Fulham fan Rhys Porter goes behind the scenes at BBC TV

ulham fan Rhys Porter, who has cerebral palsy and received online abuse after posting videos of his goalkeeping saves on social media, goes behind the scenes at Football Focus, Match of the Day and BBC Breakfast.

The teenager, who was made an honorary member of Fulham's first-team squad in September, says his "passion is to help disabled people like me" and "know they've got the same opportunities anywhere they want".

Vote For Mitro!

Aleksandar Mitrović has been nominated for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month award for November.

It's Mitro's third successive nomination, with the big man winning both the September and October accolades.

November wasn't as prolific as those two months for Mitrović, but he still found the back of the net three times in just four matches, while also laying on two assists for Harry Wilson.

Mitro's competition comes from Tom Lawrence (Derby County), Ben Brereton-Diaz (Blackburn Rovers), Lewis Grabban (Nottingham Forest), Nathan Baxter and George Honeyman (both Hull City).

Voting is open now, and you can show your support for Aleks below.

Talking Points: Bournemouth

Wilson vexed

Harry Wilson was left bewildered by the decision not to award him a penalty in the closing stages of the first half. As a one-two came back to him following a short corner with Neeskens Kebano, Wilson cleverly chopped back the way the ball had come, completely fooling Dominic Solanke, whose trailing leg clearly caught Wilson. "He didn't do anything wrong," Marco Silva said of his winger. "Of course, with VAR it would 100% be a penalty. Unfortunately for us it wasn't, it was a yellow card for me!"

Tosin's borrowed celebration 🏹

When Tosin sent the home crowd into euphoria with his first goal for the Club, he decided to replicate a celebration we'd seen earlier in the evening when Solanke put Bournemouth in front. And we later learnt that it was some playful ribbing, with the pair enjoying a close relationship off the pitch, as Tosin explained to FFCtv: "Dom Solanke's one of my best friends so it was just a bit of banter between the two of us."

Next time, Neeskens

Neeskens Kebano must still be wondering how he didn't end up on the scoresheet on Friday night. Four of his five shots were on target, but he found visiting goalkeeper Mark Travers on top form each time, while his best chance arguably was the one that skewed wide after Travers had saved impeccably from Aleksandar Mitrović. The ball came at him quickly, though, so it was a trickier take than it appeared in real time. Clearly the fans placed no blame at Kebano's door, either, with the wideman absolutely dominating the Man of the Match vote.

Rocking Cottage

It seems that after most games this season we've been talking about how much noise the Fulham faithful made, but the atmosphere from start to finish was absolutely magnificent for the visit of the Cherries, peaking with an explosion of sound when Tosin drew us level late on. "Oh, it was brilliant," said Tom Cairney of that moment. "The atmosphere was the best it's been this season, by far. And that's without the [Riverside] stand, imagine if it was full, it would be an absolute joke. It's an amazing feeling kicking towards that [Hammersmith] end, it feels like they're sucking the ball in, so it was a good moment."

Cook spoils the broth

Credit where it's due, Steve Cook's double block in the first half is some of the best defending we've seen from an opposition player this season. Aleksandar Mitrović finding space in the box usually only has one outcome, but the Bournemouth captain made himself big to repel the shot with his chest. He then outdid himself by flinging his body to his left to do likewise to keep out Fabio Carvalho's follow-up.

Journalist hints at the type of player Fulham want to sign in the January transfer window

Fulham are already in a strong position in the Championship this year, having stormed into the automatic promotion spots thanks to the goalscoring prowess of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Now, journalist Alan Nixon has pinpointed exactly where the Cottagers want to strengthen in January, claiming that the side are chasing a goalscoring midfielder.

Marco Silva is already working with a stacked squad, full of players who are capable of not only producing the goods in front of goal but being solid at the back and dictating games from the centre of the field. His side has a wealth of experience at second tier level and it has shown so far this season, as they have picked up some incredible results.

However, the Fulham boss is continuing to look for ways to further improve his team and potentially even land them the league title as well as a promotion.

It looks as though one of his focuses then when the winter window opens could be in midfield, where the manager seemingly wants a player who can offer a goal threat to back up Mitrovic from the centre of the park.

The striker has contributed efficiently in front of goal so far this season and is on course to break a number of Championship records. However, take him out of the team and they may struggle to produce goals on the same basis – and Silva has recognised this, with the boss now looking for someone else to provide goals from other areas of the field.

Who his targets are is unclear but it looks like he could be set for a recruitment drive in midfield when the transfer window does open its doors.

The Verdict

Fulham are an extremely strong side and will certainly be in the top six come the end of the season bar a drastic change in their fortunes. The Cottagers are strong in most areas of the field and have proven to be difficult to deal with for their opposition all season so far.

The news that Marco Silva is on the hunt for further additions will likely worry other Championship teams. The club are already very strong – and if they can find a goal threat from midfield, then it will make them an even more difficult proposition to face off against.

Larkeche nets another PL2 nomination

Fulham full back Ziyad Larkeche has been nominated for the Premier League 2 player of the month award for the second month in succession.

The French left-back was in the running for the October gong after a series of superb performances and his consistency has impressed the judging panel once again. Larkeche made two goals for Steve Wigley's side, who are currently eight games unbeaten and have an eleven point lead at the top of the second division table, and has been part of a miserly back four that conceded just one goal in the course of the month.

The French under-20 international is joined on the shortlist by Arsenal striker Folarin Balogan, West Ham playmaker Sonny Perkins, Derby's Luke Plange, Jesuran Rak-Sakyi of Crystal Palace, the Norwich City left winger Jon Rowe, Southampton's Thierry Small and Spurs midfielder Harvey White.

Opinion: Why Fulham star needs to push for a loan move in January

After managing to secure a late equaliser against AFC Bournemouth on Friday night, Fulham are in good shape going into the Christmas period as they currently sit top of the table.

Recent draws may have been a barrier to further progress, but their current position has still allowed the club to retain a 'feel-good factor', something the fans, the coaching staff, the board and many of the players are benefitting hugely from in what has been a very enjoyable season for the Cottagers so far.

Losses against the likes of Blackpool and Reading earlier in the season may have been setbacks, but their form in front of goal during the campaign as a whole has been exceptional as the best attacking side in the league and this is a record they will want to maintain going forward.

But whilst the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Fabio Carvalho have been enjoying themselves this season, with the form scoring 21 goals already this term and the latter establishing himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet at Craven Cottage, there are those that haven't received as much game time as they would ideally want.

Rodrigo Muniz is one of them as mentioned in a previous piece, but he's only 20 and is likely to win many more appearances throughout the campaign as an impact player, proving to be a real asset late on against Blackburn Rovers last month as he secured a brace.

But the same thing regarding game time can't be said for 28-year-old Joe Bryan.

He may be the next option in the pecking order behind Antonee Robinson at left-back – but with manager Marco Silva possibly wanting to keep a settled back four throughout the campaign with little alterations between and during games – the ex-Bristol City man may find his game time at the club continues to be limited.

So far this season, Bryan has made just six second-tier appearances, playing a full 90 minutes in just two of those games.

One of these matches was the top-of-the-table clash against the Cherries last Friday, an exciting tie for him to be involved in, but he has a real decision to make in January considering he wasn't utilised slightly earlier in the season against Derby County, a game in which Robinson was suffering from illness but still started.

Does he stay at the club and help them to compete for promotion but probably remain on the bench for most of it if Robinson stays fit? Or does he try to push for a temporary move away ahead of a potential permanent departure?

The Cottagers' possible promotion back to the top flight may signal the end of his career in west London if new competition for Robinson is wanted – and that isn't out of the question with Maxime Le Marchand leaving in the previous window. Playing more naturally as a centre-back, the Frenchman also filled in on the left-hand side at times.

At 28, Bryan still has plenty left to offer in the second tier as a regular starter.

And at his age, he should arguably be one of the first names on the teamsheet every week in the Championship and probably would be for most sides in the division, one reason why he has the right to ask for a loan spell away from the club to get more minutes under his belt.

In fairness, all it takes is one severe injury to United States international Robinson to potentially make him his current side's first-choice option down the left for the remainder of the campaign.

But can he really rely on that?

Taking the leap now and moving to a new setting for the remainder may not bring him promotion joy and a medal to go with it, but it would certainly allow him to impress, make his case to Fulham boss Silva and potentially put himself in the shop window ahead of a possible permanent move away from the English capital.

This is why he needs to weigh up his future ahead of the upcoming winter window. In the end, his current side may not let him go considering his ability to step in seamlessly in the event of injuries and suspensions.

Nonetheless, his contract runs out in 2023, so they could be open to a permanent sale either in January or the summer to generate a respectable amount of revenue for his services, even with their option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

Engaging in dialogue with the club now will help the left-back to get a move if that's his wish – so his future is a dilemma he needs to solve prior to the new calendar year.

Exclusive: Jobi McAnuff explains where Fulham rank in the Championship's best ever teams

Fulham currently sit top of the Championship after 21 games with talismanic striker Aleksandar Mitrovic having already netted 21 goals.

The Cottagers have been truly devastating at times this season and inflicted a 7-0 thrashing on fourth placed Blackburn Rovers last month. Fulham only managed 28 points in the Premier League last term and were relegated finishing the season 11 from safety.

However, such is the financial muscle of the club, they were able to retain their best players and improve on their squad in the summer transfer window. Something most second tier clubs were not able to do particularly due to the impacts of the pandemic.

If they win their next two against Luton Town and Sheffield United then Fulham will have 50 points at the season's halfway stage, suggesting that a century of points this season is on, an achievement that would have to rank them pretty highly in terms of the best ever second tier sides.

When asked if Fulham are the best Championship team he has seen, Jobi McAnuff exclusively told Football League World:

"When you look at them certainly as a squad, it has to be one of the strongest squads that has been in the Championship certainly since I've been involved.

"There's players there that haven't been playing that were part of that promotion winning side (2019/20) only a couple of years ago. The likes of Joe Bryan and Michael Hector were real key players who can't even get a game this season.

"I definitely feel as a collective they are one of the strongest teams that I've seen at this level."

Marco Silva's men have had to battle their way to the top of the tree and the season has not been without its ups and downs. But now, out the other side of those, it does appear like the Cottagers could run away with automatic promotion and build on the current seven point gap between themselves and third place in the coming months.
