Fossey set for Bolton loan

Fulham full back Marlon Fossey is set to join Bolton Wanderers on loan for the remainder of the season.

The American defender, who has seen his development at Fulham severely restricted by several serious knee injuries, has starred at right back for Fulham's under 23s this season and had been tipped to make a loan move in January by Steve Wigley. He has contributed five assists in eleven matches from right back with the young Whites top of the PL2 Second Division table. The 23 year-old has yet to make his senior debut for the Whites but was an unused substitute as Marco Silva's side were beaten on penalties by Leeds United in the League Cup back in September.

Fossey, a former United States under-20 international, spent the first half of last season on loan with Shrewsbury Town – making seven senior appearances. Bolton are currently fifteenth in League One, with 26 points from 22 games.

Blackburn and Cardiff eyeing swoop for Championship full-back

Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City are interested in a potential move for Fulham right-back Cyrus Christie, a report from Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (31/12, 17:19) has claimed.

Having spent last season on loan with another Championship side in Nottingham Forest, Christie has yet to make a single league appearance for Fulham during the current campaign.

As a result, it looks as though the 29-year-old could be set for a move to pastures new over the course of the next few weeks.

According to this latest update, both Blackburn and Cardiff have shown an interest in Christie, with the window now open for clubs to do business.

It is thought that Christie will be available for a move this month, with his contract at Craven Cottage expiring at the end of this season.

As well as the Championship duo, La Liga side Elche and Serie A side Bologna are also said to be interested in the Republic of Ireland international.

The Verdict

This does look as though it could be a rather useful signing for one of these two Championship sides.

Christie is an experienced campaigner at this level, and knows how to be successful in the division, having previously won promotion from it with Fulham.

Blackburn and Cardiff are also two sides who look like they could benefit from some extra depth at right-back, while Christie could also be keen on the move, as he looks for game time he isn't getting at Fulham.

This therefore, certainly has the look of a move that could work well for all involved, so it will be interesting to see just how it plays out over the course of the next few weeks.

Update emerges on Juventus' pursuit of Fulham star

Serie A giants Juventus will not be pursuing Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic during this month, according to Calcio Mercato.

The same outlet have reported that the Italian outfit has paid 'great attention' to the Serbian in recent times after seeing him score 22 goals in 22 Championship appearances so far this term, establishing himself as the league's top goalscorer despite the rise of Ben Brereton Diaz and even recording five assists in the process.

However, manager Max Allegri is thought to only consider the 27-year-old as a 'reserve' player despite his goalscoring exploits for both the Cottagers and the Serbian national team, securing his nation's place at the 2022 World Cup in November with his winner against Euro 2016 champions Portugal in November.

Only managing to score three goals in 27 Premier League displays last term under Scott Parker, with his relationship with the now-AFC Bournemouth manager thought to have been strained before the latter's Craven Cottage departure, he is thriving with current boss Marco Silva and signed a new contract back in August to extend his stay in the English capital.

This deal runs until 2026 with the automatic promotion hopefuls under no real pressure to sell him – and will be hoping he remains one of the first names on the teamsheet in January and beyond as they look to secure an instant return to the top tier.

The 27-year-old is also thought to be have been the subject of interest from La Liga side and current Europa League champions Villarreal.

But after this latest development from Calcio Mercato, a move to Italy at least, now seems unlikely.

The Verdict:

Although the Italian club potentially had the financial power to make this deal happen, it was always questionable as to whether he would be a regular starter in Turin with the likes of Moise Kean, Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala also able to play up top.

Cristiano Ronaldo did leave on deadline day in the summer to join Manchester United, but Moise Kean seemed to be his replacement and with the Cottagers likely to demand well over £20m for his services considering his contract situation, this may be a move they should steer clear from at this stage.

This could be the best outcome for all parties, with Allegri's men not paying over a sizeable eight-figure fee to bring him in, Mitrovic continuing to be settled in west London under Silva's stewardship and his current club having a striker at their disposal that can guide them to the Premier League.

Rodrigo Muniz could potentially step up to the plate, but no one can expect him to be able to fill the Serbian's shoes straight away and after seeing West Brom struggle in front of goal this season, Fulham will be aware of the importance of having a firing main goalscorer at their disposal.

They would be able to bring in a replacement with the money they would generate from his potential sale, but not rocking the boat too much in terms of incomings and outgoings this month could be key to their automatic promotion hopes.

Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano reveals the latest on Liverpool-linked Fabio Carvalho

Fulham attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho is a player of considerable talent and he could well be leaving Craven Cottage in the near future.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been linked with the 19-year-old in recent months and, given his contract is still up in the air at Fulham, with it running out at the end of this season, the talented youngster could be a potential Anfield arrival for the future.

Anfield Watch spoke to journalist Fabrizio Romano to get the lowdown on the situation with the player...

"Many clubs are keeping an eye on him," Romano said.

"Liverpool sent their scouts to watch him so it's about scouting and not negotiating at the moment. So we will see if Liverpool will decide in the coming months to jump into negotiations for him.

"But as of now, it's just a scouting activity as they do for many players. So it's nothing like advanced or a priority for Liverpool.

"I'm sure that he will have loads of opportunities if he's not extending his contract with Fulham. But nothing has been decided yet."

Romano: Liverpool are scouting 'fantastic' Championship teenager

Liverpool are among the clubs keen on signing Fulham teenager, Fabio Carvalho, according to respected journalist and transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.

Carvalho is one of the standout teenage talents in English football at the moment. He burst onto the scene last year and started this season fire, scoring three in five games before being injured for Fulham. However, he has turned down offers of a new contract at Craven Cottage and is free to leave in the summer.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old as they look to keep tabs on the attacker.

"Many clubs are keeping an eye on him. Liverpool sent their scouts to watch him so it's about scouting and not negotiating at the moment. So we will see if Liverpool will decide in the coming months to jump into negotiations for him," Romano told the Anfield Watch website and YouTube channel.

"As of now, it's just a scouting activity as they do for many players. So it's nothing like advanced or a priority for Liverpool. I'm sure that he will have loads of opportunities if he's not extending his contract with Fulham. But nothing has been decided yet."

Carvalho has scored four times this season in 13 games for Marco Silva's side. The youngster has impressed, too, with Silva labelling Carvalho 'fantastic' after the Cottagers saw off Millwall.

TBR's View: Liverpool A Good Fit For Fabio Carvalho

You can't beat getting your hands on the best up and coming youngsters in football if you're a top club. Liverpool have done it before with Harvey Elliott from Fulham, and Carvalho fits a similar bill.

If you're Carvalho, then you'll be buoyed by seeing how many young players have got minutes this season at Anfield. That, and the fact Liverpool are simply a huge historic club.

This would be smart business from the Reds. Carvalho is a serious talent and at 19, is only going to get better and better.

Napoli set to sign Anguissa in January

Napoli will trigger their option to turn Fulham midfielder Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa's loan into a permanent deal this month, according to a report from the Sun this evening.

Patrick Vieira had made the Cameroonian international one of his top January transfer targets having been disappointed to miss out on Anguissa when he made plain his intention not to be play in the Championship on the eve of the new season. The 26 year-old has starred for Napoli, for whom he has made 18 appearances so far this season, and the Serie A side are ready to complete his £13m move in this transfer window.

The Sun suggests that Fulham are keen on snapping up Angers attacking midfielder Angelo Fulgini, but the French playmaker would prefer a Premier League move.
