Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match Result: Bristol City
Tom Cairney has been named Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match from Fulham's Carabao Cup victory over Bristol City.

Making his first start of the season alongside long-time midfield colleague Harrison Reed, Cairney dictated the tempo of the evening, particularly after the team stormed into an early two goal lead.

"I think with the experience we had on the pitch we kind of managed that situation a little bit, especially second half," Cairney told FFCtv post-match.

"It's nice playing with Reedy, I think we understand each other's games. I thoroughly enjoyed it, to be honest."

Cairney was an overwhelming fan choice for star man, collecting a whopping 42 per cent of the vote.

Raúl Jiménez came in second on 16%, while Reed (14.3%) beat centre-backs Jorge Cuenca and Issa Diop to third spot.

Fulham player undergoes medical in England – Announcement on way
Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira has already undergone medical tests in England, with Palmeiras now preparing to announce him as their latest signing.

According to Globo Esporte, the paperwork is almost complete and the Brazilian club could even make the deal official before Pereira travels to São Paulo – something they previously did with former West Ham winger Felipe Anderson when he signed his pre-contract from Italy last year.

The 29-year-old will join Palmeiras on a deal running until December 2028, after the clubs agreed a €10m (£8.4m) fee. That amount will be paid in installments over three years and is nearly half of what Fulham rejected back in January, when Palmeiras had offered close to €20m.

Once announced, the club will focus on registering Pereira in time, with the transfer window still open until 2 September.

With the addition of Andreas Pereira, Palmeiras' total spending on signings this year will approach €120m (around R$700m), marking the highest single-year investments by a Brazilian club.

Pereira 'undergoes Palmeiras medical'
Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira has taken his medical in England with Palmeiras poised to announce the Brazilian international's arrival as a summer signing.

Globo Esporto reports that the paperwork is pretty much signed and sealed on the 29 year-old's £8.4m move to the Sao Paolo-based outfit, who are ready to confirm the deal even before Pereira touches down in his homeland. The former Manchester United midfielder has agreed a four-year deal with Palmeiras and hopes to force his way into Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil squad for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Palmeiras will pay Pereira's transfer fee in installments and the deal takes their year-long spending to a Brazilian record £103m. The midfielder made 110 appearances in three years with the Whites, scoring ten goals.

Marco Silva stresses the significance of 'clinical', 'ruthless' first half hour against Bristol City
The Fulham manager mentioned the importance of starting fast in the Carabao Cup.

Marco Silva has steered his side into the third round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Bristol City. A two goal lead inside the first half hour handled business at Craven Cottage, and the Fulham manager was happy with a "clinical" and "ruthless" display from his players to put any worries to bed.

    'A serious and professional performance'

Silva stressed the importance of an early goal to give as little momentum to the Robins as possible.

"It was a better first half than the second. It was important to start well, to be clinical, ruthless."

He got what he wanted. Adama Traore hooked a devilish delivery into the penalty area, and George Tanner turned the ball into the back of his net. Raul Jimenez was on his shoulder, and the striker scored the second goal himself, doubling the advantage for the favourites after the first 21 minutes.

"It's always important to start leading the score in this type of game, to take a little bit of the trust and the belief from the opposition side. You know that it's normal that the enthusiasm, the motivation from teams from lower divisions is always there."

The manager mentioned went well before the break, and where he would have wanted improvement.

"During the half, I think that we have controlled very well the game. On the ball, I would like to see more in their offensive half, instead of in our half to build up with the ball, but they tried to press us high as well. But we had some good moments, some good combinations as well, and it was good."

Following a pair of 1-1 stalemates in the Premier League, the Portuguese pressed his players before the restart to couple their first victory of the new campaign with a clean sheet at Craven Cottage,.

"I told our players at half time it was important to go to try to score more, but that it was important for us to keep the clean sheet. Was not the type of game I would like to see us concede goals, because it's important to start to create and have these good vibes and feelings when you keep a clean sheet."

The display did not dazzle from the hosts, but they accomplished the task set out before them.

"Second half, we should have kept the ball more and controlled the game better with the ball. We gave many times the ball away, but overall it was a serious and professional performance from ourselves."

Strasbourg eye £6m move for Godo
Strasbourg have offered around £6m for Fulham winger Martial Godo, according to reports from France.

French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter suggests that the Ligue 1 side, managed by former Fulham full back Liam Rosenior, are interested in signing the Ivory Coast under-23 international on a permanent basis. The Whites have not formally rejected an approach from Coventry City for the former Margate and Dartford winger – believed to be worth around £2.5m – but Godo is understood to want to play regular first-team football.

Marco Silva referred to Godo's situation in the build up to Sunday's draw with Manchester United saying that the winger was denied a Championship loan last season after Fulham decided to sell Jay Stansfield. He implied that the 22 year-old's future would be dependent on whether new wingers arrive before the start of the season. Godo, who is under contract at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2028, has made six senior appearances for the Whites but has yet to feature for Silva's senior side in a competitive game this season.

Kevin scores as Shakhtar beat Servette after extra time
Fulham target Kevin scored and played the whole 120 minutes as Shakhtar Donetsk came from behind to qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Conference League by beating Servette 2-1 after extra time.

Reports earlier this week had suggested that the Whites were close to completing a deal to sign the 22 year-old winger having re-opened discussions with Shakhtar about a possible £40m move to Craven Cottage. The promising pacey Brazilian is understood to be interested in moving to the Premier League, but the Miners are holding out for as much as possible in terms of a fee for their prised asset. Kevin's presence in the starting line-up suggests there is some way to go before a deal can be concluded.

Kevin converted a penalty with twenty minutes to go, which cancelled out an early Servette goal. In an end-to-end enthralling extra time, Pedrinho set up substitute Kaua Elias, who fired Shakhtar into the group stages. They will find out their opponents in the group stages in the draw, which is due to take place later today.

United reject Mainoo's request for a loan move
Manchester United have rejected Kobbie Mainoo's request for a loan move away from Old Trafford in the final hours of the transfer window, according to the Athletic's David Ornstein.

The Stockport-born midfielder told club bosses that he wanted to leave on a temporary basis on Thursday morning after being benched by head coach Ruben Amorim for both of United's Premier League games so far this season. The England international, who did play in Wednesday's humiliating defeat by Grimsby Town, wanted to gain first-team football elsewhere in order to impress national team boss Thomas Tuchel, who is set to leave Mainoo out of his England squad for next month's European qualifiers.

Fulham had enquired about Mainoo's availability in the aftermath of the midfielder being an unused substitute at Craven Cottage on Sunday. But United have 'refused to sanction' a loan move, according to Ornstein, and expect Mainoo to fight for his place in the Old Trafford starting line-up. It remains to be seen what the next steps for the talented midfielder – because the finances of a permanent transfer are beyond most of his suitors.
