Fulham keen on signing Scally
Fulham are among a number of clubs keen on signing the Borussia Mönchengladbach right back Joe Scally this summer, according to reports from the United States this afternoon.

The American international, who has won four senior caps for his country, has made 58 first-team appearances at Mönchengladbach since moving to Germany from New York City FC at the end of the 2020 MLS season. The 20 year-old has made 25 first-team appearances this term, scoring a single goal, and was named in Gregg Berhalter's World Cup squad but did not play as the States reached the second round in Qatar.

Fulham are known to be looking for reinforcements at right back this summer to compete with established first-choice Kenny Tete. Marco Silva succeeded in signing experienced Portuguese full back Cedric Soares on loan from Arsenal, but it remains to be seen whether the Euro 2016 winner will move to Craven Cottage on a permanent basis. The Whites have a long history of offering Premier League football to American talent and have current USA internationals Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream as stalwarts in their first-team at present.

Fulham U18s secure fifth straight win by beating WBA
Fulham's under 18s recorded their fifth consecutive league win as goals from Delano McCoy-Splatt, Aaron Loupalo-Bi and Tom Olyott saw the young Whites ease past West Bromwich Albion 3-0 at Motspur Park this afternoon.

Ali Melloul's men made a confident start with Lemar Gordon, fresh from signing his first professional contract, tried his luck from distance and succeeding in testing Albion goalkeeper Ronnie Hillingshead. The Baggies looked dangerous themselves with a terrific individual run from Sami Oluwatobi winning a dangerous free-kick but the set piece was drilled over by Eseosa Sule.

It was one of Fulham's newest international stars who gave the hosts the lead on the half hour. McCoy-Splatt, back in under-18 action after making his international debut for Jamaica, won the ball in an advanced position and darted dangerously inside before finishing fabulously into the far corner. Brad de Jesus might have doubled the lead shortly afterwards had he had the confidence to go for goal himself after a strong run rather than look for a team-mate.

The home side had a fortunate escape before the break after Michael Allen brought down Sule after the Baggies forward had been played through by a fine ball from Oluwatobi. The Fulham goalkeeper made amends by saving Sule's spot-kick after diving to his left – and the young Whites took a slender lead in with them at half time.

Allen saved smartly again at the start of the second half, repelling another Sule shot after the forward had worked some space in behind the Fulham defence. The Baggies looked determined to get back into the contest and fashioned another fine chance through a superb ball from Alex Williams that released Adriel Walker, who hammered his shot disappointingly over the top.

Fulham made Albion pay at the other end as the in-form Loupalo-Bi lashed in his thirteenth goal in seventeen league appearances with a low effort into the far corner of the net. The Whites suddenly looked rampant with substitute Callum Osmand drawing a smart save from Hillingshead before the wily Terrell Works fired just wide. Olyott rounded off the scoring in the third minute of stoppage time curling a lovely left-footed strike home after brilliant wing play from Works.

This comprehensive victory, which lifted the Whites into second place in the U18 Premier League South, was the perfect preparation for Fulham's participation in the Dallas Cup in Texas next week.

Fulham linked with Lozano
Fulham are one of a number of English clubs linked with a move for Mexican winger Hirving Lozano, who appears destined to leave Napoli this summer.

The 27 year-old, who has won 64 senior caps for his country, is set to leave Napoli on a high with Luciano Spalletti's side nineteen points clear at the top of the Serie A table and closing in on their first Scudetto since 1990. Journalist Ciro Venerato told Italian radio that Lozano is looking for a new club as Napoli are seeking to impose a tighter salary cap this summer and Lozano believes he is worth his estimated £76,000-a-week salary.

To that end, the former PSV winger has hired an English agency to drum up interest from Premier League clubs. Chelsea, Everton, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Fulham are named as clubs who are monitoring Lozano's availability but they would face competition from the likes of Sevilla and Villarreal in Spain as well as other sides across Europe.

The major stumbling block may not be the wage package but Napoli's valuation of Lozano as Gli Azzurri are believed to have slapped a £40m price tag on the man who has scored three goals and added three assists in 25 Serie A appearances this season. With only a year left on his current contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, it is unlikely they will achieve that sort of sale – but Lozano certainly won't cheap.

Exeter 3-1 Barnsley: Jay Stansfield stars as hosts end promotion hopefuls' 12-game unbeaten run

Match report and highlights as Exeter beat Barnsley 3-1 in League One; Jay Stansfield scored one goal and set up another for Harry Kite, while Sam Nombe sealed the win; Bobby Thomas briefly levelled for Barnsley, who are fourth but six points off automatic promotion, while Exeter lie 11th

Exeter made it four home wins in a row and ended Barnsley's 12-match unbeaten run with a superb 3-1 victory in League One at St James Park.

Barnsley dominated the early exchanges but Exeter went in front in the 26th minute when the outstanding Jay Stansfield picked the ball up on the byline, nutmegged Jordan Williams and cut across the penalty box before curling a brilliant finish beyond Harvey Isted.

However, Exeter's lead lasted just 11 minutes as a Luca Connell free-kick drifted across the penalty box and was turned in by Bobby Thomas from six yards.

Exeter restored their lead on 50 minutes and it was after more excellent work by Stansfield, who collected the ball wide on the left, beat his man with ease and crossed for Harry Kite to convert from six yards.

Jamal Blackman saved well to deny Slobodan Tedic, one of four changes made by Tykes boss Michael Duff midway through the second half, while Exeter's Archie Collins twice had good chances to extend the Grecians' lead.

However, Exeter completed the scoring in the 89th minute when Joe White was brought down in the box and Sam Nombe converted the penalty for his 17th goal of the season.

The result leaves Exeter 11th in League One, while Barnsley remain six points off the automatic promotion spots in fourth.

What's next?
Exeter's next game is a League One fixture away to mid-table Fleetwood on Saturday - kick-off 3pm - before they host play-off hopefuls Bolton on Friday April 7 - kick-off also 3pm.

Barnsley are next in action on Saturday when they host relegation-threatened Morecambe in League One - kick-off 3pm - before they continue their promotion push at Burton on Friday April 7 - again, kicking off at 3pm.

Ian Black
Good to read about Ian Black who was the Fulham victim in my best ever Fulham match, the 3-4 defeat by Newcastle at the Cottage.
We were leading Newcastle, thanks to a hat trick by Tosh,  when Vic Keeble the Newcasle striker charged Ian Black across the goal line jus as he had caught a high crossed ball , the ref gave a goal as in those days charging the keeper was allowed providing his feet were on the ground.
I was behind the goal at the Hammy end and was sure Ian's feet were 12 inches or so off the ground at the moment of impact.

Would always have liked to hear what Ian said about the incident.
Looking back it is possible that the ref got it right, Keeble made a habit of charging keepers, he had scored before in this manner, and he would have probably waited for Ian's feet to touch the ground before making contact.

I was at the other end, where Tosh scored his hat trick. I've never seen a ball hit so hard. I'm sure the Newcastle goalie took his hand away from the second shot after feeling the weight of the first! ( And remember it was the old waterlogged leather ball). Just for the record, the final score was 5:4 to Newcastle. Jimmy Hill scored our 4th. My memory says we came back from 3:0 down to lead 4:3 before the infamous Keeble  goal.

Thanks for the correction on the score.
It was a big match, the FA Cup being very high profile in those days and Newcastle were the holders. They were in the 1st division with some top players including the England centre forward Jackie Milburn. Always felt we were robbed by that disputed Keeble goal.
