Can I point out to anyone who thinks it wasn't a penalty that fouls are awarded for challenges that are deemed to be "Careless, reckless or with excessive force.

If a player challenges with a raised leg, showing his studs and makes contact with an opponent there's a good chance the officials will award a free kick for any of the above reasons anywhere on the pitch.
