"Liverpool sent their scouts to watch" dazzling 19-year-old that super-agent wants to take to Anfield

Liverpool sent scouts to watch dazzling Fulham teenager, Fabio Carvalho, according to Fabrizio Romano, after a previous report suggest super-agent Jorge Mendes wants his client to move to Anfield.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated across Europe and is currently plying his trade in the Championship but is expected to make the step into one of Europe's top leagues in the coming months.

Liverpool is reportedly the ideal destination for Mendes and Carvalho

According to a report from the Daily Mail from November, the super-agent failed to get Barcelona and Real Madrid to snap up the talent.

Mendes has a good relationship with Liverpool after he was involved in the deal to bring Diogo Jota to the club.

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool have scouted Carvalho but that's it

The Italian journalist spoke to the Anfield Watch as part of an exclusive interview on all things Liverpool.

He revealed: "Many clubs are keeping an eye on him.

"Liverpool sent their scouts to watch him so it's about scouting and not negotiating at the moment. So we will see if Liverpool will decide in the coming months to jump into negotiations for him.

"But as of now, it's just a scouting activity as they do for many players. So it's nothing like advanced or a priority for Liverpool.

"I'm sure that he will have loads of opportunities if he's not extending his contract with Fulham. But nothing has been decided yet."

Harvey Elliott is the last player that Liverpool signed from Fulham and fans will be hoping that if the Reds do indeed move forward and sign Carvalho that he turns out to be as exciting.

The Liverpool star is on the comeback trail after suffering a serious injury earlier this season against Leeds United.

Fulham player departure on verge of completion

Fulham midfielder Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa will complete a permanent transfer to Italian giants Napoli this month, according to The Sun.

And it will scupper any hopes of Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace throwing a curveball into the mix with the Eagles interested in doing a deal for the Cameroon international.

Napoli took the midfielder on loan late on in the summer transfer window and he's been a regular feature for the club in Serie A.

Anguissa has played 15 times in the league for Napoli and they are set to trigger the option in the deal to turn it into a permanent one, with a fee of around £12.7 million agreed in the contract.

That is significantly lower than the reported £30 million it took for the Cottagers to prize him away from Marseille in 2018, and he only spent two full seasons at the London club having joined Villarreal on loan for the 2019-20 season.

After featuring regularly in the Premier League for Fulham last season, Anguissa was snapped up to play at the highest level yet again and now he's set to finally depart on a full-time basis.

The Verdict

There's no doubting that Anguissa would be a player of high class in the Championship, but he clearly did not want to play in England's second tier.

And with Fulham having decent options already in midfield it made sense to get rid of the 26-year-old, but they were never going to get the fee they paid for him.

Anguissa did have some good performances in the Premier League last season and that is why he attracted interest from the likes of Palace and Napoli.

This is good for Fulham though because they can potentially re-invest the incoming money and Marco Silva may be able to freshen his squad up for the rest of the campaign.

'The end of Aiden McGeady' - Fans deliver transfer verdict after Sunderland linked with £12m ex-Fulham and Celtic star
Sunderland are said to be closing in on a deal to sign Manchester City playmaker Patrick Roberts – and supporters have been quick to react to the link on social media.

The 24-year-old has been loaned out to several clubs, including Celtic, Norwich and Middlesbrough, during his time at City after being bought for a fee rumoured to be £12million.

Following a loan spell at Derby last season, Roberts joined French club Troyes in the summer but is reportedly ready to cancel his contract with just one Ligue 1 appearance to his name.

According to Football Insider, Sunderland have agreed to sign the attacker on loan until the end of the season.

The report also claims Roberts was at the Stadium of Light to watch Thursday's 5-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

But what have Sunderland fans made of the link on social media? Here, we take a look:

Leigh Barker: "That'll be the end of Aiden McGeady. "

Alan Crompton: "This fella has played 13 minutes this season, so even if he signed today I would think he wouldn't even be up to speed until February. Nee idea when McGeady is back, but cannot see anyone being dropped for him now."

Andrew Hall: "Strength in depth is what we need, especially with Broadhead out now. Gooch isn't always on his 'A' game so having competition is perfect."

Marc Pennock: "Personally, I would send broadhead back, won't be fit again for months so pointless being here

Anthony Ritson: "Personally I think we need someone to go upfront we are doing well at the minute but we need to keep it up in case we need a change."

Neil Swainston: "He will add some depth to the squad."

John Morgan: "If he finds his form from his stint at Celtic it's a no brainer, the guy is class but since he left Celtic his form has dipped massively, I think he is a confidence player so if the lads can rally behind him and give the support he needs he will do the business. on his day he is far better than Jordan Jones who did well for us."

Kenny Anderson: "Who'd you drop to play him though?"

Watford ready to terminate Quina loan

Watford are exploring alternative destinations for midfielder Domingos Quina in the January transfer window as they consider terminating his unsatisfactory loan at Fulham, according to reports this evening.

The former Portuguese under-21 international joined Fulham on loan from the Hornets on the final day of the August transfer window but has struggled to make much of an impression on Marco Silva's first-team squad following the return to fitness of promising teenager Fabio Carvalho and captain Tom Cairney. Quina has made just three appearances for the Whites and hasn't been included in a first-team matchday squad since October.

Watford are eager for Quina to be playing regular football and are ready to recall him from Craven Cottage if they can find a club willing to offer him first-team football. The 22 year-old started Fulham's 1-0 defeat at Blackpool in September but his only other appearances have come as a substitute in the 4-1 win at Birmingham four days later and in the League Cup against Leeds.

Watford Looking at New Loan Options for Domingos Quina

The Observer's Ryan Gray understands that Watford want Domingos Quina to find a new club on loan in the January transfer window after he only managed three appearances on loan at Fulham and Watford want to ensure he is getting more game time.

Watford Want Domingos Quina to Get More Game Time
Watford Unhappy With Fulham Loan

At the end of the summer transfer window, Fulham signed Quina on a season long loan deal from Watford, but the player is now likely to be heading back to his parent club as they look at new options for the midfielder. Fulham have an option to buy the player at the end of the loan spell, but he has fallen out of favour with Marco Silva who, in October, told football league world that the player: "Has to work harder."

It now seems that Silva has not been convinced by his efforts – he hasn't played for Fulham since. Watford feel the player hasn't been given enough chances and now want to bring him back and find him a better loan option.

Potential

Silva also stated that it was not just in games where Quina was not working hard enough: "He got his chance and that is clear by getting in the starting 11 against Leeds and Blackpool, and it was not just a matter of performance, but in the training sessions as well."

There is undoubted potential with Quina but he needs to work hard when on loan because that is a players' chance to show his parent club just how good they can be. And he will need to ensure that he heeds Silva's warning whoever his next loan club may be because if he doesn't he could be putting that great potential in jeopardy. Watford, for one, will be hoping to see the next move work out.

It looks as if Anguissa and Quina could be severing their ties with us. Does that mean there will be money and space available for a new midfield signing in this window.

Is Mendes now Carvalho's agent, only seen that he was 'brokering' awhile back.
Is this just more lazy 'journalism' ??

I don't believe mendes has in any way been connected to Fabio, just made up rumours.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.
