I still find it remarkable that such a promising front 3 of Knockaert, Mitro and Cavaleiro somehow was so ineffective and yielded so little.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Quote from: Carborundum on December 14, 2025, 12:09:19 PMWhether he's naughty or nice can be left to a higher authority.  As a season ticket holder I didn't feel his brand of football gave me as much enjoyment of games as I would have liked.  He got us promoted, them struggled, as did Jokanovic.  But Slavisa's football was enjoyable and I have far warmer memories of his time in charge.
Football's difficult and as the manager of a promoted team the situation is stacked against you.  Some manage to pull off the "staying up" feat, it's just that Scott Parker, again, looks like he won't.  A roll of the managerial dice at Burnley now seems more likely than not.

That's the thing about football management. It's all or nothing. No second chances. No demotion. Next week he might be losing all four stripes and getting a ghost writer to pen his memoirs, if he hasn't already. Perhaps it will be titled Fine Margins.

Especially since his successor was able to make full use of Mitrovic and turned him into a nightmare for defenders.

Credit to Marco but also to Mitro who did a lot of hard work in the gym- or so he said.

Seeing what's happened to Knockaert and Cavaleiro's careers since though, I guess they weren't the Championship allstars we thought.

How incredibly ineffective we were in PL under him is a whole other story though. There was no real plan for how to unlock defences other than countering after sitting deep and hoping for the best.

He was nearly in tears in the interview

He was in tears cos he's getting relegated again, the 3rd time I do believe

I'm sure some of the players would tell you a different story regarding him being a really nice bloke

I wonder if Burnley's main problem was their recent losses in the Premier League meaning they couldn't spend £100ms strengthening like Sunderland? Leeds faced the same issue.

Per Transfermarkt, they spent £113m in the summer with their net spend being £82m.

The only positives they take is that they scored 1 decently finished goal (the first) that no other defence in the PL would have allowed to happen, besides us!  And a youngster who scored their second took it well I suppose, but again, shambolic defending!!

It was all his training in Mc Donald's that did it ::thumb::

Look, I dislike Parker as a manager, wasn't overly keen on him as a player, but never really thought of him other than being a decent human being. It's always hard trying to look at personality when a lot of management is panto and PR anyway but Parker always seemed like a good guy, just not a progressive football manager. (style of play wise). I know it's become a bit of a meme that as fulhams fans we should dislike him and not wish him well but to be honest, I kinda feel bad for him. He does what ne needs to do at the level he's built for, and gets completely railed when he comes up, ends up sacked, and finds another decent budget club for a championship run. Rinse and repeat.

Londonfranky

The promotion with with Parker was the worst promotion i have seen in 60 years of watching Fulham, I worked it out I have seen  6 or 7 promotions in that time, that season there was probably about 3 or 4 decent games throughout the season, obviously the playoffs were something else, the sight of us going 1-0 up in 20 minutes against a relegation threatened team and just passed the ball between themselves for the next 70 minutes was depressing, your probably right about his future career, can't be that bad having 3 promotions on your CV, it will probably keep him in expensive cardigans for years to come

Fulham 1879

He's far too cautious and defensive a manager and it was very frustrating watching Fulham when he was at the helm, but I start to feel a bit sorry for him. He's a decent guy. I console myself with the fact that he's very astute at waiting until a Championship side with a good budget comes along, so if sacked I think he'll get a good job in that division.

It really annoys me when people slag Scott off, He has been in  top football since he was 14, he has 4 kids and regularly turns up at their football games , he is happy to talk to other parents, there has never been any scandal surrounding him, people forget who paid the ridiculous fines danger mouse imposed on a couple of the juniors, he was a good motivational captain for us, yes his management skills were questionable but he got us promoted, He spotted Rea off his line and was quick to call over Joe,
he spoke very well after the game despite obviously being upset at the poor mistakes by his players

My main gripe with him is his complete mismanagement of Mitrovic. We had a 10+ goal per season striker ready to be used but he instead chose to use a winger.

Compared to Felix Magath, Parker was a Genius.

I'm not sure. was it mismanagement or was it Mitrovic causing issues, I can't believe that any manager would leave out your main goal getter without a good reason.

Unless someone can categorically say that it was down to Parker and not just because you want to believe it, my mind will be open on it.

Sgt Fulham

My heart bleeds for the multi millionaire. Top level football management is brutal, obviously. If he cant deal with that, hes in the wrong business.
