Preston North End closing in on signing of Cyrus Christie after Fulham exit

Right-back Cyrus Christie is 'closing in' on a move to Preston North End following his Fulham departure, according to Alan Nixon's Patreon.

Ryan Lowe's side appear to be close to striking a deal to sign the Republic of Ireland international on a free transfer.

Christie was released by Fulham last month after a three-and-a-half year stay in West London.

The 29-year-old made 68 appearances overall and played his part in two Championship promotions.

Last season, Christie struggled for game time under Marco Silva and departed on loan to Swansea City in January. In South Wales, he played some excellent football and made seven goal contributions in 23 appearances.

Swans manager Russell Martin has admitted that he'd love to have Christie back for the forthcoming season.

He has had a whole host of clubs chasing his signature too over the last few weeks according to Sky Sports (Transfer Centre live, 14.05.22, 12:30) but he now seems destined for Deepdale.

In the market for a right-back

Preston appear to be in the market for someone to play on the right-hand side in Lowe's team after the departures of Tom Barkhuizen and Joe Rafferty.

Christie seems a sensible option to fill the void on the right-side after having done well whilst playing there at Swansea City last season. There is a lot of similarities in Martin's and Lowe's systems and he thrived in the attacking wing-back role he played with the Swans.

The Lilywhites have also been linked with young duo Marlon Fossey and Ryan Alebiosu who both play the same roles.

Overall, Christie would be an excellent coup for the Lilywhites and would help their ambitions of being challenging in the top end of the Championship next season.

Fulham want move for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Marco Silva's Fulham side are looking to land Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Fulham were runaway Championship winners last season and they gained an instant return to the Premier League on the back of that.

In order to arrest their yo-yo affair with English football's top-flight, the Cottagers will need to rebuild.

To that end, it appears that they are looking to bring Leno – who has dropped behind Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal – to Craven Cottage.

Fulham making moves for Leno

The Athletic's Ornstein confirms that Silva's Fulham "are in talks" to take Leno across London to SW6.

The 30-year-old stopper has been with Arsenal since arriving at the Londoners from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2018.

However, their decision to snap up Aaron Ramsdale has seen the German drop out of Mikel Arteta's reckoning as the Gunners' no.1.

Leno, a nine-cap Germanu international, only made four Premier League appearances last term.

After opening the campaign with three straight losses – and conceding nine goals – Leno was benched and Ramsdale took over.

A Leno move makes sense for Marco Silva's Fulham

It is great news for Fulham fans that Leno and their club are in talks over a transfer.

Experience and a cool hand is what goalkeepers need uppermost in their armoury and he has both of those.

233 games in the Bundesliga and 101 appearances in the Premier League is enough experience make that argument convincing.

Fulham will need dependability next year in a competition that they know well. He has that dependability in abundance and has shown it with 101 clean sheets in his career to date.

He is a proven stopper and that is one position that will be tested as the Cottagers face off against English football's elite.

Report: Fulham in talks over Leno switch

According to reports from James and David Ornstein via The Athletic, Fulham are in talks with Arsenal over Bernd Leno.

The German keeper joined Arsenal in 2018 from Bayer Leverkeusen, ousting Petr Cech from the number 1 position, but lost his place last season after the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.

With one year left on his contract and a World Cup in November, Leno's departure wouldn't be at all surprising, and perhaps as it's another Premier League club that's interested we might get a decent fee as opposed to what we might get if he went elsewhere in Europe.

The 30 year old has made 125 appearances in his four years at the club, the last of which was during a 1-0 win over Aston Villa towards the end of the season.

Should Arsenal let Bernd Leno go to local rivals Fulham?

It is not really much of a secret that Bernd Leno will be leaving Arsenal this summer, considering that Mikel Arteta has already signed the USA international keeper Matt Turner to replace him, and I am certain that there will be many suitors for the German international to choose from, with Hertha Berlin meing mentioned last week as a possible destination.

But the latest team to come into the reckoning, according to the Arsenal guru David Ornstein, are our local rivals Fulham, who have finally made it back into the Premier League this season.

It is great to see another London team to replace the relegated Watford, and it is only a short journey across town to get to the games.

But do you think it is a good idea to let Leno join them, when we know that all London derbies are tough fixtures whatever the League positions (Brentford anyone?). Leno will definitely improve the Cottagers and will help them to gain valuable points as they strive to stay in the top tier, and I must admit to being a little bit worried that Leno himself would be very keen to show Arsenal that they were wrong to let him go.

On the other hand, we could probably get a better transfer fee from a Premier League club, so it could work in our favour....

Preston to beat Swans to move for full back?

Preston North End are reported to be closing in on the signing of free agent Cyrus Christie this summer.

Christie spent a successful six months on loan at Swansea from Fulham and has since become a free agent but whilst Russell Martin wants him to return, it is suggested that the club and player are far apart in terms of salary.

He has been linked with moves abroad and that's where it looked like he could be heading but Ryan Lowe's team seem to have gained the advantage according to the Sun's Alan Nixon.

A few weeks ago Christie spoke of his hopes to still return to Swansea but admitted that the club doesn't "have much of a budge."

It would be a blow to Swans boss Martin who is known to be in the market for further defensive additions along with a midfielder and attacker.

Solomon set for Fulham switch

Fulham are closing to completing a deal to bring Israeli international Manor Solomon to Craven Cottage after achieving a breakthrough in negotiations with the player's representatives, according to the Athletic this afternoon.

The Premier League newcomers had agreed a £7m with Shakhtar Donetsk for the skilful winger, who was keen to test himself in England and play for Marco Silva. But protracted discussions with Solomon's representatives had not delivered an agreement until late last week and Solomon, who had been the subject of offers from Torino and Club Bruges, is poised to put an end to the saga by signing a long-term deal with Fulham next week.

Long considered one of Israeli football's brightest prospects, Solomon was airlifted out of the Ukraine following the Russian invasion and was thus available at a vastly-reduced price having starred for Shakhtar, scoring four goals in sixteen league fixtures before the outbreak of war. He helped Shakhtar win the double in his first season and became the youngest Israeli ever to score in the Champions' League. He grabbed an excellent equaliser against Manchester City in 2019 before scoring twice against Real Madrid a year later.

Fulham close in on Thomas Strakosha capture

Fulham are reportedly edging closer to the signing of Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who will be a free agent this summer.

According to 90 Min, Fulham are closing in on the capture of Lazio and Albania goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, with his contract with the Italian giants set to expire on June 30.

Strakosha joined Lazio from Greek outfit Panionios back in 2012 but had to wait for four years to make his Serie A debut for the Biancocelesti. Having broken into the first-team setup in 2016, the 27-year-old has been a permanent fixture since, racking up 208 appearances for the Italians, in which he has kept 62 clean sheets.

Strakosha did not feature for a majority of the first half of the 2021/22 season and finished the campaign with just 23 Serie A appearances. With his contract expiring at the end of this month, the Albanian international is set to move on as a free agent. Lazio have already identified Kepa Arrizabalaga as a potential replacement.

As for Strakosha, the 27-year-old could be on his way to the Premier League, with Fulham emerging as the goalkeeper's next destination. The Cottagers are preparing for life back in the Premier League after winning promotion in style by lifting the EFL Championship last season.

Manager Marco Silva has identified several positions in the squad that need to be strengthened, with the goalkeeping slot one among them. The west London side alternated between Paulo Gazzaniga and Marek Rodak in the last season but are seeking an upgrade in the position as they get set for a return to the big leagues.

A move for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has been mooted, while there have also been links with PSG's Alphonse Areola. However, the former could be expensive , while the latter is likely to join West Ham United permanently, making Strakosha a much more realistic option for Fulham.

The 27-year-old comes with bags of experience at the highest level and has his best years in front of him. Moreover, he would be joining on a free transfer, allowing Fulham to use their funds to strengthen other areas of the squad in the summer. The Cottagers are understood to be close to finalising a deal to land Strakosha and the move could be completed imminently.

Bernd Leno: Fulham open negotiations to sign Arsenal goalkeeper this summer

Bernd Leno is among the options Fulham are considering as they look to build a squad fit for next season's top-flight campaign; The 30-year-old has one year left to run on his Arsenal deal; Leno would be Fulham's first signing of the summer

Bernd Leno looks set to leave Arsenal this summer

Newly promoted Premier League side Fulham are in talks with Arsenal over the signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno, Sky Sports News understands.

The German international has 12 months left to run on his contract, but has been on the periphery since the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale at Emirates Stadium in August 2021.

Leno arrived in north London from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018, firmly establishing himself as Arsenal's No 1 before being usurped by Ramsdale last season.

The 30-year-old made a total of eight appearances across 2021/22, with only four of those in Premier League competition. He also featured four times in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

USA international stopper Matt Turner will officially join Arsenal from New England Revolution on July 1 to provide competition for Ramsdale.

Nottingham Forest And Fulham Interested In Liverpool's Neco Williams

Two newly promoted side is looking to sign the young right back on a permanent deal

It's been no secret that Neco Williams would likely be on the move this summer. The right back has been stuck behind generational talent Trent Alexander-Arnold, finding minutes with Liverpool hard to come by.

In an attempt to get regular playing time and stay sharp for Wales as they worked toward qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, Williams and Liverpool agreed on a loan deal with Fulham for the second half of this past season. The young right back immediately stepped into a starting role for the Cottagers, playing almost 1,200 minutes in the Championship, scoring two goals and assisting two others. He became a key player in helping Fulham earn the title and automatic promotion back into the Premier League.

After the successful loan deal, as well as helping Wales qualify for the World Cup lest week, and Liverpool looking to raise funds for their own transfer kitty, it now seems to be a matter of where Neco Williams will go this summer, not if. According to the Liverpool Echo, Julian Ward has put a price of £15 million for the 21 year old right back, and the Reds are already moving on as they close in on the signing of young Scottish right back Calvin Ramsey.

There already appear to be two suitors a lining up to bring Neco Williams in on a permanent deal. Fulham, unsurprisingly, would very much like to bring Williams back with manager Marco Silva reportedly a big fan of the right back. The move would suit both parties as they are already familiar with one another, so there would be be a built in comfort level. It would also give Williams a steady diet of minutes for him to stay sharp ahead of the World Cup.

Another newly promoted team, Nottingham Forest, is now said to be turning their attentions to the Welshman. Forest were initially looking to sign Middlesbrough's Djed Spence, who had been on loan with them this past season. Spurs, however, seem to beaten them out for the England U-21 international, leaving Steve Cooper's side looking for their next option. Cooper, who led the LFC Academy a decade ago, is said to have identified Neco Williams as the next man on his list.

Having multiple suitors is good news for both Liverpool and Neco Williams. The Reds seem likely go get a solid fee, while Williams will potentially have the option to choose which team is the best fit for him.

Fulham set sights on Zaidu Sanusi

Fulham are looking to sign Zaidu Sanusi from FC Porto and are ready to make an offer, although the asking price for the midfielder may complicate matters.

According to Jornal de Noticias, via Sport Witness, Fulham are ready to make an offer for Zaidu Sangui as they look to sign the Nigerian international from FC Porto. However, Marco Silva's chase of the left-back may get complicated with the release clause in the player's contract, which could prompt Porto to command a significant fee.

Marco Silva is eyeing players to restart Fulham's journey in the Premier League in the upcoming season. The key objective for the club would be to avoid relegation, and if they can achieve that, the manager could then look to build a squad for the next campaign. However, in the present, the London side need to have a strong window to ensure that they stand a chance of survival.

Fulham are scouring the market for several players, including several Premier League-proven stars like Arsenal's Bernd Leno. Silva is keen on a midfielder and a choice of defenders, including a left-back. They are now linked with Porto full-back Zaidu Sanusi, whose price tag could complicate a possible deal.

Sanusi was a key player for the Porto in the 2021/22 season, making over 40 appearances and putting in an impressive shift. So naturally, there is interest from abroad, and Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on the left-back. Fulham have already made efforts to understand what the Portuguese side might want.

The report states that the Cottagers are prepared to offer €12 million for Sanusi, which Porto might reject as they will point towards Sanusi's €50 million release clause. However, there is a chance that the Portuguese giants might agree to a lower price. But, they would still want his value paid and will not entertain the €12 million offer that Fulham are intending to make.

If Fulham's interest is serious, they might look to submit an increased offer as they look to strengthen the roster in the left-back position. Manager Marco Silva has shown an inclination toward targeting players from the Portuguese league, with links to Al Musrati and Joao Palhinha, and Sanusi has also joined the list now.

Fulham could now negotiate to reach a middle ground with Porto for the signing of Sanusi as their planned bid of €12 million is unlikely to get them anywhere. The 24-year-old Nigerian could be a smart acquisition who would improve the Cottagers. However, how much the club might have to pay remains the question.

Fulham have turned to Bernd Leno after talks for Thomas Strakosha stalled

Fulham have revived their deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon.

The £5.9million transfer, initially agreed in April, looked to have collapsed last month but is now back on course and the 22-year-old Israeli is hopeful of signing this week.

Solomon was forced to flee from his home in Kyiv amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine and made a harrowing 25-hour journey across the border to safety in neighbouring Poland.

Fulham have revived their £5.9million deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon (left)

Like many Shakhtar players he has been allowed to leave with football in the country suspended indefinitely, and his representatives Shlomy Ben Ezra and Pini Zahavi have been quick to find him a new home with Fulham.

Solomon, the youngest Israeli player to score in the Champions League, has 28 caps for his country and can play on the left wing or behind the striker.

He will fill the gap to be left by Fabio Carvalho's departure from Fulham after the youngster joined Liverpool last month.

Fulham, meanwhile, have turned to Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno after talks for Lazio's Thomas Strakosha stalled.

The Cottagers could lose Cyrus Christie as the defender is in talks with Preston North End.
