Fulham boss coy over interest in Chelsea youngster Gael Kakuta

FULHAM boss Mark Hughes is remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking him with Gael Kakuta.

The Whites have reporteded lined up a loan move for the Chelsea winger, while Shaun Wright-Phillips has also been muted for a switch to Craven Cottage.

And Hughes has refused to rule out a move for Kakuta before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

He said: "There's lots of conversations going on. He's a player I know, I like the qualities that he has, but as with all these situations, I don't like commenting on individuals."

Mark Hughes cools interest in Spurs striker Robbie Keane

MARK Hughes has cooled his interest in a new striker after Mousa Dembele's return to fitness.

The Fulham boss had made a new frontman his number one priority after injuries to Bobby Zamora, Dembele and Andy Johnson, and has been linked with a move for Robbie Keane.

But Belgium international Dembele returned to action in last weekend's draw at Wigan, while Johnson got himself back on the scoresheet at the DW.

And with Zamora stepping up his recovery from his Achilles problem, Hughes admits the pressure to bring in a new attacker has eased.

He said: "There was a little bit of anxiety because of injuries. That has eased somewhat.

"Andy Johnson has come back and started scoring now and Mousa is back playing games, so that anxiety has disappeared somewhat."

On the interest in Keane, Hughes added: "Robbie Keane is a striker that a lot of clubs have discussed, and I am sure they have investigated the matter further than we have."

Duo pushing for Cottage starts

Andy Johnson is expected to start up front when Fulham face Stoke at Craven Cottage, while Steve Sidwell could be handed a full debut.

Former Everton and Crystal Palace man Johnson scored the equaliser at Wigan last weekend and could start against Tony Pulis' men, who will have their new loan signing John Carew in their ranks.

Having been an unused substitute at the DW Stadium, Sidwell could get the nod to start having had a full week of training, while Moussa Dembele could also return.

David Stockdale will continue to deputise for Mark Schwarzer between the posts, with the Australian still on international duty at the Asian Cup.

Fulham boss Mark Hughes hoping to end spat with Tony Pulis

MARK Hughes hopes to bury the hatchet with Stoke boss Tony Pulis tomorrow.

The Fulham manager comes face-to-face with his Welsh compatriot for the first time since Pulis snubbed his handshake after the Whites' 2-0 victory at the Britannia over Christmas.

It came after Hughes had blanked Pulis following Andy Wilkinson's horror tackle on Mousa Dembele when the sides met in the Carling Cup earlier this season.

However, Hughes insists it's time for the pair to grow up and end their spat.

He said: "I always offer my hand, it was just blown out of proportion.

"It was a tit for tat. We're both emotional guys and have shown it in the wrong way.

"We both need to grow up. There's no hard feelings."

Come on, guys. By saying that, Hughes has lowered the price on any incoming attacker. If he said, "We're desperate to sign a striker before the end of the month" prices would skyrocket. Hughes is smart enough to recognize the effects of supply and demand.
