Silly Trend

Watching games on TV, I have noticed a daft trend that you sometimes see after a goal is scored.
The scorer's team mates seem intent on  assaulting him.
The bumping of puffed out chests, the face or back of the head slapping, the heavy slap/pats to the top of the head and worse the push in the back if he wheels away to celebrate.
It's almost as if they are jealous of him scoring.
I am so glad that our players do not indulge in such ridiculous rituals.

StefJo was often involved in such larks for us, whacking the goalscorer on the head

Yes, but that was the opposition goalscorer.

It must sooner or later lead to an injury and that will put a stop to it.

Yet, touch them when they're playing & they go down like a scene from Apocalypse Now

Bassey playing with Jimenez recently mended head was a standout example.

Always worried about the knee slide celebrations and players then jumping on top twisting legs or injuring ACLs.

I don't like the knee slides as youngsters try to copy their idols on a Sunday morning sliding through the Dog excrement and other junk from the night before

Yes ,lets get back to a simple hug and handshake, that was good enough for a lot of great players in the good old days.
