Quote from: Neutral Zone Ultra on July 30, 2026, 01:22:01 PMSorry to be negative but £25m profit off a £100m+ sale wouldn't feel great to me - and that's assuming he gets sold for that which feels more unlikely than not. For context, that's the same amount of profit we got for selling Sessegnon to Tottenham and that was 7 years ago (equivalent to £33m now).
Call me old fashioned and a dinosaur, and I'm just spitballing here, but how about we let the lad pull on the black and white shirt and kick a ball first before we start moaning about the perceived lack of profit 🙄🤷🏻

I, for one, am very excited about the prospect of seeing GG run out on the hallowed CC turf

£34m up to £35.5 with bonuses

If we end up having to sell him for £100m + in a couple years then he's presumably done absolute wonders for us and we're still able to make a good £25m profit

Absolute buzzing for this kid

Point is what would you rather?

We pay what - 60m+ now upfront for 100% and cripple our other spending capacity for the window? And then IF we sell him for 100m we make 40m profit so around 15m difference for 20m less up front risk and ability to make other signings?

Given you admit it's very possible we don't get 100m + for him then presumably less upfront risk is better?

if we sold him tomorrow for £100m we would make £34.5m after Madrid take their £30m. This kid could be the next big striker, if Rogers is being sold for £117m in a couple of years I'd be expecting £150m that would give us a £69.5m

Luckily it's not your money then .... I would be happy with £25m / £30m profit in two years on any player...
How many players leave for nothing? .... or we take a loss? ....
We buy a potential world star quality player - For e40m and people are still not happy .... unbelievable... I give up!!

Yep my maths a bit off as on the move , but point stands regardless. Less risk up front and still able to make a decent profit if he smashes it for us. If this is how much they want with 30% then 100% seems it'd be way too much up front imo

Who says I'm not excited about the player? I am I think he looks like a great prospect. I'm just saying I don't think the financial terms are massively favourable for us.

It is my money, I pay the club hundreds of pounds a year supporting it so believe me I have a stake in how I think it should be run! "Not your money" is the one of the most trite and broken record lines that gets trotted out on this forum.

Yeah agreed less upfront risk is ideal. It just feels like we have all our eggs in one basket with this lad, are we even considering any other strikers? I'm sure he's a top talent but to me it just sort of feels we're letting Madrid dictate the terms of the deal to us.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but it's Khan's capital, not yours. What you've done is paid into a company of which I assume you have a shareholding of 0.00% (happy to be corrected).

Remember when Al Fayed told us to "go to hell" over the Wacko Jacko statue? That's how much influence we have.

If he has an outstanding season or two and helps us get into Europe that changes the calculus a bit, doesn't it? I think the most we can tell right now is this probably isn't going to be a lemon of a deal and whether we come out a little bit ahead or a lot we won't know until he moves on.

So it's two wingers and two central midfielders and a centre back to go...

Bronaldinho

If it's Kevin - GG - Bobb with ESR/King behind.

That's a lightweight but dynamic front 4. If they click it could be great if we play at a high tempo.
