Alfie Mawson retires from football

I saw him playing for Wycombe at Forest Green at the back end of last year and sadly he didn't look great then, so not massively surprised. It's a shame when any player has to retire so early and I just hope he can get pain free and enjoy the rest of his life.

Wish him all the best and not his fault he came to us with a pre-existing injury that we gambled on. I remember seeing him in one game where he was a passenger and realising this, he was resorting to pushing and fouling the opposition rather than positioning and intercepting. As a performance, he was embarrassing and I think we all hoped he would improve with fitness and match practice. Just didn't happen for him.
