Manchester United midfielder Fred pulled aside by Fulham manager Marco Silva outside Old Trafford

Manchester United midfielder Fred was pulled aside by Fulham manager Marco Silva following their Premier League match at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag's side went a goal behind in their final Premier League fixture of the season but Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes struck to secure a 2-1 victory.

Fred, meanwhile, played just over an hour before he was replaced in the second half by Christian Eriksen.

But some United supporters believe this could be Fred's final season at Old Trafford following his exchange with Silva outside Old Trafford.

In a video uploaded to Twitter, Silva is seen speaking directly with Fred, while eyewitnesses report that the Fulham manager ignored every other United player and only got off the team coach to speak with the Brazilian midfielder.

Fred has just one year left on his contract with United, while the 30-year-old was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has warned United's hierarchy that investment is needed this summer or they risk seeing the club fall behind their Premier League rivals.

'The club knows if you want to play top four, compete for trophies in this tough league, then you have to invest, otherwise you don't have a chance because other clubs will do,' Ten Hag said after United's win over Fulham.

'We've seen it in the winter: all the clubs around us made huge investments, we didn't, but still we made it, so I'm proud of my team.

'We are in the right direction, but we are not where we have to be. There's potential in this team and in individual players. We showed during the season we made progress, that's a compliment to the players and the coaches. We worked really hard but we have to make an investment.'

Who impressed most, and who must do better? Our experts' end-of-term Premier League reports

Our fleet of Telegraph Sport football writers run the rule over the performance of every Premier League club this season

10. Fulham
By Sam Dean

Player of the year
Joao Palhinha has been superb in midfield since his £17 million move from Sporting, providing an aggression and steel that Fulham had lacked in previous top-flight seasons. Marco Silva's side have lost all three of the league matches that he has missed, which underlines his importance.

Breakthrough star
At 27, Andreas Pereira is no youngster. But this has still been his breakthrough season in the Premier League after brief glimpses of his talent at Manchester United. The playmaker has been a consistent source of creativity and class in the final third, scoring five goals and registering six assists.

Manager grade: A
Marco Silva has comfortably exceeded expectations, getting the best out of his star players and making Fulham one of the most challenging opponents to face in the league. He also played a key role in much of their transfer business. His fingerprints are all over the club's success.

Overall season grade: B+
Fulham's ambition was to avoid relegation and they did so easily. So much so that there might be a hint of disappointment that they were unable to challenge for Europe in the final weeks. Aleksandar Mitrovic's lengthy ban was costly: they lost five of the eight games he missed in the run-in.

Champagne moment
The 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Craven Cottage was a special night for Fulham and their supporters. It ended a run of 20 Premier League games without a win against Chelsea and moved them up to sixth in the table. That night, anything felt possible for the club.

Ambition for next season
There will be serious interest in Palhinha and, if he leaves, Fulham will need to replace him. Silva is also catching the eye of bigger clubs. On the pitch, avoiding relegation will remain the primary goal as Fulham look to establish themselves as Premier League mainstays again.

Manchester United considering possible Fred transfer to Fulham amid midfield interest

Fred started in Man United's final game of the season at Old Trafford but is approaching the last year of his contract.

Manchester United midfielder Fred has emerged as a target for Fulham.

The Manchester Evening News understands intermediaries have proposed a possible move for Fred, 30, to Fulham as United want to recruit a younger midfielder.

Fulham manager Marco Silva was filmed speaking with Fred outside Old Trafford before the Londoners departed the stadium.

Fulham have signed a number of Portuguese speakers since they were promoted back to the top flight last year and bought Brazilian Andreas Pereira from United in July.

Fred started in the home wins against Manchester City and Barcelona, as well as in the League Cup final victory over Newcastle, and he could retain his place for the FA Cup final as United manager Erik ten Hag considers a tactical tweak against City.

Despite that prominence, Fred only lined up in two league games after his starting role in the 7-0 annihilation by Liverpool at Anfield on March 5.

The Brazil international has started 22 games this term - the fewest since his maiden season with United in 2018-19.

United are under pressure to raise funds to reinvest in incomings to fall in line with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules.

Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Brandon Williams are among those likely to be made available for transfer.

Former Fulham star in intensive care and in 'serious condition' after horse riding accident

Reports have confirmed the Paris Saint-Germain player is currently in a serious condition.

Former Fulham goalkeeper Sergio Rico is currently in intensive care in Spain after being involved in a horse riding accident. The 29-year-old was out riding in the El Rocio region of Huelva when another horse pulling a cart crossed in front of him.

Spanish radio reporter Victor Fernandez reported that Rico's own horse became nervous and threw him off, kicking him in the head during its panic. The Spaniard has suffered a brain haemorrhage as a result of the trauma and he is said to be in a serious condition.

The Paris Saint-Germain shot-stopper has been confirmed to be in an ICU unit in a Seville hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injury.

"Paris Saint-Germain learned of Sergio Rico's accident on Sunday and are in constant contact with his family," the French outfit wrote in their statement. His former and boyhood club Sevilla have also sent their support and have wished him a speedy recovery.

Sergio Rico's family provide update
Rico's family have since released their own statement, assuring supporters he is in "good hands" and he is "fighting to get better" while he receives "the best" medical care at Virgin del Rocio Hospital.

"We must act with precaution, especially in the next 48 hours," it read. "We are awaiting the results of his medical evolution which we hope will be favourable so we are able to tell you about his improvement as soon as possible."

Rico, whose career started at Sevilla, spent a year on loan with Fulham before joining PSG in 2020. His most recent career move saw him enjoy a stint with Mallorca back in his home country. During his time at Craven Cottage, Rico established himself as first choice goalkeeper under Claudio Ranieri, ahead of homegrown talent Marcus Bettinelli.

The Spaniard made 29 Premier League appearances for Fulham and three in the EFL Cup, keeping six clean sheets during the season which saw the club relegated to the Championship after a 19th-place finish.

After a loan period with PSG, the Ligue 1 giants opted to make his stay permanent and signed him on a four-year deal in 2020. However, following the arrival of superstar Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rico slipped drastically down the pecking order.

Before his loan move to Mallorca, he had been fighting for the No.1 spot with both Donnarumma and Keylor Navas. Rico has made a total of 24 appearances for PSG and has kept 14 clean sheets. He also made 15 appearances for Mallorca before returning to Parc des Princes.

Fulham interested in Fred transfer with Marco Silva spotted talking to Manchester United star

Fulham are interested in signing Fred from Manchester United this summer, talkSPORT understands.

The Brazil international is set to enter the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

And Erik ten Hag could cash in to boost his summer funds with a striker and goalkeeper among his top targets.

United and Fulham faced off in the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

And Cottagers boss Marco Silva was spotted speaking to Fred in the car park.

According to eyewitnesses, the Portuguese coach rushed off the team bus to catch Fred before he left the premises.

Silva is pushing for the signing of Fred, talkSPORT understands, and would be the latest Brazilian from a top club to make the move to Craven Cottage, including Willian and Andreas Pereira.

United could let the midfielder leave as they look to spruce up their own squad.

The 30-year-old joined the club in 2018 and has made 212 appearances.

Despite the signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, Fred has actually played more games this season than any other he has had at Old Trafford.

In total, he has appeared in 55 matches and could make one more when United take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final this weekend.

But Ten Hag could look to sell Fred this summer and look for a younger midfielder.

Mason Mount of Chelsea is the favoured choice amid his contract wrangles at Stamford Bridge.

But moves for Declan Rice, Romeo Lavia and Alexis Mac Allister have not been ruled out with all three expected to be on the move this summer.

As for Fulham, they have had a brilliant first year back in the Premier League after winning promotion the season before under Silva.

There were even hopes of finishing in a European spot but they have had to settle for 10th, a fine achievement still.

Silva has helped players such as Willian and Pereira find their best form and the hope is that he can have a similar effect on Fred.

While the former Shakhtar star has often enjoyed a fine spell in the United squad, he has come in for criticism at times.

Man Utd offer Fred to Fulham with news expected 'soon' on incoming midfielder at Old Trafford

Man Utd are weighing up the possibility of selling Fred to Premier League rivals Fulham ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Brazilian has lost his place in the starting line-up this season with he signings of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro knocking him down in the pecking order.

When all players are fit, Erik ten Hag seems to prefer a midfield three of Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes with Fred and Scott McTominay getting fewer minutes this campaign.

And the Manchester Evening News now claim that Man Utd are 'considering possible Fred transfer to Fulham' with the Cottagers an option as they look to improve their midfield.

Fulham, who lost 2-1 to Man Utd on final day, finished tenth as a newly-promoted side and 'intermediaries have proposed a possible move for Fred to Fulham as United want to recruit a younger midfielder'.

The Manchester Evening News add that Man Utd 'are under pressure to raise funds to reinvest in incomings to fall in line with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules' and Craven Cottage could be the perfect destination for Fred with a number of Portuguese speakers in their ranks.

Fred will enter the final year of his contract at Old Trafford at the end of June and Man Utd could see now as the best time to move on the 30-year-old.

The report touches on interest from Newcastle in McTominay but adds that the Red Devils have 'not provisionally planned for his sale as he is their youngest senior midfielder'.

And there have been a number of names linked as possible replacements for Fred with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot preparing to leave Turin on a free transfer.

Goal in Italy claims that it is 'no mystery' that Man Utd are interested in signing Rabiot this summer and 'recently tested the ground again' after making their interest known a year ago.

So far there have been 'exploratory contacts' between the Red Devils and his representatives and there are expectations that those talks 'could lead to something more substantial soon'.

The report in Italy insists that 'all roads lead to goodbyes at the end of the current year' at Juventus and that it will be his 'final season as an absolute protagonist' in Turin.

There is also interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich with it unclear whether Marcel Sabitzer – who is on loan at Man Utd – will stay this summer.

Fulham season review: Cottagers dismiss relegation predictions in awesome return to big time

After coming up from the Championship, Fulham enjoyed a brilliant season back in the Premier League under Marco Silva.

Tipped by many for relegation, the Cottagers were pushing for Europe for much of the campaign and comfortably secured a top-half finish.

Here, Standard Sport assesses the 2022-23 season at Craven Cottage...

Season in one word: Surprising.

Star of the show: Joao Palhinha. Arguably the signing of the season behind Erling Haaland. A colossus in midfield and understandably attracting interest from the big boys.

Biggest letdown: Aleksandar Mitrovic. His 14 League goals helped Fulham thrive back in the top flight, but his behaviour towards referee Chris Kavanagh was inexcusable.

Most improved player: Antonee Robinson. The dynamic left-back has enjoyed a great season, offering a real threat down the flank and a wonderful delivery.

Game to remember: Their 2-1 win over Chelsea at Craven Cottage in January has helped Fulham finish above their rivals for the first time since 1983.

Game to forget: The 3-1 FA Cup defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford was a bad day. Three red cards, including for boss Marco Silva, and an eight-match ban for Mitrovic.

Rising star: Manor Solomon. It remains to be seen whether he will sign a permanent deal, but the loanee scored a string of vital goals midway through the season.

Manager verdict: A couple of touchline bans show he must rein in his emotion, but Silva has got a tune out of every player and done a brilliant job.

Fans' mood: Dreamland. This season has been better than they could ever have expected. Fulham fans have a manager and team to be proud of.

Grade: A

Man of the Match Result: Man Utd

Kenny Tete has convincingly been voted your Man of the Match for his performance against Manchester United on the final day of the season.

The right-back scored his first Premier League goal, in none other than Old Trafford itself of all places to do it, as quoted by Gentleman Jim.

Kenny has consistently been impressive across the season and Sunday's game was yet another marker in a statement campaign for the Dutchman.

As previously mentioned, it was certainly a convincing win for Kenny, who received a whopping 71% of the vote, followed behind by Bernd Leno with 8.7% and Antonee Robinson with 6.4%.

Fulham eyeing a summer transfer move for Fred, Man United should demand Joao Palhinha in return

Fulham are showing interest in signing Manchester United midfielder Fred this summer.

The Manchester Evening News have revealed that intermediaries have proposed a possible move for Fred, who is approaching the final year of his contract at United.

After the match, Fulham boss Marco Silva was spotted speaking with the Brazil international in the car park.

Man United should do a straight swap between Fred and Palhinha
The Red Devils triggered a one-year extension in Fred's contract last year. This allows the Brazilian to leave Old Trafford as a free agent in June 2024.

United must get smart with their transfer business. They should cash in on fringe players and use those funds to improve their squad.

Fred is best known for bringing energy to the pitch by covering every blade of grass. However, his ability with the ball is very limited.

Erik ten Hag has utilised Fred in games he expects United to do plenty of off-the-ball work.

He started in the home wins against Manchester City and Barcelona – two teams who dominate ball possession.

United should use Fulham's interest and propose a straight swap between Fred and Joao Palhinha.

The Portugal international is a powerful defensive midfielder and would be a fantastic acquisition for Man United.

Palhinha has recorded the most tackles made by any player (147) in the Premier League this season. Moises Caicedo stands next to him with 100 tackles.

He moved to Fulham last summer for an initial fee of around £17 million, but a spectacular debut season in England has more than doubled his value to £40m.

The transfer deal will be beneficial for United even if they have to pay £10-20m on top of Fred.

Fulham may move for midfielder who Manchester United could be willing to sell

Fulham are a potential landing spot for Fred this summer with the Brazilian set to enter the last year of his Manchester United contract.

Fred's links to Fulham have been reported by the Manchester Evening News, who say that the Brazilian midfield could be moved on this summer as they look to lower the average age of their engine room.

Having triggered the one-year extension of his contract back in December (per Transfermarkt), the 30-year old is unlikely to prolong his stay at Old Trafford beyond 2024 which could mean a transfer is on the cards this summer.

The Red Devils beat Fulham 2-1 yesterday to finish 3rd in the Premier League this season and after the match, Fred was spotted in conversation with Cottagers boss Marco Silva outside the stadium yesterday, prompting football fans to come to the opinion that the Brazilian international is likely going to become a Fulham player.

Despite failing to qualify for Europe, Fulham have shown this season that they have plenty of potential to challenge the big boys in 2023/24 in a similar fashion to how they did this year, and the addition of an experienced player like Fred will no doubt elevate them further.

Man United midfielder Fred attracting interest from Fulham... with the Brazilian - who could be one of 13 players leaving the club this summer - spotted chatting to Marco Silva outside Old Trafford

Manchester United are considering allowing midfielder Fred to join Fulham
United may let Fred leave as they are looking to bring in a younger midfielder
Fulham boss Marco Silva was seen talking to Fred outside Old Trafford

Manchester United midfielder Fred is attracting interest from Fulham.

The Brazilian is among 13 players earmarked for departure from Old Trafford this summer and was spotted chatting to Marco Silva post-match on Sunday. However, he has other offers too.

Silva waited to speak to Fred following Fulham's 2-1 defeat to United on the final day of the Premier League season.

Intermediaries have proposed a possible move for Fred, 30, to Fulham as United are looking to sign a younger midfielder.

Fred has made 55 appearances for United this season but the last time he completed the full 90 minutes in the league was against Leeds in February.

Fulham have three Brazilian players in their squad in Willian, Carlos Vinicius and former United midfielder Andreas Pereira.

United have joined the race for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, who could cost around £100m. Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in Rice.

There are likely to be further departures from United this summer, with Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams and Alex Telles amongst those who could leave.

Donny van de Beek and Anthony Elanga could also depart. Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are out of contract and goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who has been on loan at Nottingham Forest, may depart permanently. There haven't been any discussions about keeping Wout Weghorst once his loan from Burnley comes to an end and the same applies to Marcel Sabitzer, who is on loan from Bayern Munich.

Fred signed for United from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 and won the Carabao Cup  this season. He will be hoping for further glory against rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Scott McTominay has been linked with Newcastle but United aren't planning to sell him as things stand.

Premier League 2022-23: Who were on an upward curve and who were sleepwalking?

Fulham - 10th
It's been an outstanding season under Marco Silva after many - including myself - expected relegation.

Fulham started as they meant to go on when they gave Liverpool all sorts of trouble on the opening day of the season, and they maintained high standards playing very good football under Silva, who has done a superb job at Craven Cottage.

Willian was a revelation given evidence suggested he was washed up after Arsenal, while Joao Palhinha was top class in midfield. Aleksandar Mitrovic showed his Premier League pedigree with goals although his eight-match ban for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh was damaging.

McNulty's pre-season prediction: 19th

What McNulty said in August: "It's still hard to see anything other than a fight for survival."

Fulham want to sign £52m midfielder this summer, he's a big fan of Andreas Pereira

Fulham are now considering a move for Manchester United midfielder Fred as the transfer window approaches.

A report from Manchester Evening News shares more details on the 30-year-old's future.

Fulham's return to the Premier League has been an unmitigated success this season.

Many would have expected them to make an immediate return to the Championship after their previous top-flight campaigns.

However, Marco Silva has done a phenomenal job with Fulham comfortably finishing in the top half of the league.

It's also seen him linked with the Tottenham job in recent day.

Silva has done this by building a core of Portuguese-speaking players in West London.

The likes of Joao Palhinha, Willian and Andreas Pereira have been instrumental in their success this season.

Now, Silva is keen to bring another Brazilian to Fulham in the form of Manchester United midfielder Fred.

The £52m midfielder only has one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford.

He could join his compatriots this summer as they look to build on a positive season.

Fulham want Man United midfielder Fred
The report from MEN shares that, 'intermediaries have proposed a possible move for Fred, 30, to Fulham as United want to recruit a younger midfielder.'

TalkSPORT have also added that Marco Silva is pushing for Fulham to sign the 30-year-old.

A move to Fulham would give him the chance to be reunited with Pereira, who has already showered with praise this season.

"I think he's doing really well at Fulham, he's a great player," Fred said about Pereira.

"Everyone knows how good he is. We played together here for some time, he was at Flamengo in Brazil where he did well, I was following him there."

"Now he's back here with Fulham and having a great season in the Premier League, [he's a] great player, we know his quality."

It would be a coup for Fulham to sign Fred from Man United this summer and show how far they've come in the last 12 months.

He had a brilliant game against Marco Silva's side yesterday as Erik ten Hag's side ran out 2-1 winners.

Fred hasn't been first choice this season and if the club plan to strengthen further he could drop down the pecking order.

Fulham signed Sasa Lukic in January and Harrison Reed and Palhinha have proved to be a fantastic pairing in midfield.

The Brazilian would offer some important competition and cover in that area.

With Palhinha also linked with moves away from Fulham, he may end up being an important replacement even if a move would appear to be unlikely.

Tottenham Ready to Hijack Premier League Side's Deal for Free Transfer of £20K P/W 'Underrated Baller'

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a possible move to sign Fulham winger Manor Solomon in the summer transfer window, as per The Athletic's Jack Pitt-Brooke. The Israel international had joined the Cottagers last summer on a loan move from Shakhtar Donetsk after failing to secure a permanent transfer due to FIFA rules.

Tottenham Hotspur Plotting Manor Solomon Signing
How Spurs Can Sign Solomon on Free Transfer
Even though the Lilywhites are still in search of a new manager to take the helm at the club next season and replace the departed Antonio Conte, they appear to be continuing with their pursuit of some of their targets regardless.

Pitt-Brooke adds that Spurs will be able to sign Solomon on a free transfer in the summer after FIFA confirmed that he can leave his parent club Shakhtar in the summer by cancelling their contract. It is also explained that Fulham are keen on the possibility of signing Solomon on a permanent basis after his loan spell there.

However, Tottenham are reported to be at the front of the queue to sign the 23-year-old if he decides to leave Craven Cottage and are ready to hijack any move for him. With that being said,  no decision has been yet about his future with Solomon expected to field other offers too.

Could Solomon Be a Good Fit for Spurs?
The 23-year-old winger has had a topsy-turvy campaign with Fulham and spent a large chunk of the first half of the campaign dealing with a knee injury, which kept him out until after the World Cup break. However, Solomon is a very talented winger who has shown his ability to produce something remarkable every now and then.

He scored in four consecutive Premier League games in the February-March period, which included some amazing long-range efforts. With that being said, those are the only goals he's scored in this campaign as he only managed to start seven games across all competitions for Fulham

The 23-year-old – who has been labelled as an 'underrated baller' and is rumoured to earn £20,000-a-week wages – is an impressive dribbler and has an amazing long-range shooting ability, but is also inconsistent and still a bit raw to thrive in the Premier League. With that being said, Solomon could be a solid signing on a free transfer – his impressive goal-scoring ability, tendency to make an impact from the bench, and explosive style can help make him solid competition for Son Heung-Min.

Fulham keen on Manchester United midfielder Fred

Fulham are reportedly rumoured to chase Manchester United midfielder Fred amid growing links in the media.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Fulham could chase Manchester United midfielder Fred ahead of the new season. The Red Devils could cash in on the Brazilian, who will enter the final year of his deal. Erik ten Hag is already looking for a new midfielder and could make do with additional funds from sales.

There's a complex situation brewing at Manchester United. Erik ten hag has ambitious names on his transfer shortlist, but there are question marks over the club's budget for the next window. Part of it is due to the uncertainty of their ownership situation and how much money will become available for spending.

Part of Ten Hag's plans involve bringing in a new defender and a striker, but the Dutchman may also seek midfield reinforcements, but someone younger. The manager may feel the need to reduce his squad's average age but also maintain the experience.

That brings the subject to Fred. The €59 million Manchester United midfielder enters the final year of his deal, and no news on a possible extension. He might get sold if the right offer arrives, but the Brazilian also packs plenty of experience needed in this squad.

Fulham are reportedly rumoured to chase Fred ahead of the summer window. The suggestions began after Marco Silva and Fred were spotted outside Old Trafford, deep in conversation after the game ended. Could he move to Craven Cottage in the summer?

Possibly, considering Silva has been bringing in Portuguese-speaking players since last summer's return. Fulham could also lose Joao Palhinha to one of the bigger clubs, as he may need replacing in the team.

Bringing in an experienced star like Fred could do the trick. Silva could also promise the Brazilian game time with regularity. A sale could somewhat help Manchester United recoup some funds that may benefit them in the transfer window.

Whether the move can become a possibility remains the question, but it will depend on what Manchester United may want in return. For now, these are threading on rumours, but it has the possibility of materialising.

Well some people must have forgotten to take their medication in Manchester. First, a straight swap for Fred with Joao going in opposite direction. Why would we swap a first team regular for a bit part player and secondly they say Fred is worth 52 mill, on this seasons form no more than 10.
If they get difficult let him stay there sitting on the bench collecting his wages.

52 million is just what United originally paid for him.
