Dembele was a winger now playing as more of a 10 role, but may be a bit lightweight.
Issia Jones has looked really good for Boro since Chris Wilder took over.
Really hope we get the turk.

The following players contracts are up this summer (I think) :

Ben Mee
Callum Chambers
John Swift
Todd Cantwell
Eddie Nketiah
Ben Brereton (1 year extension clause)

I think they would all make pretty good additions. Not saying they're the way forward but I would certainly be looking at some of those names. I also like Rob Holding from Arsenal who I think would be a good singing for us.

Blackburn want £20m for Brereton btw, no chance of it happening

Isn't his contract up in less than a year though? Can't see how they will get that for him to be honest.

Blackburn are currently second in the table and he has scored roughly half their goals so I assume they'd prefer to keep him and have a shot at promotion.

Whilst I get that, that doesn't detract from clubs finances and short length or his contract (and hes not even on a big deal one) limiting his transfer value. We'll see I guess but I'd be surprised if they found a suitor for 20m.

Just saw Todd Cantwell has a year extension built into his contract as well so like Brereton he won't be cheap.

I don't see Brereton as a January signing, he would be one we could make if we go up and Blackburn don't.

In terms of a player we could get now, I would go for Callum Chambers. He knows the club and would fit straight in, he's versatile, still a decent age- so we would get some resale value on him, and he's an upgrade on a lot of our squad players. With 6 months left on his contract I don't think he would cost a lot to bring in either.

We have Tete and Tosin on the right side of defence. We're quite strong on that side so no need for Chambers. We are weak at LCB, CDM and LW. These are the positions to target this window. Anything else is a bonus.

When Chambers won player of the season with us he played as a defensive midfielder, if we bought him that's where I would play him, he can also play in defence as you say, so he would add versatility to our lines. He's better than the squad players we currently have, he would give Reed competition

To be fair though he won player of the season because he was the only one who put in a decent amount of effort for the whole season rather than being technically proficient. My lasting memories of him were doing well to win the ball back, and then slamming it straight out for a throw-in because his passing range beyond 5 yards was abysmal, and in the possession based system we now employ he'd be a hindrance

Well I disagree, with Silva as manager I think he would do well. Lots of energy and good at breaking up play, he can be an asset and he wouldn't be expensive

The statistics are not very encouraging, surely we can do better?
Sounds as if he would soon find his place in the pecking order behind Stansfield and Muniz. We don't need to add depth but instead to add one outstanding striker who can displace Kebano in that wide left position, Kebano is doing a reasonable job so to get someone better is not going to be easy and is going to cost us big money, but that is where our effort should be directed.
reasonable ? he's been one of our best players and arguably better then Fabio who everyone can't stop raving about, its like he can do no wrong and was non existent against Sheffield, must be all the Barcelona paper talk hype
Stanfield in my view deserves a proper run of games and could be a bigger prospect

Read an article a couple of days ago that Villa are looking for an upgrade on Matt Targett, I would have him back in a heartbeat,  especially if we can get decent money for Robinson.

filham

Dont know why we are talking about defenders, with only 3 goals in the last five games we need a real bright spark in attack but that player would be replacing one of Kebano, Wilson, Carvalho, Cairney or BDR. They would have to be pretty good and would probably cost more than we can pay. Beginning to think that as long as Carvalho doesn't leave we should continue as we are and that all we need is for Silva to tweak his tactics.

Doubt it's more than a toon rumour as they are being linked to all and sundry, but supposedly they are interested in Solanke.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

That'd hurt them big time, I'd be really shocked if they let him go at this stage.

Me too, he's a better version of Joe Bryan, quality player.

Thank you, I can't take the credit for this one, but he is one of 4 that we want gone this window. We have agreed a deal for 1 player, it's done and all agreed. However, we need to shift Atleast 1 player before we can complete it.
