Transfer Tracker: What's the latest regarding Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic? Linked clubs, reported price tag

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been the standout performer in the Championship so far this season, with 21 goals in his 19 league outings.

The 27-year-old is once again proving to be one of Europe's most lethal strikers. Upon his return to the Championship, Mitrovic has been involved in 26 goals for Fulham so far this season, having also helped Serbia qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

But the Fulham man could face a contested January – here we look at what the upcoming winter transfer window could hold for Mitrovic...

Which clubs have been linked with Mitrovic?
Villarreal were linked with a move for Mitrovic earlier this month. Unai Emery's side were credited with an interest having previously raided the Championship for former Bournemouth striker Arnaut Danjuma.

Elsewhere, Italian giants Juventus have been more recently linked with Mitrovic. Juve director Federico Cherubini was reportedly staying over in London last week after his side's Champions League defeat to Chelsea, and he was in the capital looking at potential transfer targets including Mitrovic.

Has there been a price tag reported for Mitrovic?
No recent price tag has been reported for Mitrovic.

At the start of 2020 though, Fulham slapped a £40million price tag on the striker when both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur were keen.

But the Whites tied Mitrovic down to a long-term contract earlier this year, which will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2026 – as per Transfermarkt, the striker is currently valued at £16.2million.

Scott Parker makes key AFC Bournemouth admission ahead of Fulham showdown

AFC Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has admitted it will be difficult to pick his players up from their weekend draw against Coventry City ahead of their top-two clash with Fulham on Friday evening, speaking to the Daily Echo.

The Cherries were on course for a much-needed win on Saturday after falling to a 3-2 away defeat against Derby County the previous weekend and only being able to draw away at Millwall in midweek, as Jaidon Anthony and Philip Billing put Parker's men in control against the Sky Blues.

But Jefferson Lerma's red card in the 68th minute after denying Matt Godden a goalscoring opportunity, just two minutes after his side doubled their advantage, completely changed the game as Mark Robins' side turned up the heat on the home side at the Vitality Stadium.

It was Godden that halved the deficit for the visitors in the 85th minute, before Todd Kane's cross in the fifth minute of stoppage find found its way into the net as they rescued a point, leaving the south-coast side dejected ahead of an important tie against league leaders Fulham.

The Cottagers were only able to draw their last two matches, but have stayed at the top of the tree due to Bournemouth's winless run with one point currently separating the automatic promotion favourites.

Ahead of this Friday night tie at Craven Cottage, Cherries manager Parker admitted he will have a huge task in rejuvenating his side after suffering a last-minute blow on Saturday.

He said: "It will be difficult, of course it will. There's no denying at this present moment in time, we're hurting.

"There's not really much I can say to the team other than we go back, relax and it will be on everyone's mind tonight (Saturday) and tomorrow.

"We live in a world in football where you can't dwell too much, because before you know it we have another big game on Friday. So we regroup and go again."

The Verdict:

This may be an important game for the south-coast side after suffering setbacks in each of their last three games, but it's arguably an even bigger match for Parker who faces his former side later on this week, looking to show the Cottagers what they are missing.

Friday's game provides his current side with both an opportunity and a threat. Although the west London club's home advantage and unbeaten run of nine league games may play in the hosts' favour, the fact they have drawn their last two should be something the visitors should be looking to capitalise on.

Marco Silva's side's draw against bottom side Derby may have been demoralising after failing to be clinical enough in the final third, but the goal they conceded against Preston at the weekend was a more sickening blow with two potential handballs heavily contributing to Ched Evans' equaliser.

This is why Parker's side should be optimistic going into this game, despite this match being one of few they won't be expected to take all three points in.

However, this status as underdogs is something they could take advantage of with less pressure on them, perhaps allowing Bournemouth to play with the freedom needed to win all three points.

Talking Points: Preston

Scores when he wants

The smile on Tim Ream's face said it all on Saturday, after he netted just his third Fulham goal. Almost four years since his last for the Club away to Cardiff City on Boxing Day 2017, Ream showed excellent movement to get between two defenders and stab home Jean Michaël Seri's inviting free-kick. "I saw the gap and just kind of went through it," he explained to FFCtv. "I knew the ball was being put in there and it was just a matter of getting anything on it."

Set-piece specialists

Fulham have not really been the greatest threat from set-pieces in the modern era, though that's all changed since Marco Silva arrived at the Club. Corners and free-kicks have proved incredibly fruitful so far this season, and when you're putting in deliveries like Seri did for Ream at the weekend, it's clear to see why.

Five infringements?

Everyone seemed to expect Preston's equaliser to be ruled out, and with up to five infringements to choose from, it was a bit surprising that it wasn't. Marek Rodák initially found himself blocked off by Emil Riis Jakobsen, who was in an offside position when Ched Evans headed the ball against both of his hands. Evans himself then used his own arm to bundle it across the line. The fact that both players immediately looked across to the linesman suggests they were expecting a whistle, but it never came. "It's a clear foul on Marek," Marco Siva told FFCtv. "Not just one, it's two; elbow in his face and, after, handball. It's difficult for us to accept something like that."

Fulham's hardy souls

A yellow weather warning made the already hefty journey to Lancashire all the more treacherous for the travelling faithful, with late train disruption meaning a number didn't even make it into the ground for kick-off. Almost 900 made the arduous journey, and every single one is deserving of the utmost respect.

If you can't win, don't lose

Last week's target would have been six points, but Fulham found themselves up against two battling sides who will each claim that a draw was the correct outcome. Throw in the illness which had been affecting the Whites, and extending our unbeaten run to nine with a couple more points is far from a disaster.

Every Fulham transfer rumour ahead of the January transfer window

Fulham currently sit in 1st-place of the Championship table after 20 games of the season.

Marco Silva's Fulham look to be steamrolling their way to promotion into the Premier League, following their relegation from it last time round.

The club has taken their game to the next level under the former Everton boss but January could still prove a pivotal month in their bid for promotion.

Here we look at every Fulham transfer rumour ahead of the January transfer window...

The Sun revealed over the weekend that Fulham are lining up an £18million bid for Angers midfielder Angelo Fulgini, who is being seen as a replacement for Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa who The Sun also claim is bound for either Napoli or Crystal Palace.

Elsewhere, Fabio Carvalho looks as though he could be on his way out of Fulham. The 19-year-old has now rejected multiple contract offers from the club and with his current deal expiring next summer, a January sale could well become Fulham's best option with Carvalho not short of suitors.

Lastly, in another piece of potentially devastating transfer news for Fulham fans, Aleksandar Mitrovic is starting to attract a lot of interest from around Europe.

Earlier this month, Unai Emery's Villarreal were said to hold an interest in the Serbian who's scored 21 goals in the Championship this season, with Juventus then becoming the second team linked with Mitrovic just last week.

January then could well hold a few key transfer decisions for Fulham – they resume Championship action against 2nd-place Bournemouth on Friday night.

Fab Wins Johnny Haynes Trophy

The Club is delighted to announce that Fabio Carvalho is the winner of the 2020/21 Johnny Haynes Trophy, after a fantastic season within the Fulham Academy.

The trophy is awarded to the Fulham Supporters' Trust Academy Player of the Year and is voted on by Academy staff and players (U16-23s).

Fab bagged an incredible 11 goals in just 13 games for our Under-23s before going on to make his Premier League debut against rivals Chelsea.

He later scored his first senior goal in Fulham's 3-1 defeat to Southampton.

The youngster has become an integral member of Marco Silva's side, making 10 league appearances and scoring four goals in the process.

Dan Crawford from the Fulham Supporters' Trust said:

"I think it's terrific. Fabio's one of those players who has excited anyone who has watched him play at youth level. He has great vision with his passing and an energy that's really exciting. For supporters, there's nothing better than seeing a homegrown product break through all the way up to the First Team.

"To get this award is recognition from his teammates and his coaches that he's really achieved something special. Hopefully this is just the start for him."

Dan continued, "as a fan you always wonder whether a player can translate the form they showed in youth football into the senior setup. Fabio certainly hasn't looked out of place. That goal he scored against Southampton last season demonstrated his levels of confidence and calmness when he gets in promising positions.

"It's a massive boost for the fans because it proves that the club can develop its own talent and give them a pathway which is ever so important."

Fabio was delighted after being presented the award at Motspur Park:

"This is a very prestigious award and I'm really happy to have won it. My hard work has been rewarded, not just through this award but through the opportunities this club has given me.

"I look back on my Academy days very fondly. I'm still really young, so it's important for me to stay level-headed and humble. The Academy gave me so much and I often look back on my time working my way up."

Academy Director, Mike Cave, added:

"Fabio fully deserves this award. He's consistently performed very well not only on the pitch but off it too.

"He's developed well over a long period of time and was excellent last season for our Under-23s. He was part of a very strong Under-18s team the season before that, so we all certainly saw this direction of travel. Everybody in the Academy is really really proud of him."

Crossing The Line: A Jack & Loz Novel

Two Season Ticket Holders, Jacqui Button and Lorraine Hughes, have written a book about a fictional Fulham team fighting for both promotion and FA Cup glory.

"Just before lockdown we had decided we wanted to write a novel together based on a fictional FFC season in the context of a London mayoral election – Fever Pitch meets House of Cards!" Jack and Loz explained.

"Not being able to go to games through lockdown freed up our time to plan and write instead. Inevitably it involved hours of discussion and deliberation – all over Zoom.

"Our book, Crossing the Line, is a story of a unique Fulham season as the team go on a memorable FA Cup campaign.

"The team has a talisman American striker and an ambitious black-clad manager who is committed to winning the club promotion as the team tries to get back to the Premier League! Alongside are two fans caught up in a Wagatha Christie quest!"

Fans may already be aware of Jack and Loz's popular Twitter blog which provides a summary of every First Team game, and their book is available to purchase from Amazon for £7.99, with a portion of any profits going to the Fulham Foundation.
