Fulham have made 'informal contacts' to sign midfielder on a free – Wants to continue in Europe

Fulham are today linked to the signing of Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe.

That information is brought by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, who features a piece on the big race there is for the 32-year-old this summer.

The story's focus is on the player's denial to Olympique Marseille, as Uribe is not so keen on moving to a league where he knows about the dynasty being created by Paris Saint Germain.

Then O Jogo names a few other clubs who are interested in the midfielder as well, and that's where Fulham get a mention.

It's said the player, whose contract with Porto expires this summer, has been waiting for the right project, and 'informal contacts' from agents have been taking place lately.

One of those representatives wanted to take him to Fulham, and another to Atletico Madrid, and those destinations are on 'top of his preferences'.

So even though Italian, Brazilian, and Middle Eastern clubs are all in touch, it seems Marco Silva's side would have an advantage in this race.

A renewal with Porto, however, isn't ruled out yet, so the scenario is completely open right now.

Tarkowski's Pickford Praise And Fulham Vow

James Tarkowski accepts Saturday's defeat to Manchester United was a "reminder" of the standards Everton need to produce on a weekly basis if they are to continue climbing the league table - but admits he and the team are relishing getting back in action against Fulham.

The Blues fell short in Saturday's contest at Old Trafford, with a goal either side of half-time sealing a 2-0 win for the hosts.

Everton's loss ended what had been a strong run of recent form, with Sean Dyche's side having registered a four-match unbeaten streak.

Tarkowski conceded it wasn't the strongest of performances from the Blues but insisted the squad won't let the setback derail their recent upward trajectory in terms of results and performances.

"It's not always easy maintaining the standards we've shown recently because we have been pushing hard," explained Tarkowski. "Sometimes you have off days like United on Saturday but we managed to stick in the game."

Erik ten Hag's side started the contest brightly and created a number of big chances on the Everton goal.

Dogged defending, though, combined with a dazzling individual performance from Jordan Pickford helped keep the hosts at bay for much of the first period before Scott McTominay broke the deadlock eight minutes before half-time.

Tarkowski was keen to heap praise on the Everton and England No.1 who played a big part in helping the Blues ride out those moments they were under mounting pressure.

"I was hoping Jordan was going to keep us in it for the full first half so we could get in and regroup at the break," added the centre-back. "It was a shame we went a goal down late on. But we were still in it across the second half and before they scored, I felt like we had a chance to nick a goal and see where the game goes.

"The overall performance wasn't great, but sometimes with a goalkeeper like Jordan Pickford you can stick in there. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case in the end on Saturday. He is an outstanding goalkeeper, though. You saw that Saturday."

Dyche's side return to action this Saturday when they welcome Fulham to Goodison Park (kick-off 3pm BST). Tarkowski admits the Blues will embrace that fixture and see it as an opportunity to get back on track.

"Saturday was a reminder of the levels we need to be at to stay in this league," he said. "We are treating it like a blimp in what has been a nice run of form. We have a full week ahead now to work hard and get ready for the game next weekend.

"Every game is an opportunity. We don't look too far ahead. Game by game is how we have always worked, especially under this manager. We're looking forward to this weekend."

Fulham eye Uribe summer swoop
Fulham have made contact with Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe over a potential free transfer this summer, according to reports in the Portuguese press.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims that the Whites are leading the race to sign the 32 year-old, who is believed to be ready to leave the Dragons this summer, but discloses that he has rejected substantial interest from Marseille. Fulham, alongside Atletico Madrid, are apparently 'at the top of his preferences' with informal discussions having already taken place between the Cottagers and representatives of the player.

The Colombian international is thought to be keen on remaining in Europe after a successful spell with Porto, which saw the defensive midfielder win back-to-back domestic doubles, and intrigued by the prospect of playing in the Premier League. Fulham face competition from a number of other suitors including sides in Italy, Brazil and across the Middle East for a player who has long featured on their list of transfer targets.

The Club is delighted to announce the next phase of the opening of The Riverside at Craven Cottage, with general admission Season Tickets in this stand becoming available to purchase from Tuesday 18th April.

Some of the very best hospitality experiences available in world football will go on sale this summer.

Following the conclusion of Riverside sales, 2023/24 Season Ticket Renewals for all other seats within Craven Cottage will become available to purchase from 10am on Tuesday 9th May 2023.
WELCOME TO THE RIVERSIDE, A STAND APART

The continued opening of The Riverside Stand will make matchdays better than ever and is part of an exciting new era for Fulham FC and its supporters.

Providing the very best views of the pitch and comfort within Craven Cottage, fans will also enjoy a first-class concourse and access to the river walkway, which features a host of food and drink options and pre- and post-match entertainment, including opportunities to meet members of the First Team.

When migrating Season Ticket Holders out of the old stand, the Club made a promise to provide priority access to return upon completion, and to be one of the first in line to choose from the new permanent seating options available.

The new Riverside Stand is not comparative to the old stand, with a highly contemporary configuration which provides improved views, locations and padded seating. As such, the Club will not be able to allocate a specific alternative which offers a like-for-like seat, but will instead provide priority access for supporters to choose their new seat.

General admission areas of The Riverside have been split into four price categories – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze – based on location and views from within the stand.

Throughout the month of April, priority access to purchase seats will be offered to the following groups of supporters, in the below order, on a first-come-first-served basis:

    Supporters who previously held a Season Ticket in the old Riverside Stand and continued to hold an active Season Ticket with the Club for all seasons between 2019 and 2023;
    Season Ticket Holders currently sat in the new Riverside Stand for 2022/23 season;
    Current 22/23 Season Ticket Holders sat in the Johnny Haynes Stand, Hammersmith and Putney Ends;
Fans who have joined the Club's Season Ticket waiting list.

Seats will be sold initially to the above priority groups, with sales windows broken down by Platinum and Gold seats, and Silver and Bronze seats thereafter.

Details of specific priority windows will be communicated directly with supporters via email and letter.
ON SALE TIMINGS

In order to fulfil the migration process of supporters back to the Riverside Stand, as well as accommodate supporters who wish to move into the stand, 2023/24 Season Ticket sales will be split into two timelines:

The Riverside sales will begin from 10am on Tuesday 18th April
Renewals for all other seats within Craven Cottage becoming available to purchase from 10am on Tuesday 9th May.

If you do not wish to take up your priority access to purchase a seat in The Riverside, should you have an existing Season Ticket elsewhere in the stadium, this will be available to renew from Tuesday 9th May and held for you to purchase until 5pm on Monday 22nd May.

The tournament will comprise high-profile matches and pre-season training camps and will be supported by a range of events for fans and local community groups.

"No club has had a deeper connection with the United States than Fulham in the 30-year history of the Premier League, and that is very much still true today," said Fulham Chairman Shahid Khan. "Everyone at Fulham is embracing this amazing opportunity to play on the East Coast in front of our US-based fans, many of whom fell in love with Fulham supporting the many US national team players who brought 'Fulhamerica' to the world. This will also be a tremendous overall experience for our players and staff, as well as an important tune-up for the season ahead. Come on Fulham!"

The Premier League Summer Series is part of the League's ongoing commitment to its US-based fans. In addition to the tournament, the League will work closely with a range of grassroots and community organisations in each host city to create a programme of community and youth soccer initiatives.

The tournament builds on the success of the eight Premier League Mornings Live fan festival events the Premier League and its broadcast partner NBC Sports have hosted in multiple US cities since 2018. These events have seen more than 60,000 fans attend live match screenings in iconic locations, coming together to share their passion for the competition. This is in addition to the millions of viewers who watch week in, week out on television in the USA.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: "We are delighted to be bringing six clubs to the USA in July for the first-ever Premier League Summer Series.

"Our clubs have incredible supporters in the US, who passionately follow their teams throughout the season. We have seen this dedication first-hand from the tens of thousands who have attended our Mornings Live fan events and are excited to be building on this by bringing live Premier League action to five cities this summer.

"We are currently enjoying one of the most competitive Premier League seasons of all time at both ends of the table and I am sure we will see some thrilling matches during the tournament."

The Premier League's long-standing broadcast partner NBC Sports will be the host broadcaster across the networks of NBCUniversal and Peacock for the Summer Series with the Premier League's international licensees broadcasting the event around the world in up to 188 countries.

Player has 'not been satisfactory' at Fulham this season after summer arrival – Expected to leave in summer

French outlet Le10 Sport today features a story where they question Paris Saint Germain's transfer policy, claiming their strategy has led the club to have many flops in the past few years.

It turns out that even Fulham get a mention in that piece, since the Craven Cottage side currently have Layvin Kurzawa in their squad.

The report recalls that the fullback had been a 'sensation' at Monaco, and despite showing signs of a 'great promise' at PSG, he's now 'become undesirable' at the club.

A reason for that is that Kurzawa hasn't been able to impress at Fulham either, as Le10 Sport writes that the 30-year-old 'has not been satisfactory' at the Whites this season and 'should return' to France this summer.

PSG spent €25m to sign him from Monaco in 2015, and right now, the player is valued by Transfermarkt at €4m.

The fullback joined Fulham on loan last summer, but has only managed to make six appearances for the Whites since then.

His injuries have been a major problem during his spell, and that's why it's hard to even think about the possibility of a permanent move.

Report: Fulham eyeing free transfer move for another midfielder from the Portuguese league

According to O Jogo, Fulham are eyeing up a free transfer move for Porto's Mateus Uribe.

The 32-year-old Porto midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and Fulham could swoop to bring him to Craven Cottage on a free.

It wouldn't' be surprising at all to see this move go ahead. After all, the Whites have had a keen eye on Portugal for quite some time.

Indeed, after the arrival of Joao Palhinha last summer, Fulham have been fishing in this pond rather frequently with links to the likes of Alex Grimaldo, Braga's Al Musrati and now Uribe all emerging.

After posting another set of damaging financial accounts, Fulham will still be looking over their shoulders when it comes to FFP, and a free agent signing could be just what the doctor ordered at Craven Cottage.

The Whites are lacking quality midfield depth at the moment. Sasa Lukic doesn't look up to scratch after arriving from Torino in January, and while Tom Cairney is a fan favourite, his fitness and pace isn't suited to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Uribe has been a Champions League regular for some time now, and he would have no problem fitting in at Fulham given the strong Portuguese-speaking contingent at the club.

At the age of 32, there may be some concerns about Uribe potentially declining, but as Willian has shown this year, there are certainly a few players out there that fit into the 'old but gold' category and Marco Silva will be hoping that Uribe can follow that same trajectory.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on as we head into the summer transfer window and Uribe's contract winds down.

Season ticket prices

Today's announcement of season ticket price rises by Fulham FC is extremely disappointing, particularly given the challenges we are all facing with our everyday costs.

The prices of adult and concession tickets in the 'horseshoe' of Putney-Johnny Haynes-Hammersmith stands have risen by 18% across the board, with many junior tickets up over 50%, albeit from a low base. This comes on top of price rises in the region of 10% on adult and concession tickets after promotion last season which means that for most of us our season ticket prices are as high as they have ever been.

The rises in the Riverside Stand are even more substantial, with the new tiered bronze-silver-gold-platinum system meaning that some seats have more than doubled in price from this season, which was always declared by the Club to be a "one-off".

To see the full impact of these new prices, here's a direct comparison of renewal prices in 2022/23 and 2023/24. New season ticket prices are higher still.

Looking at a season ticket in block H4 of the Hammersmith End, here's how the cheapest renewal price has changed in the 20 years since we first moved "Back to the Cottage", showing a steady rise up until relegation in 2013/14, a reduction during the Championship seasons and a rise again now that we are back in the Premier League.

Although a £200 rise across 20 seasons amounts to less than 2% annually, and in 2022/23 the price was essentially the same as a decade before, this is the biggest increase in season ticket prices that we have seen.

It is important to reflect that these prices come only a week after the latest company accounts filed by the Club to June 2022 showed an annual loss of £58 million and that, even today, new Companies House filings show that the Khan family has written off a further £40.5 million by issuing shares, bringing that total above £800 million. These are eye-watering sums, without which Fulham wouldn't be operating as a going concern in the Premier League, but we have to make sure that Fulham fans, both long term and new, can still afford to attend. We are a long way from financial sustainability.

To put Fulham's season ticket prices in context, here's a brief view of some other clubs' season ticket price announcements. Every club has different pricing models, constraints and indeed seat plans, but we think it is useful to compare ourselves at least to Brighton and Crystal Palace as clubs of a similar size. This table contains "behind the goal" 2023/24 cheapest renewal prices which are broadly equivalent to our Hammersmith and Putney prices and shows that while we're not out of line with these clubs, we have caught up very quickly and, of course, our match day prices are often higher.

The other big numbers released today are the Riverside ticket prices. There's no doubt that these prices will come as a shock to many, with season tickets on sale for renewals between £1,250 and £3,000. These are prices that we've never seen before at Fulham, but equally we have never had a stand of this potential quality. It has always been our hope that the revenue generated from the new Riverside Stand would serve to keep the prices in the rest of the stadium reasonable and affordable and this continues to be our view. We would also like to see a focus on improvement of the infrastructure and facilities in the Hammersmith, Putney and Johnny Haynes stands to ensure fans in these stands do not get left behind.

We have our regular meeting with Fulham FC tomorrow at which we'll discuss these prices in detail and provide the Club with any feedback we receive from you.

Thanks for your support.
