Newcastle interested in Fulham star – Report
After a draining few months over the summer, where tedious transfer sagas dragged on until deadline day, it won't be long until trading season returns in January.

There is a lot of football to be played between now and the new year, but Newcastle scouts will have their eye on a number of potential targets as we look to strengthen a squad bidding to compete regularly in the league, both cups and Europe.

A new link has emerged today, as The Chronicle reveal that Newcastle are keeping a close eye on Fulham sensation Joshua King.

Lee Ryder reports that Newcastle are watching the attacking midfielder, who has been one of the breakout talents in the early months of the new 2025/26 Premier League season.

After eight league appearances last term, most of which from the bench, the teenager has started all seven of Fulham's league games this season, showing impressive technical ability and quick feet.

King has had two goals disallowed and was robbed of what should've been his first top flight strike at Chelsea, where VAR intervened to chalk off Fulham's opener at Stamford Bridge.

He has also been called up to England's U21 squad over the international break and made an instant impact, winning a penalty just two minutes after replacing Everton's Tyler Dibling.

Right now, some may wonder how Newcastle find room for a seventh midfielder, but if Joe Willock's days are numbered and Eddie Howe is on the lookout for another attacking option, King could be a brilliant piece of business.

The England youth star won't come cheap, however, signing a four-year deal in July to keep him contracted at Craven Cottage until 2029.

Ødegaard, Madueke & Hincapié: Latest Arsenal injury news and expected return dates ahead of Fulham clash
The latest Arsenal injury news ahead ahead of their Premier League match against Fulham - including an update on Martin Ødegaard.

Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Saturday evening when they make the short trip across the capital to Craven Cottage – but they will have to take Fulham on without several key players.

Fresh updates mean that we now have a clearer picture of how long the Gunners will have to make do without club captain Martin Ødegaard, who sustained a knee injury in the first half of the recent 2-0 win over West Ham United, while Mikel Arteta will also be sweating on the fitness of defender Piero Hincapié, who is a doubt ahead of the weekend.

We've got all the latest updates on both of those players and the rest of Arsenal's stricken players, along with their expected return dates when available.

How long will Martin Ødegaard be out injured for?
Arsenal's luckless captain set a new and unwanted Premier League record as the first player to be substituted in the first half of three consecutive matches when he was taken off with what proved to a medical collateral ligament (MCL) injury against West Ham.

That injury, which followed a persistent shoulder issue which had already blighted the early part of his season, will now sideline Ødegaard until after the November international break, according to BBC Sport.

If accurate, that means that the 26-year-old will miss the next six matches in the Premier League and Champions League – but also offers hope that he will be back in time for the first North London Derby of the season on 23 November.

Another knee injury victim, Noni Madueke, should also be back in time for that match, and is currently forecast to be back in action in early November after being forced to come off at half-time of the 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

Will Piero Hincapié be fit to face Fulham?
Summer signing Hincapié has barely featured so far this season, playing for just one minute at the end of the 2-0 Champions League win over Athletic Club, but he could be ready to play some part against Fulham following a groin injury.

Arteta told reporters prior to the West Ham match that the Ecuadorian "will be available after the international break" and there have been no reports suggesting that he has faced any further setbacks. He is still unlikely to start, with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães expected to continue partnering each other at centre-back, but the Bayer Leverkusen loanee could play some part from the bench.

Arsenal's other absentees will be out for rather longer. As with Madueke and Ødegaard, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are both recovering from serious knee injuries and are not expected back until later in the year.

Havertz underwent knee surgery in August but is expected to be back before Jesus, who is unlikely to be involved until January. Havertz could return in late November, but a December comeback is considered more likely as it stands. Arteta has not offered a precise timeline for either player.

'I couldn't really defend' - Why Celtic cult hero snubbed West Ham and Fulham transfer interest in favour of Parkhead move
The 94-capped Swedish international won 16 major honours during his seven-year spell at Celtic Park

Celtic cult hero Mikael Lustig has revealed the reason he turned down transfer interest from West Ham and Fulham in favour of a move to Parkhead was down to concerns over his ability to defend well enough.

The Swedish defender became a fan favourite during his seven-year spell with the Hoops after signing from Norwegian outfit Rosenborg in 2012. At the time, Lustig was also subject to interest from the two London clubs.

And in a recent interview in his homeland, the 38-year-old has spoken out on his decision to opt against a move to England by revealing he ended up at the Scottish champions because he "couldn't defend".

Lustig also admitted he felt playing for either of the two clubs, who had won promotion from the EFL Championship and would have been likely to have been fighting relegation the following season, wouldn't have suited his attack-minded style play.

Speaking to Swedish podcast Lundh, he said: "I had the chance to go to West Ham and Fulham when I was at Rosenborg. But they were two teams that were in the Championship one year, then the Premier League one year and fought at the bottom.

"At that time I really couldn't defend. I couldn't go there and just defend; then I would be completely depressed. When I chose, it was really that I needed to go to a team that fought at the top and won a lot of games, because that was the offensive game I had."

Lustig won multiple domestic trophies during his time in Glasgow's east end. He admitted he didn't quite realise the scale of the club until he started seeing a vast number of fans across the world.

He added: "It's such an incredibly big club. When you're there and especially when you go abroad, it doesn't matter if it's in the USA or Spain, there are always Irish pubs where you see people in Celtic shirts.

"Then you realise that it's not just in Glasgow that people talk about Celtic. The club is very big."

Fulham vs Arsenal early injury news as 6 players out and 2 doubts ahead of Premier League clash
Early injury news as Fulham host Arsenal in an all-London Premier League clash after the international break

Arsenal and Fulham are back in Premier League action on Saturday as Mikel Arteta's league leaders visit Craven Cottage for a huge London derby after the international break.

The Gunners went to the summit of the league table after a confident victory over West Ham United before the break, as they benefitted from successive defeats for Liverpool to become early October's pace-setters.

A trip to the Cottage will represent a stern test, though, as Fulham are unbeaten at home and boast victories over Leeds United and Brentford on the banks of the River Thames. Successive away defeats at Aston Villa and Bournemouth have left the Cottagers 14th in the Premier League after seven matches.

Both sides have a series of injury concerns ahead of the fixture, with early team news surfacing ahead of the two clubs' meeting in west London. Arteta and Marco Silva will be left with significant selection dilemmas for their respective sides' anticipated return to action.

Sasa Lukic - Out
Serbia manager Dragan Stojkovic confirmed that Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic will be out for four to six weeks with an adductor injury sustained early on in the defeat to Bournemouth. He said to the media last week: "Lukic has an injury to the adductor of his left leg, with a break between four and six weeks. We certainly couldn't count on him against Albania due to the suspension."

Rodrigo Muniz - Out
The home side will also be without Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz, who has missed their last two games with a hamstring injury. Manager Silva said on his return: "Rodrigo [Muniz], let's see if we can have him back before the [November] international break."

Kenny Tete - Doubt
Cottagers full-back Kenny Tete is unlikely to be fully fit for the visit of Arsenal with a knee injury, though he has not required surgery.

"Right now, I can assure you that Rodrigo is going to be out, and Kenny Tete is going to be out, too," said Silva ahead of the Bournemouth game. "More than just this game, we believe even after the international break it's going to be an issue for them to be ready for the next ones. Bad news for us, a big blow for us in terms of two important players, [but] it is what it is."

Raul Jimenez - Doubt
One of only two senior strikers in the Fulham squad alongside Muniz, Jimenez suffered a hip injury at Villa Park and is a doubt for Saturday's fixture. He has not been in action for Mexico in hope of returning after the international break.

Martin Odegaard - Out
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard made unwanted headlines against West Ham when he became the first player in Premier League history to be substituted in the first half of three successive Premier League starts, all with injury. The midfielder was confirmed to have suffered an MCL injury to his knee and pulled out of the Norway squad for the international break. Saturday's clash will come too soon for the 26-year-old.

Noni Madueke - Out
England star Noni Madueke made a strong start to life in north London before suffering a knee injury against Manchester City. He is reportedly targeting a return in early November according to the Standard, though initial reports suggested the winger would be out for six to eight weeks.

Piero Hincapie - Available
New signing Piero Hincapie has only played one minute for the Gunners so far in a solitary substitute appearance since his move on an initial loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen in August. He has been struggling with a groin injury, but is expected to be back to fitness and in contention for the trip to Fulham.

He could make his Premier League debut if selected by Arteta, who said before the West Ham win: "He will be available after the international break. This game came too fast."

Kai Havertz - Out
Kai Havertz underwent knee surgery in August and will remain out for the foreseeable future. No timescale has been given for the German's return, but he will hope to return to action in late 2025.

Gabriel Jesus - Out
Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus continues his recovery from a torn ACL suffered back in January, and is getting slowly closer to a return. He has returned to training on grass, but may not be ready until the new year.
