West Ham United and Fulham keen on Fotis Ioannidis

West Ham and Fulham are considering a move for Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis as a summer squad option.
According to The Sun, West Ham United and Fulham could tussle for Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis. The London duo could look for an additional centre-forward as a squad option that could see either side make changes to their forward line.

West Ham and Fulham are chasing Fotis Ioannidis
Fotis Ioannidis has been a compelling presence in the Greek Super League this season and has lately hit imperious form for Panathinaikos. He dreams of upgrading his career and hopes that his 21 goals this season may see some big clubs call for his services.

He will undoubtedly want a dream move to the Premier League, with Panathinaikos ready to sanction a deal should they get a fair valuation for the £15 million-rated striker. West Ham United are keen on Ioannidis, while Fulham are also named as suitors for the towering striker in the report.

The London duo are looking at squad options ahead of the summer and certainly do not consider Ioannidis as someone to come in as a sure starter. Instead, they want the Greek striker to play second-fiddle to their leading men, Michail Antonio and Rodrigo Muniz,

The £15 million-rated striker could be a solid addition who could help strengthen their forward line and even add some precious goals next season. Either club does not have that necessary depth of quality on their side now; hence, the addition would make complete sense.

West Ham eyeing a new forward?
Apart from someone like Ioannidis, who is more or less a squad option, the Hammers are also angling for a move for a starting centre-forward. Sevilla's Youssef En-Nesyri is an option, with the Moroccan ready to leave the Spanish side for a new challenge.

Ivan Toney is also featured on their shortlist, but the Hammers will face competition from some top London sides for the Brentford star's signature. Overall, West Ham will likely spend decent money on a new centre-forward, with the club concerned about Antonio's long-term future amid a season troubled by injuries.

Silva and Moyes don't quite see eye to eye
Irons & Fulham bosses see the Hammers 2-0 loss slightly differently.

Fulham manager Marco Silva seemed to view Fulham's 2-0 Premier League win over West Ham somewhat differently from David Moyes. I guess that's a regular occurrence between any two managers following a game of football, but I do find Silva's analysis far more reflective of the game.

Hammers manager Moyes seemed to be under the impression that his team enjoyed the best chances and controlled the game for large periods. However, Silva, whilst remaining respectful, seemed to disagree with that conclusion.

"It's a great win for us," Silva said. "We played well and, to be honest, I think we really deserved the three points. I have to say that, in the first 10 minutes, West Ham started better than us; they had a good chance to score with Antonio and we should have defended better in that situation."

"But after that, when we scored the first goal, we started to control the game and we gained confidence. Overall during the match, we scored twice but created a lot more chances to score as well. Of course, West Ham had their chances."

"I think we were really solid, we were compact, we kept our concentration most of the time. And when this happens, we know the quality that we have, the way we play. We were solid, and most of our transitions, our counter-attacks, they were really good.

"Being more clinical, with more killer instinct, we should have scored more goals and been even more comfortable winning this game."

David Moyes shares tiresome excuse for Fulham defeat that doesn't ring true, the proof is there for everyone to see
West Ham United manager David Moyes certainly isn't the most popular man in East London after our defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

David Moyes desperately needed all three points yesterday, but West Ham United's defeat to Fulham in the Premier League was exactly what the players deserved in the end.

Despite a positive first seven or eight minutes, the Hammers just weren't at the races for the rest of the game, with the likes of Lucas Paqueta nowhere near the levels he's capable of showing.

The defeat was a gutting result. A win would have taken us up to sixth spot in the table but now it's looking like a top eight finish will be a real challenge.

Let's face it, West Ham have been awful in 2024. We've won just four of our last 20 games in all competitions – not good enough.

It's no coincidence that our real dip in form came after the shocking January transfer window. The fact that we allowed Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals to leave without replacing them is unforgivable.

The awful Kalvin Phillips signing certainly hasn't helped our cause, but what excuse did Moyes serve up for the defeat yesterday?

David Moyes shares tiresome excuse for Fulham defeat
The Scot addressed the media after yesterday's shambolic showing against the Cottagers, and the ensuing 2-0 defeat.

Moyes has made a habit of blaming a lot of things for our poor form and run of results really, all apart from himself of course.

Moyes responded when asked by the performance was so bad at the London Stadium yesterday, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
"It's an opportunity to bounce back against Bayer Leverkusen. It's a quick turnaround but it's not as quick a turnaround as Thursday to Sunday. When it is Sunday to Thursday you have an extra day or two to get yourself ready, and it's a little bit easier to prepare for that game, while the other gives you no time at all. We will get ready for the game on Thursday night now, and hopefully we can respond in the right way."

I'm sorry David, but you've caused this problem.

The Scot is moaning about tired legs yet he didn't make one single substitution during our 1-1 draw with Tottenham two weeks ago.

Then, he only made two changes out in Leverkusen last week – and not until he 86th minute! He can't have it both ways.

The Hammers boss has allowed the situation to manifest whereby he has a dangerously thin squad at his disposal.

Another thing, I'm still yet to hear a reporter ask him what the difference is between Thursday / Sunday games and Wednesday / Saturday matches.

The answer is...there isn't a difference. Moyes rolled out the same old tiresome excuse after the Fulham defeat but it just doesn't wash anymore.

West Ham confirm midfielder George Earthy has been discharged from hospital after suffering a head injury during his Premier League debut against Fulham
West Ham's George Earthy is back home after being released from hospital
Earthy came on in the 82nd minute against Fulham but had to be taken off

West Ham midfielder George Earthy has been discharged from hospital after the head injury he suffered in Sunday's Premier League fixture against Fulham.

The 19-year-old came on for his Premier League debut in the 82nd minute at the London Stadium as a replacement for Michail Antonio.

However, Earthy was taken off on a stretcher in stoppage time, with Maxwel Cornet coming on.

West Ham confirmed on Sunday that Earthy was awake in hospital after being transferred for a further assessment.

The club has now revealed Earthy has returned home after being discharged from hospital.

West Ham players called for the medical staff to attend to their teammate after the collision

Earthy will now follow FA and Premier League concussion guidelines ahead of his return to action.

'George is back home and we will continue to monitor him over the coming days as he completes the graduated return to play programme,' said Richard Collinge, West Ham performance director.

Earthy was given oxygen on the pitch and received treatment for six minutes after an accidental collision with West Ham team-mate Edson Alvarez.

West Ham boss David Moyes confirmed post-match that Earthy had sustained a head injury.

'West Ham United wishes to place on record its thanks to our own medical team, as well as their counterparts at Fulham and Medics24, our pitchside rescue team, for the immediate response to yesterday's incident,' a West Ham statement read.

'The Club also extends its thanks for the many messages of support sent to George.

'Everyone at West Ham United wishes George a safe and speedy recovery.'

Fulham won 2-0, with Andreas Pereira scoring both goals for the visitors.

It was a second senior appearance for Earthy, who featured as a substitute in West Ham's Europa League win at home to Freiburg last month.

A product of West Ham's academy, Earthy was part of the West Ham U18 team that won the FA Youth Cup and the U18 Premier League South last season.
