Honestly rather surprised at this.

Full 2 hour interview here... He chats about all that at around 55 minutes, for about 15 minutes, seems he started when he finished playing....

To be fair I think he talks well about it, and the recovery etc.

Interesting - thanks.

Never thought this would happen to someone like Danny, always seems so level headed, but just shows that this can happen to anyone; though he obviously had the wherewithal, in every way, to  get through it, though not all footballers have managed this.

He's very open and articulate.

Totally agree. Saddened to hear of this. Good luck Danny.

Oh dear, who would have thought it.
Danny always seemed fully in control of any situation and someone most of us would have welcomed as a Fulham manager.

Best of luck for the future Danny.

As RaySmith said, a great example of how addiction isn't a 'rational' problem. Its very nature is that it can take an otherwise healthy brain and totally ruin it. Very sad but congratulations to Danny for getting under control.

I think he admitted this a few years ago. Great credit to him for his openness. It must be very difficult for top athletes to adjust to life after fame
