Bournemouth, Fulham and Nottingham Forest handed transfer boost

Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles is reportedly keen to leave Oakwell this summer – in a boost Bournemouth, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest's hopes of landing him.

The 22-year-old was a key player during the play-off run under Valerien Ismael and remained pivotal last term – though he was ultimately unable to help the Tykes avoid relegation to League One.

Styles' current contract runs until 2023 and Barnsley have a one-year option, meaning they're under no obligation to cash in on him this summer.

However, according to the Yorkshire Post, Styles is one of a number of leading players at Oakwell that are keen to leave – with centre-back Michal Helik also thought to be part of that group.

The former doesn't seem to be short of suitors with The Mirror reporting earlier this month that promoted Championship trio Bournemouth, Fulham, and Forest have all been watching him.

The 2022 summer transfer window opened today meaning the Premier League new boys are now able to strike a deal for Styles should they want to follow through on that interest.

The Verdict

This is certainly good news for Bournemouth, Fulham, and Forest.

Styles' is a bright talent and while there are certainly question marks about whether he's ready to impact Premier League games, the 22-year-old would be a smart signing from a long-term perspective.

The player's stance cannot be a surprise to Barnsley as, while losing him will clearly be a blow should he depart, they should not have expected a player of his quality to be content in League One.

We could well see a fair bit of squad turnover at Oakwell this summer, with the Tykes thought to be keen to get rid of some of their recent transfer flops and some key players understood to be keen to leave.

Fulham inch closer to deal with departing Lazio stopper Thomas Strakosha

After weeks of interest and chasing, Fulham are inching closer to sealing a deal to land wantaway Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, according to The Sun.

Fulham have been chasing the Albanian for a while now but The Sun's Daniel Cutts says that this is about to end as the Cottagers close in on him.

Cutts writes that Strakosha "has been in talks" with the Londoners "for a number of weeks."

The 27-year-old is out of contract with Lazio and Cutts says he "wants to test himself in England."

Strakosha primed and ready for Premier League

Athens-born Strakosha started out with APOEL Nikosia in their youth side before being snapped up by Greek side Panionios in 2009.

He moved from their U20s set-up to Lazio's U19s in early August 2012 and has progressed with the Italians from there.

He has managed to build up 208 appearances for the Italian giants, conceding 247 times and keeping 62 clean sheets.

Last season the 19-cap Albanian international made 23 Serie A appearances, conceding 29 goals and keeping seven clean sheets.

That level of involvement would see Strakosha primed and ready for the Premier League.

What Fulham need for the Premier League...

Fulham will be wanting to arrest their yo-yo, up-down reputation as a side worthy of promotion but destined for relegation.

Building from the back is always a good strategy in a league as tough as the Premier League.

The Sun say that Strakosha will be signing for Fulham on a four-year contract worth somewhere in the region of £1million-a-year.

He's an experienced keeper in one of Europe's elite leagues. He has 164 appearances at this level as well as 27 appearances in European cup competitions.

Bringing in Strakosha on a free transfer could be a masterstroke for the Cottagers as they look to survive in English football's top tier.

Fulham closing on the signing of 27-year old

Fulham are closing in on the signing of Lazio's Thomas Strakosha on a free transfer.

According to the Sun, the Cottagers have been in talks with the goalkeeper for a number of weeks over a move.

The goalkeeper looks set to trade one capital city for another as he departs Rome following the expiration of his contract at Lazio.

The shot-stopper wants to test himself in England and sees Fulham as a great opportunity to do so.

It is expected that the Albanian will receive a hefty welcome to London, with a big signing-on bonus believed to be part of the agreement between Fulham and Strakosha.

While the deal has not yet been finalised, it is believed that it is now just a matter of time before everything is officially confirmed.

Fulham have beaten Southampton to the signing of the goalkeeper, with the Saints in the market to replace Fraser Forster.

However, The Athletic have since reported that a £10 million agreement with Manchester City over the signing of Gavin Bazunu has been reached.

Fulham will be hoping to maintain their survival in the Premier League having been relegated at the first time of asking in their last two promotions to the top flight.

The Verdict

Fulham have had some uncertainty in goals under Marco Silva, so bringing in Strakosha could solve plenty of problems with the team.

The step up from the Championship to the Premier League requires some top flight experience between the sticks, which this signing should provide.

The former Lazio man spent six seasons in Serie A, competing at a high level and even played a key role in Simone Inzaghi's title challenging team.

Bringing the 27-year old in as a free agent is also a shrewd use of resources and could free up funds for bigger signings in more important areas of improvement.

PFA Team Of The Year

Fulham have five representatives in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

Tim Ream and Tosin make up half of the backline, Harry Wilson and Fabio Carvalho are in midfield, while Aleksandar Mitrović is one of three forwards to be selected.

Huddersfield Town's Lee Nicholls is in goal, with Djed Spence of Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth captain Lloyd Kelly completing the backline.

Kelly's teammates Phillip Billing and Dominic Solanke are in midfield and up front, respectively, with Blackburn Rovers' top scorer Ben Brereton Diaz taking the final spot in the team.

The PFA Team of the Year is voted for by all the players in the Championship, so congratulations to Tim, Tosin, Harry, Fabio and Mitro on their inclusions!

Could this be our Premier League starting XI?
In a joint post, Arthur Duke and Cayden Dorman look at how the Whites could line up on 6 August in the Premier League.

In this piece I've teamed up with Cayden Dorman, an admin of the popular Instagram account, FulhamFanpage11. We've decided to tackle the biggest question surrounding Fulham right now: where does Tony Kahn need to invest and what players could fit the Marco Silva Mould?

The following XI is set out in a 4-2-3-1 shape, but it has the potential to be dynamic with the types of players we've picked. I'll cover the goalkeeper up to the first CDM, and Cayden will justify our choices for the remaining spots. Ultimately, we've chosen this team on the balance of data, credible transfer rumours and opportunities in the market.

GK: Thomas Strakosha
It feels like an eternity since Fulham's fielded the same goalkeeper in back-to-back seasons, and that looks set to continue. Given the edgy moments surrounding Rodak this season, Fulham have inevitably been linked with a plethora of goalkeeping targets. The list so far has included Henderson, Pope, Areola, and of course our shot-stopper of choice, Thomas Strakosha.

He presents a unique opening in the market. Other targets have both wage and transfer fee hurdles, all aspects of a deal that make a move for Strakosha more plausible. And Strakosha isn't short of experience – and success – at the highest level; he's got his hands on four trophies during a nine-year spell at Lazio.

Strakosha is a keeper who fits Silva's mould; he's known for his strong abilities with the ball at his feet, evident in his 81.1% pass success rate in 23 Serie A appearances last season. It shows that Marco can rely on Strakosha to start passing progressions from deep. His weaknesses of handling long range shots can no doubt be improved under the mentorship of Hugo Oliveira. With that said, Strakosha would be a great shout to come in and start in between the sticks in this XI.

RB: Kenny Tete
The right-back berth has been the subject of much speculation over the last couple of weeks. Fulham have been linked with the return of both Ryan Fredericks and Neco Williams and while these would not necessarily be bad moves, we believe Tete is the best option available to start next season.

For a start, Kenny's already on our books, allowing funds to be allocated elsewhere. In addition, he's an established defender at the highest level having played a role in the latter stages of the Champions League, Ligue 1 and of course Premier League campaigns in the past.

He's versatile; this is clear from his role in Scott Parker's pragmatic back five a couple of seasons ago, as well as a more advanced role in Silva's system. It's going to be crucial next season for this Fulham team to supply Mitrovic, and Tete provides an avenue to create danger on that right-hand side. Given that both Williams and Odoi have departed within the last six months, it's still important to reinforce this position, but we shouldn't drop Tete for a new signing.

RCB: Tosin Adarabioyo
It's no surprise that Tosin keeps his place in this 11, with the real question being: how long can Fulham keep hold of him? And how do we build a defensive unit around him? Tosin has been nothing short of fantastic in the 21/22 campaign; on the rare occurrences he's been unavailable we've had a huge problem, resulting in painful defeats to Sheffield United (A) and Coventry City (A).

To echo what's common knowledge now, Tosin is strong defensively and just as good in opposing scenarios. He averaged 74.7 passes per game last campaign, achieving a pass success rate of 86.8% in the process. In addition, Tosin has been the heartbeat of our defensive stability, making on average 1.2 interceptions and 3.6 clearances per game. At 24 years of age, he's destined for the very top – but it's essential that he remains in our back four if we're to achieve survival.

LCB: Nathen Ake
Fulham are in desperate need of centre-back reinforcements as result of Michel Hector and Alfie Mawson departing, alongside the ageing status of veteran Tim Ream. Fulham as a result have been rumoured to have interest in multiple candidates, including James Tarkowski, Ko Ikatura, Joe Gomez, Alexander Djiku and Levi Colwill. The centre-back we have picked to partner Tosin is not linked with a move to SW6, but is surely on Tony Khan's radar.

Nathen Ake joined Manchester City (on a five-year deal) from relegated Bournemouth for a transfer fee of £40m back in 2020. But given his lack of appearances (just six starts in the premier league last season), his price tag should be significantly lower than the fee paid two years ago. Ake would also sit relatively well with the Fulham squad, having briefly crossed paths with Tosin at Manchester City and also having spent a year with Harry Wilson at Bournemouth. He's also represented his country alongside Kenny Tete. And after coming through the academy at Chelsea, a move back to London may suit all parties.

It's not just the interesting links that make Ake a suitable candidate. Seeing as he's had a lack of appearances for Manchester City. It's best to look at his time scrapping for survival with Bournemouth. In that time, he exceeded most numbers Tosin put up in the last championship season, with two goals and two assists alongside a pass success rate of 87.6% and an average of 2.1 aerial duels won per game. He's a ball-playing centre-back with a willingness to move the ball forward and quickly, which can only fit into what Silva wants to replicate in the Premier League.

As a result, Ake fits next to Tosin in this back four. And should this move materialise, between £20m and £30m would be the negotiating ground between Fulham and the Premier League champions.

LB: Alex Moreno
I'd be lying if I said we'd planned to include Alex Moreno at left-back in our initial draft of this piece. However, Matt Targett sealing his permanent switch to Newcastle meant we had to redirect our attention to other suitors, which may not necessarily be a bad thing.

Alex Moreno has had concrete links to Fulham, and a potential move looks to be advancing in the right direction. An initial price tag set at €15 million by Real Bettis was met with a €12 million bid by Fulham. And after this proposal was turned down. Reports suggest the two clubs are close to agreeing a final fee. On the players front, there seems to be no issues with a reported four-year deal already in place.

When we look at the stats that Moreno has put up last season, Moreno could certainly be a transfer that flies under the radar and surprise a lot of people. Moreno is known for being strong and consistent in the defensive third; last season he averaged 2.5 tackles and 2.3 clearances per game in the Spanish top flight.

The real question marks lie in his impact in the offensive third. His crossing and general long passing abilities have been criticised in the past. However, the Spanish left back scored five and assisted three in the 2021/22 LaLiga campaign, and when looking at his average heat map above, he certainly has the foundations to elevate his game to the next level. It's also worth noting that Antonee Robinson had similar flaws in his game that left us Fulham fans frustrated last time in the Premier League, but Marco Silva and his backroom staff were able to improve his crossing abilities, which contributed to the 106 occasions that Fulham put the ball in the back of the net last term. With a more established and well-rounded left-back, Moreno would have serious potential under Marco Silva's tutelage.

CDM: Al-Musrati
To partner Harrison Reed in the middle of the park comes a player with concrete links to Fulham; he's even rumoured to have put off an international call up with Libya in order to make his move to Craven Cottage happen.

Al-Musrati is currently on the books at Braga and operates as either a box-to-box midfielder in the number eight role, or in front of the back four as a six. His stats point to his key strengths being with the ball at his feet, and being able to hit passing targets from distance. He's also accurate in delivering set pieces.

In offensive areas, Al-Musrati tends to be conserved in taking on players, and opts to use his passing ability to break teams down. The more I go on, the more I begin to draw comparisons to Jean Michel Seri and while most of us believe Seri warranted a new deal, Al-Musrati could provide a better option as a younger player and as a result, consistency in the team.

The rumours and stats are more than enough to warrant Al-Musrati in a midfield three with Reed and our third midfield choice.

CDM: Harrison Reed
Harrison Reed has certainly been a standout player since his arrival in SW6. His work rate and vision is top tier, and his efforts are still yet to be rewarded with a goal, which his teammates have made clear to him. Reed will be hoping to display his qualities yet again in the Premier League after a promising season with Parker in the top flight. His tenacity and will to win is visible to all us, giving him the nickname "special one Iniesta" and recognition throughout England comparing him to Kalvin Phillips and some even saying Harrison is better. I'm sure a lot of people will be pleased to see Reed's name on the team sheet next season.

CAM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has proven a bench-warmer in recent years at Liverpool, and while we haven't been linked with him, I believe that he could bolster our midfield and allow us to attack with intention. After watching the Ox for many years, it's clear that he loves a shot from outside the box, which is something we lacked in many games last season, albeit winning the league and scoring 106 goals.

Alex's creativity and Champions League experience could help the Whites retain their Premier League status. Many Fulham fans' eyes would light up if Tony could make the move happen and the Fulham faithful will be praying his wicked right foot can save us from despair once again. Let's hope the versatile Liverpool midfielder craves a move back to London for this season.

RW: Harry Wilson
With some key players ready to step up to the big league, Harry Wilson is certainly one to keep an eye on. His inch-perfect crosses onto the head of Mitrovic this past season have proven deadly to the Championship defences, and if he can provide his qualities this coming season, safety could come easier than anticipated. Should something go wrong within the squad, Harry's versatility to play at the point of the midfield could come in handy if Marco can work out a worthwhile solution.

LW: Manor Solomon
One player Fulham have been targeting all summer is the 22-year-old Israel international, Manor Solomon. His technical ability on the ball is one of the best, if not the best, Israel has ever seen. Solomon is small in size, but very strong physically, which could benefit this Fulham team under Marco Silva as he likes players who can dominate on the pitch. His goals tally may not be anything special, but the goals he scores certainly are.

Solomon would be coming into the team as both a Carvalho and Kebano replacement as he's versatile and can operate in those positions best. Fulham fans will be hoping Manor will be tempted to Stevenage Road by the attacking mentality Silva brings to the club, giving him the best opportunity for success. A deal worth a reported £7m is certainly one Tony Khan should snap up.

ST: Alexander Mitrovic
Another player eager to prove himself after a few rough seasons in the Prem would be Aleksander Mitrovic. His physical strength and tactical awareness inside the box was by far the greatest in the Championship, and he looks worthy of another chance in Europe's greatest league. It's safe to say that Marco Silva has brought out the Hulk in Mitrovic, helping him not only break, but destroy records people could only dream of. Mitrovic will be desperate to prove haters wrong and prove his worth to the Premier League.

Harry's Game . . . Wales Star Wilson Already Dreaming Of England World Cup Clash

Harry Wilson has warned England that Wales will be no World Cup pushovers.

Wales joined England, the United States and Iran in Group B at Qatar by beating Ukraine in Sunday's play-off final in Cardiff.

The two home nations will meet in the final round of group fixtures at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on November 29.

It will be their first meeting since England beat Wales 2-1 at Euro 2016, although the Dragons went on to claim top spot in the group and reach the semi-finals of the competition.

"Wales against England is a massive game no matter where it is," said Fulham midfielder Wilson.

"But with it being on the World Cup, the biggest stage, it is going to be that extra bit more.

"We will be going in there full of confidence and there is no reason why we can't get a result against England.

"We would be lying if we said we hadn't looked at the fixtures. We all have friends in the England team.

"I have a couple in the USA team as well from Fulham.

"We will be having a bit of banter about them, but once those games come around we will be against each other for 90 minutes.

"I will be doing all I can for Wales and they will be doing all their can for their country."

Having lost to Poland last week, Wales suffered a second Nations League defeat on Wednesday as Wout Weghorst's stoppage-time header gave Holland a 2-1 victory in Cardiff.

It was Wales' first home loss since November 2018, as a record-breaking run of 19 games without defeat came to an end.

Wilson said: "I think we are in a great place with the squad, we have a good mixture of youth and experience.

"Some of the boys have been there and done it at Euro 2016, and some of us younger boys were able to experience it last year with the Euros.

"We are playing good stuff. We don't lose many games. We are disappointed with this one, that is a good trait to have.

"We are going to go to the World Cup full of confidence and ready to take on anyone."

Wales' next Nations League test is at home to familiar foes Belgium on Saturday.

Robert Page's side will then complete their June programme of five games in 14 days against Holland in Rotterdam on Tuesday.

"We have played Belgium a lot in recent years," said Wilson, 25, who became Wales' youngest ever player at the age of 16 years and 207 days against the Red Devils in October 2013.

"They were number one in the world for a number of years and we know it is going to be difficult.

"But we will watch this game back, take the positives, and make sure we are fully focused."

Fulham's Championship dominance in 2021-22 made crystal clear by PFA team of the season

Marco Silva's side racked up 90 points and scored more than a century of goals in the second tier last season as they sealed an immediate Premier League return

Championship winners Fulham dominate the 2021-22 PFA divisional team of the season with half the outfield players plying their trade for the Cottagers.

Marco Silva's side clinched the title last term thanks to a haul of 90 points and by scoring a whopping 106 goals - just missing out on Manchester City's second tier record set in the 2001-02 campaign. Fulham side had the most players of any team in the EFL's Championship team of the year which was announced back in April, with four.

Now, they have gone one better in the official 2022 PFA Championship Team Of The Year with five players named in it. Goal machine and Championship player of the season Aleksandar Mitrovic is joined by defenders Tim Ream and Tosin Adarabioyo as well as midfield pair Harry Wilson and Fabio Carvalho - who has since signed for Liverpool.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a staggering 43 league goals for Fulham last season

Bournemouth who also secured automatic promotion to the Premier League, have three players in the side: defender Lloyd Kelly, midfielder Phillip Billing and striker Dominic Solanke.

Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Lee Nicholls also makes the cut, just as he did in the EFL team, after a superb season that saw him keep 18 clean sheets. Djed Spence, who excelled during his season-long loan at Nottingham Forest from second tier rivals Middlesbrough, and Blackburn's 22-goal forward Ben Brereton Diaz complete the side.

In terms of the two respected sides of the year, there are just three differences. Instead of Ream, Carvalho and Brereton Diaz the EFL XI includes Fulham's Antonee Robinson and Forest pair Joe Worrall and Ryan Yates.

Mitrovic's manager Silva was full of praise for a player who scored a total of 43 league goals - breaking the record for the most goals scored in a 46-game English league season, set by Guy Whittingham for Portsmouth in 1992-93.

"Aleksandar has performed at a very high level this season," said Silva. "Of course, the goals he scored and the records he has broken have created the headlines. He deserves to end the season by having his personal achievement recognised with Golden Boot award for the 43 goals he scored in the Championship. His accomplishment is a consequence of the good work of the team, and he will be the first person to appreciate and recognise the contribution from his teammates.

"As well as scoring goals, Aleksandar has been a fantastic team player. He has been involved in every part of matches from good positional play, linking with teammates and his defensive duties and he has fully embraced our philosophy."

Fulham will now be aiming to avoid recent history that has seen them immediately relegated following promotion to the top flight in both 2018 and 2020.

PFA Championship Team of the Year for 2022

Lee Nicholls - Huddersfield Town

Djed Spence - Nottingham Forest

Tosin Adarabioyo - Fulham

Lloyd Kelly - Bournemouth

Tim Ream - Fulham

Harry Wilson - Fulham

Philip Billing - Bournemouth

Fabio Carvalho - Fulham

Ben Brereton Díaz - Blackburn Rovers

Aleksandar Mitrović - Fulham

Dominic Solanke – Bournemouth

Liverpool aiming for £30m influx by offloading two loanees to PL newcomers

Transfer News: Liverpool place equal price tag on Neco Williams and Nat Phillips

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool 'will allow' Nat Phillips and Neco Williams to leave this summer if the price is right, amidst interest from Bournemouth and Fulham respectively.

Phillips was out on loan at the Vitality Stadium for the second half of the season and helped his team win promotion. The same was the case with Neco, who did a good job with the Cottagers in their bid to return to the Premier League.

It is natural for them to want to keep their squad intact- at least the quality players- and then build on that. Seeing Phillips and Williams return to LFC would then give these clubs a scouting headache which they can do without right now.

The Reds apparently want £15m each for the Englishman and the Wales international. If completed, that would take the total sum to around £30m, which would be a neat influx given the players involved.

What next for Neco and Phillips?

Williams doesn't really have a future in our starting XI given Trent Alexander-Arnold's rise. Connor Roberts is doing a solid job and will continue to be a regular starter for Burnley.

If Neco struggles for playing time, which he will, given TAA's performances, then Robert Page would naturally be inclined to keep selecting the Burnley man over Neco. As for Nathaniel Phillips, the situation is a bit similar.

He cannot get minutes here under Jurgen Klopp simply due to the fact that the Reds have a stacked defensive line. It is best that the two players leave Anfield to reignite their careers elsewhere.

And in turn, the Reds can get in some cash that can then be used to strengthen the team in other positions.

Sheffield Wednesday close in on signing of former Fulham and Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale

Exclusive: Sheffield Wednesday have identified Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper David Stockdale as the perfect replacement for Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Sheffield Wednesday are in advanced talks to sign Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper David Stockdale, Yorkshire Live can exclusively reveal. The former Premier League shot-stopper has been identified as the perfect replacement for Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who has returned to Burnley following a productive loan spell at Hillsborough last season.

As things stand, Stockdale is due to become a free agent at the end of June. The 36-year-old has been offered a new contract to extend his Chairboys stay.

But Wednesday are hopeful of reaching an agreement to sign Stockdale and prise him away from their League One rivals. Stockdale played an instrumental part in Wycombe's run to the play-off final last term.

The former Fulham, Birmingham City and Brighton Hove Albion shot-stopper played every minute of the regular league campaign, recording 18 clean sheets to help the Chairboys finish sixth in the table. His fine form saw him share the League One golden glove with Plymouth Argyle's Michael Cooper.

Stockdale produced a superb performance in the second leg of their play-off semi-final with Milton Keynes Dons to ensure Gareth Ainsworth's side made it through to the Wembley showpiece final. Stockdale, though, was powerless to prevent Wycombe from losing 2-0 to Sunderland in the final.

Leeds-born Stockdale, who was part of Huddersfield Town's youth system before joining York City in 2000, has predominantly plied his trade in the Championship during his nomadic 19-year pro career. As well as Fulham, Birmingham and Brighton, he also countsWakefield-Emley (loan), Darlington, Rotherham United (loan), Leicester City (loan), Plymouth Argyle (loan), Ipswich Town (loan), Hull City (loan x2), Southend United (loan), Coventry City (loan) and Stevenage (loan) as his former clubs. Stockdale boasts a wealth of experience in the game, having racked up over 450 club appearances.

Stockdale has two promotions to the Premier League on his CV with Hull (2013) and Brighton (2017). He was also named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year when the Seagulls secured the second automatic promotion spot behind Newcastle United.

After two separate loan spells with Wycombe, Stockdale joined the club on a permanent basis in September 2020. He briefly dropped down into League Two to join Stevenage in search of regular first-team football but was recalled for Wycombe's Championship survival fight.

As for international honours, Stockdale was selected in a number of England squads when Fabio Capello was in charge back in 2011 and worked alongside the likes of John Terry, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. He was never capped by his country.

"Maybe he can come back" - Harry Wilson hints at Neco Williams' future

Former Liverpool player Harry Wilson has praised Neco Williams for what he achieved during his loan spell with Fulham.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the winger said that he was very impressed with how Williams performed during his time at Fulham.

"He was in a decent position at Liverpool to learn from the best right-back in the world (Trent Alexander-Arnold) but it came to a point where he had to go get minutes for himself and it has benefited him massively," Wilson said.

"Obviously, Neco had the option halfway through the year to get some game time with Fulham and I spoke to him beforehand. I thought the way we played, the style of football at Fulham, suited him.

"I feel like when you're at that age, you need to get first-team football. He came in January and it was like he had been there for the full year. He'd done really well, managed to get a couple of assists, few goals as well, lots of minutes under his belt.

"Neco was at a similar age that I was when I had my first loan to Hull. Everyone can see that when he puts on a Wales shirt. I think we can see from his performance the other day that did him a world of good. And who knows? Maybe he can come back next year."

Anfield Watch Verdict

It seems pretty certain that Williams is going to continue his career away from Anfield next season. His impressive loan move to the Championship seems to have earned the 21-year-old a lot of admirers.

A recent report from the Liverpool Echo, as cited by AW's Twitter account, claimed that the Reds will allow the Welsh international to leave this summer for a fee of £15 million.

That's a reasoable price for a 21-year-old with 20 international caps and a Premier League winners medal in his trophy cabinet.

Williams' contract with Liverpool doesn't end until 2025 either and the fact that he's classed as homegrown means that the Reds could probably demand much more if they wanted to.

Fulham and Southampton considering bids for 24-year-old Watford man

Watford are watching the interest in their striker Emmanuel Dennis mount up more and more, with a new report from The Athletic suggesting that both Fulham and Southampton are now considering bids for the player.

Ever since the Hornets were condemned to football back in the Championship next season, there have been teams linked with the 24-year-old.

It's no surprise considering his record in the top flight. Even though Dennis played for a side that spent the majority of their campaign battling against the drop zone, he managed a total of ten goals and six assists in just 33 league games for the side.

It suggests that the forward can certainly cut it at the top level – and now that Watford are facing at least a season in the Championship, there are plenty of sides from the Premier League again lining up to keep him in the top tier of English football.

West Ham have been one of the names most heavily linked, with Brentford another mentioned. Now though, it appears that two more teams have joined the race for the player's signature with Fulham and Southampton believed to be keen.

The Cottagers could really benefit from Dennis in their forward line, with the side desperate to kick on in the top flight and ensure that they stay up in their first season back. Southampton too are desperate to add more goals to their team and Dennis hit double-figures last year so certainly could offer them.

One thing is clear though and that is that Watford may struggle to hold on to the 24-year-old this summer – even with no bids officially made as of yet.

The Verdict

Emmanuel Dennis is one of the most in-demand strikers in the Championship this year and it looks more and more likely that he won't end up staying in the second tier beyond this summer.

His record in the top flight has clearly caught the eye and has meant that there are Premier League sides now queuing up to get a deal done during this offseason. It certainly seems as though the striker will have his pick of sides when the offers start to come in and it could come down to which team he fancies more.

Watford would no doubt love to keep the 24-year-old whilst they are in the second tier, as his goal record in the Premier League suggests that he could be even better a division lower. He would no doubt be able to fire them into the promotion places and he could therefore really help the Hornets cause.

It doesn't look probable though – and the club might be best off selling him sooner rather than later, so that they can then use the funds to find a suitable replacement for them.

New Premier League threat emerges to Wolves for Joao Palhinha despite 'agreement in principle'

Wolves appear to be closing in the signing of Joao Palhinha from Sporting CP, but could reportedly face late competition from Fulham.

Palhinha is near the top of the Wolves shortlist for transfers this summer. He could potentially be a replacement for Ruben Neves, who has given the club good service but may be willing to find a bigger stage now.

Wolves could once again look to Portugal for his successor. At the age of 26, Palhinha is in his prime years and may be ready for his first taste of Premier League football.

There have been several reports about Wolves' interest in the Sporting star. Now, Record are reporting that a deal is close between the two clubs.

Supposedly, Wolves have an agreement in principle to pay Sporting €20m (£17m) for Palhinha's services.

However, they are yet to get a deal over the line, perhaps because Neves has not moved on yet.

What's more, the report claims Fulham are now ready to make their own offer of €20m to Sporting in an attempt to hijack the deal.

Fulham will need to find reinforcements after securing promotion back to the Premier League. Just like Wolves with Bruno Lage, they have a Portuguese manager in the form of Marco Silva.

Hence, either club could increase their Portuguese contingent by adding 14-cap international Palhinha.

It would seem Wolves would have the advantage due to their longer-lasting pursuit. But things can change quickly in the transfer market.

Still, Lage wants him at Molineux and they are working on the deal. They will hope to stay ahead of Fulham in the transfer battle.

Joao Palhinha would be better off at Wolves than Fulham

Wolves would seem to be a better destination due to the stability they have enjoyed in the Premier League recently. Fulham, on the other hand, have been up and down between the top flight and the Championship.

The London outfit keep showing ambition to establish themselves, but have struggled to sustain themselves in the top tier. Therefore, until they can prove they belong in the Premier League, targets may be more inclined to choose clubs like Wolves.

Lage guided his side to the top half of the Premier League last season despite their struggles for goals. With a few appropriate tweaks, though, they could aim even higher.

Palhinha has played at European level before with Sporting and Braga, and if he comes to the Premier League, it may be Wolves who give him the best chance of getting close to it again, rather than Fulham.

Fulham closing in on Thomas Strakosha signing

Fulham are close to finalising a deal to sign Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, 90min understands.

The Cottagers have been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper as they prepare to return to the Premier League for the 2022/23 season.

Paulo Gazzaniga made just 15 appearances last year following his move from Tottenham, with Marek Rodak slotting back into the starting role for the latter portion of the campaign.

90min previously reported that they had explored re-signing Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain after his successful loan spell in west London during the 2020/21 campaign.

However, the France international is likely to join West Ham on a permanent deal and Marco Silva's men swiftly turned their attentions to Strakosha.

The Albanian stopper's contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires at the end of June and he is available to sign on a free transfer.

Strakosha made 208 appearances for Lazio in all competitions and he's been capped 19 times by his country, and will bring a wealth of experience to the goalkeeping position at Craven Cottage.

Nottingham Forest want to sign £15m Liverpool defender

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Neco Williams from Liverpool in the summer transfer window after losing the race to secure the services of Djed Spence to Tottenham Hotspur, according to 90min.

90min have reported that Forest wanted to sign Spence on a permanent contract from Middlesbrough following his successful loan spell at the City Ground this past season.

The 21-year-old, who can also operate as a right-winger or as a right wing-back, helped the Reds win promotion to the Premier League.

With Tottenham set to sign Spence, Forest have now decided to try for Liverpool right-back Williams and Manchester City youngster Issa Kabore, according to 90min.

Neco Williams should leave Liverpool for Nottingham Forest

In our view, Neco Williams should seriously consider a move from Liverpool to Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.

The Times have reported that Liverpool are willing to sell the 21-year-old Wales international right-back and are looking for £15 million as transfer fee.

Forest will play in the Premier League next season, and Williams will play at a top level consistently.

That will only help him do well for Wales at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.

Wolves still keen on signing £17million-rated Joao Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon despite interest from Fulham... with Bruno Lage targeting improvement in midfield as star man Ruben Neves considers leaving Molineux

Joao Palhinha has been on Wolves' radar for years and could move for £17million
Sporting Lisbon are prepared to sell the 26-year-old, who has 14 Portugal caps
Wolves boss Bruno Lage will be in the market for midfielders in the market
Ruben Neves is ready to leave and has been given a £70million price tag

Joao Palhinha remains a key target for Wolves this summer despite Fulham also expressing an interesting in the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Sporting are prepared to sell the 26-year-old, who is hugely admired by Wolves boss Bruno Lage, for about £17million, and they have been in discussions with the Molineux club for some weeks.

Lage's priority is to improve his midfield this summer with doubts over the futures of his regular starters. Star man Ruben Neves is ready to leave Wolves and has been given a £70million price tag, while Leander Dendoncker is also thought to be available and Joao Moutinho is in discussions over a new deal.

Palhinha, who has 14 caps for Portugal, played for Braga against Wolves in the Europa League in 2019-20, and has been on the club's radar ever since.

After Wolves tailed off alarmingly in the second half of last season, Lage is keen to shake up his squad and is prepared to allow key men to leave. Raul Jimenez is one of those who could depart although any move for the Mexican, who has two years left on his contract, would prove complicated.

Yet transfer funds are likely to be limited. Owner Jeff Shi said Wolves would have 'a new team' in time for next season yet there will be little room for manoeuvre in the market.

'I have to talk with the financial guys in the club,' said Shi. 'I think it's quite tough for every club in the Premier League, so if you look at the ceiling, it's still not easy to just spend. We will do something to have a better squad.'

Fulham attempt to hijack Wolves transfer move for Portuguese midfielder

Fulham are trying to hijack Wolverhampton Wanderers' transfer move for Sporting midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to Portuguese publication Record – via Sport Witness.

Per the report, Bruno Lage's side have reached an agreement with the Lisbon-based side for Palhinha's services for a fee in the region of €20 million.

However, Fulham are believed to have made it clear to Sporting that they are set to offer the same amount of money for the 26-year-old, although that bid has not been made official as of yet.

Palhinha is a defensive midfielder who has played 38 times for Sporting in all competitions during the 2021-22 season, scoring three times, and is also a 14-cap Portugal international.

Marco Silva is looking to strengthen his Cottagers side following their Championship title-winning campaign, with the engine room being one particular area that needs some bolstering.

With Wolves recently declaring their interest in Fulham's initial target Al-Musrati of Braga – per O Jogo – it appears that the newly-promoted Premier League are set to return the favour in the pursuit for Palhinha's signature.

The Verdict

Al-Musrati and Palhinha have been top targets for both Fulham and Wolves respectively early in the summer transfer window, so it is definitely ironic that both clubs are also said to be in for the opposing players as well.

Perhaps Lage and Silva are shopping in the same market, but either club probably don't need both players as they are very similar.

Fulham continue to be linked with a plethora of players from across the globe as their squad definitely needs strengthening in multiple areas if they want to succeed in the top flight next season.

When their first addition comes remains to be seen, but you'd imagine it's more likely to be the Libyan midfielder over Palhinha.

Fulham aim to hijack Hammers deal

Fulham boss Marco Silva is keen to hijack West Ham talks with Alphonse Areola.

We reported per the Daily Mail that Newcastle were looking to do the same but we have learned since that his former loan club The Cottagers are keen to take him back to Craven Cottage.

However, it is far more likely that the Hammers will complete a deal with the Paris St Germain stopper who is favoured by Moyes as the likely No 1 next season.

Arelola wants assurances on that front but it's his wages that present the biggest problem and the Hammers are currently attempting to negotiate them down from a reported £125k a week.

It's very unlikely that Fulham can get close to those numbers although a London Stadium source revealed that they were interested in signing the player following their promotion.

He revealed that the Irons were aware of reports claiming a Newcastle interest and and added: "Fulham are busy in it as well."

Fulham hoping to sign Neco Williams & Takumi Minamino from Liverpool

Fulham are hopeful of agreeing a double swoop for Liverpool duo Neco Williams and Takumi Minamino, 90min understands.

The two clubs are on amicable terms after agreeing deals to send Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho from west London to Merseyside in recent years, and the Cottagers hope their good relationship with the Reds will help them in their pursuit of reinforcements.

Wales international Williams was hugely impressive during his loan spell at Fulham for the second half of the 2021/22 season, helping them to the Championship title.

However, they face competition from a number of Premier League sides for his signature. Fellow promoted outfit Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and west London rivals Brentford are all interested in Williams after missing out on Djed Spence, who is expected to sign for Tottenham.

Liverpool are open to selling Williams for around £15m as they are set to conclude a deal to sign Aberdeen starlet Calvin Ramsay.

Like Williams, Minamino too has plenty of Premier League admirers. Southampton - where the Japan international spent time on loan - Brighton, Leeds and Wolves are keen on the winger, and there remains interest for him across Europe.

Fulham close in on deal for Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who is out of contract at the Italian club... as Marco Silva aims to confirm the first of at least six new signings following promotion to the Premier League

Fulham are expected to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha
The Albanian shot-stopper is leaving Lazio at the end of his contract this summer
Strakosha has spent the last 10 years at the Italian club and played 208 games
The 27-year-old played in Albania's 5-0 defeat to England at Wembley last year
Marco Silva wants more experience between the sticks after winning promotion

Fulham are nearing a deal for Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who is out of contract at the Serie A club.

The Cottagers are looking to bring in at least six new signings this summer following their promotion to the Premier League.

Marco Silva is keen to add experience between the sticks and Albanian international Strakosha fits that bill having played top-flight football in Italy for the last six years.

Fulham are expected to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha from Lazio

Current Fulham shot-stopper Paulo Gazzaniga has played in the Premier League with Southampton and Tottenham previously, but was dropped by Silva just two months into last season after keeping only two clean sheets in 11 games.

Marek Rodak took over and established himself as the club's number one as they won the Championship title, but the Slovakian only has two top-flight appearances to his name which came in the Cottagers' last spell in the Premier League.

Athens-born Strakosha, 27, will end his 10-year association with Lazio this summer having joined the Italian side's academy at the age of 17.

The 27-year-old has 19 caps for Albania and played in their 5-0 defeat to England last year

Following a loan spell with Salernitana in Serie B, the goalkeeper made his first team breakthrough in Rome in 2016 and he made a total of 208 appearances for the club.

Strakosha started last season as number two behind Pepe Reina, but played every Serie A game from December 5 onwards and kept seven clean sheets in 23 matches as Lazio finished fifth.

At international level, the 6ft 4in stopper has earned 19 caps for Albania and played in the 5-0 defeat to England at Wembley last year.

Nottingham Forest identify Liverpool ace as possible Djed Spence replacement

Forest could do with a right-back being added to the squad ahead of the start of the season

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Liverpool ace Neco Williams.

The Reds are still hopeful of signing Djed Spence on a permanent deal after his impressive loan season with Forest last term, but Steve Cooper's recruitment staff are covering all bases by identifying possible alternatives.

One such possible option is Williams, 21, who spent last season on-loan with Championship title winners Fulham.

Striking a deal for Middlesbrough's Djed Spence appears to be moving slightly further away after reports today (June 10) claimed Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a £20m fee for the wing-back; Forest fans remain hopeful of securing the talented England international's services, however, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano contradicting the earlier claim by saying Spurs have a strong interest but have yet to complete a deal.

According to 90min, though, Cooper's recruitment staff have identified Williams as an alternative option to pursue in case they fail to sign Spence. The 21-year-old right-back is contracted to Liverpool until 2025 but spent the second half of last season on-loan with Fulham as they claimed the Championship title.

Williams, who partners Brennan Johnson in the Wales national squad, spoke earlier in the year about his intentions to return to Liverpool in the summer for pre-season as well as a willingness to head out on loan again in pursuit of regular playing opportunities.

"Right now, I just want to play football week in and week out," Williams said. "I want to play as much as possible and gain as much experience as possible, and so far it has definitely helped me. I've improved as a player and getting promoted is a nice one to put on the CV. It's been a great loan, but I'll be going back to Liverpool in the summer, feeling like a more mature player and definitely an improved player.

"I've won the Prem and hopefully I can go on to win the Championship now. I have gained a lot of experience in a short amount of time. I've gone from starting a Champions League game against AC Milan and beating them 2-1 to playing Barnsley. So I have gained quite a lot of valuable and varied experience at such a young age.

"I want to be a Premier League player. For me, I think it's the best and the toughest league in the world. And you always want to be playing against the best players in the world, you always want to play in the best league in the world. For me, that's the Premier League and that's what I want to do with my career just to play as many games as possible in the Premier League."

Nottingham Forest have also identified Manchester City youngster Issa Kabore as a possible alternative to Spence.
