripping up the Championship with his quality if he adapted well to the league. Therefore, it would be really exciting to see Fulham manage to pull this move off in January.

Crystal Palace keen on hijacking European club's move for Fulham player

Crystal Palace are interested in potentially hijacking Napoli's permanent move for Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa next summer, according to The Sun.

Anguissa left Craven Cottage in the summer on a season-long loan deal to Napoli and the midfielder has been an impressive performer in the Italian top-flight so far this term.

In total, he has been winning an average of 7.6 duels per game and also completing 2.4 successful dribbles per match in his nine league starts.

It has been consistently reported in the Italian press that Napoli are interested in signing Anguissa on a permanent transfer in the summer at the end of his loan deal.

However, it has also been reported that they could attempt to negotiate Fulham down on the fixed sum they would have to pay to make the move permanent.

According to the latest report from The Sun, Palace wanted to sign Anguissa in the summer and Patrick Vieira still hopes that he convince the midfielder to potentially move to Selhurst Park next summer rather than signing permanently for Napoli.

The Verdict

This would be a very shock move considering that Anguissa was wanting to try and force through a move to Napoli in the summer and he has been performing well for the Italian side throughout the season so far.

Napoli though would potentially need to pay the full fee that Fulham want for the midfielder to make the permanent move happen.

That is because Marco Silva's side will not need to lower their asking price if they have interest from elsewhere as well as Napoli.

Therefore, Palace could potentially have a route to signing Anguissa in the summer if they are willing to pay the full amount that Fulham would demand.

It would be an excellent coup for the Eagles if they were able to pull this off next summer.

It does seem inevitable though that Anguissa's long-term future lies away from Fulham even if they were to go all the way in the Championship and secure promotion to the Premier League this season.

Resolute Rodak reignites Fulham's promotion push

Marek Rodak could have been forgiven for feeling fed up in August. He started Marco Silva's first season on the edge with the Portuguese head coach's handpicked goalkeeper Paolo Gazzaniga preferred in between the sticks. Having been elbowed out of the first team picture by loanee Alphonse Areola after playing such a pivotal role in Fulham's promotion to the Premier League, the Slovakian could easily have sulked. Instead, he knuckled down and resolved to take his chance when he came. After Gazzaniga's gaffe sparked a shocking second half collapse in the Coventry rain, Rodak was restored to the starting line-up and Fulham haven't looked back since.

A run of five consecutive clean sheets has underpinned Fulham's fantastic recent form that has now opened up a handy six point cushion over third-placed West Brom. If you were in any doubt as to the importance of having the right man in goal, it would pay to have watched Rodak relentlessly marshall his back four in recent weeks. Even with the Whites costing at home to the Baggies and at Blackburn, the goalkeeper gave his defenders a rollocking when they found themselves out of position. At London Road yesterday, he let his gloves do the talking. Two terrific second half saves denied Jonson Clarke-Harris – his fingertip onto the far post when the striker looked certain to equalise was sublime – whilst a full length dive to keep out Joe Ward's free-kick was equally impressive.

Patience and confidence in his own ability is something that Rodak has had to rely upon. He signed for Fulham at sixteen after a successful trial when the Whites scouting network spotted him starring inn the Kosice youth team and lesser characters might have been overwhelmed by the prospect of moving to a foreign country at a tender age. Not Rodak. He threw himself into English lessons and training sessions at Motspur Park and was soon fast tracked into the under-18 side. He was picked as the first choice keeper for Fulham's Dallas Cup winning under-19 side in March 2013, making crucial penalty saves in the semi-final shoot-out.

Rodak went on to keep goal brilliantly as Fulham's under 18s went all the way to the FA Youth Cup final and, after making the bench for the first team at Leeds, he got a taste of senior football on loan at Farnborough, where he made five appearances as they battled against relegation from the Conference South. Rodak had another fight with adversity at cash-strapped Welling, who didn't win any of his first thirteen games, in an ultimately unsuccessful battle against the drop. But his character, footwork and shot-stopping ability impressed many a visiting scout – and Accrington Stanley stepped in to take Rodak on loan in January 2017.

He went straight into John Coleman's side with Stanley anxiously looking over their shoulder at the wrong end of League Two. He kept eight clean sheets in twenty appearances as Accrington put together a thirteen-match unbeaten run to finish comfortably in mid-table after briefly flirting with the play-offs. Those assured performances attracted attention from Rotherham United, whose old school manager Paul Warne was taken by the goalkeeper's 'bravery' and bolshiness. It proved an inspired decision as the Millers went up via the League One play-offs, with Rodak outstanding in the play-off final at Wembley.

He was just as impressive in a second loan spell at the New York Stadium, despite Rotherham losing their brave battle against relegation. It was after Rodak had turned down a third season at Rotherham that he stepped into the Fulham first team, displacing Marcus Bettinelli, and turning a faltering campaign around. Rodak bounced back from a nightmare first start, when he was sent off at Middlesbrough for handling outside his area, to keep fifteen clean sheets in 36 appearances as the Whites went up via Wembley with a memorable win over Brentford. He was unfortunate to be usurped by Areola in the top flight – something which probably cost him a starting spot at the European Championships, after his outstanding penalty save from the Republic of Ireland's Alan Browne in the play-off semi-final shoot out and assured display against Northern Ireland that steered Slovakia to the finals.

But Rodak is now making the most of his opportunity. His first goalkeeping coach was his father, who had a successful goalkeeping career both in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and the youngster's desire to match those high familial standards fuelled his early rise. His sustained excellence in the Fulham goal should now be an immense source of pride. He has worked hard on his distribution, an increasingly critical element of the modern goalkeeper's game, and has been much more decisive in claiming crosses than Gazzaniga. Rodak's already made a massive difference to Fulham's season – injecting real confidence into the jittery back four that had threatened to undermine Silva's enterprising start. Given what he has gone through in an action-packed journey to the Fulham first team, it is no surprise that he remains level headed, something which should another benefit for the Whites as the push for promotion heats up.

'Outstanding,' 'Quality' – Many Fulham fans laud performance of key player in Peterborough win

A number of Fulham supporters were blown away by the performance of goalkeeper Marek Rodak as they secure another vital win away at Peterborough United on Saturday.

Marco Silva's side went into the game looking to extend their winning run in the Championship to six games and potentially put some more daylight between themselves and the chasing pack.

They were able to do that with more of a resilient performance than the one they delivered at Blackburn in mid-week.

Rodak had to bide his time for a chance to impress Silva this season in the Championship following the summer arrival of Paulo Gazzaniga, but the Slovak stopper has now started the last six games in the league during which time he has now recorded an impressive five clean sheets.

Against Peterborough, Rodak was in fine form to help Fulham grind out their win with the keeper on hand to make five saves, three of which were crucial ones that came from efforts inside the penalty area from the hosts.

Many Fulham fans were insisting that Rodak has to be considered now amongst the very best goalkeepers in the division and praised him for his impact on the side.

How Fulham bounced back from Coventry calamity

Cast your mind back to the beginning of October. After Fulham's second half capitulation at Coventry, you didn't have to spend too long on social media or across the various internet message boards to find Fulham fans wondering whether Marco Silva was the right man to take the Whites back to the top flight. The fragility that had undermined Fulham's last season in the Premier League – and surfaced in worrying defeats by Blackpool and Reading – had resurfaced. Fulham had a soft underbelly, the balance wasn't right and the head coach himself looked a bit blindsided after Coventry had scored four goals in fourteen minutes.

The grumbles weren't restricted to that performance. Silva had gone his team selection wrong, dropping Tosin Adarabioyo and Jean Michael Seri before the international break against a side who were flying at home. Perhaps he didn't understand the intensity of the Championship, having never before managed in England's second tier. The man himself made clear his discontent in a caustic interview with the club's official website after the final whistle, when his visceral anger at his side's failure to carry out his half-time instructions carried through the camera. He pledged to put it right – and how he did.

Nobody outside Fulham's tight-knit unit will know precisely what Silva and his coaching staff put their charges through during the international break that followed that forgettable trip to Coventry, but there can be no doubt that a few home truths were told. The fixtures after the fortnight off weren't exactly kind either. I was worried about the prospect of playing Queens Park Rangers, buoyed by a brilliant start to the season under Mark Warburton and with Stefan Johansen returning to Craven Cottage. Would the Whites – who wilted under pressure from the Sky Blues – be up for the cut and thrust of a local derby?

They delivered the most emphatic of answers. Silva's decision to return to Marek Rodak between the sticks after Paolo Gazzaniga had gifted Coventry a route back into the previous contest was decisive – with the Slovakian's sensational form coinciding with Fulham's resurgence. The defence appears much more comfortable with him in goal, he commands the penalty area far more convincingly than the Argentine and isn't averse to berating his back four when it needs doing. At the other end of the pitch, Aleksandar Mitrovic started a six-game scoring streak that has similarly powered Fulham's progress and Silva's progressive passing football was no longer dogged by errors in either penalty area.

The squad went from strength to strength after coming through the adversity of Lyndon Dykes' second half equaliser. Harrison Reed's cajoling of his team-mates in the aftermath of that setback was significant. Silva highlighted his side's character to go on and put QPR to the sword. Fulham had to show patience against a dogged Cardiff side, with Tom Cairney's return from a frustrating year on the sidelines to lash in the opener almost written in the stars. The sight of the skipper close to tears in front of an adoring Hammersmith End will remain with everyone who witnessed such a special moment.

Mitrovic demonstrated his predatory instincts once again after Cardiff failed to clear their lines and another important three points were in the bag. Perhaps Silva's biggest achievement has been rejuvenating the big Serbian, who looked destined to leave SW6 in the summer having been frozen out by Scott Parker as the Whites went down with a whimper. All the talk suggests that Mitrovic is merely a Championship-level poacher, but that ignores both the fact that he netted eleven times in Fulham's dreadful 2018/2019 campaign and that he is fulfilling a far more prominent role in Silva's side. This is almost an entirely different Mitrovic: he looks leaner, hungrier and leads the press from the front – something both Parker and Rafa Benitez proclaimed he was ill-suited for. Like a prime-Bobby Zamora, Mitrovic now drops deep to link the play with deft touches and flick ons, even spraying a sensational 40 yard ball for Harry Wilson's opening goal at Blackburn. The tabloids claimed over the weekend that his pay packet may reach £100,000-a-week: but, having scored 20 goals at an astonishing rate, he's definitely worth every penny. Mitrovic and Fulham could well be in for a record breaking season.

I have felt since the start of the season, viewing the style and openness that Silva imbued upon his new side, that Fulham would give someone a battering before long. Huddersfield felt the sting of our forward line on that first August away day, but poor old Blackburn were on the receiving end of their worst-ever home defeat in midweek. Previous Fulham sides, particularly one managed by the risk-averse Parker, might have sat back on a two-goal cushion but Silva wants his Whites to be relentless. The most pleasing element of that sublime showing was the fact that the goals were shared around, with two great finishes late on from Rodrigo Muniz following a brilliant brace from Neeskens Kebano, who is finally getting a regular run in the first team. The joyous celebrations between Muniz and Mitrovic after the final whistle at Ewood Park emphasised the fantastic camaraderie in the camp.

The win at London Road yesterday was almost more pleasing than the seven-goal romp in Lancashire. Peterborough United were more than just plucky hosts: they stuck diligently to a clever gameplan and grew in confidence as they had some joy on the counter attack. Darren Ferguson's side might have mustered three or four goals, with Rodak's resistance proving vital to the kind of gritty win that is the hallmark of a successful Championship campaign. Fulham will play far better than that, but those slender victories are worth their weight in gold in such a topsy-turvy division.

Silva, who spoke of the need to remain humble in the wake of the huge Blackburn victory, won't allow his players to rest on their laurels. They have Bournemouth in their sights ahead of Scott Parker's return to the Cottage in December. Whilst everyone wants to reel in the Cherries, the Whites have now opened up a six-point gap on West Bromwich Albion, who are stuttering somewhat after an excellent start. The cushion is closer to seven points when you factor in Fulham's absurd +30 goal difference. If the Whites can maintain this new-found consistency, then a swift return to the top flight may be just around the corner.

'Getting silly', 'Unreal' – These Fulham fans heap praise on key man after role in Peterborough win

Fulham continued their fine form as they beat Peterborough United 1-0 away from home yesterday.

Once again, Aleksandar Mitrovic was the man who made the difference, as he headed in the only goal in the 74th minute after some smart work from Neeskens Kebano to ensure Marco Silva's men picked up a hard-fought three points.

The Serbian international has been the outstanding player in the Championship this season, not just for Fulham, with the effort against the Posh incredibly his 20th of the season from just 17 games, whilst he has also registered five assists.

Therefore, the fans are obviously delighted with how the former Newcastle man is performing and they recognise he will be key if the Cottagers are to secure a return to the Premier League, which is looking likely right now given they hold a six-point cushion over third.

2 reasons why Leeds United simply must now move for 19-year-old ace

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Fulham attacker Fabio Carvalho, and he has now rejected a lucrative offer to extend his contract at Craven Cottage.

The transfer window might not be open for another two months, but there are still players that Victor Orta and co will have their eyes on.

January won't see many (if any) senior signing made but the scope to bring in young talent is always there in the under-23s.

The latest player to be linked with a move to Elland Road is Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho – as per The Sun on Sunday; 08/08/21) – who has started the Championship season brilliantly with three goals and one assist in six appearances.

While interest on its own doesn't hold much weight in terms of a likely transfer, he has put teams linked with him on red alert by rejecting a bumper offer from Fulham to extend his contract.

It means that the player remains with his current contract running down until the end of the season and is expected to move on from the Championship outfit.

Here, we take a look at two reasons why Leeds must pursue the 19-year-old after this development...

He'll be going cheap
Pretty much player who rejects a new contract is forcing a move away from his current club, and in doing so, they are drastically reducing their asking price.

In Carvalho's case, he'd be free to leave in the summer for nothing more than a compensation fee after Fulham offered him a deal, and that would be a sum far lower than his current performances would indicate.

On top of that, if Leeds wanted to pounce early and get him in the doors in January, the fact he only has six months left means there can't be much bargaining from the Cottagers for a substantial fee.

He's currently valued at £225,000 on Transfermarkt, which is probably well below what Fulham would be commanding, but it shows Leeds won't be breaking the bank if they do act on this development.

Pablo Hernandez replacement?
As much as El Mago wasn't utilised much in his final season at Elland Road, his absence has left a hole in attacking midfield for Leeds.

While he was out of the side for a lot of the last term, we remedied that by deploying Rodrigo or Tyler Roberts and neither had the same effect that Hernandez did.

Neither of those two have looked natural to the position having converted from forwards.

Meanwhile, Carvalho looks the part already despite still being a teenager and is adding goals to an already free-scoring Fulham setup.

Going forward, we need more quality in attacking midfield, and asking that of our strikers is not the long-term solution, but Carvalho could well be.

Report: Tottenham among handful of PL sides leading race to sign Fulham starlet

Tottenham are among a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

The 19-year-old has been drawing plenty of attention in the Championship this season, registering three goals in six appearances so far for Marco Silva's side.

However, Carvalho has the Cottagers sweating on his future in West London, considering his contract at the club expires at the end of the season.

As such, that has put a host of Premier League sides on red alert over potential negotiations with the attacking midfielder in January.

TEAMtalk claim Tottenham are among the leading clubs keen on acquiring the teenager's signature alongside Liverpool and Southampton, while Leeds and West Ham are currently holding fleeted interest.

The interest comes following Tottenham manager Antonio Conte allegedly not discussing any January transfer plans as of yet after his recent appointment as the club's new head coach.

The report adds Carvalho is a wanted player abroad and into Europe too, with the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, Benfica and Porto all keeping tabs on his situation ahead of potential deals.

Spurs Web Opinion

This could be one to keep an eye on going forward as clubs can pick up some talented players from Championship sides. Spurs look like they face some competition for his signature if they are going to pursue a move in the near future.

The writer of this article needs to rethink his thoughts on Fab going cheap. According to numerous media snippets he is the most wanted man on the planet.
So if Leeds  come in with a cheeky low bid that will not keep the likes of the big boys away. They will come in with a less cheeky bid and I expect something of an auction taking place. Leeds will not live with likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and other big European clubs. Also if Fab is going to have his head turned it won't be by the likes of Leeds.

This one concerns me. If he goes to Palace, Veira could turn him into an absolute monster of a player.

All this Carvalho talk makes me laugh.
What has he actually done? Scored 3 goals in a team that are creating chance after chance.
He's nowhere near being the best player in our team, so if he leaves will it be a disaster?
Look at Ryan Sessegnon, we got £25 million for him, and we all knew he wasn't worth that.
I couldn't care less if Carvalho stays or goes, nobody is irreplaceable, and he certainly isn't.
