Fulham Women 4-2 Norwich Women

Fulham Women maintained their excellent start to the season with a 4-2 win over Norwich City, in an entertaining clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

After Grace Riglar had cancelled out Madi Parsonson's opener, the Whites took control of proceedings and went 3-1 up courtesy of goals from centre-backs Ella Tagliavini and Becky Stormer.

City threatened a nervy ending courtesy of substitute Issy Moore, but a glorious 90th minute chip from captain Jade Bradley meant the points were staying at the Cottage.

It was an even start to the encounter as the two sides – who each boasted a 100 per cent league record – sized each other up, with the flow of the game not helped when Taomë Oliver had to be replaced by Megalie Mendes 18 minutes in.

The opener did soon follow, though. A rapid counter attack was started and finished by Parsonson, who smashed a stunning first time strike into the top corner after being picked out by a gorgeous curling cross from Katie Dungate.

Unfortunately, the lead lasted less than four minutes, with captain Riglar directing a firm header beyond Jacqui Goldsmid following a Freya Symonds corner from the right.

Parsonson then turned provider and was inches away from teeing up Ellie Olds for a tap-in, but there was a little too much zip on her centre.

An outrageous attempt just after the half hour mark almost had the Canaries in front when Symonds spotted Goldsmid off her line and tried her luck from the edge of the centre circle. It was a very admirable effort, one that thankfully marginally cleared the crossbar and landed on the roof of the net.

We had a long range effort of our own when Stella Gandee Morgan rifled one in from 25 yards, drawing a sprawling save from Holly Mears.

From that corner, the Whites went in front. Played short, it was worked back to taker Lily Stevens who bent in a dangerous delivery that Mears did not properly deal with while being challenged by Gandee Morgan, leaving Tagliavini with the opportunity to nod home the loose ball.

There was almost another quick response from the visitors when a high press presented Symonds with a shooting chance, but a brave block from Leeta Rutherford diverted it away.

Another injury blow was dealt Fulham's way in first half stoppage time, when goal scorer Tagliavini had to be replaced by Stormer.

We flew out of the blocks after the restart and extended our lead within five minutes. After a sustained period of pressure, Olds did well to keep the ball in at the byline and pick out Gandee Morgan. She hit the post but it dropped back into the path of Stormer who made no mistake with her volley.

Dungate then collected the ball on the edge of the box with her back to goal, before a quick swivel and shot that was saved by Mears.

Next, Bradley hit a first time thunderbolt from distance that looked set to rise into the top corner, but Mears was able palm it behind at full stretch.

Norwich found a way back into the game on 71 minutes when Moore was left with a simple finish after a coming together between Goldsmid and Olivia Dale.

But the Whites remained calm and limited any threats of an equaliser, and in fact were able to put some more daylight between the sides with a stunning strike from Bradley, who chipped a beautiful effort in from 20 yards after Mears' punch had dropped to the Fulham captain 20 yards out.

Fulham star risks wrath of Premier League chiefs with furious rant on VAR controversy
Fulham were denied a goal in controversial circumstances before going on to lose 2-0 against Chelsea, with the PGMOL later admitting that VAR shouldn't have intervened

Fulham defender Antonee Robinson has risked punishment from the Premier League by labelling the standard of its officiating 'shocking for too long'. Robinson, 28, was part of the Fulham side who were left furious after their opening goal against Chelsea on Saturday was controversially ruled out by VAR.

Josh King, Fulham's 18-year-old academy graduate, scored after an assist from Rodrigo Muniz. But following a lengthy VAR check which saw referee Robert Jones sent over to the pitch-side monitor, the goal was ruled out for a foul by Muniz in the build-up.

The Cottagers striker was adjudged to have fouled Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah while he was turning on the ball. Michael Salisbury, the video assistant referee, advised Jones to review the incident and a foul was awarded.

Chelsea went on to win 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, extending Fulham's winless start to the Premier League season. On Sunday, the PGMOL admitted that VAR shouldn't have intervened, removing Salisbury from his duties for Liverpool against Arsenal that afternoon.

It was in response to the PGMOL's acknowledgment that Robinson hit out. In a post on Instagram, the United States international slammed the level of refereeing and use of VAR in English football's top-flight.

"If they can check something for 5 minutes and still get it wrong, what's actually the point?" Robinson posted. "Standard of officiating has been shocking in the prem for too long now."

His boss, Marco Silva, wasn't impressed with the decision either. "How you disallow a goal like that is unbelievable," Silva told TNT Sports. "We have meetings with referee and people in charge, we all want to win. VAR is not here to re-referee the game.

"I would prefer not to say something more because I would be punished. I want to be on the touchline next week to help my team, I don't want to be fined. But it has been a difficult start to the season with some decisions.

Chukwueze set for Fulham medical
Samuel Chukwueze is heading to London for a Fulham medical ahead of a proposed loan move from AC Milan, according to the Times' Peter Rutzler.

The Nigerian winger has been the subject of prolonged negotiations between Fulham and the Serie A side – and it is understood that the clubs have reached a tentative agreement over the terms of a season-long loan. The deal to take the former Villarreal winger is not completed yet, but AC Milan have agreed to allow the 26 year-old to travel in order that the medical tests are completed to ensure that the move is able to be completed before the transfer deadline.

Fulham have also agreed a fee for Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian winger Kevin, who is understood to have had his medical at Motspur Park today, as the Whites scramble to supplement Marco Silva's first-team squad with the signings the head coach has demanded since the start of the summer.

A deal that had already been set up with great confidence in recent days, though there had been a pause at one point due to other market factors.

Reports: Chukwueze heading for London ahead of medical with Fulham
Samuel Chukwueze is currently on his way to London to undergo a medical ahead of joining Fulham, reports claim.

According to Matteo Moretto, Chukwueze is on his way to England this evening. The negotiation between Milan and Fulham is not yet 100% closed, but the player is flying there preemptively to be ready for medical visits and signing.

The operation is in the process of being finalised and it is of course expected to be completed before tomorrow's deadline. As a reminder, the window shuts in Italy at 20:00 CEST.

MilanNews are also reporting that the Nigerian winger is London-bound, putting an end to weeks of speculation about whether or not he will remain at Milan under Massimiliano Allegri.

The offloading of yet another winger – after Noah Okafor joined Leeds United – seems to suggest that Allegri plans to persist with playing a three-man defence with two strikers.

In other news, it appears as though Artem Dovbyk could end up arriving from Roma with Santiago Gimenez heading the other way, so it promises to be a busy deadline day.

The Cottagers are keen to bring in reinforcements before Monday's deadline, having made just one new addition in the summer transfer window.

The West London club are believed to be looking to sign another winger before the market slams shut after losing Willian and Reiss Nelson at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old has made 70 competitive appearances for the Rossoneri, but he has been unable to establish himself as a regular fixture in the starting lineup.

Chukwueze's situation has not changed following the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri, who has used the winger in just one of his first three matches in charge.

As a result, Chukwueze hopes that a potential move to Fulham will offer him the chance to play regular football, while it would also allow him to try a new challenge in a different league.

Div 1 Champs 25 years on: September

To commemorate the 25 year anniversary of Fulham's 2000/01 title winning season, at the start of every month we will look back on how Jean Tigana's side fared this time quarter of a century ago.

After a stunning August which had seen Jean Tigana named Division One Manager of the Month, Fulham embarked on an absolutely chock-a-block September, which featured no fewer than eight First Team matches.

The month kicked off with a 4-1 win over Northampton in the League Cup, ensuring a successful overturn of the 1-0 defeat in the First Leg at Sixfields. We had trailed 2-0 in the tie after Ian Sampson's earlier opener at the Cottage, but a second quick free-kick goal of the season from Sean Davis drew us level on the night on the stroke of half-time.

"I just did it instinctively," Davis said. "I don't get forward that much in the position I play so I don't really get a chance to score many goals so it's the only chance I get to score- when the keeper isn't really looking!"

That goal prompted a much improved second half performance, with a Louis Saha brace following a Fabrice Fernandes worldie chip to book our spot in Round Two. The game also saw Zat Knight make his debut for the Club.

The Sky cameras were at the Cottage the following Sunday, for a meeting with a side who did the double over Fulham the previous season, leading Chris Coleman to expect a difficult afternoon.

"Today's game will be our toughest test, home or away, so far this season. Barnsley were one of last season's leading lights in Division One and they gave us a real runaround at the Cottage."

But a stern test, it was not. The Whites were three up by the break courtesy of a Saha hat-trick, with Barry Hayles and Luis Boa Morte adding some gloss either side of a Matty Appleby consolation.

Barnsley also played the last quarter of the game with 10 men, but Mitch Ward managed to get in a few extra minutes on the pitch, when the referee neglected to remember that he had already booked the Tykes midfielder.

"It hurts me to say it, but they were much better than us," Barnsley boss Dave Bassett said post-match.

Absurdly, the Whites were in Division One action again just two days later, but shrugged off any fatigue to dispatch of Burnley 3-1.

Bjarne Goldbaek was Man of the Match that evening having scored his side's equalising goal with a stunning long range free-kick, and fans may remember him having words with opposition manager Stan Ternent, after the winger took umbrage with the Clarets' physical nature.

Saha's eighth and ninth goals of the season maintained our 100 per cent start to the season.

A fuel shortage meant it was a stressful day for anyone on the Club coaches up to Nottingham Forest that weekend, but thankfully the result will have negated any travel frustrations.

Saha's penalty just before the hour mark broke the deadlock, before Fernandes and Hayles netted within a minute of each other late on to make the game safe.

As was the case in the last round, Fulham slipped to a 1-0 defeat in the First Leg of our League Cup tie with Chesterfield, but again responded with aplomb at the Cottage, putting four past them without reply courtesy of Steve Hayward, Kit Symons, Hayles and Boa Morte.

In between those meetings with the Spireites, we hosted Gillingham in SW6. Hayles dazzled in the 3-0 victory, scoring two wonderful goals himself in addition to setting up Lee Clark.

September ended with arguably our most daunting prospect to date. Bolton Wanderers had been one of the pre-season favourites, and were living up to those expectations by winning six and drawing two of their opening eight matches.

But within 12 seconds, Fulham were in front at the Reebok Stadium, with Boa Morte – in for the injured Saha – pouncing after our hosts had squandered possession from their own kick-off.

The Whites were by far the more positive throughout the afternoon, but had to wait 84 more minutes to put the game to bed, and it was Boa Morte once again who fired home after Jussi Jaaskelainen had parried his initial effort, sending the travelling fans behind the goal into delirium.

It was a statement win, and one which meant only Fulham and Watford remained unbeaten in Division One.

Next up? 13th placed Blackburn Rovers at the Cottage in mid-October...

Versatile Getafe attacker is reportedly on the verge of joining Crystal Palace in a deal worth around €20 million in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Christantus Uche has been the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. A man in demand, but one who has his next destination clear
Fulham will dip into the market for multiple attackers in the final hours of the summer transfer window. Marco Silva has endured a frustrating summer, with the West London club struggling to back him with adequate signings. With Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe, and Rodrigo Muniz needing more support in the final third, Uche emerged as a viable target for Fulham.

Meanwhile, Leeds United's interest in Christantus Uche made sense. The Whites are combing the market for a versatile and creative attacker in the final hours of the summer transfer window, as Daniel Farke wants more firepower in the final third despite signing several attackers. While the report by AS has claimed that Crystal Palace and Getafe must wait to hash out the fine details of the agreement, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the Azulones "expect all formal steps to be respected on Monday" to seal the 22-year-old Nigerian international's departure.

Serie A giants Milan are finally about to part ways with winger Samuel Chukwueze, who is nearing a move to Fulham.

Talks regarding the move have been ongoing for days now and the London club also tried to sign the Nigerian late in the January transfer window. A move fell through due to the lack of time left in the window.

Now, a deal is close to being done. Gianluca di Marzio has reported that a deal is very close to being finalised and it can be done in the next hour. The wide player will join Fulham on an initial loan deal.

Alfredo Pedulla has reported that talks have been ongoing for days and Chukwueze is expected to land in London later today to undergo a medical.

Fulham's total deal is expected to cost €25 million, with exact details about the transfer yet to fully emerge.

Sunderland 'Wasting No Time' As Deal Agreed For Striker Amid Fulham Failing With Offer
Sunderland 'are wasting no time' and have reached a 'general agreement' to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey on deadline day, after Fulham failed with an approach.

Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris has been keen to strengthen his attacking options and that need became more urgent in recent hours.

Le Bris agreed to Sunderland cancelling their loan of Chelsea striker Marc Guiu, despite the club having no contractual need to send him back in this window.

That has led to the need to land a striker now and Sunderland have been working to capture Ajax man Brobbey.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Sunderland 'are wasting no time' and made an initial offer for Brobbey last night.

There is now a 'general agreement' in place on the basis of a transfer fee of €20m plus a further €5m in add-ons to take Brobbey to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland now need to agree personal terms with the striker, with a five-year contract on the table for him to sign.

Brobbey was not in Ajax's squad for their weekend game against Volendam, with the striker given an opportunity to arrange an exit.

He has been linked with a number of clubs over the course of the transfer window, including Roma, Rennes, Lille and Como.

The striker turned down Italian Serie A side Como as an option.

Fulham 'also knocked on the door' for Brobbey on Sunday, however the Cottagers wanted to sign the striker on a loan agreement and that was not something Ajax were prepared to agree to.

Sunderland will now want to move quickly as the English transfer window has been moved to a 7pm close, from the usual time of 11pm, in a factor which makes doing international transfers on the final day all the harder.

Player already in London to complete Fulham move on deadline day – Medical on Monday
Fulham have been pursuing a deal for AC Milan's Samuel Chukwueze this summer.

Last week, journalist Orazio Accomando reported the Premier League club have agreed a fee with the Rossoneri, but the two clubs are yet to negotiate the transfer formula.

Gianluca Di Marzio provides the latest on Fulham's ongoing pursuit of the winger on deadline day.

He says the Nigeria international is 'increasingly closer' to joining Marco Silva's side as the two clubs are edging closer to finalising the terms of a loan move.

Fulham have found an agreement with the Serie A club if Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo is to be believed.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the 26-year-old is already in London to complete Fulham move. The journalist adds he will undergo medical tests with the English club on Monday.

In another post on X, Longo provides additional details of the agreement between the two clubs.

He reports Fulham have a purchase option, which will be converted into an obligation if certain set conditions are met. Longo hasn't explained those conditions and adds that the overall package [likely including loan fee] is around €25m.

Chukwueze is all set to join the London club on deadline day.

Fulham's Martial Godo to sign five-year deal at Strasbourg
Martial Godo (22) is set to complete a move from Fulham to RC Strasbourg Alsace, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

Strasbourg have already been extremely active in the transfer window, making 15 signings. The spending is expected to continue on deadline day.

Godo has played only six games for his formative club, registering one assist in that time. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Wigan Athletic, where he scored four goals and registered four assists in League One.

He is now set for a move to Ligue 1. As initially reported by Mohamed Toubache-Ter, the Ivory Coast international is set for a move to the Meinau. Romano understands that the deal is worth over €7m. The winger is now set to sign a five-year deal with Le Racing.

There could also be departures at Strasbourg today. Dilane Bakwa has been a key target for several Premier League sides this season and further bids are expected.

Fulham's Godo set for Strasbourg move
Martial Godo is set to leave Fulham to join Strasbourg.

The 22 year-old winger has agreed a five-year contract and is expected to move for a fee of around £6m.

He made six first-team appearances for the Whites, and had loan spell at Wigan Athletic in 2023.

Godo impressed in the Fulham academy from 2022, scoring 15 goals in 39 appearances for the Under-21s.

Injuries to a couple of first-team wingers dented his chances of going out on loan last season, when a number of Championship sides were keen on the Ivory Coast international.

Godo will join up with former Fulham player, and now Strasbourg manager, Liam Rosenior, in France.

However, Silva wants at least one more deadline day addition, with Arsenal's Reiss Nelson still high on his list despite Crystal Palace also exploring a deal.

Nelson, 25, spent the first half of last season on loan in west London before injury curtailed his campaign, but a return to Fulham could still be on the cards.

TEAMtalk first reported Fulham's renewed interest in the Arsenal star on July 23 and he remains under consideration in the final hours of the transfer window.

FC Basel winger Phillip Ortele is another player who is admired, and the Nigerian has been offered to Fulham, Brighton and Bournemouth.

It's also believed that Feyenoord's Hwang In-beom has also been scouted by the Cottages and is another player on their 'B' list.

Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling has been mentioned and although he wants to stay in London, his wages are proving problematic.

Fulham close in on Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze double deal on Deadline Day
The pair will have medicals on Monday in a double deal potentially worth £60million

Fulham are closing in on deals for Samuel Chukwueze and Kevin on deadline day.

Kevin, who was left out of Shakhtar Donetsk's squad ahead of their 2-0 win over FC Oleksandriya on Sunday, is undergoing a medical, having agreed personal terms ahead of a club-record move.

Fulham have agreed a £34.6million fee for Kevin, eclipsing the £27m paid for Emile Smith Rowe last summer.

Kevin scored nine goals and provided four assists last season, particularly impressing for Shakhtar in the Champions League.

Standard Sport understands that Chukwueze is set to sign on loan, with an option to buy set at between £22-26m.

The 26-year-old, who started just nine games for AC Milan last season, is due to undergo a medical later today.

Fulham have been in the market for a winger all summer and hold a longstanding interest in Arsenal's Reiss Nelson.

Marco Silva wants to bring in two new wingers before the transfer deadline, with academy graduate Martial Godo set to complete a move to Strasbourg.

Godo completed a medical with the Ligue 1 side on Sunday ahead of a £6m move.

Fulham have endured a difficult summer, having so far only managed to bring in backup goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, but they are expected to be busy before the deadline, with deals for Kevin and Chukwueze close to completion.

Having focused on contract renewals for much of the summer, Fulham have now stepped up their efforts to bring players in before tonight's deadline.

Besiktas join Fulham in race to sign Arsenal winger
Fulham remain in talks to sign Reiss Nelson on a deadline-day loan, but Besiktas have entered the race and would have more time to complete a deal.

Going into deadline day, Peter Rutzler of The Times had reported that though Fulham have held an interest in Reiss Nelson, they're currently looking to complete deals for Kevin of Shakhtar Donetsk and Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan.

All the same, Isaan Khan of the Daily Mail and Ryan Taylor of the Mirror reported on Monday morning that Fulham remain in talks over a loan for Nelson, and a deal is still possible.

Yet if it doesn't work out, it seems Nelson has a backup plan in Turkish side Besiktas.

James Benge reports for CBS Sports that Besiktas are interested in Nelson and willing to offer him a payrise this summer. Though Nelson would prefer to remain in England, Besiktas have the advantage of a transfer window that doesn't close until September 12th.

If Nelson's move to Fulham falls through on deadline day, the winger's options to remain in England would effectively drop to just one – making it back into Mikel Arteta's starting lineup.

At that point, maybe a move to Turkey with a pay increase starts to become a lot more appealing.

The situation could seemingly still go either way. Fulham want to sign two wingers on deadline day, so if moves for either Kevin or Chukwueze fall through Nelson could then complete a late transfer. It's one to watch in the final hours.
