Update: Bayern Munich prepared to bid on João Palhinha, but Fulham might not sell without "mammoth bid"
Is Thomas Tuchel going to get his wish?

Update — August 30th, 8:30AM EDT: Does Bayern plan a "mammoth bid" to Fulham?
According to Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Bayern Munich is preparing a proposal to Fulham for João Palhinha, but the English club might need a whole lot of money to feel good about letting the Portuguese star go:

The names of at least a half-a-dozen defensive midfielders have been linked to Bayern Munich in recent days.

From younger prospects-types to established veterans, the Bavarians seem to be looking in every nook and cranny in hopes of finding the perfect fit.

The "Three Little Bears, just right"-solution may or may not exist (some would argue that it was Arsenal FC midfielder Declan Rice), but Bayern Munich is doing everything it can to at least give off the impression that it is attempting to appease head coach Thomas Tuchel's desire for a new No. 6.

Sources: Bayern Munich ready Joao Palhinha move after West Ham bid submitted
Bayern Munich are stepping up their pursuit of Fulham midfielder João Palhinha, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the Bundesliga champions are now ready to test Fulham's resolve to hang onto the Portuguese ace before the close of the transfer window on Friday (1 September).

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has made Palhinha his top target as he looks to add a defensive midfielder to his squad.

The 28-year-old has attracted the interest of a number of top clubs this summer following his brilliant debut season for Fulham last term.

Football Insider revealed earlier this summer (18 July) that West Ham saw a £45million bid for the midfielder rejected.

The Cottagers are reluctant to lose Palhinha, who scored the equaliser against Arsenal last week (26 August), so late in the window.

It is believed Marco Silva's side will therefore look to resist Bayern's overtures for the all-action midfielder.

Palhinha missed the first game of the new campaign with a shoulder problem but has since been restored to the lineup in the last three matches.

He played 90 minutes in Fulham's League Cup penalty shoot-out triumph over Tottenham on Tuesday (29 August) in a sign that no move is imminent.

The 28-year-old has four years left to run on his contract at Craven Cottage and the west London outfit are keen to make a healthy profit after signing him for a reported £20million in 2022.

The ex-Sporting CP star played 40 games across all competitions as Fulham secured a 10th-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

Fulham have already lost one key man in the summer window – with Aleksandar Mitrovic leaving in a mega-money move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

Jiménez wins Mexico recall
Fulham forward Raúl Jiménez has been recalled to the Mexico squad by new manager Jaime Lozano for their friendlies in America against Australia and Uzbekistan next month.

The 32 year-old, who has started all three of the Whites' Premier League fixtures this season, was left out of the squad for the Gold Cup by Diego Cocca. Jiménez, who joined Fulham from Wolves in a £5.5m deal last month, is the seventh leading goalscorer in Mexican history, having hit 30 goals in a century of senior international appearances.

Lozano's side will play the Socceroos in Dallas on September 9 before facing Uzbekistan in Atlanta three days later.

Bayern Munich set to make late move for Fulham midfielder
Bayern Munich continue to work on multiple deals ahead of the deadline day on Friday. The Bavarian club is looking to add a midfielder to the squad in the next three days. Thomas Tuchel has been keen on signing a defensive midfielder throughout the summer. It does like Bayern is going to work on a deal for a Premier League midfielder.

According to Sport1 and Bild, Bayern have identified Fulham's Joao Palhinha as the midfield reinforcement before the deadline day. The Bavarian club is expected to make a bid for the Portuguese midfielder soon. Fulham had previously rejected a bid from West Ham United worth £50 million, so Die Roten will have to come up with a sizeable offer to seal the deal.

Palhinha has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League since joining Fulham from Sporting Lisbon last summer. He is very efficient in winning duels and breaking up play at the base of the midfield. The Portuguese midfielder provides a lot of steel to the midfield, which is exactly what Tuchel wants at Die Roten.

The only concern regarding the signing of Palhinha is his age. The Portuguese midfielder will turn 29 next season. It is not a long-term signing for Bayern if a deal goes through before Friday. However, it will definitely make Die Roten a much better outfit for the next couple of seasons.

It will be intriguing to see what kind of offer Bayern presents for Palhinha. They may explore a loan with an obligation deal, but Fulham is likely to reject the offer. The Portuguese midfielder is a crucial player for Marco Silva at Fulham. After losing Alexander Mitrovic this summer to Al Hilal, Silva will be eager to keep Palhinha for next season.

Apart from Palhinha, Bayern have been linked with Manchester United's Scott McTominay in the past few days. The Scotting midfielder is out of favour at Old Trafford, so a transfer is much more realistic. Manchester United holds an interest in Bayern's Ryan Gravenberch, which may open the prospect of a loan swap deal between the two clubs.

Bayern will certainly allow Gravenberch to leave before Friday if they manage to sign a midfielder. Along with Manchester United, the Dutch midfielder is also attracting interest from Liverpool. It remains to be seen if Bayern would sanction a permanent departure.

Thomas Tuchel will get all the profiles that he wanted this summer if Bayern gets the deal for Palhinha over the line. The German coach will be under pressure to deliver silverware after a disappointing end to their cup competitions last season.

Sources: Fulham, Burnley and Sheffield United plot late-window moves for Divock Origi
Premier League trio Fulham, Burnley and Sheffield United are all interested in late moves for ex-Liverpool striker Divock Origi before Friday's (1 September) transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old is out of favour at AC Milan following a poor first season with the Serie A giants.

Milan are ready to offload Origi this summer with the forward not figuring in the long-term plans of head coach Stefano Pioli.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (16 August) that the striker is also wanted by Saudi Pro League outfit Al Fateh.

Fulham, Burnley and Sheffield United – all of whom were recently promoted to the Premier League – are keen to add attacking reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut.

Origi managed just two goals and one assist across 36 appearances in all competitions for Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan last season.

He joined the European giants after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer last summer (2022) and is under contract at San Siro until June 2026.

The Belgian established a reputation as a fan favourite during his eight years at Anfield – and most famously scored the second goal in the Reds' 2-0 win over Tottenham in the 2019 Champions League final.

He won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time in England.

In total, he racked up 41 goals and 18 assists in 175 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool.

Fulham are desperate to add new faces to their attack after losing Aleksander Mitrovic to Saudi Arabia earlier this month.

Sheffield United have lost Iliman Ndiaye to Marseille, while Burnley need more goals if they are to ensure survival this term.

Eric Dier offered to Fulham
Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has been offered to Fulham over a possible late move in the ongoing transfer window.

A report from 90min claims that 29-year-old utility man Eric Dier has been offered to Tottenham's London rivals Fulham. And it remains to be seen whether the Cottagers are prepared to take up the opportunity and sign him.

Dier can operate as a full-back, a central defender as well as a defensive midfielder. His versatility makes him an asset and a utility man for most clubs, and Fulham could certainly use someone like him.

Dier's performances were quite underwhelming for Tottenham last season, and he was heavily criticised. However, he remains a reliable performer in the Premier League and could be a key player for Fulham if he manages to regain his form and confidence.

Fulham are expected to part ways with Tosin Adarabioyo, a target for Tottenham, this summer. So they will need to bring in a quality replacement. Eric Dier will add quality and experience to the West London club's squad.

It remains to be seen whether Fulham can agree on a reasonable price with Tottenham for the defender now. The Cottagers will look to build on their impressive finish in the Premier League table last season, and they need to bring in the right reinforcements in order to do well. Someone like Dier will certainly help them improve this summer.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old might not be a regular starter for Ange Postecoglou this season. So a move away from Tottenham could be ideal for him he would get regular game time at Fulham, and it would help him regain his form and confidence.

As for Tottenham, they have already signed Ashley Phillips and Micky van de Ven this summer. It remains to be seen whether they decide to bring in another central defender before the summer transfer window closes. Meanwhile, Dier has also been offered to Bayern Munich.

Tottenham seem keen on getting rid of their unwanted players this summer. Dier is not the only Tottenham defender who has been linked with an exit. Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez could leave the club as well. Meanwhile, Djed Spence has already joined Leeds United for the remainder of the season on a loan deal.

Fulham 'willing' to match club's demands for player – No 'impediments' to move if they make bid
Fulham are 'willing' to match Sevilla's €15m demands for winger Lucas Ocampos but are yet to make a formal offer for the Argentine.

That's according to ABC Sevilla, who say the Spanish side won't put any 'impediments' in front of the move if they receive such an offer.

Ocampos has been linked with Fulham throughout this week as Marco Silva's side look to strengthen before the end of the window.

Various reports have had the potential deal at different stages, with it claimed they've struck an agreement with both the player and Sevilla.

Neither of those appear to be true, though, with it instead reported throughout Spain earlier today that Ocampos wasn't particularly keen on the switch and needed convincing.
ABC now follow that up today and say Fulham are indeed keen on Ocampos and 'intend' to give Sevilla's sports management something to do before Friday's deadline.

Ocampos has 'caught the attention' of those in charge at Craven Cottage and they would be 'willing' to make an offer for the player worth around €15m.

Sevilla initially had no intention of releasing him this summer but they're now not completely against it and if he decides to leave, they 'will not put any impediments' in his way.

While reports in England have indicated an agreement between Fulham and Ocampos is close that is not something they are confirming in Nervión.

As far as they are concerned, they're yet to receive a formal offer for the player so there is nothing to do at the moment but if Fulham make it, they're open to a deal and then reinvesting the funds.

Fulham: Palhinha is not for sale
Fulham have not received a bid from Bayern Munich for midfielder Joao Palhinha and insist that their Portuguese international is not for sale.

Bild reported this morning that Palhinha, who has just returned to Fulham's starting eleven after sustaining a shoulder injury during the Summer Series last month, was top of Thomas Tuchel's shortlist as he seeks to add a defensive midfielder to his squad before the close of the transfer window. The German sports tabloid even claimed that the Bundesliga champions had tabled an offer – something the Whites have refuted this afternoon.

Palhinha, who followed up his stunning equaliser at Arsenal on Saturday with a successful penalty in Fulham's shoot out success over Tottenham in the League Cup last night, has four years to run on his current contract at Craven Cottage. The former Sporting Lisbon man has become a cult hero with the Fulham fanbase since topping the Premier League list of tacklers in his first season in English football as Marco Silva's side finished tenth on their return to the top flight.

Fulham, who rejected two bids from West Ham for Palhinha over the summer, have no intention of selling another star player after losing Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal ten days ago.

Manchester City will be aiming to make it four wins from their opening four Premier League matches of the season when they host Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs: Report shares Tosin Adarabioyo update
The Englishman could be on the move from Fulham.

A report has shared an interesting update on Tottenham Hotspur and their possible late move for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

Who will Spurs sign?
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is expected to make late signing attempts before the deadline on Friday, with the likes of Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson and Barcelona's Ansu Fati linked most recently.

The north Londoners have enjoyed a fine start to this new Premier League season under Ange, with the Australian implementing an exciting, attack-minded brand of football.

Tottenham are yet to suffer defeat in the league, having drew away to Brentford on the opening day; soon following that up with 2-0 victories over Man United and Bournemouth.

However, a chink in Spurs' armour was perhaps exposed on Tuesday night, with Postecoglou's much-changed side crashing out of the Carabao Cup second round at the hands of Fulham.

The penalty shoot-out loss at Craven Cottage has already thwarted Tottenham's first chance of a cup run and opportunity to win their first piece of major silverware for the first time since 2008.

The Lilywhites' need to strengthen before deadline day was perhaps highlighted by that result, and as they chase moves for the likes of Fati/Johnson, it has also been claimed that they're still eyeing a new defender.

Spurs conceded a pretty terrible 63 league goals last term, more than any other side above 15th - a stat which backs the need for more defensive quality despite the bright start of Postecoglou's traditional back four.

Speaking earlier this month, reliable journalist Alasdair Gold relayed that the Tottenham boss wanted to strengthen in defence further after the signing of Micky van de Ven.

"Postecoglou said that himself in his press conference on Friday he pretty much said how there's areas in defence, midfield and attack that they can upgrade on as well," said Gold on his YouTube channel (via TBR).

"I would keep an eye on what happens. I kind of get the feeling that Spurs have got a number of deals lined up ready to go if they can get the players out of the squad first."

Adarabioyo, who is also attracting serious interest from Ligue 1 side Monaco, is apparently still a target for Tottenham after repeated links for much of the summer transfer window.

That is according to 90min, who say they remain interested in striking a late move for the ex-Man City and Blackburn defender. Adarabioyo apparently finds the option of joining Spurs "appealing", but Everton have also held talks over a move.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have offered Eric Dier to go the other way to Fulham, but the 29-year-old may not end up going before the deadline.

How good is Tosin Adarabioyo?
Adarabioyo has played just a single league minute for the Whites this season, but he did stand out as one of Fulham's best performers by average match rating last season, according to WhoScored.

He also made more clearances per 90 than any other member of their squad, with the colossal 6 foot 5 defender being called "magnificent" by members of the media for some of his Craven Cottage displays.

Bayern Target Fulham's Star Player Before Deadline Day
The Bavarian Strategy: Why Palhinha is Bayern's Top Priority

As the transfer window inches towards its closure on 1st September, Bayern Munich is making calculated moves to secure Fulham's midfield dynamo, João Palhinha. Thomas Tuchel, the Bayern manager, has identified the Portuguese midfielder as the missing piece in his tactical jigsaw, particularly in the defensive midfield role.

Fulham's Stance: A Tough Nut to Crack
Fulham, on the other hand, are not keen on parting ways with their prized asset, especially given his recent form. Palhinha, who netted the equaliser against Arsenal on 26th August, has been instrumental for Marco Silva's side. The reluctance is understandable; losing a player of Palhinha's calibre so late in the transfer window could be a significant blow.

The West Ham Saga: A Rejected Bid Sets the Stage
Earlier in the summer, West Ham United had tabled a £45 million offer for Palhinha, which Fulham promptly declined. This rejection has only intensified the interest from other top-flight clubs, with Bayern Munich now leading the charge.

The Player's Form: A Season to Remember
The 28-year-old Portuguese international had a standout debut season with Fulham. His performances have not only caught the eye of Bayern Munich but also several other top clubs. Despite missing the first game due to a shoulder injury, Palhinha has been in scintillating form, recently playing a full 90 minutes in Fulham's League Cup win over Tottenham.

Contractual Matters: Four More Years at Craven Cottage?
Palhinha has four years remaining on his contract with Fulham, who are keen to turn a handsome profit on their £20 million investment made in 2022. The midfielder, formerly of Sporting CP, was a key figure in Fulham's 10th-place Premier League finish last season.

The Bigger Picture: Fulham's Summer Exodus
It's worth noting that Fulham have already lost a key player this summer, with Aleksandar Mitrovic making a high-profile move to Saudi Pro League's Al-Hilal. The question remains: will Fulham hold their ground, or will Bayern Munich's allure prove too tempting for Palhinha?

Fulham need to offer more money to convince player – Transfer not happening for now
Fulham need to up their offer for Sevilla midfielder Lucas Ocampos if they are to convince him to move this summer.

That's according to Marca and journalist Juan Antonio Pineda, who say the initial proposal from Fulham has not been enough to convince the Argentine winger.

Fulham have been chasing Ocampos' signature over the last day or so, with them seemingly keen to strengthen Marco Silva's squad before Friday's transfer deadline.

Their interest has seen a number of articles on the matter across Spain, with initial positivity that they could get their man followed by an insistence that nothing was done between the clubs or between Fulham and the player.

A report earlier today indicated that those in charge at Craven Cottage needed to make more of an effort to get the winger, who was not convinced and doesn't seem that keen on leaving Sevilla.

It appears that remains the case, with Pineda quoted as saying that "Ocampos stays because the offer has not been enough for the player" when Marca asked him on the subject.

That would indicate then, that in talks with Ocampos, Fulham have not offered the required amount to make him think twice and so at this point he'll be remaining at Sevilla.

There is plenty of time for that to change, of course, particularly as Fulham have the funds from Aleksandr Mitrovic's sale to Saudi Arabia at their disposal, but for now they've not offered enough.

Bayern Munich are unlikely to sign Fulham's João Palhinha
As reported by Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are now unlikely to sign Fulham midfielder João Palhinha.

As previously understood, Die Rekordmeister had been keeping their eye on the Portuguese international in their hunt to sign a defensive midfielder. However, a move so late in the transfer window is now being considered as unrealistic for Thomas Tuchel's side.

Fulham are unwilling to sell their prized asset and would demand upwards of €90m for the 28-year-old with the window set to shut on Friday. Nevertheless, Bayern are in contact with Palhinha's agent and the player has given the green light on a move to Bavaria, but no concrete offer has been made.

Palhinha has been a crucial member of the Fulham squad since his arrival from Sporting CP last summer for a fee of €20m, helping guide the Cottagers to a tenth-place finish last season. He would also inspire Fulham to a surprise point at Arsenal on Saturday with a late strike against the Premier League title contenders.

As for Bayern's alternatives, a move for either Eric Dier or Scott McTominay is beginning to look unlikely. Florian Plettenberg's report would confirm that McTominay has never been a serious transfer target, while Eric Dier is currently not a hot topic at the Säbener Straße.

Super Fulham are spot on
Let's talk about last night. Plenty of people like to lambast the League Cup but it still delivers great moments. There's nothing better than an end-to-end encounter under the lights at Craven Cottage and, whereas a half-paced game between two second string sides might not have appealed when the draw gave us the visit of Tottenham Hotspur in between league visits to Arsenal and Manchester City, what we got was a classic. Marco Silva admitted afterwards he was infuriated that his side hadn't won in ninety minutes and every Fulham fan would have been filled with a sense of foreboding as we waited for the penalty shoot-out but that was when this side that keeps on surprising us proved their mettle once again.

Fulham have famously been far from reliable from twelve yards. Given our lack of success from twelve years, it would almost have been worth adopting the old Corinthian Casuals approach and declining to take a penalty. Our former Serbian striker, as good as he was at everything else, could not be called reliable from the spot. Then there were the travails of Slavisa Jokanovic's side who missed thirteen penalties after the departure of Ross McCormack as if we were being punished for recouping the money we paid Leeds from Aston Villa.

Whereas Ange Postecoglou gave a sermon about winning in advance of this game, Silva stayed true to his perfectionist approach. The Portuguese head coach, who paid the penalty for his third caution in succession at the Emirates by being banished to the stand, oversaw a series of practice sessions at Motspur Park. The result was sensational. I'm not sure anyone has ever seen five consecutive Fulham penalties as flawless. Harry Wilson's rocket was stuck with real fury as if he was angry at not seeing off Spurs in the 97 minutes that had preceded the shoot-out.

The icing on the cake was Marek Rodak, the man who helped the Whites to a pair of promotions from the Championship but has barely had the opportunity to prove himself in the top flight, making the decisive save from Davinson Sanchez, who might still have been bewildered by being put in a spin by Tom Cairney midway through the first half.

It wasn't just the penalties, either. Fulham were fantastic throughout – and could have won by quite a margin. SW6 was clearly a no-go area for Angeball. Spurs' seemed shambolic, barely causing Rodak to break sweat in the first half, and only scoring when Kenny Tete was forced to sprint to the dressing room to locate a new right boot. Have you ever seen anything quite like that?

How fitting it was that our flying Dutchman tucked away the winning penalty with his new right boot in front of the Hammersmith End? We've hinted at before but Marco Silva's Fulham are built different. He's a genius.

Fulham: Update as Whites chase late Rob Holding deal
Marco Silva is eyeing up the Englishman.

Fulham and manager Marco Silva appear to be pursuing a late move for Arsenal defender Rob Holding as news emerges before deadline day.

Who will Fulham sign?
The west Londoners have undergone a fairly solid start to this new Premier League campaign, having sealed a win, draw and loss over their trio of opening league games.

Their most impressive results have come most recently, though, with Fulham sealing a dramatic late draw away to title contenders Arsenal courtesy of a last gasp equaliser from midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Fulham have also just knocked high-flying Tottenham out of the Carabao Cup second round, as Tete's decisive spot-kick sealed a penalty shoot out win and their place in the draw's third-round on Tuesday night.

There is clearly momentum to build upon with these results as Silva's side attempt to improve on last year's mid-table finish, and they have been tipped to be one of the busier clubs over these last few days of the transfer window

Indeed, having already sealed deals for Calvin Bassey, Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore and Timothy Castagne, Fulham are believed to also be chasing late deals for Sevilla striker Lucas Ocampos and Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi.

Speaking late last month, Silva highlighted the need for further additions, with former star striker Alexandar Mitrovic since joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.

"Unfortunately, we need many still. We have some important players injured," Silva said.

"I hope they can come sooner. We have just two full backs, we need a midfielder too and we have just two wingers so we need another two wingers."

According to a report this week, Fulham also want to bolster their central defensive ranks once more after the signing of Bassey, coming as Tosin Adarabioyo remains linked with a late exit.

Holding, who will be allowed to leave Arsenal amid "significant" interest across Europe, is one player being targeted by Fulham for this role.

This information comes courtesy of 90min, who claim that Fulham have already approached Arsenal over signing Holding in the form of an enquiry.

As well as Fulham, clubs from La Liga, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.are also eyeing a late move before September 1, with Holding now entering the final year of his Arsenal deal which expires in 2024.

The Englishman's contract, though, contains an optional clause to extend it by a further 12 months.

How good is Rob Holding?
Holding has struggled to fight his way into Arteta's plans this season, with Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Ben White all ahead of him.

However, the 27-year-old has been praised for his influence and value behind-the-scenes. Journalist Charles Watts, speaking after Holding stepped in for the injured Saliba last term, called him a "very valuable" member of the dressing room.

"Clearly, people who were there [at the Emirates] said he played well," said Watts last season.

"And he's no Saliba, there's no doubt about it, but as a squad player, I think he's a very valuable, and really, really influential figure behind the scenes. Everyone loves him at Arsenal."

Perhaps a second chance to assert himself on the pitch at Fulham is needed.

Bayern 'unlikely' to pursue Palhinha
Bayern Munich's pursuit of João Palhinha appears to have been as shortlived as West Ham's earlier this summer.

Bild proclaimed the Portuguese midfielder was Thomas Tuchel's top target this morning but the Bavarians appear to have cooled their interest after learning that the 28 year-old would cost big bucks, according to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg.

The cost of meeting Fulham's valuation of our Portuguese high prince of tackling – as well as buying out his contract, which has a minimum of four years to run – appears to have convinced Die Bayern to look elsewhere for Tuchel's new number six.

Steven Benda completes transfer to Fulham

Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda has joined Fulham for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The 24-year-old joins the Cottagers after spending six years in SA1, making 31 senior appearances in total.

Benda signed for the Swans from 1860 Munich in 2017, initially joining the club's academy set-up, and was included in the first-team matchday squad on 14 occasions during the 2018-19 season.

The following campaign saw him help Swindon to promotion to League One while on loan, before he made his senior debut for the Swans in a home win over Millwall early in the 2020-21 campaign.

During the 2021-22 season, Benda joined Championship club Peterborough United on loan and made 11 appearances - including in an FA Cup tie against Manchester City - having started the season as first choice for Swansea.

He featured on 23 occasions during the 2022-23 season before a serious knee injury, which he is still recovering from, sidelined him.

Everyone at Swansea City thanks Steven for his efforts during his time at the club, and wishes him well in his future career.

Fulham Sign Benda

The Club is pleased to announce the signing of Steven Benda from Swansea City for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has agreed a deal until the summer of 2026, with a Club option to extend by a further year.

Speaking to FFCtv after putting pen to paper, Benda said: "I'm really happy. It's a massive club with a lot of history and tradition, so I'm really happy to be here.

"Just look at this stadium, and the Club itself, playing for Marco Silva, it was a very easy decision."

Tony Khan added: "I'm pleased to welcome Steven Benda to Fulham.

"He's a talented young goalkeeper, and while he's currently recovering from injury, we've monitored him for some time and believe that he'll be a valuable addition to Marco's squad upon his return.

"Come on Fulham."

After coming through the ranks in his native Germany with 1860 Munich, the imposing goalkeeper was scouted by Swansea, who duly brought him to Wales in August 2017.

During his time in the Swans' youth sides, Benda helped the Under-19s win the FAW Youth Cup in 2018 by saving two penalties against fierce rivals Cardiff City.

His first taste of senior football came during a loan spell at Swindon Town in the 2019/20 season, where he helped the Robins claim the League Two title, making 27 appearances across all competitions.

A Championship debut arrived the following campaign back with his parent club, before another loan spell – this time in the Champ – with Peterborough United in 2021/22, where he featured 18 times.

Benda's form with the Posh saw him cement his position as Swansea's first choice last season, making 23 appearances before a knee injury in January brought a premature end to his campaign.

Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch agrees personal terms with Liverpool as Reds look to settle on a fee with the German giants... who are targeting Joao Palhinha as a replacement but have been quoted £70m by Fulham

Ryan Gravenberch has been keen to leave Bayern Munich in the current window

Bayern Munich's Ryan Gravenberch has agreed personal terms with Liverpool as the Dutchman seeks regular minutes - and the Bundesliga side's pursuit of Joao Palhinha could pave the way for a move to Liverpool.

Liverpool are hoping a fee around £35m can complete the deal for Holland international Gravenberch.

Bayern are offering £52m for Palhinha but Fulham, reluctant to sell at such a late stage, have increased their demands to around £70m.

Bayern are reluctant to go that high but talks are continuing after the Portuguese star told Fulham he wishes to make the move.

Dutch midfielder Gravenberch joined the Bavarian outfit in 2022 from Ajax, with the German side seeing the youngster as an attacking midfielder with huge potential.

However, the 21-year-old struggled to make an impression in the last 12 months, earning just six starts in his 34 appearances in Germany.

Now the player is keen to leave the club in the current transfer window, and has since agreed terms with Liverpool over a potential deal, although the two sides are still yet to agree a fee.

And with Fulham's Palhinha nearing an exit for the Bundesliga titans, Thomas Tuchel's side may feel better-placed to let the youngster leave, with a dynamic midfield option of their own drawing close to an arrival.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to be desperate to fill in the final slot of his midfield three, following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, both of whom have come straight into the fold.

Gravenberch fits the profile of player that the club are looking for, aged just 21 and versatile in the middle of the park capable of playing in an attacking role, as well as from a deeper position.

The Reds have a long-held interest in the promising young midfielder, and were interested in bringing him to Anfield before his £21million move to Bayern Munich last summer.

With a number of high profile midfield departures this summer Liverpool have been keen to reinforce their ranks in the middle of the park.

They lost Jordan Henderson (Al-Ettifaq) and Fabinho (Al-Ittihad) to Saudi Arabia, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner all left at the end of their contracts last season.

But Liverpool suffered blows in the market, with Chelsea twice pipping them to targets Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Southampton's Romeo Lavia, leaving Klopp's side keen to fill in their third midfield spot.

Manchester United remain in the background monitoring Gravenberch's situation, in the hope the 21-year-old Holland international may even be allowed out on an initial loan though that seems unlikely at this stage with Bayern needing to recoup funds.

The German champions are also in negotiations with Chelsea for defender Trevoh Chalobah following the sale of Benjamin Pavard to Inter, while talks have also been held over Tottenham's Eric Dier.

"Doesn't seem feasible" – Club's ability to sign Fulham player is questioned
Earlier on Wednesday, the German media claimed that Bayern Munich are interested in signing João Palhinha from Fulham.

With the Bundesliga side needing to add new pieces to the midfield, it was said they set eyes on Marco Silva's star.

It turns out that as Sky Deutschland now has an update on the situation, they point out how difficult it would be for Bayern to snatch Palhinha from Fulham.

Some comments were made by Florian Plettenberg, who claimed that the price is too high for the German club to afford.

"It really doesn't seem feasible to me because of our information about Bayern's plans."

According to Sky's information, Bayern Munich are in contact with both Fulham and the player's staff. The problem is that the Whites demand €90m for the sale, and already proved how serious they are when turning down €60m from West Ham.

Plettenberg highlighted that the possibility of joining the Bundesliga side is something that attracts Palhinha, as well as his agents.

"Of course, that spurs him on, he would immediately switch to FC Bayern. That is a fact. The advisory staff and the player would do that. Bayern are definitely in contact with all parties."

With Bayern not looking very confident either, Sky claims that they didn't even make an offer. Palhinha is said to be Thomas Tuchel's priority, but also very hard to achieve.

Meanwhile, Plettenberg is hyping the situation on Twitter... which doesn't seem very consistent with the earlier statements.
